(Determination of seven food preservatives by high-performance liquid chromatography.) Solvent-programmed h.p.l.c. is applied for the determination of sorbic, benzoic and salicylic acids and p-hydroxybenzoic acid as well as three of its esters, singly or in mixture; quantitative separation takes less than 20 min. Recoveries varied from 90.9 to 99.4% for the concentration range 200–1000 ppm when the method was applied to mayonnaise.  相似文献

The capabilities of high-performance liquid chromatography (h.p.l.c.) for the determination of phenolic compounds in 80% ethanol extracts from plant material are described. A reversed-phase column was used and elution was done with a linear gradient from 0.01 M phosphoric acid up to methanol. The efficiency of the method was studied via determination limits, defined as the minimum concentration of a compound (μg of compound per gram of extracted dry plant material) necessary to provide 90% probability that the relative error on the determination of the compound in an extract from a plant sample taken at random is < 10%. These limits take into account matrix interferences as a source of error, and were calculated with a minicomputer for the determination of 19 phenolic compounds in plant extracts. For good determinations, the concentrations of the components should be in the range 1–10 mg g?1 of dry plant material. Separating the extracts into different chemical groups (on ion-exchange materials) prior to h.p.l.c. decreases the determination limits about five times. The dependence of determination limits on the u.v. characteristics of the compound, the sample clean-up, and the column characteristics are discussed quantitatively by means of a simple empirical equation.  相似文献

For the determination of nitrate in suspended particulate matter (s.p.m.), high-performance liquid chromatography (h.p.l.c.) with a u.v. detector at 210 mm gives precise and accurate results. Chloride, bromate, iodide, nitrite, thiocyanate and various cations do not interfere. Calibration graphs are linear over the range 0–20 ppm of nitrat-enitrogen, and the limit of detection is 0.25 ng of nitrate-nitrogen. The coefficients of variation at 5.0- and 10.0-ppm levels are 3.4 and 2.9%, respectively. Results obtained by the h.p.l.c. method and by two 2,4-xylenol spectrophotometric methods for aqueous extracts of s.p.m. are compared. Agreement is generally good, particularly when choride is removed in the 2,4-xylenol method, but the spectrophotometric methods are much more prone to interference.  相似文献

A method for 4-methylimidazole (4MI) extraction and quantitation in body fluids and forage samples was developed. The procedures involve ion-pair extraction of the compound with the quantitation done by ion-pair liquid chromatography. The results indicate that this high-performance liquid chromatographic method is sensitive, reproducible and more rapid than others that have been previously used. The mean recovery of 4MI from plasma and tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) hay samples were above 95 and 85%, respectively. The versatility of the procedure makes it suitable for the determination of 4MI in body fluids and in forage samples.  相似文献

An ion-pair on-line solid-phase extraction procedure using C8 extraction disks, suitable for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis is developed to determine quaternary ammonium herbicides (quats) in water samples. The separation of these compounds was performed using ion-pair chromatography with heptafluorobutyric acid (15 mM, pH 3.3) and acetonitrile gradient elution. Detection was carried out using a quadrupole mass spectrometer. Water sample volumes up to 50 ml can be preconcentrated with recoveries higher than 70%. Good precision and accuracy (day-to-day and run-to-run) were obtained and the detection limits ranged from 6 to 85 ng l(-1). The proposed on-line ion-pair solid-phase method enables compliance with European Community directives for drinking waters (100 ng l(-1)).  相似文献

A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method has been proposed for the determination of aliphatic and aromatic amines in a variety of environmental samples including wastewater, river water, sea water and sediment samples. The method includes ion-pair extraction with bis-2-ethylhexylphosphate (BEHPA), derivatisation of compounds with isobutyl chloroformate (IBCF) and their GC-MS analysis. Aliphatic and aromatic amines were isolated from aqueous samples using BEHPA as ion-pair reagent and derivatised with IBCF for their chromatographic analysis. Solid-liquid extraction of aliphatic and aromatic amines in sediment samples were performed in Soxhlet apparatus with acidic MeOH and ion-pair extraction with BEHPA were carried out for the isolation of amines followed by derivatisation with IBCF. Aliphatic and aromatic amines were then analysed with GC-MS in both electron impact (EI) and positive and negative ion chemical ionisation (PNICI) mode as their isobutyloxycarbonyl (isoBOC) derivatives. The obtained recoveries ranged from 81.0 to 98.0% and the precision of this method, as indicated by the relative standard deviations (RSDs) was within the range of 0.5 and 4.3%. The detection limits obtained from calculations by using GC-MS results based on S/N = 3 were within the range from 0.07 to 0.50 ng/l.  相似文献

In order to provide antimicrobial activity to cotton, cotton fabrics were treated by montmorillonite (KSF), montmorillonite–dihydroxy ethylene urea (KSF–MDEU), KSF–chitosan (CS) and KSF–CS–MDEU solutions containing 12.5, 25 and 50 ppm silver ion. The effect of modification on the antibacterial activity of cotton fabrics was also evaluated after 10 cycles of washings. MDEU exhibited better antimicrobial activities after washing process. By using 25 ppm silver, KSF and CS modification solution, good performance in terms of antibacterial activity was obtained. The addition of CS and MDEU increased the whiteness index values of cotton fabrics treated with KSF containing different silver concentrations. The characterization of modified cotton samples was done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.  相似文献

A novel spectrophotometric method for the estimation of carbon monoxide at levels from 2 to 250 ppm is presented. The method is empirical and based on formation of a carbonyl complex of ruthenium(II) octaethylporphyrin and measurement of the difference in absorbance at 393.5 nm between this complex and the porphyrin reagent. Oxygen and nitrogen do not interfere and up to 300 ppm of sulphur dioxide and about 1500 ppm of carbon dioxide can be tolerated in determination of carbon monoxide at the 4 and 10 ppm levels. Hydrogen sulphide interferes and must be removed before the determination. The method has been tested over the range 2-45 ppm of carbon monoxide with 16 synthetic and 2 commercial standard air samples. The average error was +/- 3%. Application to urban-air samples and car-exhaust gases yielded acceptable results. The main disadvantages are the tedious preparation of the initial ruthenium(III)-porphyrin compound and the decomposition of the reagent in the presence of hydrazine.  相似文献

Bromazepam, in the form of a cationic iron(II) chelate, can be determined spectrophotometrically at 588 nm with a limit of detection of ca. 10-6 M. When this chelate is ion-paired with perchlorate, it can be extracted into organic solvents such as 1,2-dichloroethane and 4-methyl-2-pentanone, and determined by atomic absorption spectrometry with a limit of detection of 1.5 × 10-5 M bromazepam at the iron resonance 248.3-nm line. Ion-pairs involving the Fe(II), Cu(II) and Co(II) chelates and perchlorate can be separated by h.p.l.c. using a C18 reverse-phase column and a mobile phase of 4:1 water—methanol, with a u.v. detector at 242 nm. This approach allowed for the determination of iron(II) ions in aqueous solution with a limit of detection of 10-8 M. The h.p.l.c. method could also be used to quantify bromazepam spiked in plasma in the concentration range 1–10 μg ml-1, following extraction of bromazepam from plasma and subsequent formation of the iron(II) ion-pair. Copper(II) forms a labile chelate with bromazepam in pH 4.8 acetate buffer which, when subjected to differential pulse voltammetry at the hanging mercury drop electrode, gives rise to a catalytic phenomenon which can be utilised for the determination of bromazepam in the concentration range 10-5–10-9 M.  相似文献

A simple method was developed to detect four stilbene-type disulfonate and one distyrylbiphenyl-type fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) in household laundry detergents and surface waters by ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatography. The FWA concentrations in detergents were measured directly. The contents of FWAs in water samples were extracted by solid-phase extraction (C18-SPE) with ion-pairing reagent, and were then determined by an isocratic ion-pair chromatography (IPC) using a C18 column, applying tetrabutylammonium hydrogensulfate (TBA) as the ion-pairing reagent in mobile phase, and equipped with fluorescence detection. Water samples at various pH conditions for SPE were evaluated. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is precise and sensitive in analyzing FWAs, and enables quantitation of 0.01-0.1 microg/l in 100 ml water samples. The recovery rates of FWAs in spiked water samples were between 73 and 89%, and the precision (RSD) ranged from 2.6 to 8.9%. Over 7200 microg/g of 4,4'-bis(2-sulfostryl)-biphenyl (DSBP) and 2320 microg/g of 4,4'-bis[(4-anilino-6-morpholino-1,3,5-triazine-2-yl)-amino]stilbene-2,2'-disulfonate (DAS1) were detected in household laundry detergents. Trace amounts of DSBP were detected in surface water samples ranging from 0.2 to 3.7 microg/l.  相似文献

A rapid and reliable analytical method, based on ion-pair extraction, clean-up on Envicarb cartridge and detection by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), was developed for determination of 17 per- and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in digested sewage sludge. Envicarb cartridge and six labeled internal standards were selected for the elimination/reduction and correction of matrix effects, respectively. As a result, the matrix effect for perfluorooctane sulfonamides (FOSAs) and perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) with carbon chain length from C6 to C14 was lowered to a range of −14% to +28%. However, the matrix effect for other analytes was still great mainly due to the absence of appropriate internal standard. Mean recoveries of the target analytes based on matrix spikes, at different spike levels (10–300 ng/g), ranged from 70% to 169%. Relative standard deviations (RSDs) were in the range of 2–20% at different spike levels. The limit of quantification (LOQ) ranged between 0.6 and 30 ng/g. The method was successfully applied to several sewage sludge samples from wastewater treatment plants nearby Zürich, Switzerland. In addition, by comparing the accuracy and precision of ion-pair extraction method and methanol extraction method, we further demonstrated that the ion-pair extraction method can be used for the analysis of PFCs in sludge samples. To our knowledge, this is the first study to extract the PFCs in sewage sludge with ion-pair method and to find unsaturated fluorotelomer carboxylic acids (FTUCAs) in sewage sludge.  相似文献

Several hundred samples of human head hair were analyzed to establish the range and variation of mercury concentration in “normal” people and in persons ingesting organic mercury compounds. Instrumental neutron activation analysis was used. The 77 keV line of197Hg was counted on a Ge(Li) detector. The pattern of concentration variation along hair was shown to be a more reliable criterion for hair individualization than average concentration values. The hair mercury contents of “normal” people in uncontaminated areas were 0.1–4 and 1–12 ppm, respectively. People who had ingested a mercury compound but showed no symptoms had hair mercury concentrations of from a few ppm to 300 ppm. Mild symptoms appeared with a 120–600 ppm hair mercury level, moderate with 200–800 ppm, and severe with 400–1600 ppm. There was no correlation with sex or age, except that infants showed more severe symptoms than expected, and people over 55 had mild or no symptoms with hair mercury levels of 1000 ppm and higher.  相似文献

Methods based on fluorimetry and high-performance liquid chromatography (h.p.l.c.) for highly sensitive assay of aromaticl-amino acid decar?ylase are described. Dopamine formed enzymatically from a substrate,l-dihydroxyphenylalanine (l-DOPA), after chromatography on a small column of a cation-exchanger, Toyopak SP, is converted to a fluorescent compound by reaction with 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine. The derivative is measured by direct spectrofluorimetry or by reversed-phase h.p.l.c. with fluorimetric detection. The limits of detection for dopamine formed enzymatically in the direct and h.p.l.c. methods are 15 and 1 pmol per assay tube, respectively. The enzyme in rat liver, kidney, brain, heart, adrenal medula and serum can be precisely assayed.  相似文献

A simple method is presented for the routine analysis of iodide in urine. After a one-step sample clean-up, iodide was separated by ion-pair reversed-phase liquid chromatography and detected electrochemically with a silver electrode. The coefficient of variation of a single analysis of iodide in a pooled urine sample (530 nmol/l) was 7.6%. The detection limit, derived from a signal-to-noise ratio of 3, was 3 pmol, corresponding to 0.06 mumol/l. The recovery of iodide added to urine was 96 +/- 7%. The accuracy of the method was assessed by analysing ten different samples with neutron activation analysis. The data obtained with the two methods showed a high correlation (r = 0.991) and did not differ significantly. Excretion of iodide in samples of 24-h urine from a free-living population was shown to have a log-normal distribution and to be higher in men than in women. The iodide/creatinine ratio was independent of sex and increased with age.  相似文献

The development, optimization and validation of a liquid chromatography–atmospheric pressure photoionization tandem mass spectrometric (LC–APPI/MS/MS) method for the determination of 15 azaarenes (4-azafluorene, benzo[h] and -[f]quinoline, phenanthridine, acridine, 1-azafluoranthene, 4-azapyrene, benz[a]- and -[c]acridine, -10-azabenzo[a]pyrene, 7,9- and 7,10-dimethylbenz[c]acridine, dibenz[a,j]-, -[c,h] and [a,i]acridine) in airborne particulate matter is described. Each compound was detected and quantified operating in multiple reaction monitoring mode. Extraction of azaarenes was achieved using accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) with dichlormethane/methanol (50/50, v/v). After extraction, no additional clean-up procedure like solid phase or liquid/liquid extraction was necessary. Limits of quantification (S/N × 10) ranged from 0.2 pg/μl to 1.4 pg/μl, matrix dependent recoveries were between 57% and 94%, with relative standard deviations from 8% to 17%. Applicability of the method was demonstrated analyzing 10 samples of particulate matter (PM2.5) collected in winter 2008. In all samples dimethylbenz[c]acridines as well as dibenzacridines were below the limit of quantification, concentration of the remaining analytes were in the range from 0.002 ng/m3 to 0.356 ng/m3.  相似文献

A liquid chromatographic (LC) method was developed for determining deoxynivalenol (DON) in whole wheat flour and wheat bran. A 15 g test sample was extracted with acetonitrile-water (84 + 16, v/v) and applied to a Romer MycoSep cleanup column. The eluate was dried and then reconstituted in a 0.1 M phosphate buffer, pH 7.0, and applied to a Vicam DONtest-LC cleanup column. The methanol eluate was chromatographed with a methanol-water (17 + 83, v/v) mobile phase on a C18 column with UV detection at 220 nm. Five replicates at each of 5 fortification levels (0.25, 0.50, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 ppm), plus 5 controls, were determined for both whole wheat flour and wheat bran. For flour, the average recoveries were 72.2-91.5% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 4.9-18.4%. The intra-assay flour recovery was 82.4% with 9.8% RSD. A 5 replicate sample of naturally incurred wheat had an average of 1.1 ppm DON with 6.7% RSD. For bran, average recoveries of fortified samples were 69.5-99.7% with RSDs of 1.7-18.8%. The intra-assay bran recovery was 81.5% with 8.9% RSD. The limit of detection (about 3x noise) for the method is 0.05 ppm; the correlation coefficient (linearity) was >0.9995. The DON peak was clearly identified and easily integrated in the chromatograms.  相似文献

This paper presents an HPLC-MS method for the fully automated determination of a group of naphthalene monosulphonates in environmental water samples. The analytical procedure consisted of on-line ion-pair solid-phase extraction using a PLRP-S precolumn and ion-pair LC separation with triethylamine as ion-pair reagent in both cases. A mass spectrometric detector, coupled to LC through an electrospray interface and operated in negative ion mode, was used. Diagnostic ions usually corresponded to [SO3]- and/or [M-SO2H]- together with [M-H] and/or [M-2H+Na]-. The method was applied to the trace determination of several sulphonates present in tap water, seawater and water from the Ebro river. The analytes were determined at a concentration level between 0.05 and 1 microg l(-1) under selected ion monitoring acquisition by preconcentrating just 15 ml of sample. Naphthalene-1-sulphonate and naphthalene-2-sulphonate were identified and quantified in one of the samples of seawater.  相似文献

This paper investigates the use of NiO particles to enhance the vapour sensing properties of polyethylene adipate (PEA)\carbon black (CB) composite materials. Four PEA\CB suspensions were prepared with 0, 10, 20 and 30 w/w% NiO, respectively. Hypermer PS3 surfactant was shear mixed into each of the suspensions for 300 s to achieve a homogenous dispersion and to prevent reagglommeration of both the CB and NiO particles. A 0.1 μl drop of each composite was deposited between Cu electrodes on a printed circuit board (PCB) substrate using a microlitre syringe. The samples were allowed to dry for 24 h in an oven at 333 K to remove any remaining solvent. After preparation, the sensors were exposed to propanol and butanol at concentrations ranging from 0 to 25 000 ppm in steps of 5000 ppm. The response of the PEA\CB sensors improved significantly as the concentration of NiO particles in the material increased and maximum relative differential responses as high as 37% and 92.8% were recorded after exposure to 25 000 ppm propanol and butanol, respectively. This high response can be explained using the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter along with structural changes in the polymer composite caused by the addition of NiO. This paper concludes that NiO particles can be used as a method to increase the sensitivity of existing conducting polymer composite gas sensing materials.  相似文献

One of the most important problems related to the high background area is that of environmental contamination. Therefore a number of local plants from Kasar in Köprüba?i as referred to high background area, West Anatolia, were investigated for their uranium contents as well as for other elements by using instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). All of the plants except wheat samples contained levels above 0.6 ppm U which is the average background concentration of uranium in the ashed samples of living plant material. Beside the uranium, the concentrations of the other trace elements such as Ce, Ba, Cr, La, Sc, Rb, Fe, Zn, Zr, Eu, Co, Cs, Br, As, Na, K, in the plant ashes were also determined.  相似文献

The derivatization method of thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (TZCA) and methyl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (Me-TZCA) in urine with alcohol/chloroformate was achieved. TZCA and Me-TZCA were derivatized in one step in urine with ethyl chloroformate in 1 min at room temperature. The derivatives of TZCA and Me-TZCA had very good chromatographic properties and offered very sensitive response for gas chromatography-electron impact ionization-mass spectrometry (GC-EI-MS). On the basis of derivatization, the method for simultaneous determination of TZCA and Me-TZCA in human urine was developed. Deuterated Me-TZCA (Me-TZCA-d(4)) was synthesized as the internal standard (IS) for the analysis of urine samples. TZCA and Me-TZCA were derivatized and extracted from urine at pH 9.5 with toluene, and then the dried extract was dissolved with 100 microl ethyl acetate and injected in GC/MS system. The recoveries of TZCA and Me-TZCA were about 102 and 103%, respectively, at the concentration of 0.05 mg/l. The method detection limits (MDL) were 1.0 and 0.5 microg/l, respectively, for TZCA and Me-TZCA in 1 ml human urine. The coefficients of variation of TZCA and Me-TZCA were less than 6% at the concentrations of 0.05 and 0.2 mg/l, respectively. To assess the formation of TZCA during inhalation with formaldehyde (FA) (about 3.1 and 38.1 ppm FA in air), urine samples from rats were taken during 3 days after initiation of treatment. The mean amount of TZCA determined was 0.07 mg/l in control group and 0.18 mg/l during treatment with 3.1 ppm. The TZCA levels increased up to about 1.01 mg/l during treatment with 38.1 ppm. It is planned to study whether urinary TZCA can be used as an indicator in the biological monitoring of exposure to FA.  相似文献
