Bimodules over nest algebras and Deddens' theorem

We generalize Deddens' theorem for nest algebras in the case of w*-closed nest algebras bimodules. For each such bimodule, we introduce a norm closed sub-bimodule of it, which corresponds to the radical of a nest algebra and describe it in a number of ways, generalizing known facts about nest algebras.

本文给出因子von Neumann代数中的幂等算子在广义Lie积下的一个刻画; 得到因子von Neumann代数中套子代数的幂等算子在Lie积下的一个特征．作为应用, 研究了因子von Neumann代数中套子代数上的Lie同构,并证明因子von Neumann 代数中套子代数之间的Lie同构,要么是同构与广义迹之和,要么是负反同构与广义迹之和．     

Intersections of nest algebras in finite dimensions

If are maximal nests on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space H, the dimension of the intersection of the corresponding nest algebras is at least dim H. On the other hand, there are three maximal nests whose nest algebras intersect in the scalar operators. The dimension of the intersection of two nest algebras (corresponding to maximal nests) can be of any integer value from n to n(n+1)/2, where n=dim H. For any two maximal nests there exists a basis {f₁,f₂,…,f_n} of H and a permutation π such that and where M_i=  span{f₁,f₂,…,f_i} and N_i= span{f_π(1),f_π(2),…,f_π(i)}. The intersection of the corresponding nest algebras has minimum dimension, namely dim H, precisely when π(j)=n−j+1,1jn. Those algebras which are upper-triangular matrix incidence algebras, relative to some basis, can be characterised as intersections of certain nest algebras.     

套代数上Lie同态的一个局部刻画（英文）

In this paper,linear maps preserving Lie products at zero points on nest algebras are studied.It is proved that every linear map preserving Lie products at zero points on any finite nest algebra is a Lie homomorphism.As an application,the form of a linear bijection preserving Lie products at zero points between two finite nest algebras is obtained.     

套代数上自同构的刻画

本文给出套代数上保零积或者保多项式零化线性映射的刻画,从而得到其上自同构的一些新特征和原子套代数上保零积可加映射的完全分类.     

Higher-dimensional virtual diagonals and ideal cohomology for triangular algebras

We investigate the cohomology of non-self-adjoint algebras using virtual diagonals and their higher-dimensional generalizations. We show that infinite dimensional nest algebras always have non-zero second cohomology by showing that they cannot possess 2-virtual diagonals. In the case of the upper triangular atomic nest algebra we exhibit concrete modules for non-vanishing cohomology.

Nest-subalgebras of von Neumann algebras

The structure of a certain class of separably acting reflexive operator algebras is investigated for which the nest algebras of J. Ringrose can be considered prototypes. To a fixed von Neumann algebra and a complete nest of projections contained therein one associates the algebra of all operators in the von Neumann algebra which leave every member of the nest invariant. A generalization of the Ringrose criterion for inclusion in the Jacobson radical of a nest algebra is given for this more general class of algebras. Further properties of the radical are studied.     

On the topological stable rank of non-selfadjoint operator algebras

We provide a negative solution to a question of M. Rieffel who asked if the right and left topological stable ranks of a Banach algebra must always agree. Our example is found amongst a class of nest algebras. We show that for many other nest algebras, both the left and right topological stable ranks are infinite. We extend this latter result to Popescu’s non-commutative disc algebras and to free semigroup algebras as well. K. R. Davidson, L. W. Marcoux, H. Derivations and isomorphisms of certain reflexive operator algebras

In this paper, we will prove that every derivation of completely distributive subspace lattice (CDS) algebras on Banach space is automatically continuous. This is new even in the Hilbert space case. As an application of this result, we obtain that every additive derivation of nest algebras on Banach spaces is inne. We will also prove that every isomorphism between nest algebras on Banach space is automatically continuous, and in addition, is spatial. Research supported by NSF of China and YSF of Shandong     

Linear Maps Preserving the Closure of Numerical Range on Nest Algebras with Maximal Atomic Nest

Let be a maximal atomic nest on Hilbert space H and denote the associated nest algebra. We prove that a weakly continuous and surjective linear map preserves the closure of numerical range if and only if there exists a unitary operator such that for every or for every , where denotes the transpose of T relative to an arbitrary but fixed base of H. As applications, we get the characterizations of the numerical range or numerical radius preservers on . The surjective linear maps on the diagonal algebras of atomic nest algebras preserving the closure of numerical range or preserving the numerical range (radius) are also characterized. Commutant lifting theorem and interpolation in discrete nest algebras

Ball in [Ba] showed that the commutant lifting theorem for the nest algebras due to Paulsen and Power gives a unified approach to a wide class of interpolation problems for nest algebras. By restricting our attention to the case when nest algebras associated with the problems are discrete we derive a variant of the commutant lifting theorem which avoids language of representation theory and which is sufficient to treat an analog of the generalized Schur-Nevannlinna-Pick (SNP) problem in the setting of upper triangular operators.     

Applications of Operator Space Theory to Nest Algebra Bimodules

Recently, Blecher and Kashyap have generalized the notion of W ^*-modules over von Neumann algebras to the setting where the operator algebras are σ closed algebras of operators on a Hilbert space. They call these modules weak* rigged modules. We characterize the weak* rigged modules over nest algebras. We prove that Y is a right weak* rigged module over a nest algebra Alg(M){\rm{Alg}(\mathcal M)} if and only if there exists a completely isometric normal representation F{\Phi } of Y and a nest algebra Alg(N){\rm{Alg}(\mathcal N)} such that Alg(N) F(Y)Alg(M) ì F(Y){\rm{Alg}(\mathcal N) \Phi (Y)\rm{Alg}(\mathcal M)\subset \Phi (Y)} while F(Y){\Phi (Y)} is implemented by a continuous nest homomorphism from M{\mathcal M} onto N{\mathcal N} . We describe some properties which are preserved by continuous CSL homomorphisms.     

Additive Jordan derivations of reflexive algebras

Additive Jordan derivations of certain reflexive algebras are investigated. In particular, additive Jordan derivations of nest algebras on Banach spaces are shown to be additive derivations.

令${\mathcal R}_1$, ${\mathcal R}_2$为两个含单位元$I$的环. 在${\mathcal R}_1$某些温和的假设条件下, 本文基于对完全保持乘子不动点映射的分类研究, 给出${\mathcal R}_1$到${\mathcal R}_2$的环同态和环同构的刻画. 然后给出在Banach代数、套代数、矩阵代数以及标准算子代数等算子代数方面的应用.
