The quantum-mechanical three-body problem is reformulated in two dimensions by use of hyperspherical coordinates and an adiabatic expansion of the Faddeev equations. The effective radial potentials are calculated and their large-distance asymptotic behavior is derived analytically for short-range two-body interactions. Energies and wave functions are computed numerically for various potentials. An infinite series of Efimov states does not exist in two dimensions. Borromean systems, i.e. bound three-body systems without bound binary subsystems, can only appear when a short-range repulsive barrier at finite distance is present in the two-body interaction. The corresponding Borromean state is never spatially extended. For a system of three weakly interacting identical bosons we find two bound states with both binding energies proportional to the two-body binding energy. In the limit of small binding these states are spatially located at the very large distances characterized by the scattering length. Their properties are universal and independent of the details of the potential. We compare throughout with the corresponding properties in three dimensions. We present an approach to analyze recent experimental evidences of Efimov resonant states in mixtures of ultracold gases, by considering two-species three-body atomic systems bound in a Borromean configuration, where all the two-body interactions are unbound. For such Borromean three-body systems, it is shown that a continuum three-body s-wave resonance emerges from an Efimov state as a scattering length or a three-body scale is moved. The energy and width of the resonant state are determined from a scaling function with arguments given by dimension-less energy ratios relating the two-body virtual state subsystem energies with the shallowest three-body bound state. The peculiar behavior of such resonances is that their peaks are expected to move to lower values of the scattering length, with increasing width, as one raises the temperature. For Borromean systems, two resonant peaks are expected in ultralow-temperature regimes, which will disappear at higher energies. It is shown how a Borromean-Efimov excited bound state turns out to a resonant state by tuning the virtual two-body subsystem energies or scattering lengths, with all energies written in units of the next deeper shallowest Efimov state energy. The resonance position and width for the decay into the continuum are obtained as universal scaling functions (limit cycle) of the dimensionless ratios of the two and three-body scales, which are calculated numerically within a zero-range renormalized three-body model.  相似文献

We study the three-body system with short-range interactions characterized by an unnaturally large two-body scattering length. We show that the off-shell scattering amplitude is cutoff independent up to power corrections. This allows us to derive an exact renormalization group equation for the three-body force. We also obtain a renormalized equation for the off-shell scattering amplitude. This equation is invariant under discrete scale transformations. The periodicity of the spectrum of bound states originally observed by Efimov is a consequence of this symmetry. The functional dependence of the three-body scattering length on the two-body scattering length can be obtained analytically using the asymptotic solution to the integral equation. An analogous formula for the three-body recombination coefficient is also obtained.  相似文献

From a Faddeev-type integral equation for three-body bound state, the hypertriton binding energy is calculated by using the nonlocal two-body separable potential with the parameters taken from the scattering data of meson theoretical potential. The effects of n-p and N(n or p)-Λ interactions in three-body bound state are studied and the meson theoretical potentials of Refs.[1-3] are examined. The calculated results are reasonably close to the experimental values. The comparisons of our results with others are made.  相似文献

This paper investigates the collective excitation and stability of low-dimensional Bose--Einstein condensates with two- and three-body interactions by the variational analysis of the time-dependent Gross--Pitaevskii--Ginzburg equation. The spectrum of the low-energy excitation and the effective potential for the width of the condensate are obtained. The results show that: (i) the repulsive two-body interaction among atoms makes the frequency red-shifted for the internal excitation and the repulsive or attractive three-body interaction always makes it blue-shifted; (ii) the region for the existence of the stable bound states is obtained by identifying the critical value of the two- and three-body interactions.  相似文献

The bound state of few-body systems in light nuclei is studied as a three-body problem. The three-body problem is solved following the different approaches of the Faddeev formalism as well as the unitary pole approximation. Separable approximations are introduced to reduce the three-body problem to a set of coupled integral equations. Numerical calculations are carried out for the resulting integral equations and the separable expansion. In the present work, we calculate the ground-state binding energy of the bound three-nucleon system3H. The main interest of the present work is to investigate the sensitivity of the three-body binding energy to different effects in the problem. For this reason, we study the dependence of the three-body binding energy of different forms of local and separable two-body potentials, on the effective range of the two-body potentials, and on the percent of theD state in the deuteron wave function. Also, we test the sensitivity of the three-body binding energy to the considered number of terms from the separable expansion.  相似文献

The pole trajectory of Efimov states for a three-body ααβ system with αα unbound and αβ bound is calculated using a zero-range Dirac-δ potential. It is shown that a three-body bound state turns into a virtual one by increasing the αβ binding energy. This result is consistent with previous results for three equal mass particles. The present approach considers the n-n-18C halo nucleus. However, the results have good perspective to be tested and applied in ultracold atomic systems, where one can realize such three-body configuration with tunable two-body interaction.  相似文献

We study three-body entanglement induced by spontaneous emission in a three two-level atoms system by using the entanglement tensor approach. The results show that the amount of entanglement is strongly dependent on the initial state of the system and the species of atoms. The three-body entanglement is the result of the coherent superposition of the two-body entanglements. The larger the two-body entanglement is, the stronger the three-body entanglement is. On the other hand, if there exists a great difference in three two-body entanglement measures, the three-body entanglement is very weak. We also find that the maximum of the two-body entanglement obtained with nonidentical atoms is greater than that obtained with identical atoms via adjusting the difference in atomic frequency.  相似文献

Atom-dimer scattering below the three-body breakup threshold is studied for a system of three identical bosons. The atom-dimer scattering length and the energy of the most weakly bound three-body state are shown to be strongly correlated. An appropriate rescaling of the observables reveals the subtlety of the correlation and serves to identify universal trends in the unitary limit of divergent two-body scattering length. The correlation provides a new quantitative measure of the degree of universality in three-body systems with short-ranged interactions, as well as a consistency check of effective field theories and other theoretical models.  相似文献

The Faddeev equation for the three-body bound state with two- and three-body forces is solved directly as three-dimensional integral equation. The numerical feasibility and stability of the algorithm, which does not employ partial wave decomposition is demonstrated. The three-body binding energy and the full wave function are calculated with Malfliet-Tjon-type two-body potentials and scalar two-meson exchange three-body forces. For two- and three- body forces of ranges and strengths typical of nuclear forces the single-particle momentum distribution and the two-body correlation function are similar to the ones found for realistic nuclear forces.  相似文献

We discuss renormalization of the non-relativistic three-body problem with short-range forces. The problem is non-perturbative at momenta of the order of the inverse of the two-body scattering length. An infinite number of graphs must be summed, which leads to a cutoff dependence that does not appear in any order in perturbation theory. We argue that this cutoff dependence can be absorbed in one local three-body force counterterm and compute the running of the three-body force with the cutoff. This allows a calculation of the scattering of a particle and the two-particle bound state if the corresponding scattering length is used as input. We also obtain a model-independent relation between binding energy of a shallow three-body bound state and this scattering length. We comment on the power counting that organizes higher-order corrections and on relevance of this result for the effective field theory program in nuclear and molecular physics.  相似文献

The three-body recombination coefficient of an ultracold atomic system, together with the corresponding two-body scattering length a, allow us to predict the energy E3 of the shallow trimer bound state, using a universal scaling function. The production of dimers in trapped Bose-Einstein condensates, from three-body recombination processes, in the regime of short magnetic pulses near a Feshbach resonance, is also studied in line with the experimental observation.  相似文献

The trajectory of the first excited Efimov state is investigated by using a renormalized zero-range three-body model for a system with two bound and one virtual two-body subsystems. The approach is applied to nn18C, where the n–nnn virtual energy and the three-body ground state are kept fixed. It is shown that such three-body excited state goes from a bound to a virtual state when the n18C binding energy is increased. Results obtained for the n19C elastic cross-section at low energies also show dominance of an S-matrix pole corresponding to a bound or virtual Efimov state. It is also presented a brief discussion of these findings in the context of ultracold atom physics with tunable scattering lengths.  相似文献

The inversion of the three energy equations, i.e. for the nuclear total energy, the sum of occupied single-particle state energies and the saturation condition, using the experimental data in 16O and 40Ca, is carried out to determine whether three-body effective interactions are necessary in addition to density independent and dependent two-body interactions. In order to fit the data both in a non-relativistic and a relativistic framework, the three-body interaction energy is found to be large and repulsive. We also show that density-dependent two-body effective interactions, which are another requisite in the non-relativistic potential theory, are not necessarily needed in the relativistic mean field framework but allow to increase the effective nucleon mass.  相似文献

Molecular dynamics simulation has been performed to obtain pressure, radial distribution function, and self-diffusion coefficient of fluid methane using one site OPLS (optimized potentials for liquid simulations), five sites OPLS-SITE, and two-body HFD (Hartree-Fock dispersion)-like potentials. To take higher-body forces into account, three-body potential of Hauschild and Prausnitz (1993) has been used with the two-body HFD-like potential. The significance of this work is that the three-body potential of Hauschild and Prausnitz extended as a function of density and temperature and used with the HFD-like potential to improve the prediction of the results of pressure of fluid methane without requiring an expensive three-body calculation. The molecular dynamics simulation of methane has been also used to determine a new equation of state. The results are in a good agreement with experimental and theoretical values.  相似文献

Because of the Efimov effect the three-body bound state contribution to the cluster coefficients diverges, if the pair interaction develops a zero energy two-body bound state. It is shown for a quantum Lorentz gas model and a Born-Oppenheimer model of a gas mixture that this divergence is cancelled by the continuum contribution. The behaviour of the third cluster coefficient of the Lorentz gas at extreme temperatures is discussed.  相似文献

We combine halo/cluster effective field theory (H/CEFT) and the Gamow shell model (GSM) to describe the 0+ ground state of 6He as a three-body halo system. We use two-body interactions for the neutron-alpha particle and two-neutron pairs obtained from H/CEFT at leading order, with parameters determined from scattering in the p3/2 and s0 channels, respectively. The three-body dynamics of the system is solved using the GSM formalism, where the continuum states are incorporated in the shell model valence space. We find that in the absence of three-body forces the system collapses, since the binding energy of the ground state diverges as cutoffs are increased. We show that addition at leading order of a three-body force with a single parameter is sufficient for proper renormalization and to fix the binding energy to its experimental value.  相似文献

We investigate exact nonlinear matter wave functions with odd and even parities in the framework of quasi-two-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) with spatially modulated cubic–quintic nonlinearities and harmonic potential. The existence condition for these exact solutions requires that the minimum energy eigenvalue of the corresponding linear Schrödinger equation with harmonic potential is the cutoff value of the chemical potential λ. The competition between two-body and three-body interactions influences the energy of the localized state. For attractive two-body and three-body interactions, the larger the matter wave order number n, the larger the energy of the corresponding localized state. A linear stability analysis and direct simulations with initial white noise demonstrate that, for the same state (fixed n), increasing the number of atoms can add stability. A quasi-stable ground-state matter wave is also found for repulsive two-body and three-body interactions. We also discuss the experimental realization of these results in future experiments. These results are of particular significance to matter wave management in higher-dimensional BECs.  相似文献

Bethe–Salpeter and light-front bound state equations for three scalar particles interacting by scalar exchange-bosons are solved in ladder truncation. In contrast to two-body systems, the three-body binding energies obtained in these two approaches differ significantly from each other: the ladder kernel in light-front dynamics underbinds by approximately a factor of two compared to the ladder Bethe–Salpeter equation. By taking into account three-body forces in the light-front approach, generated by two exchange-bosons in flight, we find that most of this difference disappears; for small exchange masses, the obtained binding energies coincide with each other.  相似文献
