Aim of this work is to investigate from a proof-theoretic viewpoint a propositional and a predicate sequent calculus with an –type schema of inference that naturally interpret the propositional and the predicate until–free fragments of Linear Time Logic LTL respectively. The two calculi are based on a natural extension of ordinary sequents and of standard modal rules. We examine the pure propositional case (no extralogical axioms), the propositional and the first order predicate cases (both with a possibly infinite set of extralogical axioms). In this paper, we use the theory of critical points of distance functions to study the rigidity and topology of Riemannian manifolds with sectional curvature bounded below. We prove that an n-dimensional complete connected Riemannian manifold M with sectional curvature K M 1 is isometric to an n-dimensional Euclidean unit sphere if M has conjugate radius bigger than /2 and contains a geodesic loop of length 2. We also prove that if M is an n(3)-dimensional complete connected Riemannian manifold with K M 1 and radius bigger than /2, then any closed connected totally geodesic submanifold of dimension not less than two of M is homeomorphic to a sphere.  相似文献

Summary A continued fraction (c.f.)K(a n /1) is called limit periodic if . Fora anda(–,–1/4],a0, Thron-Waadeland (1980) examined a modification of a limit periodic c.f. for accelerating the convergence. This acceleration remains modest if thea n converge only logarithmically. Thus it is proposed to apply an Euler summability method to the series equivalent to the c.f. Properties of the equivalent function are derived. These properties are used for choosing appropriate parameters for the summability method such that a considerable acceleration can be expected even if thea n converge logarithmically.Dedicated to Prof. F.L. Consider a triangular array of standard Gaussian random variables {n,i, i 0, n 1} such that {n,i, i 0} is a stationary normal sequence for each n 1. Let n,k = corr(n,i,n,i+k). If (1-n,k)log n k (0,) as n for some k, then the locations where the extreme values occur cluster and the limiting distribution of the maxima is still the Gumbel distribution as in the stationary or i.i.d. case, but shifted by a parameter measuring the clustering. Triangular arrays of Gaussian sequences are used to approximate a continuous Gaussian process X(t), t 0. The cluster behavior of the random sequence refers to the behavior of the extremes values of the continuous process. The relation is analyzed. It reveals a new definition of the constants H used for the limiting distribution of maxima of continuous Gaussian processes and provides further understanding of the limit result for these extremes.  相似文献

The problem of existence of wave operators for the Klein-Gordon equation ( t 2 –+2+iV1t+V2)u(x,t)=0 (x R n,t R, n3, >0) is studied where V1 and V2 are symmetric operators in L2(R n) and it is shown that conditions similar to those of Veseli-Weidmann (Journal Functional Analysis 17, 61–77 (1974)) for a different class of operators are also sufficient for the Klein-Gordon equation.  相似文献

The limiting distribution of the normalized periodogram ordinate is used to test for unit roots in the first-order autoregressive model st= s-1,t+s,t-1- s-1,t-1+st. Moreover, for the sequence n = e c/n , n = e d/n of local Pitman-type alternatives, the limiting distribution of the normalized periodogram ordinate is shown to be a linear combination of two independent chi-square random variables whose coefficients depend on c and d. This result is used to tabulate the asymptotic power of a test for various values of c and d. A comparison is made between the periodogram test and a spatial domain test.  相似文献

This paper examines nonlinear parabolic initial-boundary value problems with a discontinuous forcing term, which is locally of bounded variation. Assuming that there exist an upper solution and a lower solution , we prove the existence of a maximal and of a minimal solution within the order interval [,] L P (P xZ). Our approach is based on a Jordan-type decomposition for the discontinuous forcing term and on a fixed point theorem for nondecreasing maps in ordered Banach spaces.  相似文献
