A new approach that uses mixed supercritical solvents of water/1-propanol and water/methanol (400 °C, 40 MPa) to prepare morphology-controlled precursor materials in a very short reaction time, such as 10 min, followed by calcinations has been developed to form Eu(3+):Y(2)O(3) microspheres of 2-3 μm in diameter or microcubes of 2-3 μm in side length, respectively. Eu(3+):Y(2)O(3) microspheres and microcubes exhibited strong red emission at 610 nm corresponding to (5)D(0) → (7)F(2) transition. The highest photoluminescence emission was obtained for the microspheres after calcination at 1000 °C for 1 h in air.  相似文献

One-dimensional Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO(4))(6)O: Ln(3+) (Ln=Eu, Tb) microfibers were fabricated by a simple and cost-effective electrospinning method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) confirmed that the fibers were composed of hexagonal Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO4)(6)O phase. Thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) results showed that the Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO4)(6)O phase began to crystallize at 740°C. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that the diameter of as-prepared microfibers ranged from 390 to 900 nm and the diameter of the microfibers annealed at 1000°C ranged from to 120 to 260 nm. Under ultraviolet and low-voltage electron beams (3-5 kV) excitation, the Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO(4))(6)O: Ln(3+) (Ln=Eu, Tb) samples showed the red and green emission, corresponding to (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) and (5)D(4)→(7)F(5) transition of Tb(3+), respectively.  相似文献

Well crystallized nanoplates of the (Y(0.95-x)Gd(x)Eu(0.05))(2)(OH)(5)NO(3)·nH(2)O ternary layered rare-earth hydroxides (LRHs), synthesized hydrothermally, have been investigated with emphasis on the effects of Gd(3+) substitution for Y(3+) on the structural features and optical properties. Characterizations of the materials were achieved by the combined techniques of XRD, FT-IR, TEM, DTA/TG, and optical spectroscopies. The results showed that Gd(3+) substitution leads to linearly expanded ab plane, shortened interlayer distance (c/2), and reduced hydration (smaller n value) of the crystal structure. As a consequence, the Ln(3+) partially shifts from the C(4v) to C(1) site symmetries and thus leads to systematically altered photoluminescence behaviors. Under the (7)F(0)→(5)L(6) transition excitation of Eu(3+) at 394 nm, both the (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) to (5)D(0)→(7)F(4) and the 595 nm (5)D(0)→(7)F(1) to 590 nm (5)D(0)→(7)F(1) intensity ratios linearly increase towards a higher Gd(3+) content. The incorporated Gd(3+) cations selectively sensitize emission from the C(1)-site Eu(3+) and produce a new charge transfer (CT) excitation band at ~254 nm. With this, the desired 615-nm red emission is obtainable either under intra-4f(6) transition excitation of Eu(3+) or by exciting the CT band. The materials have similar fluorescence lifetimes of 0.85 ± 0.05 ms for the 615-nm emission, irrespective of the Gd(3+) content and excitation wavelength.  相似文献

Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+) (Ln = Eu, Tb) submicrospheres were successfully prepared through a facile and mild solvothermal method followed by a subsequent heat treatment. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results demonstrate that all the diffraction peaks of the samples can be well indexed to the pure hexagonal phase of Gd(2)O(2)S. The energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), element analysis, and FT-IR results show that the precursors are composed of the Gd, Eu, O, S, C, H, and N elements. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results show that these spheres are actually composed of randomly aggregated nanoparticles. The formation mechanism for the Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+)(Ln = Eu, Tb) spheres has been proposed on an isotropic growth mechanism. Under ultraviolet excitation, Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+)(Ln = Eu, Tb) spheres show red and green emission corresponding to the (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of the Eu(3+) ions and the (5)D(4)→(7)F(5) transition of the Tb(3+) ions. Furthermore, this synthetic route may have potential applications for fabricating other lanthanide oxysulfides.  相似文献

One-dimensional pure cubic Y(2)O(3)/Eu(3+) nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized by a hydrothermal method at various temperatures. The NCs prepared at 130 degrees C yielded nanotubes (NTs) with wall thickness of 5-10 nm and outer diameter of 20-40 nm. The NCs prepared at 170 and 180 degrees C yielded nanowires (NWs) with diameters of approximately 100 and approximately 300 nm, respectively. Their luminescent properties, including electronic transition processes, local environments surrounding Eu(3+) ions, electron-phonon coupling, and UV light irradiation induced spectral changes have been systematically studied and compared. The results indicate that the Y(2)O(3)/Eu(3+) NTs and NWs have strong red (5)D(0)-(7)F(2) transitions. The fluorescence lifetime of (5)D(1)-(7)F(1) hardly changes in different samples, while that of (5)D(0)-(7)F(2) decreases a small amount in Y(2)O(3)/Eu(3+) NTs. The (5)D(0)-(7)F(2) lines originate from the emissions of Eu(3+) ions occupying one C(2) site, like that in the bulk powders. The phonon sideline with a frequency shift of 40-50 cm(-1) appears at the low-energy side of the (7)F(0)-(5)D(0) zero phonon line. The relative intensity of the sideline to zero phonon line increases by varying from NTs to NWs, and the spectral position of the phonon sideline shifts red. The UV light irradiation induced spectral change in the charge-transfer band was studied. The results indicate that the spectral change is dependent on sample size and is wavelength selective. A detailed model was proposed to explain the light-induced spectral change.  相似文献

A new family of mixed-lanthanide cyano-bridged coordination polymers Ln(0.5)Ln'(0.5)(H(2)O)(5)[W(CN)(8)] (where Ln/Ln' = Eu(3+)/Tb(3+), Eu(3+)/Gd(3+), and Tb(3+)/Sm(3+)) containing two lanthanide and one transition metal ions were obtained and characterized by X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence spectroscopy, magnetic analyses, and theoretical computation. These compounds are isotypical and crystallize in the tetragonal system P4/nmm forming two-dimensional grid-like networks. They present a magnetic ordering at low temperature and display the red Eu(3+) ((5)D(0) → (7)F(0-4)) and green Tb(3+) ((5)D(4) → (7)F(6-2)) characteristic photoluminescence. The Tb(0.5)Eu(0.5)(H(2)O)(5)[W(CN)(8)] compound presents therefore green and red emission and shows Tb(3+)-to-Eu(3+) energy transfer.  相似文献

Rhombohedral-calcite and hexagonal-vaterite types of LuBO(3):Eu(3+) microparticles with various complex self-assembled 3D architectures have been prepared selectively by an efficient surfactant- and template-free hydrothermal process for the first time. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, photoluminescence, and cathodoluminescence spectra as well as kinetic decays were used to characterize the samples. The pH, temperature, concentration, solvent, and reaction time have a crucial influence on the phase formation, shape evolution, and microstructure. The reaction mechanism is considered as a dissolution/precipitation process; it is proposed that the self-assembly evolution occurs by homocentric layer-by-layer growth. Under UV excitation and low-voltage electron beam excitation, calcite-type LuBO(3):Eu(3+) particles show a strong orange emission corresponding to the (5)D(0)-->(7)F(1) transition of Eu(3+) whereas vaterite-type LuBO(3):Eu(3+) particles exhibit a strong red emission with much higher R/O values (that is, chromatically redder fluorescence than that of crystals grown from a direct solid-state reaction). The tunable luminescent properties have potential applications in fluorescent lamps and field emission displays.  相似文献

A red-emitting phosphor, Eu(3+)-doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7), was synthesized by the conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed the pure crystalline phase of Whitlockite-type structure. The excitation spectra of Eu(3+) doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) were measured in the VUV and UV region indicating an efficient energy transfer process from the host and Gd(3+) to Eu(3+) ions. Upon excitation with VUV and UV radiation, the phosphor showed strong red emission around 611 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) ions. The VUV- and UV-excited luminescence spectra of Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7):Eu(3+) together with the dependence of the integrated emission intensities on the doping levels were investigated. The Eu(3+) ions were investigated by a tunable laser as an excitation source. The excitation spectra of (7)F(0)→(5)D(0) transitions suggest that there are two families of inequivalent sites for Eu(3+) in this host. The concentration quenching and crystallographic site-occupancy of Eu(3+) ions in Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) host were discussed on the basis of the site selective excitation and emission spectra, the luminescence decay and its crystal structure.  相似文献

One-dimensional La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) microfibers were fabricated by a simple and cost-effective electrospinning method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), photoluminescence (PL) and low voltage cathodoluminescence (CL) as well as kinetic decay were used to characterize the resulting samples. SEM and TEM results indicated that the diameter of the microfibers annealed at 1000 °C for 3 h was 200-245 nm. The microfibers were further composed of fine and closely linked nanoparticles. La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) phosphors showed the characteristic emission of Ce(3+) (5d → 4f), Eu(3+) ((5)D(0)→(7)F(J)) and Tb(3+) ((5)D(3,4)→(7)F(J)) under ultraviolet excitation and low-voltage electron beams (3-5 kV) excitation. An energy transfer from Ce(3+) to Tb(3+) was observed in the La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ce(3+), Tb(3+) phosphor under ultraviolet excitation and low-voltage electron beam excitation. Luminescence mechanisms were proposed to explain the observed phenomena. Blue, red and green emission can be realized in La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) microfibers by changing the doping ions. So the La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) phosphors have potential applications in full-color field emission displays.  相似文献

Hafnium dioxide (HfO 2) presents a high crystalline density which makes it attractive for host lattice activated by rare earths for applications as scintillating materials. HfO 2 powders doped with Eu (3+) or Ce (3+) luminescent ions are prepared by sol gel process. The annealing temperature and the concentration of doping ions are optimized to provide the powder presenting the best scintillation yield. The powders are crystallized in monoclinic phase whatever annealing temperature above 800 degrees C. The emission spectra are characterized by a white broadband between 400 and 600 nm. After optimization, the most efficient composition, namely HfO 2:2.5% Eu 1% Y (molar percent) exhibits a scintillation yield about 31,000 photons/MeV, which is about 3.8 times that of the standard Bi 3Ge 5O 12 (BGO) commercial powder.  相似文献

Four new rare earth gallosilicates, Rb 2REGaSi4O12 (RE = Y, Eu, Gd, and Tb, denoted as REGS-1), have been synthesized under high-temperature, high-pressure hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. They are the first examples of rare earth gallosilicates that contain individually occupied tetrahedral Ga(3+) and Si(4+) centers. The unique structure is formed of two 1D and one 2D substructural units: unbranched achter single chains which are seldom observed in silicates, the PaCl 5-type infinite chains formed of edge-sharing REO7 petagonal bipyramids and the unprecedented mixed-anion double layers with the composition [GaSi4O12]. The photoluminescence properties of EuGS-1 and TbGS-1 have been studied. The Y(3+) ion in YGS-1 can be partially replaced by Eu(3+) and Tb(3+) to yield luminescent materials.  相似文献

The structure of nanocrystalline Y2O3:Eu prepared by a combustion reaction was analyzed by XRD and high-resolution electron microscopy. Compared with a large-scale particles, 5-nm Y2O3:Eu particles presented as distorted crystallite and rough surfaces. Luminescent and absorption properties of nano-Y2O3:Eu showed remarkably particle size effects. At Y2O3:Eu particle sizes smaller than 10 nm some new results were observed: (a) a red shift of the charge-transfer-state absorption; (b) new emission bands of Eu3+ in the 5D0 --> 7F2 region; (c) luminescent decay of energy level 5D0 of Eu3+ turning to a two-step exponential; and (d) a pronounced increase in quenching concentration and much lower phonon density compared with those of the bulk material. All these phenomena can be attributed to the effect of the softened lattice and surface state of the nanomaterial. The latter was confirmed by stronger excitation by the host absorption after the surface modification.  相似文献

The sol-emulsion-gel method is used for the preparation of about 5-7 nm size Eu2O3 doped and coated Y2SiO5 nanoparticles at 1300 degrees C. Here, we report the role of surface coating, dopant concentration and temperature of heating on the modification of crystal structure and the photoluminescence properties of Y2SiO5:Eu3+ nanocrystals. It is found that photoluminescence properties are sensitive to the crystal structure which is again controlled by surface coating, concentration and heating temperature. The decay times are 0.76, 1.14, 1.23 and 1.40 ms for 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.5 mol% Eu2O3 doped Y2SiO5 nanocrystals prepared at 1100 degrees C (X1-Y2SiO5). However, in X2-Y2SiO5 crystal phase (at 1300 degrees C) the average decay times are 1.05, 1.35, 1.55 and 1.60 ms for 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.5 mol% Eu2O3 doped Y2SiO5 nanocrystals, indicating the photoluminescence properties depend on both the crystal structure and the concentration of ions. The emission intensity of the peak at 612 nm (5D0-->7F2) of the Eu3+-ions is found to be sensitive to the doping and surface coating of Y2SiO5 nanocrystals. The decay times are 1.55 and 1.70 ms for 1300 degrees C heated 1.0 mol% Eu2O3 doped and coated Y2SiO5 nanocrystals, respectively. Our analysis suggests that the site symmetry of ions plays a most important role in the modification of radiative relaxation mechanisms and as a result on the overall photoluminescence properties.

When Eu(3+) ions occupy Ca(2+) sites of CaMoO(4), which has a body centered tetragonal structure with inversion symmetry, only the magnetic dipole transition ((5)D(0)→(7)F(1)) should be allowed according to Judd-Ofelt theory. Even if there are a few distortions in the Eu(3+) environment, its intensity should be more than that of the electric dipole transition ((5)D(0)→(7)F(2)). We report here the opposite effect experimentally and ascribe this to the polarizability effect of the MoO(4) tetrahedron, which is neighboring to EuO(8) (symmetric environment). The contribution of the energy transfer process from the Mo-O charge transfer band to Eu(3+) and the role of Eu(3+) over the surface of the particle could be distinguished when luminescence decay processes were measured at two different excitations (250 and 398 nm). Further, the luminescence intensities and lifetimes increase significantly with increasing heat-treatment temperature of the doped samples. This is attributed to the reduction of H(2)O from the surface of the particles and a non-radiative process after heat treatment.  相似文献

Europium-doped lanthanide oxide RE(2)O(3):Eu(3+) (RE = Y or Gd) luminescent beads, with a spherical shape and a diameter of 150 ± 15 nm, have been modified by reaction with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), in order to introduce reactive amine groups at their surfaces. The direct silanation has resulted in the formation of a nanometric layer at the surface of the beads, with an optimum grafting rate of 0.055 ± 0.005 mol APTES/mol RE(2)O(3). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies confirmed the condensation of an organosilane layer, made of cross-linked -O-Si-O-Si- and of groups -O-Si-R (with R = (CH(2))(3)NH(2) or O-Et). Titration of the accessible amine groups has been performed by simultaneously measuring the luminescence of grafted fluorescein isothiocyanate and that of core particles: there are about 2.3 × 10(4) (2.8 × 10(4)) -NH(2) per Y(2)O(3):Eu(3+) (Gd(2)O(3):Eu(3+)) bead. The isoelectronic point was shifted by one pH unit after APTES modification. The surface modification by APTES at least preserved (for Gd(2)O(3):Eu(3+)) or improved (for Y(2)O(3):Eu(3+)) the red emission of the beads.  相似文献

Yttrium tungstate precursors with novel 3D hierarchical architectures assembled from nanosheet building blocks were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method with the assistance of sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate (SDBS). After calcination, the precursors were easily converted to Y(2)(WO(4))(3) without an obvious change in morphology. The as-prepared precursors and Y(2)(WO(4))(3) were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, respectively. The results reveal that the morphology and dimensions of the as-prepared precursors can be effectively tuned by altering the amounts of organic SDBS and the reaction time, and the possible formation mechanism was also proposed. Upon ultraviolet (UV) excitation, the emission of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):x mol% Eu(3+) microcrystals can be tuned from white to red, and the doping concentration of Eu(3+) has been optimized. Furthermore, the up-conversion (UC) luminescence properties as well as the emission mechanisms of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):Yb(3+)/Ln(3+) (Ln = Er, Tm, Ho) microcrystals were systematically investigated, which show green (Er(3+), (4)S(3/2), (2)H(11/2)→(4)I(15/2)), blue (Tm(3+), (1)G(4)→(3)H(6)) and yellow (Ho(3+), (5)S(2)→(5)I(8)) luminescence under 980 nm NIR excitation. Moreover, the doping concentration of the Yb(3+) has been optimized under a fixed concentration of Er(3+) for the UC emission of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):Yb(3+)/Er(3+).  相似文献

Size- (submicrometer-sized) and morphology- (spherical) controlled composite Gd-Eu oxalate particles were prepared in an emulsion liquid membrane (water-in-oil-in-water emulsion) system. The oxalate particles thus prepared were calcined in air to obtain Gd(2)O(3) : Eu(3+) phosphor particles and in sulfur atmosphere to obtain Gd(2)O(2)S : Eu(3+) phosphor particles. These submicrometer-sized spherical phosphor particles showed photoluminescence properties with emission peak at 614 nm for Gd(2)O(3) : Eu(3+) and 628 nm for Gd(2)O(2)S : Eu(3+).  相似文献

Syntheses, lanthanide quantitative analyses, mass spectrometry and luminescence spectroscopy, and decay dynamics of crystals containing pentanuclear hetero-lanthanide(III) nanoclusters [(Ln'(5-x)Ln(x))(NO(3))(6)(mu(5)-OH)(mu(4)-L)(2)] (0 < or = x < or = 5), Ln' = Eu or Tb; Ln = La-Nd, Sm-Ho (hereafter Ln'(5-x) Ln(x)) were undertaken in search of information on factors governing self-assembly processes by which the clusters are formed and electronic interactions within and between them. The data obtained are consistent with the self-assembly of Ln'(5-x) Ln(x) nanoclusters being a concerted process featuring a profound expression of complementarity among mutually bridging [Ln(mu(4)-L](-) and [Ln(NO(3))(2)](+) components. The energy transport regime in crystals of Eu(5-x) Ln(x) is in the dynamic regime when x = 0 or Ln = La and, at 293 K, Ln = Dy, despite the presence of two crystallographically different Eu(3+) coordination environments which give rise to a doublet in the excitation and emission spectra of Eu(3+)((5)D(0)). The luminescence decay behavior of Eu(3+)((5)D(0)) in Eu(5-x) Ln(x) (Ln = Dy (for 77 K), Sm) is intermediate between the static and dynamic limits and reveals extensive electronic coupling among lanthanide ions, including many-body processes at relatively high Dy(3+) or Sm(3+) concentrations.  相似文献

Herein, a new aromatic carboxylate ligand, namely, 4-(dipyridin-2-yl)aminobenzoic acid (HL), has been designed and employed for the construction of a series of lanthanide complexes (Eu(3+) = 1, Tb(3+) = 2, and Gd(3+) = 3). Complexes of 1 and 2 were structurally authenticated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and were found to exist as infinite 1D coordination polymers with the general formulas {[Eu(L)(3)(H(2)O)(2)]}(n) (1) and {[Tb(L)(3)(H(2)O)].(H(2)O)}(n) (2). Both compounds crystallize in monoclinic space group C2/c. The photophysical properties demonstrated that the developed 4-(dipyridin-2-yl)aminobenzoate ligand is well suited for the sensitization of Tb(3+) emission (Φ(overall) = 64%) thanks to the favorable position of the triplet state ((3)ππ*) of the ligand [the energy difference between the triplet state of the ligand and the excited state of Tb(3+) (ΔE) = (3)ππ* - (5)D(4) = 3197 cm(-1)], as investigated in the Gd(3+) complex. On the other hand, the corresponding Eu(3+) complex shows weak luminescence efficiency (Φ(overall) = 7%) due to poor matching of the triplet state of the ligand with that of the emissive excited states of the metal ion (ΔE = (3)ππ* - (5)D(0) = 6447 cm(-1)). Furthermore, in the present work, a mixed lanthanide system featuring Eu(3+) and Tb(3+) ions with the general formula {[Eu(0.5)Tb(0.5)(L)(3)(H(2)O)(2)]}(n) (4) was also synthesized, and the luminescent properties were evaluated and compared with those of the analogous single-lanthanide-ion systems (1 and 2). The lifetime measurements for 4 strongly support the premise that efficient energy transfer occurs between Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) in a mixed lanthanide system (η = 86%).  相似文献
