We consider a simple model of particle transport on the line defined by a dynamical map F satisfying F(x+1)=1+F(x) for all x and F(x)=ax+b for |x|<1/2. Its two parameters a (slope) and b (bias) are respectively symmetric and antisymmetric under reflection xR(x)=–x. Restricting ourselves to the chaotic regime |a|>1 and therein mainly to the part a>1 we study, along the lines of previous investigations [R. Klages and J. R. Dorfman, Phys. Rev. Lett. 74:387 (1995)] on the restricted, symmetric (b=0) one-parameter version of the present model, the parameter dependence of the transport properties, i.e., not only of the diffusion coefficient D(a,b), but this time also of the current J(a,b). A major difference however is that this time an important tool for such a study has been available, in the form of exact expressions for J and D obtained recently by one of the authors. These expressions allow for a quite efficient numerical implementation, which is important, because the functions encountered typically have a fractal character. The main results of our present preliminary survey of the parameter plane of the model are presented in several plots of these functions J(a,b) and D(a,b) and in an over-all chart displaying, in the parameter plane, in principle all possibly relevant information on the system including, e.g., the dynamical phase diagram as well as, by way of illustration, values of some topological invariants (kneading numbers) which, according to the formulas, determine the singularity structure of J(a,b) and D(a,b). What we regard as our most significant findings are: (1) Nonlinear Response: The parameter dependence of these transport properties is, throughout the ergodic part of the parameter plane (i.e., outside the infinitely many Arnol'd tongues) fractally nonlinear. (2) Negative Response: Inside certain regions with an apparently fractal boundary the current J and the bias b have opposite signs.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum phase diagram of the exactly solved mixed spin-(1/2,1) ladder via the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA). In the absence of a magnetic field the model exhibits three quantum phases associated with su(2), su(4), and su(6) symmetries. In the presence of a strong magnetic field, there is a third and full saturation magnetization plateaux within the strong antiferromagnetic rung coupling regime. Gapless and gapped phases appear in turn as the magnetic field increases. For weak rung coupling, the fractional magnetization plateau vanishs and the model undergoes new quantum phase transitions. However, in the ferromagnetic coupling regime, the system does not have a third saturation magnetization plateau. The critical behaviour in the vicinity of the critical points is also derived systematically using the TBA.  相似文献

We study the transport property of diffusion in a finite translationally invariant quantum subsystem described by a tight-binding Hamiltonian with a single energy band. The subsystem interacts with its environment by a coupling expressed in terms of correlation functions which are delta-correlated in space and time. For weak coupling, the time evolution of the subsystem density matrix is ruled by a quantum master equation of Lindblad type. Thanks to the invariance under spatial translations, we can apply the Bloch theorem to the subsystem density matrix and exactly diagonalize the time evolution superoperator to obtain the complete spectrum of its eigenvalues, which fully describe the relaxation to equilibrium. Above a critical coupling which is inversely proportional to the size of the subsystem, the spectrum at given wave number contains an isolated eigenvalue describing diffusion. The other eigenvalues rule the decay of the populations and quantum coherences with decay rates which are proportional to the intensity of the environmental noise. An analytical expression is obtained for the dispersion relation of diffusion. The diffusion coefficient is proportional to the square of the width of the energy band and inversely proportional to the intensity of the environmental noise because diffusion results from the perturbation of quantum tunneling by the environmental fluctuations in this model. An ideal conductor electrode in contact with a semi-infinite two-dimensional two-component plasma in an external potential is considered. The model is mapped onto an integrable sine-Gordon theory with Dirichlet boundary conditions. In this paper we study a catalytically-activated A+A0 reaction taking place on a one-dimensional regular lattice which is brought in contact with a reservoir of A particles. The A particles have a hard-core and undergo continuous exchanges with the reservoir, adsorbing onto the lattice or desorbing back to the reservoir. Some lattice sites possess special, catalytic properties, which induce an immediate reaction between two neighboring A particles as soon as at least one of them lands onto a catalytic site. We consider three situations for the spatial placement of the catalytic sites: regular, annealed random, and quenched random. For all these cases we derive exact results for the partition function, and the disorder-averaged pressure per lattice site. We also present exact asymptotic results for the particles' mean density and the system's compressibility. The model studied here furnishes another example of a 1D Ising-type system with random multisite interactions which admits an exact solution.  相似文献

We present a family of exactly solvable generalizations of the Jaynes-Cummings model involving the interaction of an ensemble of SU(2) or SU(1,1) quasispins with a single boson field. They are obtained from the trigonometric Richardson-Gaudin models by replacing one of the SU(2) or SU(1,1) degrees of freedom by an ideal boson. The application to a system of bosonic atoms and molecules is reported.  相似文献

Working in a boson formalism, we introduce a phonon operator different from that commonly used in RPA calculations. As a major feature, this new phonon operator has a vacuum carrying only a limited number of particle-hole excitations. Therefore, the form of this vacuum is quite different from the exponential one of the RPA. In addition, multiphonon excitations have a particle-hole structure never exceeding in complexity that of this vacuum, no matter how large is the number of phonons involved. We present the results of some preliminary tests performed within the exactly solvable two-level Lipkin model.  相似文献

The model under consideration is a semi-infinite two-dimensional two-component plasma (Coulomb gas), stable against bulk collapse for the dimensionless coupling constant <2, in contact with a dielectric wall of dielectric constant =0. The model is mapped onto an integrable sine-Gordon theory with a free Neumann boundary condition. Using recent results on a reflection relationship between the boundary Liouville and sine-Gordon theories, an explicit expression is derived for the surface tension at a rectilinear dielectric – Coulomb gas interface. This expression reproduces the Debye-Hückel 0 limit and the exact result at the bulk collapse border, the free-fermion point =2, where the surface tension keeps a finite value. The surface collapse, identified with the divergence of the surface tension, occurs at =3.  相似文献

The adiabatic theorem is a useful tool in processing quantum systems slowly evolving, but its practical application depends on the quantitative condition expressed by Hamiltonian's eigenvalues and eigenstates, which is usually taken as a sufficient condition. Recently, the sufficiency of the condition was questioned, and several counterexamples have been reported. An exactly solvable model of a two-level quantum system interacting with spin environment is considered. The interaction is assumed to be such that the state of the environment is conserved. We introduce a solvable stochastic model inspired by granular gases for driven dissipative systems. We characterize far from equilibrium steady states of such systems through the non-Boltzmann energy distribution and compare different measures of effective temperatures. As an example we demonstrate that fluctuation-dissipation relations hold, however, with an effective temperature differing from the effective temperature defined from the average energy.  相似文献

The motion of hopping particles on an infinite chain is investigated. The model is characterized by the correlations between states due to exchange sites. The analytic solutions for this syttem are discussedin general case. For some special cases, exact results are obtained with the help of explicit calculations of propagators and mean square displacement deviation. Both probability propagators for the creation and annihilation of two particles or for the deformation and formation of Frenkel excitons are indicated.  相似文献
