We revisit the determination of α S (m τ 2) using a fit to inclusive τ hadronic spectral moments in light of (1) the recent calculation of the fourth-order perturbative coefficient K 4 in the expansion of the Adler function, (2) new precision measurements from BABAR of e+e annihilation cross sections, which decrease the uncertainty in the separation of vector and axial-vector spectral functions, and (3) improved results from BABAR and Belle on τ branching fractions involving kaons. We estimate that the fourth-order perturbative prediction reduces the theoretical uncertainty, introduced by the truncation of the series, by 20% with respect to earlier determinations. We discuss to some detail the perturbative prediction of two different methods: fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT) and contour-improved perturbative theory (CIPT). The corresponding theoretical uncertainties are studied at the τ and Z mass scales. The CIPT method is found to be more stable with respect to the missing higher order contributions and to renormalization scale variations. It is also shown that FOPT suffers from convergence problems along the complex integration contour. Nonperturbative contributions extracted from the most inclusive fit are small, in agreement with earlier determinations. Systematic effects from quark-hadron duality violation are estimated with simple models and found to be within the quoted systematic errors. The fit based on CIPT gives α S (m τ 2)=0.344±0.005±0.007, where the first error is experimental and the second theoretical. After evolution to M Z we obtain α S (M Z 2)=0.1212±0.0005±0.0008±0.0005, where the errors are respectively experimental, theoretical and due to the evolution. The result is in agreement with the corresponding N3LO value derived from essentially the Z width in the global electroweak fit. The α S (M Z 2) determination from τ decays is the most precise one to date.  相似文献

The heavy-fermion metal CePd1−x Rh x can be tuned from ferromagnetism at x = 0 to the nonmagnetic state at some critical concentration x c . The non-Fermi liquid behavior (NFL) at xx c is recognized by the power-law dependence of the specific heat C(T) given by the electronic contribution susceptibility X(T) and volume expansion coefficient α(T) at low temperatures: C/TX(T) ∝ α(T)/T∝ 1/ √T. We also demonstrate that the behavior of the normalized effective mass M N * observed in CePd1−x Rh x at x ≃ 0.8 agrees with that of M N * observed in paramagnetic CeRu2Si2 and conclude that these alloys exhibit the universal NFL thermodynamic behavior at their quantum critical points. We show that the NFL behavior of CePd1−x Rh x can be accounted for within the frameworks of the quasiparticle picture and fermion condensation quantum phase transition, while this alloy exhibits a universal thermodynamic NFL behavior that is independent of the characteristic features of the given alloy such as its lattice structure, magnetic ground state, dimension, etc. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

We prove estimates for the stationary state n-point functions at zero molecular diffusivity in the Kraichnan model [13]. This is done by proving upper bounds for the heat kernels and Green's functions of the degenerate elliptic operators M n that occur in the Hopf equations for the n-point functions. We present the results of the current analysis of the partial wave IJ PC = 00+ + based on the available data for meson spectra ( ππ, KˉK,ηη,η,ππππ). In the framework of the K-matrix approach, the analytical amplitude has been reconstructed in the mass region 280 MeV < < 1900 MeV. The following scalar-isoscalar states are seen: comparatively narrow resonances f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500), f 0(1750) and the broad state f0(1200-1600). The positions of the amplitude poles (masses and total widths of the resonances) are determined as well as pole residues (partial widths to meson channels ππ, KˉK,ηη,η,ππππ). The fitted amplitude gives us the positions of the K-matrix poles (bare states) and the values of bare-state couplings to meson channels thus allowing the quark-antiquark nonet classification of bare states. On the basis of the obtained partial widths to the channels ππ, KˉK,ηη,η, we estimate the quark/gluonium content of f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500), f 0(1750), f0(1200-1600). For f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500) and f 0(1750), their partial widths testify the qˉq origin of these mesons though being unable to provide precise evaluation of the possible admixture of the gluonium component in these resonances. The ratios of the decay coupling constants for the f0(1200-1600) support the idea about the gluonium nature of this broad state. Based on SU(3) flavor symmetry, many of the quark-graph amplitudes in two-body non-leptonic decays of charmed mesons can be extracted from experiment, which enable us to see the relevance and importance of weak annihilation topologies and to determine the complex parameters a1 and a2 to test the factorization approach. It is found that a 2 /a 1 in and can be different by a factor of 2, indicating that non-factorizable corrections to the latter are far more important than the former. The relative phase between a1 and a2 is about 150°. Weak annihilation topologies induced by nearby resonances via final-state rescattering can be described in a model-independent manner. Although the W-exchange contribution in decays is dominated by resonant final-state interactions (FSIs), its amplitude in VP decays (V: vector meson, P: pseudoscalar meson) receives little contributions from FSIs in the quark-antiquark resonance formation. As a consequence, the sign flip of the W-exchange amplitude in and decays, which is needed to explain the relatively real decay amplitudes of , remains unexplained. SU(3) symmetry is badly broken in some Cabibbo-suppressed modes and this can be accounted for by the accumulation of some modest SU(3) violation in individual quark-graph amplitudes. Some of the basic problems in neutrino physics, such as new energy scales, the enormous gap between the neutrino masses and the lightest charged fermion mass, and the possible existence of sterile neutrinos in the eV mass range are studied in the local gauge group SU L (4)×U(1) for electroweak unification, which does not contain fermions with exotic electric charges. It is shown that the neutrino mass spectrum can be decoupled from that of the other fermions. The further normal seesaw mechanism for neutrinos, with right-handed neutrino Majorana masses of order MM weak as well a new eV-scale can be accommodated. The eV-scale seesaw may manifest itself in experiments like the Liquid Scintillation Neutrino Detector (LSND) and MiniBooNE (MB) experimental results and future neutrino experiments.  相似文献

We first review the results of an analysis of ππ interactions in S, P and D waves for the two-pion effective mass from threshold to about 1.4GeV. In particular, we show a recent improvement of this analysis above the Kˉ threshold using more data for phase shifts and including the S0-wave inelasticity from ππKˉ. In addition, we have improved the fit to the f 2(1270)-resonance and used a more flexible P-wave parametrization above the Kˉ threshold and included an estimation of the D2-wave inelasticity. The better accuracy thus achieved also required a refinement of the Regge analysis above 1.42GeV. Finally, in this work we check that the ππ scattering amplitudes obtained in this approach satisfy remarkably well forward dispersion relations and Roy's equations.  相似文献

We use an appropriate combination of moments of finite energy sum rules in QCD in order to compute the B q -meson decay constants f B and . We perform the calculation using a two-loop computation of the imaginary part of the pseudoscalar two point function in terms of the running bottom quark mass. The results are stable against the so-called QCD duality threshold, and they are in agreement with the estimates obtained from Borel transform QCD sum rules and lattice computations.Received: 28 July 2004, Revised: 10 September 2004, Published online: 23 November 2004PACS: 12.38.Bx, 12.38.LgSupported by MCYT-FEDER under contract FPA2002-00612.  相似文献

We show that D-branes in the Euclidean AdS 3 can be naturally associated to the maximally isotropic subgroups of the Lu–Weinstein double of SU(2). This picture makes very transparent the residual loop group symmetry of the D-brane configurations and gives also immediately the D-branes shapes and the σ-model boundary conditions in the de Sitter T-dual of the SL(2,C)/SU(2) WZW model.  相似文献

The scalar contributions to the radiative decay φK 0ˉ0 γ are studied within the framework of the Linear Sigma Model (LσM). Theoretical predictions for the associated subprocesses φf 0 γ and φa 0 γ as well as the ratio φf 0 γ/a 0 γ are also given.  相似文献

We show that for every set of discrete polynomials y n (x(s)) on the lattice x(s), defined on a finite interval (a, b), it is possible to construct two sets of dual polynomials z k (ξ(t)) of degrees k = s-a and k = b-s-1. Here we do this for the classical and alternative Hahn and Racah polynomials as well as for their q-analogs. Also we establish the connection between classical and alternative families. This allows us to obtain new expressions for the Clerbsch-Gordan and Racah coefficients of the quantum algebra U q (su(2)) in terms of various Hahn and Racah q-polynomials. We study the flavour-singlet pseudoscalar mesons from first principles using lattice QCD. With N f=2 flavours of light quarks, this is the so-called η 2 meson and we discuss the phenomenological status of this meson. Using maximally twisted-mass lattice QCD, we extract the mass of the η 2 meson at two values of the lattice spacing for lighter quarks than previously discussed in the literature. We are able to estimate the mass value in the limit of light quarks with their physical masses.  相似文献

We introduce notions of dimension and dynamical entropy for unital C * -algebras ``metrized' by means of , which are complex-scalar versions of the Lip-norms constitutive of Rieffel's compact quantum metric spaces. Our examples involve the UHF algebras and noncommutative tori. In particular we show that the entropy of a noncommutative toral automorphism with respect to the canonical coincides with the topological entropy of its commutative analogue. We have studied the fluorescence of electronically excited OH*, H* and H2O+* dissociation fragments after VUV excitation ( h ν≥11.6 eV) of rare-gas clusters (Rg = Ne, Ar) doped with H2O molecules. In contrast to a free molecule, where Balmer H-series dominate the UV-visible spectra, only the OH * ( A 2 Σ + X 2 Π) emission band is observed in neon clusters. No emission of excited water ions has been observed. We find that while higher excitation energies (Ne vs. Ar) induce higher vibrational excitation of the OH* ( A ) fragment, the rotational temperature is lower. This effect is attributed to the difference in the geometric position of the H2O molecule on the surface or inside the Rg-cluster. The rotational relaxation in neon clusters is rapid while the vibrational relaxation is slow because of the coupling with the low energy matrix phonons. The charmless nonleptonic decay modes Bf 0 K(π) involving a scalar and a pseudoscalar meson in the final state are studied. The scalar meson f 0 is considered as a q̄q state, as favored by some recent studies. Using the generalized factorization approach, the branching ratios and CP violation parameters are computed for these modes. The form factors are calculated using the results from relativistic light front quark model and the ISGW2 model. It is found that the direct CP violation parameters in these modes are small. However, the obtained branching ratios are not in agreement with the experimental data. Therefore, these modes may be considered as possible probes for new physics.   相似文献

The recent observations of f 0(980) in charmless B decays motivate further studies of scalar particle and glueball production in these processes. Amplitudes for charmless two-body B decays involving the members of the scalar nonet are presented based on the symmetries of the dominant penguin contribution. Different scenarios for the lightest scalar nonet are investigated in view of the presently available data. We describe the evidence from B decays for f 0(1500) with a flavor octet like mixing and the hints towards the members of the nonet of lowest mass. There is further support for the hypothesis of a broad 0 + + glueball acting as coherent background especially in . A γ-rigid version (with γ = 0) of the X(5) critical point symmetry is constructed. The model, to be called X(3) since it is proved to contain three degrees of freedom, utilizes an infinite well potential, is based on exact separation of variables, and leads to parameter-free (up to overall scale factors) predictions for spectra and B(E2) transition rates which are in good agreement with existing experimental data for 172Os and 186Pt. An unexpected similarity of the β 1 bands of the X(5) nuclei 150Nd, 152Sm, 154Gd, and 156Dy to the X(3) predictions is observed. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The low-x data of the structure function F 2 measured by the collaborations H1 and ZEUS are compared with the prediction of the DGLAP equations. A new method of comparing data and theory is presented. The systematic and quantitative analysis shows that the predicted 1/x behavior deviates increasingly from the observed one as x decreases below 10-3.Received: 31 October 2003, Published online: 26 May 2004  相似文献

We present a study of the LHC sensitivity to the W boson mass based on simulation studies. We find that both experimental and phenomenological sources of systematic uncertainties can be strongly constrained with Z measurements: the lineshape, dσ Z /dm, is robustly predicted, and its analysis provides an accurate measurement of the detector resolution and absolute scale, while the differential cross-section analysis, d2 σ Z /dydp T , absorbs the strong interaction uncertainties. A sensitivity δ m W ∼7 MeV for each decay channel (We ν, Wμ ν), and for an integrated luminosity of 10 fb−1, appears as a reasonable goal.  相似文献
