The dynamics of super-sech solitons in dispersion-managed optical fibers is obtained in this paper. The dynamical system of soliton parameters is obtained for such pulses for dispersion-managed fibers, in presence of various perturbation terms. The perturbation terms studied are Hamiltonian, as well as non-Hamiltonian along with non-local types.  相似文献

We investigate the phase jitter in long-haul optical transmission systems with periodic dispersion management and amplification. We compare different dispersion-managed soliton systems and a conventional soliton system having the same pulse width and path-averaged dispersion. Using the variational method, we derive the ordinary differential equations for the pulse parameters perturbed by amplifier noise and hence calculate the phase jitter. We verify the analytical results by numerically solving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation using split-step Fourier algorithm. The results suggest that the reduction of nonlinear phase noise in dispersion-managed soliton systems is possible compared to a conventional soliton system. It is also revealed that the phase noise is enhanced in stronger dispersion-managed systems. We also explore the phase noise effect in dispersion-managed quasi-linear systems and find that phase jitter is mitigated in highly dispersive fibers.  相似文献

The properties of ultra-short dense dispersion-managed soliton (DBMS) in optical fiber links are investigated. They show some excellent characters, such as, reducing pulse's breathing extent greatly, facing fewer mutual interactions and tolerating larger local dispersion. In general, DBMS is more stable than a conventional dispersion-managed soliton in high-capacity systems. Excessively dense dispersion compensation is more suitable for systems with weak nonlinear effect.  相似文献

The pulse–pulse interaction in a dispersion-managed fiber system is studied for the case when a nonlinear gain and spectral filtering are included into the dispersion-gain map. In this system, the pulse of any shape converges quickly to a dispersion-managed soliton. Using the technique of interaction plane, we have found stable bound states of two pulses. The effects we have studied may significantly reduce the chances of pulse coalescence in specially designed optical transmission lines.  相似文献

We examine the feasibility of optical pulse transmission in dispersion-managed fiber systems with in-line nonlinear optical loop mirrors. Applying numerical analysis, we find regimes of stable propagation over long distances in such lines, with a significant increase in the signal-to-noise ratio.  相似文献

研究色散管理孤子在双折射光纤中的传输特性.应用变分法分析并给出了双折射光纤中色散管理孤子参量演化的常微分方程.数值分析双折射对孤子参量的影响,分析发现在双折射光纤中色散管理孤子的宽度和啁啾不再是严格周期性变化.在色散管理的同时进行周期性偏振补偿可以消除走离效应,可以产生管理孤子.  相似文献

The influence of in-line filters on the phase jitter of chirped optical pulses propagating in arbitrary dispersion-managed systems is studied with a semianalytic moment method. Because of its stabilizing effect on the amplitude, filtering reduces the nonlinear phase jitter that accumulates through self-phase modulation. As in the case of constant-dispersion soliton links, we observe that the phase variance grows only linearly with distance in the presence of filtering. Phase jitter reduction is observed and accurately predicted by the moment method in two dispersion-managed systems with different levels of nonlinearity and filter strength.  相似文献

The moment method is used to study the Gordon–Haus timing jitter of optical pulses in dispersion-managed communication systems with distributed amplification. Timing-jitter formulas are derived for the dispersion-managed soliton and chirped return-to-zero formats. These formulas are used to study the effects of dispersion compensation on timing jitter. Just as distributed amplification reduces the amount of amplifier noise, so also does it reduce the timing jitter caused by amplifier noise. For both transmission formats, one can reduce the timing jitter significantly by choosing the amount of dispersion compensation judiciously.  相似文献

We simulated dispersion-managed soliton propagation and interaction in optical fibers. The energy-enhancement factor, together with the time-bandwidth product and the stretching factor, were calculated as a function of the difference in absolute values of accumulated dispersion in the fiber spans. The interaction strength of the dispersion-managed solitons was found to depend on the stretching factor. When this factor is less than 1.5, the interaction is weaker than for ideal solitons. When it is more than 1.5, there is a strong interaction between the pulses, which constrains the energy enhancement for practical applications.  相似文献

I show with numerical simulations that higher-order sliding filters, especially super-Gaussian filters, can produce dramatic power enhancement of optical solitons, similar to that of dispersion-managed solitons. The soliton solution is obtained by means of iterating the path-averaged equation. It is appropriately described as a pair of bright solitons, bound together by a dark soliton. In order to meet the requirements necessary for advanced optical fiber transmission schemes that enable larger transmission capacity, higher efficiency and/or lower transmission costs per bit, optical fiber technologies are still evolving toward ultimate performance. Recent developmental activities have realized a number of improved performance optical fibers, such as ultra-low loss or ultra-low nonlinearity fibers and various types of dispersion-modified fibers. Fiber-based dispersion compensators or dispersion compensating fibers have also become one of the most essential optical components that support high-speed large capacity optical transmission. Very recently, the dispersion compensating fibers have further evolved into dispersion-managed optical transmission lines, which are now being actually deployed in transoceanic submarine optical cable networks.  相似文献

In standard optical fibers with constant chromatic dispersion, modulational instability (MI) sidebands execute undesirable frequency shifts due to fiber losses. By means of a technique based on average-dispersion-decreasing dispersion-managed fibers, we achieve both complete suppression of the sideband frequency shifts and fine control of the MI frequencies, without any compromise in the MI power gain.  相似文献

We analyze pulse propagation in an optical fiber employing a periodic dispersion map. Second-order averaging is used to determine a general evolution equation valid for both return-to-zero and non-return-to-zero pulses in dispersion-managed systems. The equation is then applied to the case of solitons, and an analytic expression for the power enhancement arising from the dispersion management is obtained.  相似文献
