We report measurements of direct CP-violating asymmetries in charmless decays of neutral bottom hadrons to pairs of charged hadrons with the upgraded Collider Detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. Using a data sample corresponding to 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, we obtain the first measurements of direct CP violation in bottom strange mesons, A(CP)(B(s)(0)→K(-)π(+))=+0.39±0.15(stat)±0.08(syst), and bottom baryons, A(CP)(Λ(b)(0)→pπ(-))=+0.03±0.17(stat)±0.05(syst) and A(CP)(Λ(b)(0)→pK(-))=+0.37±0.17(stat)±0.03(syst). In addition, we measure CP violation in B(0)→K(+)π(-) decays with 3.5σ significance, A(CP)(B(0)→K(+)π(-))=-0.086±0.023(stat)±0.009(syst), in agreement with the current world average. Measurements of branching fractions of B(s)(0)→K(+)K(-) and B(0)→π(+)π(-) decays are also updated.  相似文献

The experimental observation of lepton-number violating processes would unambiguously indicate the Majorana nature of neutrinos. Various ΔL=2 processes for pseudoscalar meson M 1 decays to another pseudoscalar meson M 2 and two charged leptons ? 1, ? 2 (\(M_{1}^{+}\rightarrow \ell_{1}^{+}\ell_{2}^{+}M_{2}^{-}\)) have been studied extensively. Extending the existing literature on the studies of these kinds of process, we consider the rare decays of heavy mesons to a vector meson or a pseudoscalar meson. These processes have not been searched for experimentally, while they may have sizable decay rates. We calculate their branching fractions and propose to search for these decay modes in the current and forthcoming experiments, in particular at the LHCb.  相似文献

We briefly discuss measurements of angles β and α of the unitarity triangle. We then review rate asymmetries usingSU(3) relationships in the standard model (SM). Some methods to measure angle y usingSU(3) are then discussed. We note that rate forb → can be used to set limits on extra dimensions in which standard model particles propagate.  相似文献

In this study, we analyze the rare decays of the neutral vector mesons J/ψ and Υ(nS) in the scenario of the minimal R-symmetric supersymmetric standard model using the effective Lagrangian method. The predicted branching ratios are dominated by the mass insertion parameters δij, i.e., the off-diagonal inputs, and the contributions of different parts are comparable. Taking into account the experimental constraints on the mass insertion parameters, the predicted branching ratios for the...  相似文献

We study the time dependence of the integrated asymmetries in strangeness of kaons in the decays in two and three pions and in two photons with the purpose of disentangling theCP violating effects in the decay amplitudes from the ones related to the mass matrix. We find two cases where they are not reduced by the I=1/2 rule or hidden byCP violation in the mass matrix, namely the strangeness-energy correlation of the charged pions in the prompt decay ( S ) in +-0, and the decays in two photons. The semileptonic decays are also briefly studied.  相似文献

The search for CP violating forces between nucleons in the so-called axion window of force ranges λ between 2 × 10?5 m and 0.02 m is interesting because only little experimental information is available there. Axionlike particles would induce a pseudo-magnetic field for neutrons close to bulk matter. A laboratory search investigates neutron spin precession close to a heavy mirror using ultracold neutrons in a magnetic resonance spectrometer. From the absence of a shift of the magnetic resonance we established new constraints on the coupling strength of axion-like particles in terms of the product g s g p of scalar and pseudo-scalar dimensionless constants, as a function of the force range λ, g s g p λ2 ≤ 2 × 10?21 [cm2] (C.L.95%) for 10?4 cm < λ < 1 cm. For 0.1 cm < λ < 1 cm previous limits are improved by 4 to 5 orders of magnitude.  相似文献

The effects of flavor mixing in electroweak baryogenesis is investigated in a generalized semiclassical WKB approach. Through calculating the non-adiabatic corrections to the particle currents, it is shown that extra CP violation sources arise from the off-diagonal part of the equation of motion of particles moving inside the bubble wall. This type of mixing-induced source is of first order in a derivative expansion of the Higgs condensate, but it is oscillation suppressed. The numerical importance of the mixing-induced source is discussed in the minimal supersymmetric standard model and compared with the source term induced by a semiclassical force. It is found that in a large parameter space where oscillation suppression is not strong enough, the mixing-induced source can dominate over that from the semiclassical force.  相似文献

We study the influence of penguin (especially, electroweak penguin) effects on some methods of measuring the angles α, β, and γ in the CKM unitarity triangle. We use next-to-leading order effective Hamiltonian, and present numerical estimates based on the factorization approximation. We find that some techniques suggested in the literature, especially for α determination, are not workable in light of the electroweak penguin effects. Nevertheless, there are methods that would work for each angle determination. For angle β we consider B → D +D- mode and estimate the penguin contamination. For angle γ we consider a method based on SU(3) symmetry and carefully consider SU(3) breaking effects. We point out regions in the parameter space where this method could be used reliably.  相似文献

We propose that the CP violating phase in the CKM mixing matrix is identical to the CP phases responsible for the spontaneous CP violation in the Higgs potential. A multi-Higgs model with Peccei–Quinn (PQ) symmetry is constructed to realize this idea. The CP violating phase does not vanish when all Higgs masses become large. In general, here are flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions mediated by neutral Higgs bosons at the tree level. However, unlike general multi-Higgs models, the FCNC Yukawa couplings are fixed in terms of the quark masses and CKM mixing angles. Implications for meson–anti-meson mixing, including recent data on D–D̄ mixing, and the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron are studied. We find that the neutral Higgs boson masses can be at the order of one hundred GeV. The neutron EDM can be close to the present experimental upper bound.  相似文献

A specific ansatz for the Yukawa couplings of a four-generation SU(2)L×U(1) model with two Higgs doublets is discussed which leads to neutral flavour conservation, spontaneous CP violation and to a genuinely complex mixing matrix. W exchange conserves CP in the limit mt′ = mt only. The decay rate for t→b is reduced by factor two compared to the standard model wit three generations. The phenomenological implications for K0−K̄0 and B0−B̄0 are investigated.  相似文献

Quantum teleportation using neutral pseudoscalar mesons shows novel connections between particle physics and quantum information. The projection basis, which is crucial in the teleportation process, is determined by the conservation laws of particle physics and is different from the Bell basis, as in the usual case. Here we show that one can verify the teleportation process by CP measurement. This method significantly simplifies the high energy quantum teleportation protocol. Especially, it is rigorous and independent of whether CP is violated in weak decays. This method can also be applied to general verification of Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen correlations in particle physics. PACS  14.40.Aq; 13.90.+i; 03.67.Mn  相似文献

In the MSSM with complex parameters, loop corrections to the decay of a stop into a bottom quark and a chargino can lead to a CP violating decay rate asymmetry. We calculate this asymmetry at full one-loop level and perform a detailed numerical study, analyzing the dependence on the parameters and complex phases involved. If the stop can decay into a gluino, the self-energy and the vertex correction dominate due to the strong coupling. It is shown that the vertex contribution is always suppressed. We therefore give a simple approximate formula for the asymmetry. We account for the constraints on the parameters coming from several experimental limits. Asymmetries up to 25 percent are obtained. We also comment on the feasibility of measuring this asymmetry at the LHC.  相似文献

We point out an elegant mechanism to predict a maximal atmospheric angle, which is based on a maximal CP violating phase difference between second and third lepton families in the flavour symmetry basis. In this framework, a discussion of the general formulas for θ12θ12, |Ue3||Ue3|, δ   and their possible correlations in some limiting cases is provided. We also present an explicit realisation in terms of an SO(3)SO(3) flavour symmetry model.  相似文献

We study the possibility of identifying the CP violating phases in the PMNS mixing matrix in the lepton sector and also that in the CKM mixing matrix in the quark sector with the phase responsible for the spontaneous CP violation in the Higgs potential, and some implications. Since the phase in the CKM mixing matrix is determined by experimental data, the phase in the lepton sector is also fixed. The mass matrix for neutrinos is constrained, leading to constraints on the Jarlskog CP violating parameter J, and the effective mass 〈m ββ 〉 for neutrinoless double beta decay. The Yukawa couplings are also constrained. Different ways of identifying the phases have different predictions for \(\mu\to e e\bar{e}\) and \(\tau\to l_{1} l_{2} \bar{l}_{3}\). Future experimental data can be used to distinguish different models.  相似文献

The spin parity (JP) of the hadronic system produced in OZI violating vector decays V → γ + h is analyzed in the lowest order QCD approach. While the predicted rates for 0± states agree with the data, theoretically unacceptable anomalies occur for even J ≠ 0, P = +1, channels. Experimental consequences are drawn. We argue that the rate for gluon jet emission in V → γ + 2 gluons is substantially smaller than previously stated.  相似文献

We investigate \(M^0 - \bar M^0 \) mixing and CP violation in the minimal left-right symmetric gauge model with spontaneous P and CP violation. The dominant contributions to the mixing amplitude including QCD corrections are calculated explicitly for \(B^0 - \bar B^0 \) . While the amount of mixing is not much changed with respect to the standard model leftright symmetry can give rise to significantly larger CP violation in the \(B_s^0 - \bar B_s^0 \) system (up to two orders of magnitude for the dilepton charge asymmetry). Sizable CP violating effects require that the left-right contribution to theK L K S mass difference has the same sign as the standard model contribution. We also comment on \(D^0 - \bar D^0 \) mixing including a careful discussion of the standard model prediction for the short distance part.  相似文献
