We use the gauge-gravity duality conjecture to compute spectral functions of the stress-energy tensor in finite-temperature N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the limit of large N(c) and large 't Hooft coupling. The spectral functions exhibit peaks characteristic of hydrodynamic modes at small frequency, and oscillations at intermediate frequency. The nonperturbative spectral functions differ qualitatively from those obtained in perturbation theory. The results may prove useful for lattice studies of transport processes in thermal gauge theories. 相似文献

We have calculated the beta function of the N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory through three-loop order and find that it is zero. The calculation was performed using superspace techniques that also allowed the calculation of the complete three-loop chiral-multiplet propagator, which turned out to be quite simple. These results strongly support the speculations that the theory is finite order-by-order in perturbation theory. 相似文献

We present the result of a full direct component calculation for the planar four-loop anomalous dimension of the Konishi operator in = 4 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Our result confirms the results obtained from superfield and superstring computations,
which take into account finite size corrections to the all-loop asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the integrable models describing
the spectrum of the anomalous dimensions of the gaugeinvariant operators and the spectrum of the string states in the framework
of the gauge/string duality.

We obtain the instanton correction recursion relations for the low energy effective prepotential in pure N=2 SU(n) supersymmetric Yang-Mills gauge theory from Whitham hierarchy and Seiberg-Witten/Whitham equations. These formulae provide us a powerful tool to calculate arbitrary order instanton corrections coefficients from the perturbative contributions of the effective prepotential in Seiberg-Witten gauge theory. We apply this idea to evaluate one- and two- order instanton corrections coefficients explicitly in SU(n) case in detail through the dynamical scale parameter expressed in terms of Riemann's theta-function. 相似文献

Ratios of azimuthal angle correlations between two jets produced at large rapidity separation are studied in the N = 4 maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills (MSYM) theory. It is shown that these observables, which directly prove the SL(2,C) symmetry present in gauge theories in the Regge limit, exhibit an excellent perturbative convergence. They are compared to those calculated in QCD for different renormalization schemes concluding that the momentum-substraction scheme with the Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie scale-fixing procedure captures the bulk of the MSYM results. 相似文献

We describe an infinite-dimensional algebra of hidden symmetries of supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory. Our derivation is based on a generalization of the supertwistor correspondence. Using
the latter, we construct an infinite sequence of flows on the solution space of the SYM equations. The dependence of the SYM fields on the parameters along the flows can be recovered by solving the equations
of the hierarchy. We embed the SYM equations in the infinite system of the hierarchy equations and show that this SYM hierarchy is associated with an infinite
set of graded symmetries recursively generated from supertranslations. Presumably, the existence of such nonlocal symmetries
underlies the observed integrable structures in quantum SYM theory.
