An alternative, nonelectrical method for obtaining a dense radiating plasma and the possibilities of using this method to pump solid-state lasers are investigated. The plasma was obtained experimentally by heating the working gas in a two-stage ballistic plasmatron. For fields above a critical value the expansion of the conductivity in powers of the field ceases to be valid and the weak-nonlinearity approximation no longer works. The density behavior of the critical fields in strongly inhomogeneous media near the percolation threshold is found on the basis of two criteria—an average criterion and a local criterion. The characteristics of the breakup of a charged drop in a uniform electrostatic field are calculated on the basis of Onsager’s principle of minimum dissipation of energy in nonequilibrium processes. The ranges of the physical parameters where daughter droplets are emitted from two tips and from one tip of an unstable parent drop and when emission is completely absent are found. Parametric excitation of spin waves in uniaxial ferrites with large anisotropy is investigated theoretically. First-order processes in a sphere with arbitrary orientation of an external static magnetic field, in which case the pumping is oblique, are studied. The conditions under which transition states arise and exist during the melting of germanium are identified by digital differential-thermal analysis. The pre-and postmelting cooperative effects arising under real conditions in dynamic and quasistatic regimes are nonequilibrium phase transitions and can be characterized by a system of thermodynamic parameters. Instability of the thermodynamic parameters of the transition states is observed in quasistatic regimes as a result of dynamic instability.
