We study the regular and chaotic spatial distribution of Bose-Einstein condensed atoms with a space-dependent nonlinear interaction in a ratchet potential. There exists in the system a space-dependent atomic current that can be tuned via Feshbach resonance technique. In the presence of the space-dependent atomic current and a weak ratchet potential, the Smale-horseshoe chaos is studied and the Melnikov chaotic criterion is obtained. Numerical simulations show that the ratio between the intensities of optical potentials forming the ratchet potential, the wave vector of the laser producing the ratchet potential or the wave vector of the modulating laser can be chosen as the controlling parameters to result in or avoid chaotic spatial distributional states.  相似文献

Exact solutions are obtained for the collective model of two identical two level atoms interacting with a quantized bimodal-field in a lossless cavity. A unitary transformation method is used to solve the time-dependent problem, that also gives the eigensolutions of the interacting Hamiltonian. In particular, we study the atomic population dynamics and the dynamics of the photon statistics in the two cavity modes. We present evidence of co-operative effects.  相似文献

Population dynamics of excited atoms in dissipative cavities is investigated in this work. We present a method of controlling populations of excited atoms in dissipative cavities. For the initial state |eeAB|00〉ab, the repopulation of excited atoms can be obtained by using atom-cavity couplings and non-Markovian effects after the atomic excited energy decays to zero. For the initial state |ggAB|11〉ab, the two atoms can also be populated to the excited states from the initial ground states by using atom-cavity couplings and non-Markovian effects. And the stronger the atom-cavity coupling or the non-Markovian effect is, the larger the number of repopulation of excited atoms is. Particularly, when the atom-cavity coupling or the non-Markovian effect is very strong, the number of repopulation of excited atoms can be close to one in a short time and will tend to a steady value in a long time.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of two identical atoms resonantly coupled to independent single-mode cavity in zero detuning without rotating wave approximation (RWA). It is shown that for two atoms initially in the ground state, the entanglement (concurrence) and the normalized geometric measure of quantum discord (NGMQD) display similar behavior. There is no sudden death and sudden birth. And the entanglement is always larger than NGMQD in this case. For two atoms initially in excited state, one can see the novel entanglement sudden death (ESD) and sudden birth (ESB) phenomena. The entanglement is not always greater than the NGMQD in this case. Consequently, there is no simple dominance relation between the entanglement and the NGMQD.  相似文献

In this paper we study the linear and nonlinear (intensity-dependent) interactions of two two-level atoms with a single-mode quantized field far from resonance, while the phase-damping effect is also taken into account. To find the analytical solution of the atom-field state vector corresponding to the considered model, after deducing the effective Hamiltonian we evaluate the time-dependent elements of the density operator using the master equation approach and superoperator method. Consequently, we are able to study the influences of the special nonlinearity function \(f (n) = \sqrt {n}\), the intensity of the initial coherent state field and the phase-damping parameter on the degree of entanglement of the whole system as well as the field and atom. It is shown that in the presence of damping, by passing time, the amount of entanglement of each subsystem with the rest of system, asymptotically reaches to its stationary and maximum value. Also, the nonlinear interaction does not have any effect on the entanglement of one of the atoms with the rest of system, but it changes the amplitude and time period of entanglement oscillations of the field and the other atom. Moreover, this may cause that, the degree of entanglement which may be low (high) at some moments of time becomes high (low) by entering the intensity-dependent function in the atom-field coupling.  相似文献

Landau and dynamical instabilities o/a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the excited bands of a one-dimensional optical lattice are investigated by the Gross Pitaevskii theory. Our results show that there always exists Landau instability for a BEC in the whole region of excited bands. We also map out the dangerous zones of the dynamical instability. The scattering of light exotic atoms in excited states (n = 2–5) from hydrogen has been calculated in a close-coupling model. For the first time, the absorption cross sections for hadronic atoms due to Stark collisions have been calculated by taking the shifts and widths of the nS states into account in a self-consistent quantum mechanical framework. A classical-trajectory Monte Carlo method has been used to calculate the scattering of exotic atoms from molecular hydrogen for n≥8. The Coulomb transitions with Δn>1 are found to be the dominant deexcitation mechanism at the initial stage of the cascade.  相似文献

The spectrum shape of atomic radiation in the case of ideal Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC)excited by quantized light is derived through the Wigner-Weisskopf approximation. Besides the split and gap in the excitation spectrum, a doublet structure appears in the emission spectrum with different widths for the non-resonant case and the same widths for the resonant case. The survival probability is found to decrease exponentially for the non-resonan t case and with oscillation for the resonant case. A suppressed radiation also appears in the nonresonant case. All these results can be used to detect the existence of BE condensation.  相似文献

In this letter, we have studied sub-Poissonian distributions and quantum correlation of atoms in spinor Bose-Einstein condensates. It is found that there exists the sub-Poissonian distributions for spin-1 and spin-(-1) components, respectively. There may exist the violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality. For the same atomic numbers, the regions that include violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality will shift rightwards with the increment of the Rabi frequency, whereas for the same Rabi frequency, the regions will shift leftwards with the increment of the atomic numbers.  相似文献

In optical lattices where each site is occupied in its lowest energy state by a superposition of zero, one, and two atoms, one can in a controllable manner convert the atomic pair into a molecule while retaining the vacuum and one-atom amplitudes. The microscopic quantum coherence on each site between the vacuum and the single molecule component leads to a macroscopically populated molecular condensate when the lattice is removed.  相似文献

Considering the adiabatical approximation and the large detuning condition, we give the effective Hamiltonian of a ladder-type three levels atom interacting with a bimodal cavity field. If two identical three-level atoms are sent through the cavity one by one, a two-atom entangled state can be generated. With the choice of the appropriate interaction time, a maximally entangled state of two atoms can be obtained if decoherence effect is ignored. Moreover, we discuss the effect of cavity decay on four physical quantities including atomic population probability, residual entanglement of the first atom and the cavity field, concurrence between the two atoms, and fidelity for generating atomic EPR state, all of which decrease with the increase of cavity decay when the other parameters are fixed.  相似文献
