We report the n x n' coherence-like state solutions in the cases of n, n' = 1, 2,... for the system including two Coulomb-correlated ions confined in a one-dimensional Paul trap with a time-dependent harmonic potential. One of the n' exact solutions of the centre-of-mass motion describes a generalized coherent state. For a small driving strength the n approximate solutions of relative motion are constructed, which describe the coherent oscillations of the two ions around the classical equilibrium position.  相似文献

We have carried out a molecular dynamics stimulation for a few Paul-trapped ions exerted by a trapping force, inter-ion Coulomb forces and a damping force from a cooling source. The geometric structure in the ordered phase is studied in detail. It is found that the structure varies regularly with the ion number and forms concentric shells when the ion number grows. Furthermore, the similarity between the ions' structure and the potential of the trap is also presented. Finally, the case in the second stability region is investigated, which gives a comparison with that in the first stability region.  相似文献

A simple method to detect mercury ions confined in a Paul trap has been developed by resonant ejection. In this method, frequency of the additional ejection ac voltage is scanned instead of the amplitude of the rf drive voltage in conventional methods. It is possible not only to observe the spectra of the secular oscillation of the trapped ions directly, but also to eject the confined ions from the trap mass-selectively.  相似文献

Pig ions are confined in a hyperboloid ion trap. With the rf discharge ^202 Hg isotope lamp, the fluorescence signal of trapped Hg ions is observed. By means of buffer gas cooling, the ionic temperature is reduced. As a result, the trapping time is increased and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the fluorescent signal is improved. The temperature of ion cloud is estimated by measuring the space charge shift.  相似文献

The resonant transition in the Paul trap is studied by the time-space transformation and function series expansion. A new selection rule for the transition in the trap is derived strictly. New developments in ion cooling and ion bunching allow the trapping of radioactive ions from a low energy beam, in a very short time scale and with very good efficiency. The performances of Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) coolers, recently developed in several laboratories in Europe and USA, are now better known. In the present study, a RFQ device will be used to inject 6He+ ions in a transparent Paul trap. The ion beam will be delivered by the SPIRAL facility at GANIL. The careful measurement of the β-recoil ion coincidence spectrum is sensitive to the angular correlation parameter a, which depends on the coupling constants of the weak hamiltonian. It should be equal to −1/3 if the interaction is only of axial vector type (V-A theory). Deviation from this value would imply a new tensor-like interaction involving a new exchange boson thus introducing new physics beyond the Standard Model. The frequency of a SHG of a high power laser diode has been stabilized to the 5s2S1/2#x2212;5p2P1/2 transition of 88Sr#x002B; at 421.671 nm using the differential detection of the absorption signal of a hollow-cathode lamp. The frequency fluctuation never exceeded 10 MHz. The fluorescence signal of 88Sr#x002B; ions was detected.  相似文献

The static and dynamic properties of the two-dimensional classic system of two-species interacting charged particles in a parabolic trap are studied. The ground state energy and configuration for different kinds of binary systems are obtained by Monte Carlo simulation and Newton optimization. The spectrum and normal modes vectors can be gained by diagonalizing the dynamical matrix of the system. It is found that the total particle number, particle number and mass-to-charge ratio of each species are decisive factors for the system structure and spectrum. The three intrinsic normal modes of single species Coulomb clusters are inherent, concluded from our numerical simulations and analytical results.  相似文献

The conversion properties of 15 different combinations of rust converters have been studied. The results indicate that the rust layer without conversion is composed of spinel phase, akaganeite, magnetically ordered goethite, and lepidocrocite. On the other hand, besides the mentioned iron oxides and oxyhydroxides, the converted-rust layer consists of iron phosphate and iron tannate. Mössbauer spectrometry has allowed us to classify the degree of conversion of the different formulations according to both the tannic acid content and the mixture of the isopropyl and terbutanol alcohol. It was found that there is a specific mixture of alcohol for each tannic concentration for which the power of conversion is greatly enhanced. It is also concluded that non-stoichiometric spinel phase underwent the greater transformation of about 90%, followed by magnetically blocked goethite, in which 30% of it was transformed. In contrast, akaganeite seems to be not noticeably affected by the converters. It was not possible to assess the effect on lepidocrocite.

40Ca+ ions are trapped and laser cooled in a miniature Paul trap. The secular motion was observed by the radio-frequency resonance of the ion cloud and Zeeman profile sidebands of a single ion experimentally. The trap stability parameters a and q are determined with an uncertainty under 1% by the secular motion frequency measurement. The trap efficiency is 0.75. A practicable suggestion is given for the benefits of a new trap design.  相似文献
