A quadruple calix[4]arene has been synthesized efficiently from the known diaminocalix[4]arene and 4,4′-biphenyldisulfonyl chloride in just one step (38% yield). The compound has been fully characterized including the determination of the X-ray crystal structure.  相似文献

A new oligomeric calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 ( 5 ) was synthesized via a condensation reaction of 5,11,17,23‐tetra‐tert‐butyl‐25,27‐bis‐(4‐aminobenzyloxy)‐calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 ( 4 ) with adipoyl dichloride. In this oligomerization reaction only five/six calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 units were linked in the oligomeric chain. The complexation studies of 5 were made with liquid–liquid‐ extraction and solid–liquid‐sorption procedures. For comparison, the extraction efficiencies of monomers 1 , 3 , and 4 to selected transition metals are reported. The selectivity of monomers 3 and 4 toward Cu2+, Hg2+, and Pb2+ was lost after oligomerization in the two‐phase extraction systems. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. <正>A novel calix[4]arene derivative 2 with amino functional groups at the lower rim was first prepared via introduction of nitro functional groups and amination of the dinitro derivative of calix[4]arene.The optically active monomers were synthesized by dehydration of L-leucine(and L-isoleucine) and 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic- 3,3',4,4'-dianhydride(3) followed by reaction with thionyl chloride to form 5a and 5b.Two methods,polymerization under microwave irradiation and solution polymerization in CH_2Cl_2/TEA,were then employed to carry out the condensation polymerization of 2 with the optically active monomers 5a and 5b,respectively.The polymerization conditions affected the kind of resulting polymers,poly(amide-imide)s(PAIs) 6a and 6b and poly(ester-imide)s(PEIs) 6a' and 6b' were obtained selectively in good yields and moderate inherent viscosities.Sorption-extraction experiments were carried out using cram picrate extraction method and verified good binding ability of the resulting calixarene-based polymers towards silver,alkali metal and toxic heavy metal cations.Also thermogravimetric analysis indicated that the resulting PAIs and PEIs were thermally stable.  相似文献

Nitro‐substituted calixarenes in a cone and a partial cone conformation were prepared selectively using distinct synthetic routes. The selective nitration of tris‐ or penta‐substituted phenols of calix[4]arene or calix[6]arene provided mononitrocalix[n ]arenes (=  4, 6). Subsequent addition of ethylene glycol (EG) moieties to mononitrocalix[4]arene provided tetraEGylcalix[4]arene in locked partial cone conformation. By an alternative route – initial addition of EG moieties to the non‐derivatized calix[4]arene followed by the uncontrolled nitration – provided mononitro‐ and dinitro‐tetraEGylcalix[4]arenes locked in the cone conformation. These nitrocalix[4]arenes with locked cone or partial cone conformation are useful building blocks for further assembly of supramolecular systems, especially in the area of material sciences.  相似文献

Long chain calix[4]arene ethers have been examined for aggregation in nonaqueous solvents by using UV-vis molecular absorbance spectroscopy. It has been observed that tetraalkylated (alkyl = hexadecyl and octadecyl, respectively) calix[4]arene ethers tend to aggregate in chloroform and tetrahydrofuran, possibly via ππ stacking interactions of the phenyl moieties, and the aggregation process appears to be facilitated by the alkyl chains. The analogous dialkylated compounds do not show any self-aggregation, plausibly due to strong hydrogen bonding between the –OH and the –O– of calix aryl ether which seems to disrupt the aggregation process. Addition of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) appears to hinder the aggregation process in nonpolar chloroform but the same surfactant facilitates aggregation in the polar tetrahydrofuran. The cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) and the nonionic surfactant (Brij-35) have no effect on this aggregation process. Unexpectedly, SDS induces aggregation of dialkylated calix[4]arene ethers in chloroform. It has been observed that the aggregated form of the tetraalkylated calix[4]arene ethers tend to increase the dimerization efficiency of cationic dyes (pinacyanol chloride and methylene blue) in chloroform.  相似文献

A series of lipophilic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) circa 5 nm in diameter and having a mixed organic layer consisting of 1‐dodecanethiol and 1‐(11‐mercaptoundecyl) pyridinium bromide was synthesised by reacting tetraoctylammonium bromide stabilised AuNPs in toluene with different mixtures of the two thiolate ligands. A bidentate ω‐alkylthiolate calix[4]arene derivative was instead used as a functional protecting layer on AgNPs of approximately 3 nm. The functionalised nanoparticles were characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and by UV/Vis and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Recognition of the pyridinium moieties loaded on the AuNPs by the calix[4]arene units immobilised on the AgNPs was demonstrated in solution of weakly polar solvents by UV/Vis titrations and DLS measurements. The extent of Au‐AgNPs aggregation, shown through the low‐energy shift of their surface plasmon bands (SPB), was strongly dependent on the loading of the pyridinium moieties present in the organic layer of the AuNPs. Extensive aggregation between dodecanethiol‐capped AuNPs and the Ag calix[4]arene‐functionalised NPs was also promoted by the action of a simple N‐octyl pyridinium difunctional supramolecular linker. This linker can interdigitate through its long fatty tail in the organic layer of the dodecanethiol‐capped AuNPs, and simultaneously interact through its pyridinium moiety with the calix[4]arene units at the surface of the modified AgNPs.  相似文献

A new family of hyperbranched molecules and dendrimers has been constructed from a diamide–dicalix derivative prepared from monocarbomethoxymethyl p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (‘tren’) via amide-formation reactions. The selective 1,3-di-O-functionalization of p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene moieties allows the synthesis of first- (G1) and second-generation (G2) calix-dendrimers. Replacement of the quadridentate amine by a trithia-ether-triamine-mono-ol, ’hyten’, again results in acylation of the amino groups, but with the generation of a central cavity with different complexing properties.

Four novel diamines (9–12) were prepared by a two‐step procedure from phosphinated phenols (1–4) that were prepared from acid‐fragmentation of four bisphenols, including bisphenol A, 4,4′‐isopropylidenebis(2,6‐dimethylphenol), cis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane, and 9,9′‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)fluorene, followed by nucleophilic addition of 9,10‐dihydro‐oxa‐10‐phosphaphenanthrene‐10‐oxide (DOPO). Copolyimides based on (9–12) /4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA)/dianhydride were prepared. The structure‐property relationship on the copolyimides was discussed. Due to the structural similarity, (9) /ODA‐based copolyimides were compared with (10) /ODA‐based copolyimides, while (11) /ODA‐based copolyimides were compared with (12) /ODA‐based copolyimides. The dimethyl substitutents cause (10) /ODA‐based copolyimides to display higher Tg, modulus, dimensional stability, contact angle, and better solubility than (9) /ODA‐based copolyimides. (12) /ODA‐based copolyimides that exhibit fluorene moieties display higher Tg and thermal stability, but a lower contact angle and poorer solubility than (11) /ODA‐based copolyimides that exhibit cyclohexane moieties. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The cone conformation of C 4 symmetry is shown by the Hartree-Fock method (3-21G basis) to be the predominant conformer of calix[4]arene; the compressed cone of C 2 symmetry is the major conformer of calix[6]arene. Using quantum chemical methods we calculated hydrogen bond cleavage energies for calix[4]-(ab initio and density functional methods) and calix[6]arene (ab initio), and also for the complex of calix[4]arene with carbon disulfide. These energies along with structural data point to the cooperative effect of hydrogen bonds. The results of these studies provided an explanation to the greater conformational lability of calix[6]arene compared with calix[4]arene molecules. It is also predicted that the nucleophilic substitution reaction involving calix[6]arene in the presence of weak bases and in aprotic solvents, as well as in the gas phase, will occur via diastereomeric transition states.  相似文献

The versatility of cationic cyclopentadienyliron complexes is demonstrated for the generation of calix[4]arene‐based dendrimers and polymers. Dendrimers were prepared from a branched organoiron calix[4]arene through subsequent reactions of azo dyes and organoiron complexes. The resulting azo dye‐containing metallocalix[4]arenes were soluble in polar organic solvents and displayed λmax ranging between 430 and 456 nm. Upon addition of various acids, the λmax shifted to higher wavelengths (513–535 nm). In the solid state and in solution, the azo dye‐containing metallocalix[4]arenes reversibly changed colour in the presence of acid and base, indicating their potential use as acid sensors. Cyclic voltammetric studies showed that the iron centres of the metallocalix[4]arenes were reversibly reduced at E1/2 = −1.49 V. When non‐branching organoiron‐based calix[4]arene were reacted with dithiols, polymers containing calix[4]arenes either in their side chains or main chains were obtained. The polymers possessed weight average molecular weights between 35 000 and 53 000. The polymers were determined to be thermally stable with backbone decomposition occurring above 500 °C.

A series of novel copolyimides have been synthesized from three commercially available dianhydrides and two diamine monomers containing the tetrahydro[5]helicene unit. Some of the copolyimides were soluble in common organic solvents such as 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, N,N-dimethylacetamide, and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone. Molecular modeling was used to explain the enhanced solubility of the presented polyimides, based on structural features of the tetrahydro[5]helicene monomeric units. The onset temperatures for 5% weight loss for these polyimides, as assessed by thermogravimetry, were above 430°C in nitrogen. New photoreactive calixarene derivatives containing spiro ortho ester groups (calixarenes 3a–3c ) were synthesized by the reaction of 2‐bromomethyl‐1,4,6‐trioxaspiro[4.4]nonane with 2,8,14,20‐tetramethyl‐4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24‐octakis(carboxymethoxy)calix[4]resorcinarene, 5,11,17,23,29,35‐hexamethyl‐37,38,39,40,41,42‐hexakis(carboxymethoxy)calix[6]arene, and 5,11,17,23,29,35,41,47‐octa‐tert‐butyl‐49,50,51,52, 53,54,55,56‐octakis‐(carboxymethoxy)calix[8]arene, which were prepared by the reaction of C‐methylcalix[4]resorcinarene, p‐methylcalix[6]arene, and ptert‐butylcalix[8]arene, respectively. The thermal stability of the obtained calixarene derivatives containing spiro ortho ester groups was examined with thermogravimetric analysis, and it was found that these calixarene derivatives had good thermal stability. The photoinitiated cationic polymerization of spiro ortho ester groups in calixarene derivatives 3a–3c was examined with certain photoacid generators in the film state. Interestingly enough, the reaction of calixarene derivatives did not proceed with only photoirradiation; however, the reaction proceeded smoothly when the photoirradiation was followed by heating. Furthermore, calixarene 3a , composed of a C‐methylcalix[4]resorcinarene structure, showed the highest photochemical reactivity in this reaction system. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The competitive solvent extraction of alkaline earth metals using different nano-baskets was investigated. The novelty of this work is to study the correlations between the isomer structure of calixarenes and their extraction properties. The objective was to quantify the effects of aryl groups in the ionisable pendant moieties, calixarene conformation, steric orientations (cis- and trans-) and relative positions (ortho- and para-) of pendant moieties upon the extraction efficiency, pH1/2 and the selectivity of calix[4]arene complexes. Alkaline earth metals were extracted from aqueous solutions into chloroform by di-ionisable calix[4]arenes and were measured using ion chromatography. The results revealed that alternation of aryl group in the pendant moieties, changing their orientation from cis- to trans-analogues as well as from ortho- to para- analogues, showed no changes in the selectivity, the extraction efficiency and the pH1/2 of calix[4]arene complexes. Changing the scaffold of calixarene's ring to the cone, 1,2-alternate and partial-cone conformers altered their complexation ability towards alkaline earth metals and their extraction efficiency.  相似文献

Coordination of ten calix[4]arenes bearing boronic acid moieties with five monosaccharides was studied by fluorescence spectrometry. The stability constants (K2) of the complexes and Gibbs free energy change ( ‐ ΔG0) of the coordination reactions were calculated according to the modified Hilderbrand‐Benesi equation. The results obtained indicated that the coordination ability of D‐( ‐ )‐fructose with calix[4] arenes bearing boronic acid moieties was stronger than that of the other monosaccharides. And these calix[4]arene derivatives might be used for identification of L‐( ‐ )‐sorbose.  相似文献

1,1‐Bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]‐1‐phenylethane (BAPPE) was prepared through nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1,1‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)‐1‐phenylethane and p‐chloronitrobenzene in the presence of K2CO3 in N,N‐dimethylformamide, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C. Novel organosoluble polyimides and copolyimides were synthesized from BAPPE and six kinds of commercial dianhydrides, including pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA, Ia ), 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA, Ib ), 3,3′,4,4′‐ biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA, Ic ), 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA, Id ), 3,3′,4,4′‐diphenylsulfonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (DSDA, Ie ) and 4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidenediphthalic anhydride (6FDA, If ). Differing with the conventional polyimide process by thermal cyclodehydration of poly(amic acid), when polyimides were prepared by chemical cyclodehydration with N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as used solvent, resulted polymers showed good solubility. Additional, Ia,b were mixed respectively with the rest of dianhydrides (Ic–f) and BAPPE at certain molar ratios to prepare copolyimides with arbitrary solubilities. We first make use of aminolysis of calix[4]arene esters to synthesize calix[4]arene amides. When the two ethyl esters of the calix[4]arene esters are aminolysized, the 1, 3-amide derivative is formed selectively. The crystal structures of the calix-[4]arene with two butyl amide (3b) and four butyl amide moieties (4b) were determined. The intermolecular hydrogen bonds make 4b form two-dimensional net work insolid state. The 1H NMR spectra prove that 3b is of a pinched cone conformation, while 4b and tetraheptylamide-calix[4]arene (6b) take fast interconversion between two C2v isomers in solution and appear an apparent cone conformation at room temperature. As decreasing temperature, the interconversion rate decreases gradually and, finally, the interconversion process is frozen at Tc = -10℃, which makes both conformations of 4b and 6b the pinched cone structures. The hydrogen bond improves the interconversion barrier, and the large different values of the potential barrier between 6b and 4b (or 6b) may  相似文献

The central MnII ions in a series of calix[4]arene‐stabilised butterflies can be sequentially replaced with LnIII ions, maintaining the structural integrity of the molecule but transforming its magnetic properties. The replacement of MnII for GdIII allows for the examination of the transferability of spin‐Hamiltonian parameters within the family as well as permitting their reliable determination. The introduction of the 4f ions results in weaker intramolecular magnetic exchange, an increase in the number of low‐lying excited states, and an increase in magnetisation relaxation, highlighting the importance of exchange over single‐ion anisotropy for the observation of SMM behaviour in this family of complexes. The presence of the [TMII/III(TBC[4])(OH)(solvent)] metalloligand (TM=transition metal, TBC=ptBu‐calix[4]arene) suggests that magnetic calix[n]arene building blocks can be employed to encapsulate a range of different “guests” within structurally robust “hosts”.  相似文献

Novel calixarene‐centered amphiphilic A2B2 miktoarm star copolymers composed of two PCL arms and two PEG arms with calix[4]arene as core moiety were synthesized by the combination of CROP and “click” chemistry. First, a heterotetrafunctional calix[4]arene derivative with two hydroxyl groups and two alkyne groups was designed as a macroinitiator to prepare calixarene‐centered PCL homopolymers (C4‐PCL) by CROP in the presence of Sn(Oct)2 as catalyst at 110 °C. Next, azide‐terminated PEG (A‐PEG) was synthesized by tandem treating methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)s (mPEG) with 4‐chlorobutyryl chloride and NaN3. Finally, copper(I)‐catalyzed cycloaddition reaction between C4‐PCL and A‐PEG led to A2B2 miktoarm star copolymer [C4S(PCL)2‐(PEG)2]. 1H NMR, FT‐IR, and SEC analyses confirmed the well‐defined miktoarm star architecture. These amphiphilic miktoarm star copolymers could self‐assemble into multimorphological aggregates in water. The calix[4]arene moieties with a cavity <1 nm on the hydrophilic/hydrophobic interface of these aggregates may provide potential opportunities to entrap guest molecules for special applications in supermolecular science. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the thermal behavior of three hydrated water-soluble 4-sulphonato calix[n]arenes was investigated. The melting points, heats of fusion, and heats of solution of the calix[4]arene, calix[6]arene and calix[8]arene were 277, 262, and 270°C; 192, 242 and 351 kJ/mol; and 30, 58 and 63 kJ/mol, respectively. Lower heat of fusion, smaller increase in entropy and smaller heat of solution of the calix[4]arene compared to the calix[6]arene and calix[8]arene showed that less heat was required to break up the crystal lattice of the smaller macromolecule. This apparent anomaly is rationalized in terms of smaller cooperativity of interaction between the molecules of calix[4]arene in the crystal lattice, although the strength of the individual interactions is stronger as evidenced by the higher melting point. TGA analysis indicated that about 17–20% of water was associated with the calix[n]arenes. Both TGA and hot stage microscopy results indicated that upon heating these molecules underwent stepwise water loss. TGA kinetics showed that the 4-sulphonato-calix[8]arene lost water easier than the other two calixarenes. The moisture adsorption behavior of all calixarenes followed type II isotherms. For the same amount of material, the calix[6]arene adsorbed more moisture than the calix[4]arene and the calix[8]arene. Moreover, dehydrated less crystalline 4-sulphonic-calix[n]arenes powders are hydroscopic.
