We prove the existence of the very weak solution of the Dirichlet problem for the Navier—Stokes system with L 2 boundary data. Under the small data assumption we also prove the uniqueness. We use the penalization method to study the linearized problem and then apply Banach's fixed point theorem for the nonlinear problem with small boundary data. We extend our result to the case with no small data assumption by splitting the data on a large regular and small irregular part. Accepted 15 March 1999  相似文献

Abstract. In this paper we prove the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions for the stochastic Navier—Stokes equation in bounded and unbounded domains. These solutions are stochastic analogs of the classical Lions—Prodi solutions to the deterministic Navier—Stokes equation. Local monotonicity of the nonlinearity is exploited to obtain the solutions in a given probability space and this significantly improves the earlier techniques for obtaining strong solutions, which depended on pathwise solutions to the Navier—Stokes martingale problem where the probability space is also obtained as a part of the solution.  相似文献

In this article we consider the two-dimensional Navier—Stokes equations with free boundary condition (open surface), and derive a number of different results: a new orthogonal property for the nonlinear term, improved a priori estimates on the solution, an upper bound on the dimension of the attractor which agrees with the conventional theory of turbulence; finally, for elongated rectangular domains, an improved Lieb—Thirring (collective Sobolev) inequality leads to an upper bound on the dimension of the attractor which might be optimal. The long-time behavior of solutions for some feedback distributed control problems associated with the Bénard equations is studied. Some linear feedback solutions for the Bénard equations are constructed. Then we prove that these feedback solutions possess the decay (in time) properties. Accepted 5 March 2001. In this paper we look at the influence of the Coriolis force on the quasi-geostrophic equations on a domain with islands. We prove that asymptotically we obtain the solution of the Sverdrup equation with homogeneous Dirichlet conditions on the inward boundary plus a corrector function which takes into account the presence of the islands. This work is motivated by the fact that in oceanography most of the surfaces are not simply connected. This is the case for example for the North Pacific with the Japanese islands. At our knowledge, in all the previous mathematical works, just simply connected domains have been considered. Finally we will give some simple numerical simulations related to the Stommel model to see the importance of the corrector.  相似文献

The focus of this paper is on the analysis of the boundary layer and the associated vanishing viscosity limit for two classes of flows with symmetry, namely, Plane-Parallel Channel Flows and Parallel Pipe Flows. We construct explicit boundary layer correctors, which approximate the difference between the Navier–Stokes and the Euler solutions. Using properties of these correctors, we establish convergence of the Navier–Stokes solution to the Euler solution as viscosity vanishes with optimal rates of convergence. In addition, we investigate vorticity production on the boundary in the limit of vanishing viscosity. Our work significantly extends prior work in the literature.  相似文献

This paper deals with the optimal control of space—time statistical behavior of turbulent fields. We provide a unified treatment of optimal control problems for the deterministic and stochastic Navier—Stokes equation with linear and nonlinear constitutive relations. Tonelli type ordinary controls as well as Young type chattering controls are analyzed. For the deterministic case with monotone viscosity we use the Minty—Browder technique to prove the existence of optimal controls. For the stochastic case with monotone viscosity, we combine the Minty—Browder technique with the martingale problem formulation of Stroock and Varadhan to establish existence of optimal controls. The deterministic models given in this paper also cover some simple eddy viscosity type turbulence closure models. Accepted 7 June 1999  相似文献

We would like to concurrently route every demand on a single path from s to the corresponding terminal without violating the capacities. There are several interesting and important variations of this unsplittable flow problem. If the necessary cut condition is satisfied, we show how to compute an unsplittable flow satisfying the demands such that the total flow through any edge exceeds its capacity by at most the maximum demand. For graphs in which all capacities are at least the maximum demand, we therefore obtain an unsplittable flow with congestion at most 2, and this result is best possible. Furthermore, we show that all demands can be routed unsplittably in 5 rounds, i.e., all demands can be collectively satisfied by the union of 5 unsplittable flows. Finally, we show that 22.6% of the total demand can be satisfied unsplittably. These results are extended to the case when the cut condition is not necessarily satisfied. We derive a 2-approximation algorithm for congestion, a 5-approximation algorithm for the number of rounds and a -approximation algorithm for the maximum routable demand. The smoothing effect of the Cauchy problem for a class of kinetic equations is studied. We firstly consider the spatially homogeneous nonlinear Landau equation with Maxwellian molecules and inhomogeneous linear Fokker-Planck equation to show the ultra-analytic effects of the Cauchy problem. Those smoothing effect results are optimal and similar to heat equation. In the second part, we study a model of spatially inhomogeneous linear Landau equation with Maxwellian molecules, and show the analytic effect of the Cauchy problem.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the spreading speeds of a modified Lotka-Volterra predator-prey system; the intention is to describe the propagation mode whereby the two species coinvade a new habitat. Under some assumptions, it is proved that the spreading speed of the prey is slower than in the case where the predator vanishes, and the density of the prey on the coexistence domain is also smaller compared with the case where interspecies actions disappear. Therefore, the predator has a negative effect on the evolution of the prey by slowing the spreading speed and decreasing the population density of the prey.  相似文献

Dedicated to the memory of Paul Erdős We construct a system of subsets of a set of n elements such that the size of each set is divisible by 6 but their pairwise intersections are not divisible by 6. The result generalizes to all non-prime-power moduli m in place of m=6. This result is in sharp contrast with results of Frankl and Wilson (1981) for prime power moduli and gives strong negative answers to questions by Frankl and Wilson (1981) and Babai and Frankl (1992). We use our set-system to give an explicit Ramsey-graph construction, reproducing the logarithmic order of magnitude of the best previously known construction due to Frankl and Wilson (1981). This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness of global, periodic and stationary solutions for flows of incompressible viscoelastic fluids for which the extra-stress tensor satisfies a differential constitutive law.
