Optimization and Stability Results Through Cone Lower Semicontinuity

We establish optimization results for set-valued mappings, with the image space given by a topological vector space partially ordered by a cone. Moreover, we obtain stability results relative to parametrized optimization problems. We use a weak semicontinuity concept related to the order structure of the image space and show how compactness assumptions used in previous papers can be lightened.     

Some applications of the image space analysis to the duality theory for constrained extremum problems

By means of the Image Space Analysis, duality properties of a constrained extremum problem are investigated. The analysis of the lower semicontinuity of the perturbation function, related to a right-hand side perturbation of the given problem, leads to a characterization of zero duality gap in the image space.     

Semicontinuity of the Approximate Solution Sets of Multivalued Quasiequilibrium Problems

We consider two kinds of approximate solutions and approximate solution sets to multivalued quasiequilibrium problems. Sufficient conditions for the lower semicontinuity, Hausdorff lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity, and closedness of these approximate solution sets are established. Applications in approximate quasivariational inequalities, approximate fixed points, and approximate quasioptimization problems are provided.     

Continuity of the efficient solution mapping for vector optimization problems

This paper aims at investigating the continuity of the efficient solution mapping of perturbed vector optimization problems. First, we introduce the concept of the level mapping. We give sufficient conditions for the upper semicontinuity and the lower semicontinuity of the level mapping. The upper semicontinuity and the lower semicontinuity of the efficient solution mapping are established by using the continuity properties of the level mapping. We establish a corollary about the lower semicontinuity of the minimal point set-valued mapping. Meanwhile, we give some examples to illustrate that the corollary is different from the ones in the literature.     

Semicontinuity of the solution set of parametric multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems

In this paper we establish sufficient conditions for the solution set of parametric multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems to be semicontinuous. All kinds of semicontinuity are considered: lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity and closedness. Moreover, we investigate both the “weak” and “strong” solutions of quasiequilibrium problems.     

On the Stability of the Solution Sets of General Multivalued Vector Quasiequilibrium Problems

We give sufficient conditions for the semicontinuity of solution sets of general multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems. All kinds of semicontinuities are considered: lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity, and closedness. Moreover, we investigate the weak, middle, and strong solutions of quasiequilibrium problems. Many examples are provided to give more insights and comparisons with recent existing results.     

Gap functions and error bounds for weak vector variational inequalities

In this article, by using the image space analysis, a gap function for weak vector variational inequalities is obtained. Its lower semicontinuity is also discussed. Then, these results are applied to obtain the error bounds for weak vector variational inequalities. These bounds provide effective estimated distances between a feasible point and the solution set of the weak vector variational inequalities.     

Epi and coepi-analysis of one class of vector-valued mappings

This article deals with a new characterization of lower semicontinuity of vector-valued mappings in normed spaces. We study the link between the lower semicontinuity property of vector-valued mappings and the topological properties of their epigraphs and coepigraphs, respectively. We show that if the objective space is partially ordered by a pointed cone with nonempty interior, then coepigraphs are stable with respect to the procedure of their closure and, moreover, the locally semicompact vector-valued mappings with closed coepigraphs are lower semicontinuous. Using these results we propose some regularization schemes for vector-valued functions. In the case when there are no assumptions on the topological interior of the ordering cone, we introduce a new concept of lower semicontinuity for vector-valued mappings, the so-called epi-lower semicontinuity, which is closely related to the closedness of epigraphs of such mappings, and study their main properties. All principal notions and assertions are illustrated by numerous examples.     

A note on existence of weak efficient solutions for vector equilibrium problems

This work concerns with vector equilibrium problems where the image space of the bifunction is not endowed with any topology. To be precise, a kind of “semi-algebraic” upper semicontinuity notion is introduced and, by means of a recent algebraic version of the so-called Gerstewitz’s functional, a new existence result of weak efficient solutions is obtained that significantly improves some previous ones stated in the topological setting since it requires weaker assumptions.

Outer semicontinuity of subdifferential and normal cone mappings

In finite dimensions, the outer semicontinuity of a set-valued mapping is equivalent to the closedness of its graph. In this article, we study the outer semicontinuity of set-valued mappings in connection with their convexifications and linearizations in finite and infinite dimensions. The results are specified to the case where the mappings involved are given by subdifferentials of extended real-valued functions or normal cones to sets. Our developments are important for applications to second-order calculus in variational analysis in which the outer semicontinuity plays a crucial role.     

Some sufficient conditions for lower semicontinuity in SBD and applications to minimum problems

We provide some lower semicontinuity results in the space of special functions of bounded deformation for energies of the type and give some examples and applications to minimum problems, arising in Fracture Mechanics for linearly elastic materials. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Convergence of set-valued mappings: Equi-outer semicontinuity

The concept of equi-outer semicontinuity allows us to relate the pointwise and the graphical convergence of set-valued-mappings. One of the main results is a compactness criterion that extends the classical Arzelà-Ascolì theorem for continuous functions to this new setting; it also leads to the exploration of the notion of continuous convergence. Equi-lower semicontinuity of functions is related to the outer semicontinuity of epigraphical mappings. Finally, some examples involving set-valued mappings are re-examined in terms of the concepts introduced here.Research supported in part by a grant of the National Science Foundation.     

About Semicontinuity of Set-valued Maps and Stability of Quasivariational Inclusions

We propose several additional kinds of semi-limits and corresponding notions of semicontinuity of a set-valued map. They can be used additionally to known basic concepts of semicontinuity to have a clearer insight of local behaviors of maps. Then, we investigate semicontinuity properties of solution maps to a general parametric quasivariational inclusion, which is shown to include most of optimization-related problems. Consequences are derived for several particular problems. Our results are new or generalize/improve recent existing ones in the literature.     

Metric characterizations of upper semicontinuity

We characterize upper semicontinuity of multifunctions in terms of upper Hausdorff semicontinuity, measure of non compactness and active boundary. The results are applicable in optimization, theory of best approximation and in metrizability theory.     

Approximate selections of almost lower semicontinuous multimaps in C-spaces

We study the relations of almost lower semicontinuity, lower semicontinuity and other generalized lower semicontinuity; then we establish a new approximate selection theorem for almost lower semicontinuous multimaps with the generalized Zima type condition in C$C$-spaces. Our result unify and extend the approximate selection theorems in many published works.     

Continuity of the optimal value function in indefinite quadratic programming

This paper characterizes the continuity property of the optimal value function in a general parametric quadratic programming problem with linear constraints. The lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity properties of the optimal value function are studied as well.     

Semicontinuity Results on Parametric Vector Variational Inequalities with Polyhedral Constraint Sets

New results on the lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity properties of the Pareto solutions to a parametric vector variational inequality with a polyhedral constraint set are obtained by scalarization approaches.

Continuity of the solution mappings to parametric generalized strong vector equilibrium problems

In this paper, we establish the upper semicontinuity and lower semicontinuity of solution mappings to a parametric generalized strong vector equilibrium problem with setvalued mappings by using a scalarization method and a density result. The results improve the corresponding ones in the literature. Some examples are given to illustrate our results.
