Central oscillating multipliers on compact Lie groups

Fefferman and Stein and Wainger proved optimal L ^p boundedness for certain oscillating multipliers on ${\mathbb{R}^{d}}$ . In this article, we prove analogues of their results for a compact Lie group.     

Fourier multipliers on compact groups

In a recent paperIan Inglis gives some sufficient conditions for a function on a totally disconnected compact Abelian group to be anL ^p Fourier multiplier. His proof depends on an interpolation theorem ofE. M. Stein. In this note we prove a generalization ofInglis' theorem. Our result is deduced from a factorization theorem, the proof of which is elementary, and a standard multiplier theorem.This work was done while the second-named author held a visiting appointment at the University of Washington. On extensions of representations for compact Lie groups

Let H be a closed normal subgroup of a compact Lie group G such that G/H is connected. This paper provides a necessary and sufficient condition for every complex representation of H to be extendible to G, and also for every complex G-vector bundle over the homogeneous space G/H to be trivial. In particular, we show that the condition holds when the fundamental group of G/H is torsion free.     

Boundedness of some multipliers on stratified Lie groups

Let ￡ be the sub-Laplacian on a stratified Lie group G, and let m be a function defined on [0,+∞). We give the boundedness of the multiplier operators m(￡) on Herz-type Hardy spaces on G.     

Lipschitz spaces on compact Lie groups

We prove the equivalence between Lipschitz spaces on a compact Lie group defined in terms of Weierstrass integrals and by means of higher order difference operators.     

WeightedH p multipliers on locally compact Vilenkin groups

LetG be a locally compact Vilenkin group. We give a maximal function characterization of the weightedH ^p spaces overG, and give a Hörmander type multiplier theorem for these spaces.     

On local central lacunary sets for compact Lie groups

Suppose thatG is a compact Lie group and that Γ denotes a maximal set of inequivalent irreducible unitary continuous representations ofG. In a recent paperCecchini showed that a necessary (and sufficient) condition for \(E \subseteq \Gamma \) to be a local central Λ(4) set is that sup{d(γ)∶γ∈E}<∞, whered(γ) is the dimension of γ. The main result below is thatevery subset of Γ is local central Λ (2). In addition, whenG isU(n) orSU(n), n≥2, it is shown that every subset of Γ is local central Λ(p) for allp<2+2/n. An example ofRider shows that this is best possible.     

On compact semisimple Lie groups as 2-plectic manifolds

In this paper a compact and semisimple Lie group G is considered endowed with a 2-plectic structure ω, induced by the Killing form. We show that the Lie group of 2-plectomorphisms of G is finite dimensional and compact, and hence the Darboux’s theorem fails to be true for this 2-plectic structure. Also it is shown that ω induces a left-invariant \({\mathfrak{g}^{*}}\) valued 2-form which is proportional to dΘ, where Θ is the Cartan–Maurer 1-form on G. At last we consider the action of G on its tangent bundle which is furnished with the 2-plectic structure ω ^c , the complete lift of ω, and calculate covariant momentum map of this action.     

On the string topology category of compact Lie groups

We answer a question of Blumberg, Cohen and Teleman, showing that the Chas–Sullivan loop homology is the Hochschild cohomology of any object in the rational string topology category of a compact, simply connected, Lie group G. Moreover, we show that the answer follows from the classification of the localizing subcategories of the derived category of chains on the based loops of G, which we achieve using the stratification machinery of Benson, Iyengar and Krause. For integral coefficients we get similar results for G a simply-connected special unitary group.     

Definable groups and compact p-adic Lie groups

We formulate p-adic analogues of the o-minimal group conjecturesfrom the works of Hrushovski, Peterzil and Pillay [J. Amer.Math. Soc., to appear] and Pillay [J. Math. Log. 4 (2004) 147–162];that is, we formulate versions that are appropriate for groupsG definable in (saturated) P-minimal fields. We then restrictour attention to saturated models K of Th(_p) and Th(_{p, an}),record some elementary observations when G is defined over thestandard model _p, and then make a detailed analysis of the casewhere G = E(K) for E an elliptic curve over K. Essentially,our P-minimal conjectures hold in these contexts and, moreover,our case study of elliptic curves yields counterexamples toa more naive direct translation of the o-minimal conjectures.     

Spectral multipliers for sub-Laplacians with drift on Lie groups

We study spectral multipliers of right invariant sub-Laplacians with drift on a connected Lie group G. The operators we consider are self-adjoint with respect to a positive measure , whose density with respect to the left Haar measure λ_G is a nontrivial positive character of G. We show that if p≠2 and G is amenable, then every spectral multiplier of extends to a bounded holomorphic function on a parabolic region in the complex plane, which depends on p and on the drift. When G is of polynomial growth we show that this necessary condition is nearly sufficient, by proving that bounded holomorphic functions on the appropriate parabolic region which satisfy mild regularity conditions on its boundary are spectral multipliers of . Module homomorphisms and multipliers on locally compact quantum groups

For a Banach algebra A with a bounded approximate identity, we investigate the A-module homomorphisms of certain introverted subspaces of A^∗, and show that all A-module homomorphisms of A^∗ are normal if and only if A is an ideal of A∗∗. We obtain some characterizations of compactness and discreteness for a locally compact quantum group G. Furthermore, in the co-amenable case we prove that the multiplier algebra of L¹(G) can be identified with M(G). As a consequence, we prove that G is compact if and only if LUC(G)=WAP(G) and M(G)≅Z(LUC^∗(G)); which partially answer a problem raised by Volker Runde.     

Subelliptic estimates on compact semisimple Lie groups

In this paper, we consider a natural subelliptic structure in semisimple, compact and connected Lie groups, and estimate the constant in the so-called subelliptic Friedrichs-Knapp-Stein inequality, which has implications in the regularity theory of p-energy minimizers.     

Time optimal factorizations on compact Lie groups

In this paper we study the relationship between factorization problems on SU(2ⁿ) or more generally on compact Lie groups G and time optimal control problems. Both types of problems naturally arise in physics, such as in quantum computing and in controlling coupled spin systems (NMR‐spectroscopy). In the first part we show that certain factorization problems can be reformulated as time optimal control problems on G. In the second part a necessary condition for the existence of finite optimal factorizations is discussed. At the end we illustrate our results by an example on Euler angle factorizations. Spherical resolutions for compact Lie groups

Let G be a compact Lie group and A a G-space. When does there exist a relative G-CW-complex (X,A) with free G-action on X\A, such that X has the homology of a sphere? This paper gives sufficient conditions, which can be used for the construction of homotopy representations.     

Nonhomogeneous G-spaces of compact Lie groups

A duality theorem for a compact G-manifold M of a compact Lie group G is proved. For the case when all the orbits in M are principal, it is proved that the quotient space of the complexification of M by the action of the associated algebraic group G^c is isomorphic to the quotient space of M by the action of G.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol, 13, No. 4, pp. 523–529, April, 1973.This paper was completed under the guidance of A.
