An acid form of ricin — ricin T — with a molecular weight of 58 kDa, an isoelectric point, pI, of 7.0–7.1, and a sedimentation coefficient of 4.60 S has been isolated from the seeds of the Central Asian castor-oil plantRicinus communis by gel filtration on Sephadex G-75 followed by ion exchange chromatography on DEAE- and CM-celluloses. It has been established that the biomass of isolates ofFusarium graminearum Schw. that form nivalenol on grain contain two of its structural analogs — 7-deoxynivalenol and 4-acetylnivalenol (fusarenon X). A method is proposed for the quantitative determination of solasodine by HPLC on a Millikhrom domestic microcolumn chromatograph. The amounts of solasodine in various cell lines ofSolanum laciniatum have been determined. It has been shown that the genetic transformation leads to a substantial increase in the amount of solasodine in the biomass. Amounts of solasodine in multishoot cultures are comparable with its amount in normal mature plants.M. A. The molecular mass (Mr) of highly purified glucose isomerase fromStreptomyces atratus has been determined. The native glucose isomerase, which has affinity for xylose, consists of an oligomeric protein containing 1552 amino acid residues and formed of four subunits. The class compositions of the lipids of leaf vegetables —Spinacea oleracea (variety Ispolinskii),Latuca sativa (variety Kucheryavets Odesskii), andRumex acetosa (variety Odesskii-17) have been studied. The compositions of their NLs (17 groups of individual compounds were identified), GLs (nine groups of compounds were found), and PhLs (seven groups of compounds have been found) have been determined by physicochemical methods of analysis.
