Abstract

On the basis of experimental results obtained in the present and some other works a model of melting of rare gas solids within bubbles formed in a crystalline metal matrix as a result of ion implantation is proposed. Rare gas solid is supposed to melt on heating at the expense of the bubble volume expansion by emission of a dislocation loop. On this basis the melting temperature can be estimated as one which is enough to provide for a pressure inside a bubble sufficient for the initiation of the dislocation loop punching. Values of melting temperatures obtained in this way are in good agreement with available experimental data.  相似文献

In the present paper two examples of self-organization in solids under irradiation are considered on the basis of original mechanisms, namely, the ordering of voids in void lattices under high temperature irradiation and the alignment of gas bubbles in bubble lattices under low-temperature gas atom implantation. The ordering of cavities (i.e. voids or gas bubbles) is proposed to arise due to a dissipative interaction between cavities induced by the interstitial dislocation loop absorption and punching, respectively, which represent anisotropic mechanisms of atomic transport.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that as a result of the Greenwood-Foreman-Rimmer loop punching mechanism applied for helium bubble growth in nickel implanted with 5 keV He+ ions at 273 K, a considerable amount of helium remains outside the bubbles which are visible in a transmission electron microscope (TEM). It is also shown that even when it is assumed that there is an energy barrier with an upper limit equal to the formation energy of a self-interstitial atom, not all implanted helium can be accumulated in the bubbles below the critical dose for blistering.

The experimental observation of bubble growth in a helium pre-implanted nickel specimen during 1 MeV e? irradiation may demonstrate that indeed a significant amount of helium remains between the bubbles visible in TEM.  相似文献

Abstract

Helium clustering in alpha irradiated copper has been investigated by positron annihilation spectroscopy. Pure copper samples have been homogeneously helium implanted using a cyclotron, yielding helium concentrations of 100 appm and 400 appm. Post-implantation positron lifetime and Doppler broadened annihilation lineshape measurements have been carried out on these Cu samples as a function of isochronal annealing temperature. An annealing stage observed in the isochronal annealing curve viz., a marked reduction in the resolved lifetime τ2 and an increase of its intensity I 2, is explained as due to the formation of helium bubble embryos. At higher annealing temperatures, τ2 corresponding to helium bubbles increases and saturates while its intensity I 2 decreases, indicating an increase in the size of the bubble with a concomitant decrease in the bubble concentration. This stage is interpreted to be the bubble growth stage. From an analysis of positron lifetime parameters in the growth stage, helium stom density, bubble size and bubble concentration have been deduced at various annealing temperatures. The bubble characteristics are found to be affected by the helium dose. The present results on direct helium implanted Cu are compared with those of our earlier study on n-irradiated Cu-B, where helium was introduced using 10B(n, α)7 Li reaction.  相似文献

Critical instability conditions are found for a gas bubble in a liquid dielectric in a uniform external electrostatic field E 0. It is shown that they depend both on the magnitude of E 0 and on the properties of the liquid, as well as on the gas pressure in the bubble. In a linear approximation with respect to the square of the eccentricity of an equilibrium spheroidal form, the equilibrium eccentricity of the bubble exceeds the equilibrium eccentricity of a drop in the field E 0. 为了深入认识α-Fe中氦泡冲出位错环的微观机制,有必要研究α-Fe中氦泡冲出位错环时的极限压强特性.本文建立金属-氦泡的立方体型代表性体积单元模型,针对8种不同初始半径的球形氦泡,以初始氦空位比为变量,开展分子动力学模拟,得到了各模型中位错环开始形成时的氦泡极限压强和临界氦空位比.研究结果表明:对于无量纲半径介于2—10的氦泡,冲出位错环时的氦泡极限压强和临界氦空位比均随着氦泡初始半径的增大而非线性减小;基体中氦泡冲出位错环时的临界氦空位比具有明显的尺寸效应;初始时刻(0 ps),在经过立方体型模型中心的横截面上,氦泡周围Fe原子阵列的剪应力集中和最大剪应力出现在对角线与氦泡边界交点(即45°)处,并且关于横截面上平行于边的两条对折线对称分布,剪应力集中区的范围和最大剪应力均随着初始氦空位比的增大而增大;位错环冲出方向对应最大剪应力方向.本文的研究加深了对金属中氦泡物理特性的认识,为后续分析氦泡对材料宏观物理和力学性质的影响奠定了有益的基础.  相似文献

Abstract

The energy shift of the He 11S0?21P1 transition, ΔE(n), can be used to determine the density, n, of He in bubbles in metals. A self-consistent band structure calculation for solid fcc He yields a linear relationship ΔE=C.n with C th=22 × 10?3 eV nm3. Systematic electron energy loss spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy studies of He bubbles in Al for various He doses and temperatures result in Cexp=(24±8).10?3 eV nm3 in agreement with theory. The analysis is consistent with the assumption that dislocation loop punching is the dominant bubble growth mechanism during high-dose room temperature implantation. The application to He bubbles in Ni indicates a maximum He density of n=0.2 × 103 nm?3 for which He should be solid at room temperature.  相似文献

We reinterpret an instability in a two-dimensional free foam cluster previously discussed by Weaire et al. (Eur. Phys. J. E 7, 123 (2002)) in terms of the excess pressure in the bubbles. We conclude that in a free foam cluster no bubble can have a pressure below that of the surrounding gas. We provide the high speed flow visualization and dynamic measurement results for the U-shaped and the inverted U-shaped heat driven pumps. The U-shaped heat driven pumps at the high heating powers consist of a succession of tiny bubble nucleation, growth and coalescence process. Once the “larger” spherical bubble or the bubble slug forms, it expands quickly in both upstream and downstream directions. The increased pressure leads to the liquid discharge through the outlet check valve. When the advancing vapor/liquid interface reaches a higher position in the vertical discharge branch, the condensation heat transfer in the discharge branch shrinks the bubble slug, leading to the decreased pressure and initiating the open of the inlet check valve. Thus the fresh liquid can be sucked into the system. Heat driven pumps operating at the low heating powers display the similar process. However, two major differences are identified: (1) A full cycle includes a set of positive pressure pulses corresponding to a set of tiny bubble nucleation, growth and coalescence process in each substage. Only at the end of the cycle, an apparent negative pressure pulse is created. (2) For each substage in each cycle, when the newly formed bubble slug is chasing the ahead “old” bubble slug, the deformed liquid bridge is formed due to the gravity force effect. When the two bubble slugs are merging together, a wave vapor/liquid interface occurs along the bottom of the capillary tube. For the inverted U-shaped heat driven pumps, there are fewer positive pressure pulses included, corresponding to lesser number of new bubble nucleation, growth, and coalescence process. The bubble slug in the capillary tube is very standard with the smooth vapor/liquid interface. The cycle periods and the pumping flow rates are given versus the heating powers.  相似文献

主要利用分子动力学方法模拟计算了含氦泡的铝的弹性性质,首先,应用第一性原理的方法计算了Al-He的相互作用势.其次,从两个不同的方面研究了氦泡对铝弹性常数的影响,一是不同的氦泡尺寸(直径分别是16, 20, 25, 30和3.5nm),二是不同的氦泡压力(即固定氦泡大小,氦泡内氦原子的个数与空位的比分别大约是5%,15%,45% 和85%).结果表明弹性常数随着氦泡半径的增大而减小,对于固定大小的氦泡,随着氦泡内的压力变化弹性常数基本保持恒定.最后通过建立弹性复合体模型,得到的解析解定性上解释了氦泡的大小以及内压对铝的弹性常数的影响,与分子动力学模拟结果吻合. 关键词: 辐照损伤 氦泡 分子动力学 弹性常数  相似文献

A mathematical model is constructed for the bubble dynamics, in which the interphase surface variation is presented in the form of a series in spherical harmonics, and the equations are written with the accuracy up to the squared amplitude of the distortion of the spherical shape of the bubble. In the oscillation regimes close to periodic sonoluminescence of a single bubble in a standing acoustic wave, the character of air bubble oscillations in water was studied depending on the bubble initial radius and the amplitude of the liquid pressure variation. It was found that non-spherical oscillations of bounded amplitude can take place outside the region of linearly stable spherical oscillations. Both the oscillations with a period equal to one or several periods of the liquid pressure variation and aperiodic oscillations are observed. It is shown that neglecting the distortions in the form of spherical harmonics with large numbers (i > 3) may lead to a change of oscillation regimes. The influence of distortions on the bubble surface shape for the harmonics with i > 8 is insignificant.  相似文献

We study non-linear bubble oscillations driven by an acoustic pressure with the bubble being immersed in a viscoelastic, Phan-Thien–Tanner liquid. Solution is provided numerically through a method which is based on a finite element discretization of the Navier–Stokes flow equations. The proposed computational approach does not rely on the solution of the simplified Rayleigh–Plesset equation, is not limited in studying only spherically symmetric bubbles and provides coupled solutions for the velocity, stress fields and bubble interface. We present solutions for non-spherical bubbles, with asphericity being addressed by means of Legendre polynomials or associated Legendre functions. A parametric investigation of the bubble dynamical oscillatory response as a function of the fluid rheological properties shows that the amplitude of bubble oscillations drastically increases as liquid elasticity (quantified by the Deborah number) increases or as liquid viscosity decreases (quantified by the Reynolds number). Extensive numerical calculations demonstrate that increasing elasticity and/or viscosity of the surrounding liquid tend to stabilize the shape anisotropy of an initially non-spherical bubble. Results are shown for pressure amplitudes 0.2–2 MPa and Deborah, Reynolds numbers in the intervals of 1–8 and 0.094–1.256, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

Sonoluminescence is the light emission phenomenon from collapsing bubbles in liquid irradiated by an ultrasonic wave. In the present review, theoretical and experimental studies of the two types of sonoluminescence [single‐bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL) and multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL)] are described. SBSL is a sonoluminescence from a single stably pulsating bubble trapped at the pressure antinode of a standing ultrasonic wave. MBSL is a sonoluminescence occurring from many bubbles in liquid irradiated by an ultrasonic wave. The theoretical and experimental studies suggest that SBSL originates in emissions from plasma inside the heated bubble at the bubble collapse, whereas MBSL originates both in emissions from plasma and in chemiluminescence inside heated bubbles at the bubble collapse. Unsolved problems of sonoluminescence have also been explained in detail.  相似文献

Abstract

Direct observations were made on the behaviour of He-bubbles of ? 50 Å, diameter in α-irradiated Al-foils. Micrographs of bubbles were taken in selected contrast conditions after a first α-irradiation. The same areas were photographed again at the best reproducible angle of inclination and in the same contrast conditions after a second α-irradiation. Comparison of the micrographs showed general growth of the bubbles. There was no indication of shrinkage or complete dissolution of single bubbles.

Estimations of the mean bubble diameter before and after the second α-irradiation indicated bubble growth due to the additionally introduced He.  相似文献

The melting pressure and pressure in the liquid at a constant density of ultrapure 4He (0.3 ppb of 3He impurities) have been measured with an accuracy of about 0.5 μbar in the temperature range from 10 to 320 mK. The measurements show that the anomaly on the melting curve below 80 mK, which was recently observed [I. A. Todoshchenko et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 165302 (2006)], is entirely due to an anomaly in the elastic modulus of Be-Cu from which our pressure gauge is made. Thus, the melting pressure of 4He follows the T 4 law due to phonons in the whole temperature range from 10 to 320 mK without any attribute of a supersolid transition. We propose a Ginzburg-Landau phenomenological model for the dependence of the critical temperature on microscopic strain in tetragonal high-T c cuprates. Such a model is in agreement with the experimental results for LSCO under epitaxial strain, as well as with the hydrostatic pressure dependence of T c in most cuprates. In particular, a nonmonotonic dependence of T c on hydrostatic pressure, as well as on in-plane or apical microstrain, is derived. From a microscopic point of view, such results can be understood as due to the proximity to an electronic topological transition (ETT). In the case of LSCO, we argue that such an ETT can be driven by a strain-induced modification of the band structure, at constant hole content, at variance with a doping-induced ETT, as is usually assumed.
