The spin dynamics of the positive muon undergoing cyclic charge exchange (μ+⇌Mu) while it is slowing down is compared with that in the case of repeated muonium spin exchange after thermalization. The expectation value of the spin polarization at timet aftern spin exchange collisions (att 1,t 2, ...,t n ) are calculated explicitly from time dependent wave functions, and the quantity is averaged over the statistical distribution of the times of collisions and over all possible numbers of collisions betweent=0 and the observation timet. This result is complementary and equivalent to the conventional density matrix formalism, but offers an insight into the roles of spin flip and spin non-flip processes. The neutral fraction during slowing down is also discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

A theoretical treatment of inelastic scattering of low energy particles from surfaces is developed which treats the regime of multiple quantum phonon exchange. Good agreement is obtained with recently measured multiphonon backgrounds in the scattering of He by alkali halide and metal surfaces over a large range of surface temperatures and incident conditions. The results show that the multiphonon scattered intensity can give important information on the particle-surface interaction potential.  相似文献

We show that formally for the standard ansatz relativistic point-coupling mean-field (RMF-PC) model a Lagrangian density is not equivalent in Hartree and Hartree-Fock approximations. The equivalency can be achieved only if we use a “complete” ansatz at the cost of introducing new parameters in the model. An approximate treatment of the exchange terms from standard RMF-PC indicates that these effects cannot be easily, if at all, absorbed by a Dirac-Hartree approximation.  相似文献

It is shown that the observed transformation of the ESR spectrum in polydiacetylene films upon doping with iodine agrees with an exchange interaction between the spin systems of localized paramagnetic centers (S) and polaron states (P) by means of which current-carrier transport occurs. The data obtained indicate carrier transport in the form of uncorrelated hops with probability determined by the lifetime of an exchange-coupled (S-P) pair. Fiz. Tverd. We discuss the spin structure ofN=L=0 andN=L=1 mesons in terms of the one-gluon exchange model with scalar confinement of quarks. SU(3)flavour is broken by taking different masses for the quarks and the SU (3) breaking of the nonperturbed hamiltonian is shown to be very important in understanding the hyperfine splittings in the ground state mesons, including the charmed states. A fit to the experimental mass spectrum is performed for theN=L=0 andN=L=1 levels simultaneously. The spin-orbit splittings of the spectrum cannot be explained by the convential terms from gluon exchange and scalar confinement. We argue that additional terms, which break the ideal mixing pattern, have to be present. The inclusion of such a term gives a dramatic improvement in χ2 and leads to an almost perfect fit to the data for masses and mixing angles.  相似文献

Amplitudes for A2 quantum number exchange in K±N scattering are determined at pL = 3, 4 and 6 GeV using new K±N CEX differential cross-section data supplemented by sum rule estimates of polarizations. Amplitudes for ? quantum number exchange are calculated from πN scattering by SU(3) octet symmetry. This is justified by K±N FESR, which furthermore are used to resolve ambiguities in the analysis. Comparison with other reactions involving charge and hyperchange exchange shows reasonable overall consistency between data, SU(3), and the tensor amplitudes. The phase of the A2s-channel helicity flip amplitude is well described by a Regge pole term with trajectory displaced downwards relative to that appropriate for the ? flip amplitude. This is shown to be the main mechanism contributing to the difference between differential cross sections for the K±N CEX processes, connected by line reversal. It is suggested that this mechanism may persist at higher energies. The A2 non-flip amplitude does not have the standard peripheral form.  相似文献

We study theoretically the nature of the indirect exchange interaction between localized moments in a semiconductor, mediated by the spin-dependent spatial polarization of the valence band electrons. The interaction drops off exponentially with the inter-spin distance and the decay constant depends on the energy gap and carrier effective masses. The sign of the interaction is ferromagnetic within our simplified model but could be reversed for some more complicated band edge structures.  相似文献

We perform a statistical study of weak efficiency in Deutschemark/US dollar exchange rates using high frequency data. The presence of correlations in the returns sequence implies the possibility of a statistical forecast of market behavior. The effect of quark exchange between different nucleons on the one pion exchange potential is studied in the framework of the resonating group method. The calculated phase shifts including the one pion exchange potential with quark exchange in addition to the one gluon plusσ meson exchange are shown to be consistent with experiments. Especially thep-wave phase shifts are improved by taking into account the quark exchange on the one pion exchange potential.  相似文献

We observe the movement of water over time between pores of differing sizes in Castlegate sandstone. To achieve this, we perform an NMR transverse relaxation exchange experiment for several mixing times. The resulting data are converted to 2D T2 distributions using a 2D inverse Laplace transform (ILT). We show for the first time that quantitative analysis of ILT distributions enables one to extract characteristic times for different pores sizes. This information is potentially useful for permeability determination as well as better understanding of exchange between specific pore subpopulations.  相似文献

This paper reports that a CoFe/IrMn bilayer was deposited by high vacuum magnetron sputtering on silicon wafer substrate; the thermal relaxation of the CoFe/IrMn bilayer is investigated by means of holding the film in a negative saturation field at various temperatures. The exchange bias decreases with increasing period of time while holding the film in a negative saturation field at a given temperature. Increasing the temperature accelerates the decrease of exchange field. The results can be explained by the quantitative model of the nucleation and growth of antiferromagnetic domains suggested by Xi H W et al. [2007 Phys. Rev. B 75 014434], and it is believed that two energy barriers exist in the investigated temperature range.  相似文献

A study has been made of highly nitrogenated pure iron and iron-aluminum alloy powder containing 2 wt.% Al (Fe-2Al) using Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The samples were prepared by high-temperature, high-pressure diffusion of nitrogen. They were prepared in a hot-isostatic-pressure (HIP) furnace at 1000 °C at nitrogen pressures up to 200 MPa. The alloy powders contained up to 8 at.% nitrogen as determined by vacuum fusion analysis. XRD analysis indicates that for the pure iron powders, the lattice spacing remained independent of nitrogen concentration, but that for the Fe-2Al powders, it decreased with increasing nitrogen concentration. Mössbauer analysis showed that for the pure iron powders, most of the nitrogen was associated with the formation of the iron nitride Fe4N. For the alloy powders containing less than 5 at.% nitrogen, all of the nitrogen was contained interstitially. The presence of nitrogen completely eliminated the conduction-electron spin-density oscillations observed in many ferromagnetic alloys.  相似文献
