The atom transfer radical polymerization of an unprotected glycomonomer, 2‐{[(D ‐glucosamin‐2N‐yl)carbonyl]oxy}ethyl methacrylate (HEMAGl) is firstly reported. Controlled polymerizations were performed with the CuBr/N,N,N′,N′,N′‐pentamethyldiethylene triamine catalytic system with ethyl 2‐bromoisobutyrate and 1,2‐bis(bromoisobutyryloxy) ethane as mono and difunctional initiators in DMF solutions (80% w/w) at 40 and 50 °C, respectively. The polymerization of HEMAGl resulted in a controlled polymerization with linear kinetics, molecular weights which increase with conversion and narrow polydispersity indexes. Mono and difunctional PHEMAGl macroinitiators were used to synthesize the amphiphilic di and triblock glycopolymers with n‐butyl acrylate, verifying their living character. The self‐assembly of these glycopolymers in distilled water and in 0.1M NaCl solutions was studied by dynamic light scattering, showing the role of hydrogen bonds and the hydrophobic parts. In addition, their interaction with Concanavalin A lectin was examined, demonstrating the influence of molecular weight and copolymer composition. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The syntheses of a variety of amphiphilic block glycopolymers based on 2‐{[(D ‐glucosamin‐2‐N‐yl)carbonyl]oxy}ethyl acrylate and n‐butyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate by single‐electron transfer‐living radical polymerization (SET‐LRP) are described. In a first step, the homopolymerization of unprotected acrylic glycomonomer to obtain well‐controlled glycopolymers is studied. Posterior and based on these studies, di‐ and triblock glycopolymers were synthesized via SET‐LRP of the glycomonomer from different hydrophobic blocks, varying the hydrophilic block lengths. All the copolymers are characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and GPC. Moreover, their water solution behavior by dynamic light scattering and their capacity of interaction with Concanavalin A lectin by turbidimetry are analyzed. The effect on the block glycopolymers behavior of hydrophobic block nature and the length of glycopolymer segments is evaluated. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymeric films with porous structures and microsphere patterns were prepared by the method of breath figures, mixing poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and amphiphilic copolymers containing glucose moieties in their structure, glycopolymers. Statistical and block glycopolymers were used in a proportion of 10 wt %. The statistical glycopolymers were synthesized via conventional free radical copolymerization, whereas the block copolymer of methyl methacrylate and 2‐{[(D ‐glucosamin‐2‐Nyl) carbonyl]oxy}ethyl methacrylate, PMMA‐b‐PHEMAGl, was obtained by atom transfer radical polymerization. Glycopolymers were blended with a high molecular weight PMMA matrix and dissolved in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and a small amount of water. Results showed that, depending on experimental conditions (water content, humidity, and type of copolymer), the observed final film morphology changes significantly. Thus, films with honeycomb pattern structures, spherical particles, or a mixture of both were obtained. In addition, polar glucose moieties were oriented principally either inside of the pores in the case of films and towards the surface in the case of particles. The specific surface bioactivity of these materials was examined using the specific lectin concanavalin A conjugated with fluorescein, Con A‐FITC. The successful binding of the Con A was demonstrated by fluorescence microscopy being more intense at the surface of the pores and of the particles. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) coated with glycopolymer bearing glucose moieties were designed with optimal structural, colloidal, and magnetic properties for biomedical applications. MNPs with an average size of 17 ± 2 nm were synthesized by thermal decomposition process and then their surfaces were modified with active vinyl groups. Two different monomers were immobilized onto the surfaces: dopamine methacrylamide, a monomer with properties inspired on mussels adhesive capacity, or unprotected glycomonomer, 2‐{[(D ‐glucosamin‐2N‐yl)carbonyl]‐oxy}ethyl methacrylate. Afterward, the glycomonomer were polymerized at the interface of both vinyl functionalized MNPs by conventional radical polymerization. The resultant hybrid NPs were water dispersible presenting good stability in aqueous solution for long time periods. Moreover, the high density of carbohydrates at the surface of the magnetic NPs could confer targeting properties to the system as demonstrated by studies of their binding interactions with lectins, where the binding activity is higher as the glycopolymer content augments. The magnetic and magneto‐thermal properties of the synthesized hybrid NPs were evaluated. The magnetization curves reveal superparamagnetic features at 300 K, with high values of saturation magnetization. Furthermore, the hybrid glycoparticles show suitable heat dissipation power when exposed to alternating magnetic field conditions. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel miktofunctional initiator ( 1 ), 2‐hydroxyethyl 3‐[(2‐bromopropanoyl)oxy]‐2‐{[(2‐bromopropanoyl)oxy]methyl}‐2‐methyl‐propanoate, possessing one initiating site for ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) and two initiating sites for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), was synthesized in a three‐step reaction sequence. This initiator was first used in the ROP of ?‐caprolactone, and this led to a corresponding polymer with secondary bromide end groups. The obtained poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) was then used as a macroinitiator for the ATRP of tert‐butyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate, and this resulted in AB2‐type PCL–[poly(tert‐butyl acrylate)]2 or PCL–[poly(methyl methacrylate)]2 miktoarm star polymers with controlled molecular weights and low polydispersities (weight‐average molecular weight/number‐average molecular weight < 1.23) via the ROP–ATRP sequence. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Star‐shaped polypeptide/glycopolymer biohybrids composed of poly(γ‐ benzyl L ‐glutamate) and poly(D ‐gluconamidoethyl methacrylate), exhibiting controlled molecular weights and low polydispersities, were synthesized by the combination of ring‐opening polymerization of γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate N‐carboxyanhydride and the direct atom transfer radical polymerization of unprotected D ‐gluconamidoethyl methacrylate glycomonomer. These biohybrids were characterized in detail by means of FTIR, 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, and wide angle X‐ray diffraction. Independent of weight fraction of hydrophilic glycopolymer segment, the biohybrids self‐assembled into large spherical micelles in aqueous solution, which had a helical polypeptide core surrounded by a multivalent glycopolymer shell. The deprotected poly(L ‐glutamate)/glycopolymer hybrid exhibited a pH‐sensitive self‐assembly behavior, and the average size of the nanoparticles decreased gradually over the aqueous pH value. Moreover, whatever these biohybrids existed in unimolecular level or glycopolymer‐surfaced nanoparticles, they had specific biomolecular recognition with Concanavalin A compared with bovine serum albumin. Furthermore, star‐shaped biohybrids showed a higher doxorubicin loading efficiency and longer drug‐release time than linear analogues. This potentially provides a platform for fabricating targeted anticancer drug delivery system and studying glycoprotein functions in vitro. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two hydrophobic vinyl saccharide monomers based on D ‐glucose and D ‐fructose were polymerized by employing the reversible addition‐fragmentation transfer (RAFT) miniemulsion polymerization technique to prepare well‐designed glycopolymers. Three dithiobenzoate‐RAFT agents [S?C(Ph)S? R], 1‐phenylethyl dithiobenzoate (PED), 2‐phenylprop‐2‐yl dithiobenzoate (PPD), and 2‐cyanoprop‐2‐yl dithiobenzoate (CPD), were used to control the growth of polymer chains. The best results were obtained in the presence of the PPD‐RAFT agent and the formed polymers have polydispersity index's (PDI) lower than 1.15. Under adequate miniemulsion polymerization conditions, a glycopolymer with PDI of 1.1 and molecular weight of 5 × 104 g/mol has been successfully synthesized in a short reaction time of 100 min. Furthermore, some block copolymers containing saccharide segment with butyl or methyl methacrylate were prepared. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Reverse iodine transfer polymerization (RITP), offering the appealing potential of the in situ generation of transfer agents out of molecular iodine I2, is employed in the synthesis of anionic amphiphilic diblock copolymers of poly(styrene) and poly(acrylic acid). Starting with well‐characterized poly(styrene) as macro‐transfer agents synthesized by RITP, diblock copolymers poly(styrene)‐b‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) of various lengths are successfully yielded in solution with a good architectural control. These blocks are then subjected to acid deprotection and subsequent pH control to give rise to anionic amphiphilic poly(styrene)‐b‐poly(acrylic acid). Besides, homopolymers of tert‐butyl acrylate are produced by RITP both in solution and in emulsion. Furthermore, a fruitful trial of the synthesis of diblock copolymers poly(tert‐butyl acrylate)‐b‐poly(styrene) is carried out through chain extension of the poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) latex as a macro‐transfer agent in seeded emulsion polymerization of styrene. Finally, the prepared block copolymer is deprotected to bring about its amphiphilic nature and a pH control caters for its anionic character. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. pH‐Sensitive block glycopolymers of poly(2‐(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDEAEMA) and poly(3‐O‐methacryloy‐α,β‐D ‐glucopyranose) (PMAGlc) were synthesized via reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) radical polymerization based on protected glycomonomer 3‐O‐methacryloyl‐1,2:5,6‐di‐O‐isopropylidene‐D ‐glucofuranose (MAIpGlc). It was found that RAFT homopolymerization of MAIpGlc proceeded in a controlled fashion with 4‐cyanopentanoic acid dithiobenzoate as chain transfer agent. Using the dithioester‐capped PDEAEMA as macro‐RAFT agent, block copolymerization of MAIpGlc was in good control as indicated by the linear pseudo first‐order kinetic plot, the linear increment of number‐average molecular weights as well as narrow and symmetrical gel permeation chromatography peaks, and low polydispersities. Well‐defined diblock copolymers of DEAEMA and MAIpGlc were prepared successfully through the chain extension of PDEAEMA. The deprotection of MAIpGlc units in trifluoroacetic acid/H2O solution afforded PDEAEMA‐b‐PMAGlc block glycopolymer. The self‐assembly behavior of PDEAEMA‐b‐PMAGlc in aqueous solution was investigated by using 1H NMR, UV‐vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron microscopy. The results demonstrated that spherical micelles with PDEAEMA as the hydrophobic cores and PMAGlc as the hydrophilic shells were formed in alkaline aqueous solution. These glucose‐installed micelles had specific recognition with Concanavalin A. The combination of pH‐sensitivity of PDEAEMA and biomolecular recognition of PMAGlc in one micellar system may create a multifunctional platform for targeted delivery, biomimetics, and biodection. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined double hydrophilic graft copolymers, consisting of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(ethyl acrylate) (PNIPAM‐b‐PEA) backbone and poly(2‐(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDEA) side chains, were synthesized by successive atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The backbone was firstly prepared by sequential ATRP of N‐isopropylacrylamide and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate at 25 °C using CuCl/tris(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl)amine as catalytic system. The obtained diblock copolymer was transformed into macroinitiator by reacting with 2‐chloropropionyl chloride. Next, grafting‐from strategy was employed for the synthesis of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐b‐[poly(ethyl acrylate)‐g‐poly(2‐(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)] (PNIPAM‐b‐(PEA‐g‐PDEA)) double hydrophilic graft copolymer. ATRP of 2‐(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate was initiated by the macroinitiator at 40 °C using CuCl/hexamethyldiethylenetriamine as catalytic system. The molecular weight distributions of double hydrophilic graft copolymers kept narrow. Thermo‐ and pH‐responsive micellization behaviors were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy, 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron microscopy. Unimolecular micelles with PNIPAM‐core formed in acidic environment (pH = 2) with elevated temperature (≥32 °C); whereas, the aggregates turned into vesicles in basic surroundings (pH ≥ 7.2) at room temperature. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Triple stimuli (temperature/pH/photo)‐responsive amphiphilic glycopolymer, poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate‐co‐6‐O‐methacryloyl‐1,2,3,4‐di‐O‐isopropylidene‐D‐galactopyranose)‐b‐poly(4‐(4‐methoxyphenylazo)phenoxy methacrylate) [P(DMAEMA‐co‐MAIpGP)‐b‐PMAZO] was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization, followed by the hydrolysis of MAIpGP groups, resulting in the target product poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate‐co‐6‐O‐methacryloyl‐D‐galactopyranose)‐b‐poly(4‐(4‐methoxyphenylazo)phenoxy methacrylate) [P(DMAEMA‐co‐MAGP)‐b‐PMAZO]. The composition, moleculer weight, and moleculer weight distribution of the resultant polymers were characterized by 1H NMR and gel permeation chromatography. The micelles formed in aqueous solutions were simulated by various chemical and physical stimuli and characterized by dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, and UV‐vis spectroscopy. It was found that the glycopolymer is responsive to three different types of stimulus (light, temperature, and pH). The poly(2‐(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) segments give thermo‐ and pH‐responsiveness. The presence of the azobenzene moiety endows the block copolymer to exhibit light‐responsiveness due to its reversible trans‐cis isomerization conversion. The triple stimuli‐responsive glycopolymer micelles can simulate biomacromolecues in vivo/in vitro environment and can be expected to open up new applications in various fields. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The block glycopolymer, poly(2‐(α‐d ‐mannopyranosyloxy)ethyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly(l ‐lactide) (PManEMA‐b‐PLLA), was synthesized via a coupling approach. PLLA having an ethynyl group was successfully synthesized via ring‐opening polymerization using 2‐propyn‐1‐ol as an initiator. The ethynyl functionality of the resulting polymer was confirmed by MALDI‐TOF mass spectroscopy. In contrast, PManEMA having an azide group was prepared via AGET ATRP using 2‐azidopropyl 2‐bromo‐2‐methylpropanoate as an initiator. The azide functionality of the resulting polymer was confirmed by IR spectroscopy. The Cu(I)‐catalyzed 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition between PLLA and PManEMA was performed to afford PManEMA‐b‐PLLA. The block structure was confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and size exclusion chromatography. The aggregating properties of the block glycopolymer, PManEMA16kb‐PLLA6.4k (M n,PManEMA = 16,000, M n,PLLA = 6400) was examined by 1H NMR spectroscopy, fluorometry using pyrene, and dynamic light scattering. The block glycopolymer formed complicated aggregates at concentrations above 21 mg·L?1 in water. The d ‐mannose presenting property of the aggregates was also characterized by turbidimetric assay using concanavalin A. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Single crystals of two liquid crystal compounds, 5‐{[4′‐(((pentyl)oxy)‐4‐biphenylyl)carbonyl]oxy}‐1‐pentyne (A3EO5) and 5‐{[(4′‐nonyloxy‐4‐biphenylyl)carbonyl]oxy}‐1‐pentyne (A3EO9), have been prepared by solution growth technique. The morphologies and structures of A3EO5 and A3EO9 crystals were investigated by wide angle X‐ray diffraction (WXRD), atom force microscope (AFM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). In contrast to the same series of compounds which have a longer alkyl tail, 5‐{[(4′‐heptoxy‐4‐biphenylyl)carbonyl]oxy}‐1‐pentyne (A3EO7), 5‐{[(4′‐heptoxy‐4‐biphenylyl)oxy]carbonyl}‐1‐pentyne (A3E′O7) and A3EO9, A3EO5 shows strikingly different crystalline behavior. The former three compounds have only one crystal form, whereas A3EO5 exhibits polymorphism. Specifically, A3EO5 crystals grown from toluene solution show two crystal forms. The first one is crystal I which adopts a monoclinic P112/m space group with unit cell parameters of a?5.79 Å, b?8.34 Å, c?43.92 Å, γ?96°, and the other one is crystal II which adopts a monoclinic P112 space group with unit cell parameters of a?5.55 Å, b?7.38 Å, c?31.75 Å, γ?94°. When using dioxane as the solvent to grow A3EO5 crystal, we can selectively obtain crystal I. A3EO5 melt‐grown crystals also have two crystal forms which derive from crystal I and crystal II, respectively. The different crystalline behavior of the compounds should correlate with their different electron dipole moment resulting from the different length of alkyl tail.  相似文献

A number of diblock copolymers were successfully prepared by Diels–Alder reaction, between maleimide‐ and anthracene‐end functionalized poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), polystyrene (PS), poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA), and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) in toluene, at 110 °C. For this purpose, 2‐bromo‐2‐methyl‐propionic acid 2‐(3,5‐dioxo‐10‐oxa‐4‐azatricyclo[5.2.1.02,6]dec‐8‐en‐4‐yl)‐ethyl ester, 2 , 9‐anthyrylmethyl 2‐bromo‐2‐methyl propanoate, 3 , and 2‐bromo‐propionic acid 2‐(3,5‐dioxo‐10‐oxa‐4‐azatricyclo[5.2.1.02,6]dec‐8‐en‐4‐yl)‐ethyl ester, 4 , were used as initiators in atom transfer radical polymerization, in the presence of Cu(I) salt and pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA), at various temperatures. On the other hand, PEG with maleimide‐ or anthracene‐end functionality was achieved by esterification between monohydroxy PEG and succinic acid monoathracen‐9‐ylmethyl ester, 1 , or 4‐maleimido‐benzoyl chloride. Thus‐obtained PMMA‐b‐PS, PEG‐b‐PS, PtBA‐b‐PS, and PMMA‐b‐PEG block copolymers were characterized by 1H NMR, UV, and GPC. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of polymer‐matrix‐compatible amphiphilic gold (Au) nanoparticles with well‐defined triblock polymer poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] and diblock polymers poly(methyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate], polystyrene‐b‐poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate], and poly(t‐butyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] in water and in aqueous tetrahydrofuran (tetrahydrofuran/H2O = 20:1 v/v) at room temperature is reported. All these amphiphilic block copolymers were synthesized with atom transfer radical polymerization. The variations of the position of the plasmon resonance band and the core diameter of such block copolymer functionalized Au particles with the variation of the surface functionality, solvent, and molecular weight of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts of the block copolymers were systematically studied. Different types of polymer–Au nanocomposite films [poly(methyl methacrylate)–Au, poly(t‐butyl methacrylate)–Au, polystyrene–Au, poly(vinyl alcohol)–Au, and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)–Au] were prepared through the blending of appropriate functionalized Au nanoparticles with the respective polymer matrices {e.g., blending poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly[2‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate‐stabilized Au with the poly(methyl methacrylate)matrix only}. The compatibility of specific block copolymer modified Au nanoparticles with a specific homopolymer matrix was determined by a combination of ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry analyses. The facile formation of polymer–Au nanocomposites with a specific block copolymer stabilized Au particle was attributed to the good compatibility of block copolymer coated Au particles with a specific polymer matrix. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (AB)f star block copolymers were synthesized by the radical polymerization of a poly(t‐butyl acrylate)‐block‐poly(methyl methacrylate) diblock macroinitiator with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate in methanol under UV irradiation. Diblock macroinitiators were prepared by diethyldithiocarbamate‐mediated sequential living radical copolymerization initiated by (4‐cyano‐4‐diethyldithiocarbamyl)pentanoic acid under UV irradiation. The arm number (f) was controlled by the variation of the initial concentration of the diblock initiator. It was found from light scattering data that such star block copolymers (f ≥ 344) not only took a spherical shape but also formed a single molecule in solution. Subsequently, we derived amphiphilic [arm: poly(acrylic acid)‐block‐poly(methyl methacrylate)] star block copolymers by the hydrolysis of poly(t‐butyl acrylate) blocks. These amphiphilic star block copolymers were soluble in water because the external blocks were composed of hydrophilic poly(acrylic acid) chains. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of polystyrene‐b‐(poly(2‐(2‐bromopropionyloxy) styrene)‐g‐poly(methyl methacrylate)) (PS‐b‐(PBPS‐g‐PMMA)) and polystyrene‐b‐(poly(2‐(2‐bromopropionyloxy)ethyl acrylate)‐g‐poly(methyl methacrylate)) (PS‐b‐(PBPEA‐g‐PMMA)) as new coil‐comb block copolymers (CCBCPs) were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The linear diblock copolymer polystyrene‐b‐poly(4‐acetoxystyrene) and polystyrene‐b‐poly(2‐(trimethylsilyloxy)ethyl acrylate) PS‐b‐P(HEA‐TMS) were obtained by combining ATRP and activators regenerated by electron transfer (ARGET) ATRP. Secondary bromide‐initiating sites for ATRP were introduced by liberation of hydroxyl groups via deprotection and subsequent esterification reaction with 2‐bromopropionyl bromide. Grafting of PMMA onto either the PBPS block or the PBPEA block via ATRP yielded the desired PS‐b‐(PBPS‐g‐PMMA) or PS‐b‐(PBPEA‐g‐PMMA). 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography data indicated the target CCBCPs were successfully synthesized. Preliminary investigation on selected CCBCPs suggests that they can form ordered nanostructures via microphase separation. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Addition of 10 mol‐% of diphenyl diselenide to hydrostannylation reactions involving electron‐rich olefins results in a dramatic improvement in yield. For example, reaction of α‐{[(tert‐butyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy}styrene ( 1 ) with triphenylstannane ( 2a ; 1.1 equiv.) in the presence of PhSeSePh and 2,2′‐azobis[2‐methylpropanenitrile] (AIBN) affords {2‐{[(tert‐butyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy}‐2‐phenylethyl}triphenylstannane ( 3a ) in 95% yield after 2 h. This reaction presumably benefits, by the increased rate of H‐atom transfer, from the in situ generated polarity‐reversal catalyst, benzeneselenol.  相似文献
