Cu(2+) doped single crystals of KH(2)PO(4) were investigated using EPR technique at room temperature. The spectra of the complex contains large number of overlapping lines. Five sites are resolved and four of them are compatible with the tetragonal symmetry, and the fifth one belongs to an interstitial site. The results are discussed and compared with previous studies. Detailed investigation of the EPR spectra indicate that Cu(2+) substitute with K(+) ions. The principal values of the g and hyperfine tensors and the ground state wave function of Cu(2+) ions are obtained.  相似文献

Spirobenzopyrans bearing monoazathiacrown ethers and noncyclic analogues were synthesized, and their ion-responsive photochromism depending on the dual metal ion interaction with the crown ether and the phenolate anion moieties was examined using alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions, Ag(+), Tl(+), Pb(2+), Hg(2+), and Zn(2+). The prepared spirobenzopyrans showed a selective binding ability to Mg(2+) and Ag(+) with negative and positive photochromism, respectively. Among the metal ions, only Ag(+) facilitated photoisomerization to the corresponding merocyanine form. Depending on the ring size of the monoazathiacrown ether moieties, soft metal ions such as Hg(2+) and Ag(+) showed significant shifts in the UV-vis absorption spectra, while hard metal ions such as Mg(2+), Zn(2+), and Pb(2+) did not afford any meaningful shift. This result reflects that the monoazathiacrown ether and phenolate anion moieties prefer soft and hard metal ions, respectively. Therefore, the Mg(2+) and Ag(+) selectivities are mainly derived from the phenolate anion and monoazathiacrown ether moieties, respectively. On the other hand, a spirobenzothiapyran bearing 3,9-dithia-6-monoazaundecane showed a remarkable selectivity to Ag(+).  相似文献

Three samples of calcite homogeneously doped with Eu(3+) were synthesized in a mixed-flow reactor. By means of selective excitation of the 5D0-->7F0 transition at low temperatures (T<20 K), three different Eu(3+) species (species A, B, and C, respectively) could be discriminated. For each one, the emission spectrum and lifetime were obtained after selective excitation of the single species. On the basis of these data, species C could be identified as Eu(3+) incorporated into the calcite lattice on the (nearly) octahedral Ca(2+) site. Species B was also identified as Eu(3+) incorporated into the calcite lattice, but the ligand field shows a much weaker symmetry. Species A, however, is not incorporated into the crystal's bulk, having 1-2 H(2)O ligands left in its first coordination sphere and showing very little symmetry, and is considered as Eu(3+) adsorbed onto the calcite surface. The emission spectra of species C for Eu:calcite grown in the presence of Na(+) were found to differ from those of Eu:calcite synthesized in the presence of K(+). The latter revealed a strong distortion in site symmetry, which was not observed in the samples grown in Na(+) solutions. This finding provides spectroscopic evidence in favor of an incorporation mechanism based on the charge-balanced coupled substitution of Na(+)+Eu(3+)<-->2Ca(2+).  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Cu(2+) impurities in [Co(nicotinamide)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](saccharinate)(2) single crystals have been studied at ambient temperature in three mutually perpendicular planes. The angular variation of the spectra shows that the Cu(2+) ion substitutes the Co(2+) site in the lattice. The EPR spectra of Cu(2+) ions are characteristic of tetragonally elongated octahedral site. The spin-Hamiltonien parameters were obtained from the single crystal EPR analysis. The ground-state wave function of Cu(2+) ion in the lattice has been constructed.  相似文献

Cu(2+) and VO(2+) doped ammonium hydrogen oxalate hemihydrate, [(NH(4))HC(2)O(4) . (1/2)H(2)O], single crystals have been studied at room temperature and at 113K in three mutually perpendicular planes. Both ions yield unexpectedly large number of lines. The calculated results of the Cu(2+) and VO(2+) doped in [(NH(4))HC(2)O(4) . (1/2)H(2)O] indicate that both ions substitute with the NH(4)(+) ion in the structure. The EPR spectra of Cu(2+) ions are characteristic of tetragonally elongated octahedral site and the spectra of VO(2+) are characteristic of tetragonally compressed complex. The angular variation of the EPR spectra has shown that two different Cu(2+) and VO(2+) complexes are located in different chemical environments, and each environment contains two magnetically inequivalent Cu(2+) and VO(2+) sites in distinct orientations occupying substitutional positions in the lattice and show very high angular dependence. The principal g and the hyperfine (A) values of both ions are determined.  相似文献

Eu(2+) singly and Eu(2+), Mn(2+) co-doped Sr(2)Mg(3)P(4)O(15) exhibit not only the well known blue emission band of Eu(2+) peaking at 448 nm but also a new band at 399 nm in violet. They are attributed to Eu(2+) on different Sr(2+) sites. The Eu(2+) for the violet band can transfer energy to the red emitting Mn(2+) more efficiently than Eu(2+) for the blue band. The new Eu(2+) band could enable Sr(2)Mg(3)P(4)O(15):Mn(2+), Eu(2+) to be a promising phosphor for enriching the red component of white LEDs.  相似文献

Electronic states and solvation of Cu and Ag aqua ions are investigated by comparing the Cu(2+) + e(-)--> Cu(+) and Ag(2+) + e(-)--> Ag(+) redox reactions using density functional-based computational methods. The coordination number of aqueous Cu(2+) is found to fluctuate between 5 and 6 and reduces to 2 for Cu(+), which forms a tightly bound linear dihydrate. Reduction of Ag(2+) changes the coordination number from 5 to 4. The energetics of the oxidation reactions is analyzed by comparing vertical ionization potentials, relaxation energies, and vertical electron affinities. The model is validated by a computation of the free energy of the full redox reaction Ag(2+) + Cu(+) --> Ag(+) + Cu(2+). Investigation of the one-electron states shows that the redox active frontier orbitals are confined to the energy gap between occupied and empty states of the pure solvent and localized on the metal ion hydration complex. The effect of solvent fluctuations on the electronic states is highlighted in a computation of the UV absorption spectrum of Cu(+) and Ag(+).  相似文献

M(+)(H(2)O)(n) and M(+)(H(2)O)(n)Ar ions (M=Cu and Ag) are studied for exploring coordination and solvation structures of noble-metal ions. These species are produced in a laser-vaporization cluster source and probed with infrared (IR) photodissociation spectroscopy in the OH-stretch region using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. Density functional theory calculations are also carried out for analyzing the experimental IR spectra. Partially resolved rotational structure observed in the spectrum of Ag(+)(H(2)O)(1) x Ar indicates that the complex is quasilinear in an Ar-Ag(+)-O configuration with the H atoms symmetrically displaced off axis. The spectra of the Ar-tagged M(+)(H(2)O)(2) are consistent with twofold coordination with a linear O-M(+)-O arrangement for these ions, which is stabilized by the s-d hybridization in M(+). Hydrogen bonding between H(2)O molecules is absent in Ag(+)(H(2)O)(3) x Ar but detected in Cu(+)(H(2)O)(3) x Ar through characteristic changes in the position and intensity of the OH-stretch transitions. The third H(2)O attaches directly to Ag(+) in a tricoordinated form, while it occupies a hydrogen-bonding site in the second shell of the dicoordinated Cu(+). The preference of the tricoordination is attributable to the inefficient 5s-4d hybridization in Ag(+), in contrast to the extensive 4s-3d hybridization in Cu(+) which retains the dicoordination. This is most likely because the s-d energy gap of Ag(+) is much larger than that of Cu(+). The fourth H(2)O occupies the second shells of the tricoordinated Ag(+) and the dicoordinated Cu(+), as extensive hydrogen bonding is observed in M(+)(H(2)O)(4) x Ar. Interestingly, the Ag(+)(H(2)O)(4) x Ar ions adopt not only the tricoordinated form but also the dicoordinated forms, which are absent in Ag(+)(H(2)O)(3) x Ar but revived at n=4. Size dependent variations in the spectra of Cu(+)(H(2)O)(n) for n=5-7 provide evidence for the completion of the second shell at n=6, where the dicoordinated Cu(+)(H(2)O)(2) subunit is surrounded by four H(2)O molecules. The gas-phase coordination number of Cu(+) is 2 and the resulting linearly coordinated structure acts as the core of further solvation processes.  相似文献

The alkaline earth metals calcium and magnesium are critically involved in many biomolecular processes. To understand the hydration thermodynamics of these ions, we have performed molecular dynamics simulations using a polarizable potential. Particle-mesh Ewald for point multipoles has been applied to the calculation of electrostatic interactions. The parameters in this model have been determined from an ab initio quantum mechanical calculation of dimer interactions between ions and water. Two methods for ion solvation free energy calculation, free energy perturbation, and the Bennett acceptance ratio have been compared. Both predict results consistent with other theoretical estimations while the Bennett approach leads to a much smaller statistical error. Based on the Born theory and the ion-oxygen radial distribution functions, we estimate the effective size of the ions in solution, concluding that K(+) > Na(+) congruent with Ca(2+) > Mg(2+). There appears to be much stronger perturbation in water structure, dynamics, and dipole moment around the divalent cations than the monovalent K(+) and Na(+). The average water coordination numbers for Ca(2+) and Mg(2+) are 7.3 and 6, respectively. The lifetime of water molecules in the first solvation shell of Mg(2+) is on the order of hundreds of picoseconds, in contrast to only few picoseconds for Ca(2+), K(+), or Na(+).  相似文献

Ligand-capped gold nanoparticles were synthesized by capping monothiol derivatives of 2,2'-dipyridyl onto the surface of Au nanoparticles (Au-BT). The average size of the metal core is around 4 nm, with a shell of approximately 340 bipyridine ligands around the Au nanoparticle. The high local concentration of the chelating ligands ( approximately 5 M) around the Au nanoparticle makes these particles excellent ion sponges, and their complexation with Eu(III)/Tb(III) ions yields phosphorescent nanomaterials. Absorption spectral studies confirm a 1:3 complexation between Eu(III)/Tb(III) ions and bipyridines, functionalized on the surface of Au nanoparticles. The red-emitting Au-BT:Eu(III) complex exhibits a long lifetime of 0.36 ms with six line-like emission peaks, whereas the green-emitting Au-BT:Tb(III) complex exhibits a lifetime of 0.7 ms with four line-like emission peaks. These phosphorescent nanomaterials, designed by linking BT:Eu(III) complexes to Au nanoparticles, were further utilized as sensors for metal cations. A dramatic decrease in the luminescence was observed upon addition of alkaline earth metal ions (Ca(2+), Mg(2+)) and transition metal ions (Cu(2+), Zn(2+), Ni(2+)), resulting from an isomorphous substitution of Eu(III) ions, whereas the luminescence intensity was not influenced by the addition of Na(+) and K(+) ions. Direct interaction of bipyridine-capped Au nanoparticles with Cu(2+) ions brings the nanohybrid systems closer, leading to the formation of three-dimensional superstructures. Strong interparticle plasmon interactions were observed in these closely spaced Au nanoparticles.  相似文献

Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) is a serine/threonine kinase that requires two cofactor Mg(2+) ions for catalysis in regulating many important cellular signals. Experimentally, Li(+) is a competitive inhibitor of GSK3β relative to Mg(2+), while this mechanism is not experienced with other group I metal ions. Herein, we use native Mg(2)(2+)-Mg(1)(2+) GSK3β and its Mg(2)(2+)-M(1)(+) (M = Li, Na, K, and Rb) derivatives to investigate the effect of metal ion substitution on the mechanism of inhibition through two-layer ONIOM-based quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) calculations and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The results of ONIOM calculations elucidate that the interaction of Na(+), K(+), and Rb(+) with ATP is weaker compared to that of Mg(2+) and Li(+) with ATP, and the critical triphosphate moiety of ATP undergoes a large conformational change in the Na(+), K(+), and Rb(+) substituted systems. As a result, the three metal ions (Na(+), K(+), and Rb(+)) are not stable and depart from the active site, while Mg(2+) and Li(+) can stabilize in the active site, evident in MD simulations. Comparisons of Mg(2)(2+)-Mg(1)(2+) and Mg(2)(2+)-Li(1)(+) systems reveal that the inline phosphor-transfer of ATP and the two conserved hydrogen bonds between Lys85 and ATP, together with the electrostatic potential at the Li(1)(+) site, are disrupted in the Mg(2)(2+)-Li(1)(+) system. These computational results highlight the possible mechanism why Li(+) inhibits GSK3β.  相似文献

Eu(2+)-doped monophosphates NaSrPO(4) and KBaPO(4) with the β-K(2)SO(4) structure were synthesized using the conventional high temperature solid state reaction. The X-ray powder diffraction, photoluminescence excitation, and emission spectra and decay curves were measured. The phosphors can be efficiently excited by UV-visible light from 220 to 430 nm to realize emission in the visible range. The natures of the Eu(2+) emission, e.g., the chromaticity coordinates, the Stokes shifts, and the luminescence absolute quantum efficiencies, were reported. The luminescence quenching temperatures and the thermal activation energies for NaSrPO(4):Eu(2+) and KBaPO(4):Eu(2+) were obtained from the temperature dependent (10-435 K) luminescence intensities and decay curves. KBaPO(4):Eu(2+) presents only one emission center; however, Eu(2+) ions have a "disordered environment" in NaSrPO(4) lattices. The relationship between the luminescence thermal stabilities and the crystal structures was discussed. The crystallographic occupations of rare earth ions doped in these hosts were analyzed by the site-selective emission spectra and the excitation spectra of Eu(3+) ions in the (7)F(0)→(5)D(0) transitions using a pulsed, tunable, and narrow-band dye laser. In KBaPO(4), the Eu(3+) ions could be distributed in the host with a high "ordered state" in only one site in the lattices. However, the multiple site structure of Eu(3+) ions with highly disordered distributions in NaSrPO(4) lattices was suggested.  相似文献

A novel potentiometric membrane sensor for potassium ion based on the use of rifamycin as a neutral ionophore is described. The sensing membrane is formulated with 2 wt.% rifamycin-SV, 69 wt.% dibutylsebacate plasticizer and 29 wt.% PVC. Linear and stable potential response with near-Nernstian slope of 56.7 +/- 0.2 mV decade(-1) are obtained over the concentration range 1 x 10(-1)-3 x 10(-5) M K(+). The detection limit is 0.3 microg ml(-1) K(+), the response time is 10-30 s and the working pH range is 4-11. Responses of the sensor toward alkali and alkaline earth metal ions are in the order K(+) > Rb(+) > Cs(+) > Na(+) > NH(4)(+) > Ba(2+) > Mg(2+) > Ca(2+) > Sr(2+) > Li(+). The selectivity coefficient data reveal negligible interference from transition metal ions. Direct potentiometric determination of K(+) in the presence of 10-50-fold excess of alkali and alkaline earth metals gives results with an average recovery of 99.1%, and a mean standard deviation of 1.2%. The data agree fairly well with those obtained by flame photometry.  相似文献

A red-emitting phosphor, Eu(3+)-doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7), was synthesized by the conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed the pure crystalline phase of Whitlockite-type structure. The excitation spectra of Eu(3+) doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) were measured in the VUV and UV region indicating an efficient energy transfer process from the host and Gd(3+) to Eu(3+) ions. Upon excitation with VUV and UV radiation, the phosphor showed strong red emission around 611 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) ions. The VUV- and UV-excited luminescence spectra of Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7):Eu(3+) together with the dependence of the integrated emission intensities on the doping levels were investigated. The Eu(3+) ions were investigated by a tunable laser as an excitation source. The excitation spectra of (7)F(0)→(5)D(0) transitions suggest that there are two families of inequivalent sites for Eu(3+) in this host. The concentration quenching and crystallographic site-occupancy of Eu(3+) ions in Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) host were discussed on the basis of the site selective excitation and emission spectra, the luminescence decay and its crystal structure.  相似文献

New 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline (CHQ)-substituted aza-18-crown-6 (4), diaza-18-crown-6 (1), diaza-21-crown-7 (2), and diaza-24-crown-8 (3) ligands, where CHQ was attached through the 7-position, and aza-18-crown-6 (11) and diaza-18-crown-6 (10) macrocycles, where CHQ was attached through the 2-position, were prepared. Thermodynamic quantities for complexation of these CHQ-substituted macrocycles with alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metal ions were determined in absolute methanol at 25.0 degrees C by calorimetric titration. Two isomers, 1 and 10, which are different only in the attachment positions of the CHQ to the parent macroring, exhibit remarkable differences in their affinities toward the metal ions. Compound 1 forms very stable complexes with Mg(2+), Ca(2+), Cu(2+), and Ni(2+) (log K = 6.82, 5.31, 10.1, and 11.4, respectively), but not with the alkali metal ions. Ligand 10 displays strong complexation with K(+) and Ba(2+) (log K = 6.61 and 12.2, respectively) but not with Mg(2+) or Cu(2+). The new macrocycles and their complexes have been characterized by means of UV-visible and (1)H NMR spectra and X-ray crystallography. New peaks in the UV spectrum of the Mg(2+)-1 complex could allow an analytical determination of Mg(2+) in very dilute solutions in the presence of other alkali and alkaline earth metal cations. (1)H NMR spectral and X-ray crystallographic studies indicate that ligand 10 forms a cryptate-like structure when coordinated with K(+) and Ba(2+), which induces an efficient overlap of the two hydroxyquinoline rings. Such overlapping forms a pseudo second macroring that results in a significant increase in both complex stability and cation selectivity.  相似文献

A new Cu(2+)-responsive MRI contrast agent (Gd-QDOTAMA) with a quinoline-based ligand was synthesized and characterized. Relaxivity studies on Gd-QDOTAMA showed that the relaxivity increased from 4.27 mM(-1) s(-1) to 7.29 mM(-1) s(-1) in response to equimolar amounts of copper(II) ion, corresponding to ca. 71% relaxivity enhancement. Distinct changes in relaxivity were undetected upon addition of physiologically relevant alkali metal cations (K(+) or Na(+)), alkaline earth metal cations (Mg(2+) or Ca(2+)), or d-block metal cations (Zn(2+), Cu(+), Fe(2+), Fe(3+)), indicating a high selectivity for Cu(2+) over other biologically relevant metal ions. Moreover, the influence of common biological anions at physiological levels on the Cu(2+)-responsive contrast agent was also studied. Luminescence studies on the Eu counterpart Eu-QDOTAMA suggest that the enhancement in relaxivity for Gd-QDOTAMA in response to Cu(2+) is most likely due to the increased number of inner-sphere water molecules around Gd(3+) upon Cu(2+) binding to the 8-amidequinoline moiety. In vitro T(1)-weighted phantom images of Gd-QDOTAMA confirmed that signal intensity was markedly increased by the addition of equimolar amounts of Cu(2+).  相似文献

(133)Cs NMR spectroscopy was used to determine the stoichiometry and stability of the Cs(+) ion complex with dibenzo-21-crown-7 (DB21C7) in acetonitrile-dimethylsulfoxide (96.5:3.5, w/w) and nitromethane-dimethylsulfoxide (96.5:3.5, w/w) mixtures. A competitive (133)Cs NMR technique was also employed to probe the complexation of Na(+), K(+), Rb(+), Ag(+), Tl(+), NH(4)(+), Mg(2+), Ba(2+), Hg(2+), Pb(2+) and UO(2)(2+) ions with DB21C7 in the same solvent systems. All the resulting 1:1 complexes in nitromethane-dimethylsulfoxide were more stable than those in acetonitrile-dimethylsulfoxide solution. In both solvent systems, the stability of the resulting complexes was found to vary in the order Rb(+)>K(+) approximately Ba(2+)>Tl(+)>Cs(+)>NH(4)(+) approximately Pb(2+)>Ag(+)>UO(2)(2+)>Hg(2+)>Mg(2+)>Na(+).  相似文献

The tetragonal distortions [characterized by the displacement DeltaR of the F(-) ion intervening in Cr(3+) and V(B) (B(2+) vacancy) or M(+) ion in B(2+) site] for Cr(3+)-V(B) and Cr(3+)-Li(+) centers in Cr(3+)-doped fluoroperovskites KBF(3) (B=Mg, Zn) and ACdF(3) (A=K, Rb, Cs) and also for Cr(3+)-Na(+) center in KZnF(3) have been studied by calculating the EPR parameters D, g(parallel) and g(perpendicular) from the crystal-field theory. From the studies, an interesting trend is suggested, i.e., when the size of the co-doped monovalent impurity M(+) in the nearest neighbor B(2+) site is comparable to that of the replaced B(2+) ion, the displacement DeltaR of the intervening F(-) ion in Cr(3+)-M(+) center is smaller than that in Cr(3+)-V(B) center and if the M(+) iron is much smaller or much larger than that of the replaced B(2+) ion, the displacement DeltaR in Cr(3+)-M(+) center is greater than that in Cr(3+)-V(B) center. The causes of the trend are discussed.  相似文献

The tandem mass (MS/MS) spectra of ammonium ion, metal ion and ligated metal ion adducts of chain-extended acyclic nitro-containing deoxyglucose and deoxygalactose derivatives have been studied. The ammonium adducts fragment primarily by elimination of ammonia followed by acetic acid, thus not giving much structural information. In contrast, cationization of these compounds by metal ions and ligated metal ions gave structurally informative and useful fragment ions on MS/MS. The metal ions and ligated metal ions play an important role in controlling and directing fragmentation. Retro-aldol fragmentation is facilitated by metal ions such as Li(+), Na(+), Ag(+) and Cu(+), whereas the adducts with higher alkali metal ions such as Rb(+) and Cs(+) fragment to give only the corresponding metal ions. The divalent metal ions such as Cu(2+) and Ba(2+) also induce retro-aldol fragmentation. However, the charge is carried by the aldehyde fragment in the case of Cu(2+) adducts, whereas the nitroalkane fragment carries the charge in the case of Ba(2+) adducts. Ligated metal ions such as ZnCl(+), CuCl(+), InCl(2) (+) and BaCl(+) also behave similarly and induce retro-aldol fragmentation in these acyclic sugars. Both the metal ion and ligated metal ion adducts can fragment by elimination of metal-containing neutral molecules.  相似文献

The Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2 glass containing europium ions was prepared by a sol-gel method. Fluorescence line-narrowing spectra (FLN) indicate two different environments of the Eu 3+ ions. The calculated second crystal-field parameters exhibit the opposite behaviors of the two different environments. The FLN excitation and emission spectra before and after irradiation show that the change of the emission mainly comes from the Eu 3+ ions at site I, revealing that the concentration ratio of the Eu 3+ ions at site I to site II was decreased. The emission spectra confirmed that some Eu 3+ ions were reduced into Eu 2+ ions. The excitation spectra indicate that the Eu 3+ ions at the sites with higher covalence degree can be easily reduced, implying that the Eu 3+ ions are more easily reduced at site I than at site II. The absorption spectra before and after irradiation exhibit that the absorption of Eu 2+ ions increases and that the positive hole centers appear. These results suggest a mechanism of the formation of the Eu 2+ ions by femtosecond laser irradiation.  相似文献
