The fundamental motivation to study the non-mesonic weak decay (NMWD) of hypernuclei is that it provides the unique means for study of baryon–baryon weak interaction in SU3 f symmetry group. The new channel of NMWD, namely the recently confirmed three-body channel, seems to have a surprisingly big branching ratio so that it makes its accurate measurement prerequisite of the baryon–baryon weak interaction study. We report a new result of ${\Gamma_{2N}(^{11}_{\Lambda} {\rm B})}$ from E508 experiment of KEK-PS, though preliminary yet, which agrees with the previous result of ${^{12}_{\Lambda}}$ C from the same experiment, those from FINUDA experiment and those of the recent theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The unzipping process of double-stranded DNA is analysed using a discrete model at the base level [Chin. Phys. Lett. 22 (2005)1540]. The numerical results are consistent with the experimental observations on the force-displacement behaviour including the sequence-dependence. We find that the hydrogen bond interaction in a base pair is crucially important to the force-displacement profile.  相似文献

It has recently been shown that time-like spherical collapse of a physical fluid in General Relativity does not permit formation of trapped surfaces. This result followed from the fact that the formation of a trapped surface in a physical fluid would cause the time-like world lines of the collapsing fluid to become null at the would-be trapped surface, thus violating the Principle of Equivalence in General Theory of Relativity (GTR). For the case of the spherical collapse of a physical fluid, the no trapped surface condition 2GM(r, t)/R(r, t) c 2<1 was found to be required to be satisfied in all regions of spacetime, where R(r, t) is the invariant circumference variable, r is a co-moving radial coordinate and M(r, t) is the gravitational mass confined within the radius r. The above result was obtained by treating the problem from the viewpoint of an internal co-moving observer at radius r. The boundary of the fluid at r s=R s(r s, t) must also behave in a similar manner, and an external stationary observer should be able to obtain a similar no trapped surface relationship. Accordingly, we generalize this analysis by studying the problem of a time-like collapsing radiating plasma from the point of view of the exterior stationary observer. We find the Principle of Equivalence implies that the physical surface surrounding the plasma must obey 1/(1+z s)>0, where z s is the surface red shift seen by a zero-angular momentum observer. When this condition is applied to the first integral of the time-time component of the Einstein equation, it leads to the no trapped surface condition 2GM(r s, t)/R(r s, t) c 2<1 consistent with the condition obtained above for the interior co-moving metric. The Principle of Equivalence enforces the no trapped surface condition by constraining the physics of the general relativistic radiation transfer process in a manner that requires it to establish and maintain an Eddington limited secular equilibrium on the dynamics of the collapsing radiating surface so as to always keep the physical surface of the collapsing object outside of its Schwarzschild radius. The important physical implication of the no trapped surface condition is that galactic black hole candidates GBHC do not possess event horizons and hence do possess intrinsic magnetic fields. In this context the spectral characteristics of galactic black hole candidates offer strong evidence that their central nuclei are highly red-shifted Magnetospheric Eternally Collapsing Objects (MECO) within the framework of General Relativity.  相似文献

We presents the analysis of ring-like and jet-like events in terms of Scaled Factorial Moments (SFMs) in one dimensional space up to the sixth order of moments for ^32S-AgBr interactions at 200 AGeV energy. The study reveals a power law growth of SFMs with decreasing bin width of the azimuthal distribution in the ^32S- AgBr data at 200 AGeV in both the cases. It is seen that strong intermittent pattern is revealed only in jet-like events.  相似文献

As one of the key properties of the Higgs boson, the Higgs total width is sensitive to the global profile of the Higgs boson couplings, and thus new physics would modify the Higgs width. We investigate the total width in various new physics models, including various scalar extensions, composite Higgs models, and the fraternal twin Higgs model. Typically, the Higgs width is smaller than the standard model value due to mixture with other scalars if the Higgs is elementary, or curved Higgs field space for the composite Higgs. On the other hand, except for the possible invisible decay mode, the enhanced Yukawa coupling in the two Higgs doublet model or the exotic fermion embeddings in the composite Higgs could enhance the Higgs width greatly. The precision measurement of the Higgs total width at the high-luminosity LHC can be used to discriminate certain new physics models.  相似文献

When spontaneous particle creation occurs in a strong gravitational field, it seems clear on physical grounds that the particle creation must back-react on the gravitation field. It is generally believed that in the semiclassical approximation this effect can be described by assigning an effective stress energy to the created particles, which acts as a source of the gravitational field via Einstein's equation. In this essay, I discuss an axiomatic approach for determining the renormalized value of this effective stress energy.This essay was awarded the third prize for 1977 by the Gravity Research Foundation.  相似文献

We develop a dynamical system approach for the Zhang model of self-organized criticality, for which the dynamics can be described either in terms of iterated function systems or as a piecewise hyperbolic dynamical system of skew-product type. In this setting we describe the SOC attractor, and discuss its fractal structure. We show how the Lyapunov exponents, the Haussdorf dimensions, and the system size are related to the probability distribution of the avalanche size via the Ledrappier–Young formula.  相似文献

We report a study of the cholesteric phase in monodisperse suspensions of the rodlike virus fd sterically stabilized with the polymer polyethylene glycol (PEG). After coating the virus with neutral polymers, the phase diagram and nematic order parameter of the fd-PEG system then become independent of ionic strength. Surprisingly, the fd-PEG suspensions not only continue to exhibit a cholesteric phase, which means that the grafted polymer does not screen all chiral interactions between rods, but paradoxically the cholesteric pitch of this sterically stabilized fd-PEG system varies with ionic strength. Furthermore, we observe that the cholesteric pitch decreases with increasing viral contour length, in contrast to theories which predict the opposite trend. Different models of the origin of chirality in colloidal liquid crystals are discussed.  相似文献

We examine the local geometry of a simulated glass-forming polymer melt. Using the Voronoi construction, we find that the distributions of Voronoi volume P(v(V)) and asphericity P(a) appear to be universal properties of dense liquids, supporting the use of packing approaches to understand liquid properties. We also calculate the average free volume along a path of constant density and find that extrapolates to zero at the same temperature T0 that the extrapolated relaxation time diverges. We relate to the Debye-Waller factor, which is measurable by neutron scattering.  相似文献

We study kinetic properties of simple mechanical models of deterministic diffusion like the scattering of a point particle in a billiard of Lorentz type and the multibaker area-preserving map. We show how dynamical chaos and, in particular, chaotic scattering are related to the transport property of diffusion. Moreover, we show that the Liouvillian dynamics of the multibaker map can be decomposed into the eigenmodes of diffusive relaxation associated with the Ruelle resonances of the Perron-Frobenius operator.  相似文献

We give an account, at nonexpert and quantitative level, of physics behind the CMB temperature anisotropy and polarization and their peculiar features. We discuss, in particular, how cosmological parameters are determined from the CMB measurements and their combinations with other observations. We emphasize that CMB is the major source of information on the primordial density perturbations and, possibly, gravitational waves, and discuss the implication for our understanding of the extremely early Universe.  相似文献

Which acoustic properties of the speech signal differ between rhythmically prominent syllables and non-prominent ones? A production experiment was conducted to identify these acoustic properties. Subjects read out repetitive text to a metronome, trying to match stressed syllables to its beat. The analysis searched for the function of the speech signal that best predicts the timing of the metronome ticks. The most important factor in this function is found to be the contrast in loudness between a syllable and its neighbors. The prominence of a syllable can be deduced from the specific loudness in an (approximately) 360 ms window centered on the syllable in question relative to an (approximately) 800-ms-wide symmetric window.  相似文献

The question of the cause of inertial reaction forces and the validity of Mach's principle are investigated. A recent claim that the cause of inertial reaction forces can be attributed to an interaction of the electrical charge of elementary particles with the hypothetical quantum mechanical zero-point fluctuation electromagnetic field is shown to be untenable. It fails to correspond to reality because the coupling of electric charge to the electromagnetic field cannot be made to mimic plausibly the universal coupling of gravity and inertia to the stress-energy-momentum (i.e., matter) tensor. The gravitational explanation of the origin of inertial forces is then briefly laid out, and various important features of it explored in the last half-century are addressed.  相似文献
