This research proposes two heuristics and a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to find non-dominated solutions to multiple-objective unrelated parallel machine scheduling problems. Three criteria are of interest, namely: makespan, total weighted completion time, and total weighted tardiness. Each heuristic seeks to simultaneously minimize a pair of these criteria; the GA seeks to simultaneously minimize all three. The computational results show that the proposed heuristics are computationally efficient and provide solutions of reasonable quality. The proposed GA outperforms other algorithms in terms of the number of non-dominated solutions and the quality of its solutions.  相似文献

This study addresses a class of single-machine scheduling problems involving a common due date where the objective is to minimize the total job earliness and tardiness penalties. A genetic algorithm (GA) approach and a simulated annealing (SA) approach utilizing a greedy local search and three well-known properties in the area of common due date scheduling are developed. The developed algorithms enable the starting time of the first job not at zero and were tested using a set of benchmark problems. From the viewpoints of solution quality and computational expenses, the proposed approaches are efficient and effective for problems involving different numbers of jobs, as well as different processing time, and earliness and tardiness penalties.  相似文献

This paper addresses a vehicle scheduling problem encountered in home health care logistics. It concerns the delivery of drugs and medical devices from the home care company’s pharmacy to patients’ homes, delivery of special drugs from a hospital to patients, pickup of bio samples and unused drugs and medical devices from patients. The problem can be considered as a special vehicle routing problem with simultaneous delivery and pickup and time windows, with four types of demands: delivery from depot to patient, delivery from a hospital to patient, pickup from a patient to depot and pickup from a patient to a medical lab. Each patient is visited by one vehicle and each vehicle visits each node at most once. Patients are associated with time windows and vehicles with capacity. Two mixed-integer programming models are proposed. We then propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) and a Tabu Search (TS) method. The GA is based on a permutation chromosome, a split procedure and local search. The TS is based on route assignment attributes of patients, an augmented cost function, route re-optimization, and attribute-based aspiration levels. These approaches are tested on test instances derived from existing VRPTW benchmarks.  相似文献

One important issue in production and logistics management is the coordination of activities between production and delivery. In this paper, we develop a single-machine scheduling model that incorporates routing decisions of a delivery vehicle which serves customers at different locations. The objective is to minimize the sum of job arrival times. The problem is NP-hard in the strong sense in general. We develop a polynomial time algorithm for the case when the number of customers is fixed. More efficient algorithms are developed for several special cases of the problem. In particular, an algorithm is developed for the single-customer case with a complexity lower than the existing ones.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a double-track train scheduling problem for planning applications with multiple objectives. Focusing on a high-speed passenger rail line in an existing network, the problem is to minimize both (1) the expected waiting times for high-speed trains and (2) the total travel times of high-speed and medium-speed trains. By applying two practical priority rules, the problem with the second criterion is decomposed and formulated as a series of multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problems in order to explicitly model acceleration and deceleration times. A branch-and-bound algorithm with effective dominance rules is developed to generate Pareto solutions for the bicriteria scheduling problem, and a beam search algorithm with utility evaluation rules is used to construct a representative set of non-dominated solutions. A case study based on Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railroad in China illustrates the methodology and compares the performance of the proposed algorithms.  相似文献

This paper considers several scheduling problems where deliveries are made in batches with each batch delivered to the customer in a single shipment. Various scheduling costs, which are based on the delivery times of the jobs, are considered. The objective is to minimize the scheduling cost plus the delivery cost, and both single and parallel machine environments are considered. For many combinations of these, we either provide efficient algorithms that minimize total cost or show that the problem is intractable. Our work has implications for the coordination of scheduling with batch delivery decisions to improve customer service.  相似文献

We develop a search procedure for project scheduling problems with multiple resource constraints as well as precedence constraints. The procedure is applied to three popular search heuristics, simulated annealing, tabu search and genetic algorithms. In the heuristics, a solution is represented with a string of numbers each of which denotes priority of each activity. The priorities are used to select an activity for scheduling among competing ones. The search heuristics with this encoding method can always generate feasible neighbourhood solutions for a given solution. Moreover, this encoding method is very flexible in that problems with objective functions of a general functional form (such as a nonlinear function) and complex constraints can be considered without much difficulty. Results of computational tests on the performance of the search heuristics showed that the search heuristics, especially the simulated annealing and tabu search algorithms worked better than existing heuristics.  相似文献

Deteriorating jobs scheduling problems have been extensively studied in recent years. However, it is assumed that there is a common goal to minimize for all jobs in most of the research. In many management situations, multiple agents compete on the usage of a common processing resource. In this paper, we considered a single-machine scheduling problem with a linear deterioration assumption where the objective is to minimize the total weighted completion time of jobs from the first agent with the restriction that no tardy job is allowed for the second agent. We proposed a branch-and-bound algorithm and three heuristic algorithms to search for the optimal solution and near-optimal solutions, respectively. A computational experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms.  相似文献

We consider a multi-period multi-stop transportation planning problem (MPMSTP) in a one-warehouse multi-retailer distribution system where a fleet of homogeneous vehicles delivers products from a warehouse to retailers. The objective of the MPMSTP is to minimize the total transportation distance for product delivery over the planning horizon while satisfying demands of the retailers. We suggest two heuristic algorithms based on the column generation method and the simulated annealing algorithm. Computational experiments on randomly generated test problems showed that the suggested algorithms gave better solutions than an algorithm currently used in practice and algorithms modified from existing algorithms for vehicle routing problems.  相似文献

In this paper, a higher level heuristic procedure “tabu search” is proposed to provide good solutions to resource-constrained, randomized activity duration project scheduling problems. Our adaptation of tabu search uses multiple tabu lists, randomized short-term memory, and multiple starting schedules as a means of search diversification. The proposed method proves to be an efficient way to find good solutions to both deterministic and stochastic problems. For the deterministic problems, most of the optimal schedules of the test projects investigated are found. Computational results are presented which establish the superiority of tabu search over the existing heuristic algorithms.  相似文献

This paper discusses simple local search approaches for approximating the efficient set of multiobjective combinatorial optimization problems. We focus on algorithms defined by a neighborhood structure and a dominance relation that iteratively improve an archive of nondominated solutions. Such methods are referred to as dominance-based multiobjective local search. We first provide a concise overview of existing algorithms, and we propose a model trying to unify them through a fine-grained decomposition. The main problem-independent search components of dominance relation, solution selection, neighborhood exploration and archiving are largely discussed. Then, a number of state-of-the-art and original strategies are experimented on solving a permutation flowshop scheduling problem and a traveling salesman problem, both on a two- and a three-objective formulation. Experimental results and a statistical comparison are reported in the paper, and some directions for future research are highlighted.  相似文献

本文给出了一种离散的人工蜂群算法(HDABC)用于求解混合流水车间调度(HFS)问题。采用工件排序的编码方式,并设计了四种邻域结构。雇佣蜂依次分派到解集中每个解,采用结合问题特征的局部搜索策略完成挖掘搜索工作。跟随蜂随机选择两个解并挑选较优者作为当前解,完成进一步的探优过程。侦察蜂采用三种策略跳出局部极小。通过34个同构并行机HFS问题和2个异构并行机HFS实际调度问题的实验,并与当前文献中的典型算法对比,验证了本文提出的算法无论在算法时间还是在求解质量上,都具备良好的性能。  相似文献

It is well known that the flow-shop scheduling problem (FSSP) is a branch of production scheduling and is NP-hard. Now, many different approaches have been applied for permutation flow-shop scheduling to minimize makespan, but current algorithms even for moderate size problems cannot be solved to guarantee optimality. Some literatures searching PSO for continuous optimization problems are reported, but papers searching PSO for discrete scheduling problems are few. In this paper, according to the discrete characteristic of FSSP, a novel particle swarm optimization (NPSO) algorithm is presented and successfully applied to permutation flow-shop scheduling to minimize makespan. Computation experiments of seven representative instances (Taillard) based on practical data were made, and comparing the NPSO with standard GA, we obtain that the NPSO is clearly more efficacious than standard GA for FSSP to minimize makespan.  相似文献

The vehicle fleet mix problem is a special case of the vehicle routing problem where customers are served by a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles with various capacities. An efficient heuristic for determining the composition of a vehicle fleet and travelling routes was developed using tabu search and by solving set partitioning problems. Two kinds of problems have appeared in the literature, concerning fixed cost and variable cost, and these were tested for evaluation. Initial solutions were found using the modified sweeping method. Whenever a new solution in an iteration of the tabu search was obtained, optimal vehicle allocation was performed for the set of routes, which are constructed from the current solution by making a giant tour. Experiments were performed for the benchmark problems that appeared in the literature and new best-known solutions were found.  相似文献

The integration of scheduling workers to perform tasks with the traditional vehicle routing problem gives rise to the workforce scheduling and routing problems (WSRP). In the WSRP, a number of service technicians with different skills, and tasks at different locations with pre-defined time windows and skill requirements are given. It is required to find an assignment and ordering of technicians to tasks, where each task is performed within its time window by a technician with the required skill, for which the total cost of the routing is minimized. This paper describes an iterated local search (ILS) algorithm for the WSRP. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated on benchmark instances against an off-the-shelf optimizer and an existing adaptive large neighbourhood search algorithm. The proposed ILS algorithm is also applied to solve the skill vehicle routing problem, which can be viewed as a special case of the WSRP. The computational results indicate that the proposed algorithm can produce high-quality solutions in short computation times.  相似文献

We propose local search algorithms for the rectangle packing problem to minimize a general spatial cost associated with the locations of rectangles. The problem is to pack given rectangles without overlap in the plane so that the maximum cost of the rectangles is minimized. Each rectangle has a set of modes, where each mode specifies the width and height of the rectangle and its spatial cost function. The spatial costs are general piecewise linear functions which can be non-convex and discontinuous. Various types of packing problems and scheduling problems can be formulated in this form. To represent a solution of this problem, a pair of permutations of n rectangles is used to determine their horizontal and vertical partial orders, respectively. We show that, under the constraint specified by such a pair of permutations, optimal locations of the rectangles can be efficiently determined by using dynamic programming. The search for finding good pairs of permutations is conducted by local search and metaheuristic algorithms. We report computational results on various implementations using different neighborhoods, and compare their performance. We also compare our algorithms with other existing heuristic algorithms for the rectangle packing problem and scheduling problem. These computational results exhibit good prospects of the proposed algorithms. We present a variable neighborhood search approach for solving the one-commodity pickup-and-delivery travelling salesman problem. It is characterized by a set of customers such that each of the customers either supplies (pickup customers) or demands (delivery customers) a given amount of a single product, and by a vehicle, whose given capacity must not be exceeded, that starts at the depot and must visit each customer only once. The objective is to minimize the total length of the tour. Thus, the considered problem includes checking the existence of a feasible travelling salesman’s tour and designing the optimal travelling salesman’s tour, which are both NP-hard problems. We adapt a collection of neighborhood structures, k-opt, double-bridge and insertion operators mainly used for solving the classical travelling salesman problem. A binary indexed tree data structure is used, which enables efficient feasibility checking and updating of solutions in these neighborhoods. Our extensive computational analysis shows that the proposed variable neighborhood search based heuristics outperforms the best-known algorithms in terms of both the solution quality and computational efforts. Moreover, we improve the best-known solutions of all benchmark instances from the literature (with 200 to 500 customers). We are also able to solve instances with up to 1000 customers.  相似文献

This paper investigates the use of multi-objective methods to guide the search when solving single-objective optimisation problems with genetic algorithms. Using the job shop scheduling and travelling salesman problems as examples, experiments demonstrate that the use of helper-objectives (additional objectives guiding the search) significantly improves the average performance of a standard GA. The helper-objectives guide the search towards solutions containing good building blocks and help the algorithm escape local optima. The experiments reveal that the approach works if the number of simultaneously used helper-objectives is low. However, a high number of helper-objectives can be used in the same run by changing the helper-objectives dynamically. The experiments reveal that for the majority of problem instances studied, the proposed approach significantly outperforms a traditional GA.The experiments also demonstrate that controlling the proportion of non-dominated solutions in the population is very important when using helper-objectives, since the presence of too many non-dominated solutions removes the selection pressure in the algorithm.  相似文献
