The Milne problem is investigated subject to reflecting boundary conditions. The original version of the problem with vacuum boundary condition is generalized assigning, to the surface x=0, a specular reflection coefficient . Linearly anisotropic case is studied. The integral version of the transport equation solved using trial functions based on Case's eigenvalues and exponential integral function. Solution of the Milne problem is formulated in terms of characteristic parameters such as extrapolated end point, emergent angular distribution and total neutron density. Numerical results for the analytically evaluated parameters are then present. Some of our numerical results are compared with the available published results.  相似文献

We present an approach for analysing the dc current in voltage biased quantum superconducting junctions. By separating terms from different n -particle processes, we find that the n -particle current can be mapped on the problem of wave transport through a potential structure with n barriers. We discuss the relation between resonances in such structures and the subgap structures in the current–voltage characteristics. At zero temperature we find, exactly, that only processes creating real excitations contribute to the current. Our results are valid for a general SXS junction, where the X region is an arbitrary nonsuperconducting region described by an energy-dependent transfer matrix.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the effects of coupled thermo-hydro- mechanical dynamics on an isotropic, uniform, fully saturated, and poroelastic half-space subgrade whose surface is subjected to either mechanical force or thermal load. In this paper, our formulation is deduced in the context of two theories of generalized thermoelasticity: the Lord-Shulman theory and the Green-Lindsay theory. We then deduce the general relationships among non-dimensional vertical displacement, excess pore water pressure, vertical stress, and temperature distribution using Normal Mode Analysis (NMA) and depict them graphically. NMA is a method using weighted residuals to derive analytical solutions and can thus solve partial differential equations more quickly compared to other methods. This study continues our work of applying NMA to derive theoretical results in the multi-field coupling of soil. Following the analysis, the theoretical results are illustrated with a numerical example and a Maple program is developed. Furthermore, the differences between the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical dynamic model (THMD) and the thermo-elastic dynamic model (TED) are presented. This proposed derivation method can be widely applied in the geotechnical engineering field, especially with regard to the mechanical and thermal behaviors of commercial buildings, high-speed railways, and highway energy foundations.  相似文献

Magneto-transport and magneto-optical probes are used to interrogate spin-dependent transport in magnetic heterostructures wherein a two dimensional electron gas (2DEG) is exchange-coupled to local moments. At low temperatures, the significant s–d exchange-enhanced spin splitting in these “magnetic” 2DEGs is responsible for the observation of unusual transport properties such as a complete spin polarization of the gas at large Landau level filling factors and a pronounced, non-monotonic background magneto-resistance. Magneto-transport measurements of gated samples performed in a parallel field geometry are used to systematically study the variation of the magneto-resistance with sheet concentration, yielding new insights into the dependence of spin transport on the Fermi energy of the majority spin carriers.  相似文献

The spin-dependent conductance and magnetoresistance ratio (MRR) for a semiconductor heterostructures consisting of two magnetic barriers with different height and space have been investigated by the transfer-matrix method. It is shown that the splitting of the conductance for parallel and antiparallel magnetization configurations results in tremendous spin-dependent MRR, and the maximal MRRs reach 5300\% and 3800\% for the magnetic barrier spaces W=81.3 and 243.9~nm, respectively. The obtained spin-filtering transport property of nanostructures with magnetic barriers may be useful to magnetic-barrier-based spintronics.  相似文献

Propagation of unsteady waves under the effect of a step point load on a square lattice of springconnected masses is investigated. The problem is solved by two methods. Asymptotic solutions at large time intervals, which describe the behavior of long-wave perturbations, are derived analytically. The solution over the whole time interval for the waves of the entire spectral range is derived by the finite difference method. A general model of the equations of the Lord-Şulman theory including one relaxation time and the Green-Lindsay theory with two relaxation times, as well as the classical dynamical coupled theory, are applied to the study of the influence of reinforcement on the total deformation for an infinite space weakened by a finite linear opening mode-I crack. We study the influence of reinforcement on the total deformation of rotating thermoelastic half-space and their interaction with each other. The material is homogeneous isotropic elastic half space. The crack is subjected to prescribed temperature and stress distributions. The normal mode analysis is used to obtain the exact expressions for displacement components, force stresses, and temperature. The variations of the considered variables with the horizontal distance are illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results obtained in the three theories with and without rotation. Carrier transport in gated 2D graphene monolayers is considered in the presence of scattering by random charged impurity centers with density n(i). Excellent quantitative agreement is obtained (for carrier density n>10(12) cm(-2)) with existing experimental data. The conductivity scales linearly with n/n(i) in the theory. We explain the experimentally observed asymmetry between electron and hole conductivities, and the high-density saturation of conductivity for the highest mobility samples. We argue that the experimentally observed saturation of conductivity at low density arises from the charged impurity induced inhomogeneity in the graphene carrier density which becomes severe for n less, similarn(i) approximately 10(12) cm(-2).  相似文献

We study in detail the transport properties of a model of conducting electrons in the presence of double exchange between localized spins arranged on a 2D Kagome lattice, as introduced by Ohgushi, Murakami and Nagaosa. The relationship between the canting angle of the spin texture θ and the Berry phase field flux per triangular plaquette φ is derived explicitly and we emphasize the similarities between this model and Haldane's honeycomb lattice version of the quantum Hall effect. The quantization of the transverse (Hall) conductivity σ xy is derived explicitly from the Kubo formula and a direct calculation of the longitudinal conductivity σ xx shows the existence of a metal–insulator transition as a function of the canting angle θ (or flux density φ). This transition might be linked to that observable in the manganite compounds or in the pyrochlore ones, as the spin ordering changes from ferromagnetic to canted.  相似文献

建立了二维势场中弹性耦合粒子的输运模型, 其中一维上加交流驱动及噪声, 另一维上不加驱动及噪声, 分析讨论了过阻尼情形下系统和外部参量对定向流的影响. 结果表明, 粒子可以通过相互耦合使一个方向上输入的驱动能量转化到垂直方向上, 从而使无能量输入的方向产生定向流. 适当的弹簧自由长度及耦合强度可以使定向流达到极值, 特别是当耦合强度及噪声强度固定时, 定向流会随弹簧自由长度的变化而振荡, 出现多峰现象. 研究还发现, 定向流随噪声强度的变化出现随机共振现象. 当产生定向流方向上的势的不对称度达到一定程度时会出现流反转现象. 关键词: 弹性耦合 定向输运 随机共振 流反转  相似文献
