planes of constant curvature bounded by arcs of a given constant geodesic

The conjecture [1] asserts that any biharmonic submanifold in sphere has constant mean curvature. In this paper, we first prove that this conjecture is true for pseudo-umbilical biharmonic submanifolds M n in constant curvature spaces S n+p (c)(c > 0), generalizing the result in [1]. We develop the utility of Gram matrix machinery as a tool to treat the
geometry of simplices in space forms. A formula relating the determinant
of a normalized Gram matrix to the geometry of the simplex it represents is
presented. We then apply the tools to leaf spaces, i.e. the set of degree
1 vertices of a metric tree. One main result is that for a given metric space
X there exists a constant 0 < 0, such that X embeds into all hyperbolic

For a wedge-like membrane, Payne and Weinberger proved in 1960 an isoperimetric inequality for the fundamental eigenvalue which in some cases improves the classical isoperimetric inequality of Faber–Krahn. In this work, we introduce “relative torsional rigidity” for this type of membrane and prove new isoperimetric inequalities in the spirit of Saint-Venant, Pólya–Szeg?, Payne, Payne–Rayner, Chiti, and Talenti, which link the eigenvalue problem with the boundary value problem in a fundamental way. 相似文献
