The method of characteristics is used to obtain an analytical solution describing the thickness vibrations of a piezoelectric layer polarized across the thickness and subjected to a nonstationary electric potential. The features of how the vibrations are excited and propagate under electric loading are studied. The dynamic electromechanical state of the layer is analyzed. This paper presents a theoretical method to investigate the multiple scattering of electro-elastic waves and the dynamic stress around a buried cavity in a functionally graded piezoelectric material layer bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric material. The analytical solutions of wave fields are expressed by employing wave function expansion method, and the expanded mode coefficients are determined by satisfying the boundary conditions around the cavity. The image method is used to satisfy the mechanical and electrically short conditions at the free surface of the structure. According to the analytical expression of this problem, the numerical solutions of the dynamic stress concentration factor around the cavity are presented. The effects of the piezoelectric property, the position of the cavity in the layer, the incident wave number and the material properties on the dynamic stress around the cavity are analyzed. Analyses show that the piezoelectric property has great effect on the dynamic stress in the region of higher frequencies, and the effect increases with the decrease of the thickness of FGPM layer. If the material properties of the homogeneous piezoelectric material are greater than those at the surface of the structure, the dynamic stress resulting from the piezoelectric property is greater. The effect material properties at the two boundaries of FGPM layer on the distribution of dynamic stress around the cavity is also examined.  相似文献

We theoretically study the existence conditions for Love waves in a layer with arbitrary thickness and arbitrary physical and mechanical properties on a regularly laminated half-space. Also we analyze the behavior of the dispersion curves depending on the physical and geometrical properties of the layer and the mechanical properties of the upper layer of the half-space. 设计了一种箭形负泊松比的蜂窝基座结构,推导了其胞元结构的力学性能解析公式,并利用有限元方法研究了具有厚度梯度箭形负泊松比蜂窝材料的抗冲击性能。基于功能梯度材料,其基体呈连续梯度变化的概念,以胞元壁厚为自变量,设计了顺厚度梯度、逆厚度梯度型和均匀厚度的蜂窝层,并建立基座模型。在基座质量不变的前提下具体讨论了蜂窝胞元凹角及厚度梯度的不同设置情况对基座抗冲击性能的影响。结果表明,相同梯度设置情况下,胞角的变化会引起蜂窝结构等效弹性模量的变化,进而改变基座的抗冲击性能,而将胞壁厚度较小的蜂窝层放置于迎冲端时,基座整体的应力水平明显降低;将壁厚较大的蜂窝层放置于迎冲端时,基座面板的输出冲击环境能够有效地得到控制。  相似文献

Off-road terrain can often be regarded as a finite thickness ground consisting of a soft soil layer on a rigid base. Experiments for the traveling performance of a wheel in a dense sand layer on a rigid base revealed that as the soil layer thickness decreases under the condition of high constant slip, the drawbar pull does not increase monotonically but increases gradually to a maximal value, then decreases to a minimal value, and thereafter again increases rapidly to the highest value at zero soil layer thickness. The mechanical interpretation of the relationship between the drawbar pull and the soil layer thickness is given qualitatively from the aspects of the shear characteristics of dense sand and the rigid-body friction between the wheel and the rigid base of the soil layer. It is indicated that the relationship takes the same form as van der Waals' state equation for the pressure and the volume of an imperfect gas with a phase transition between gas and liquid. The equation representing the relationship of the drawbar pull to the soil layer thickness is proposed in accordance with van der Waals' equation.  相似文献

A continuum model of plasticity, Phenomenological Mesoscopic Field Dislocation Mechanics (PMFDM), is used to study the effect of surface passivation, grain orientation, grain boundary constraints, and film thickness on the mechanical response of multicrystalline thin films. The numerical experiments presented in this paper show that a surface passivation layer on thin films introduces thickness dependence of the mechanical response. However, the effect of passivation decreases in films with impenetrable grain boundaries. The orientation of individual grains of the multicrystal also has a significant effect on the mechanical response. Our results are in qualitative agreement with experimental observations. A primary contribution of this work is the implementation of a jump condition that enables the modeling of important limits of grain boundary constraints to plastic flow, independent of ad-hoc constitutive assumptions and interface conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamic stability of laminated hybrid composite plates subjected to periodic uniaxial stress and bending stress is studied. The governing equations of motion of Mathieu-type are established by using the Galerkin method with reduced eigenfunctions transforms. Based on Bolotin's method the regions of dynamic instability of laminated hybrid composite plates are determined by solving the eigenvalue problems. The effects of layer thickness ratio, layer number, core material and load parameter on the dynamic instability of laminated hybrid composite plates are investigated and discussed.  相似文献

Summary The effect of surface mass flux on the non-Darcy natural convection over a horizontal flat plate in a saturated porous medium is studied using similarity solution technique. Forchheimer extension is considered in the flow equations. The suction/injection velocity distribution has been assumed to have power function form Bx l , similar to that of the wall temperature distribution Ax n , where x is the distance from the leading edge. The thermal diffusivity coefficient has been assumed to be the sum of the molecular diffusivity and the dynamic diffusivity due to mechanical dispersion. The dynamic diffusivity is assumed to vary linearly with the velocity component in the x direction, i.e. along the hot wall. For the problem of constant heat flux from the surface (n=1/2), similarity solution is possible when the exponent l takes the value −1/2. Results indicate that the boundary layer thickness decreases whereas the heat transfer rate increases as the mass flux parameter passes from the injection domain to the suction domain. The increase in the thermal dispersion parameter is observed to favor the heat transfer by reducing the boundary layer thickness. The combined effect of thermal dispersion and fluid suction/injection on the heat transfer rate is discussed. Received 7 December 1995; accepted for publication 7 January 1997  相似文献

采用表面机械滚压处理(surface mechanical rolling treatment,SMRT)技术在316L奥氏体不锈钢表面构筑了梯度纳米结构层. 利用透射电子显微镜(TEM)和纳米压痕仪等分析其微观组织、力学性能等基础上,重点探讨了SMRT前后316L在1 mol/L HCl溶液(以纯水环境作为对比组)中的摩擦学行为. 结果表明:经SMRT加工后316L表面梯度纳米晶层厚度达200 μm以上,表面硬化层厚度超过1.5 mm,表面硬度提升至基体近2倍;SMRT大大减缓了材料磨损,与基体试样相比,SMRT试样在腐蚀介质下减摩效果比纯水环境更明显,且在腐蚀环境下表现出优异的耐腐蚀性能,其磨损机制由处理前伴随严重剥落特征的疲劳磨损和磨粒磨损转变为轻微疲劳磨损. 因此,316L不锈钢机械滚压梯度纳米层在腐蚀服役环境下具有较高的潜在工程应用价值.   相似文献

Dynamic indentation of an elastic-plastic multi-layered medium by a rigid rough surface that exhibits fractal behavior was analyzed with the finite element method. A sufficiently large mesh was used to avoid the effects of the faster propagating dilatation waves after they were reflected from the artificial mesh boundaries. Single-indentation results illustrate the significance of the thickness of the surface layer and the indentation speed on the contact pressure distribution and subsurface stresses and strains. The initiation of yielding and the development of plasticity are interpreted in the context of results for the von Mises equivalent stress and equivalent plastic strain obtained during the loading and unloading phases of an indentation cycle. Cumulative plasticity and elastic shakedown are discussed in light of results revealing the evolution of deformation in the multi-layered medium due to cyclic indentation. The analysis provides insight into the importance of indentation speed, layer thickness, surface topography, and indentation cycle on the mechanical response of a multi-layered medium in dynamic contact with a rough surface exhibiting multi-scale (fractal) roughness.  相似文献

Effects of surface property on the static and fatigue strength of metal cylinders is determined by analysis of the redistribution of stress and energy density. Because the mechanical constraints on the material elements in a surface layer differ so drastically from those in the interior or bulk, changes of mechanical properties in a thin surface layer can significantly alter the global behavior of a metal part. Desirable gain in mechanical strength due to surface treatments such as laser spraying, ion implantation, etc. is now well known. Developed in this work is a method for evaluating the enhancement of the static and fatigue life of metals when their mechanical properties in a thin surface layer of material are improved. An extensive increase in the surface layer thickness does not lead to appreciable changes of mechanical strength.  相似文献

The dynamics and heat and mass exchange of a vapor bubble containing a heated particle is studied in relation to the problem of vapor explosions. It is shown that the process involves two stages: dynamic stage and thermal stage. The dynamic stage is characterized by pressure fluctuations and a rapid increase in the thickness of the vapor layer. A systematic study was performed on mechanical and microstructural properties of Ti/Ni multilayers with layer thickness from 200 nm to 6 nm and annealing temperature from room temperature to 500 °C. Based on the observed hardness evolution, a coupled layer-thickness and annealing-temperature dependent strengthening mechanism map is proposed. For as-deposited films, the deformation behavior follows the traditional trend of dislocation mediated strengthening to grain boundary mediated softening with decreasing layer thickness. For annealed films, grain boundary relaxation is considered to be the initial strengthening mechanism with higher activation temperature required for thicker layers. Under further annealing, solid solution hardening, intermetallic precipitation hardening, and fully intermixed alloy structure continue to strengthen the thin layered films, while recrystallization and grain-growth lead to the eventual softening of thick layered films. For the films with intermediate layer thickness, a strong orientation dependent hardness behavior is exhibited under high temperature annealing due to mechanism switch from grain growth softening to intermetallic precipitation hardening when changing the loading orientation from perpendicular to parallel to the layer interfaces.  相似文献

The forced monoharmonic bending vibrations and dissipative heating of a piezoelectric circular sandwich plate under monoharmonic mechanical and electrical loading are studied. The core layer is passive and viscoelastic. The face layers (actuators) are piezoelectric and oppositely polarized over the thickness. The plate is subjected to harmonic pressure and electrical potential. The viscoelastic behavior of the materials is described by complex moduli dependent on the temperature of heating. The coupled nonlinear problem is solved numerically. A numerical analysis demonstrates that the natural frequency, amplitude of vibrations, mechanical stresses, and temperature of dissipative heating can be controlled by changing the area and thickness of the actuator. The effect of turbulization of a subsonic air flow on the boundarylayer structure was experimentally studied during evaporation and combustion of ethanol behind an obstacle 3–6 mm high. It is shown that turbulization increases the thermal boundarylayer thickness by a factor of 2, where as the dynamic boundarylayer thickness changes weakly. For 1–18% turbulence at the entrance, the change in the momentum thickness along the channel is close to the change in the momentum thickness for a laminar isothermal boundary layer without injection. Local regions of elevated turbulence with a high intensity of heat and mass transfer arise in the case of combustion behind the obstacle at a distance of 40–50 obstacle heights.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with an investigation into the thermal spray process and is particularly concerned with the residual stresses that arise when a steel-alloy coating is sprayed onto a copper-alloy substrate. This material combination was used recently to enhance the thermal and mechanical efficiency of the pressure die casting process. A difficulty with the spraying of steel on copper is the attainment of appreciable thickness of the coating due to debonding during the thermal spraying process. Prominent among possible causes of debonding is residual stress, which is the focus of the research presented in the paper. An investigation into the thermal spray process is performed using experimentation, simplified numerical modelling and finite element modelling. The development of residual stress for a range of process parameters, i.e. deposited layer thickness, interval of layer deposition and the number of layers in a coating (i.e. block deposition versus multilayer deposition for a desired coating thickness) is recorded. The results from the three investigation methods agreeably indicate a progressive change in average interfacial residual stress from compressive towards tensile with increase in thickness of deposited layer; and a tensile interfacial stress in a two-layer coating, which increases with increase in interval of deposition between the two layers. On the whole, the observations from the results suggest an increase in potential for coating debonding with increase in both deposited layer thickness and layer deposition interval. The results further suggest higher potential for coating debonding with block deposition compared to multilayer deposition for a desired coating thickness.  相似文献
