This paper reports the results of the study of anisotropy in elastic wave propagation in single crystal superconducting BSCCO.
The inverse and group velocities of elastic waves propagating in different directions have been computed and the corresponding
slowness and ray velocity surfaces plotted, taking elastic constant data from literature. In addition, the phenomenon of phonon
focussing has been investigated in this material by computing the phonon enhancement factor along different directions in
spherical polar coordinates. The abnormally high values in phonon enhancement factor exhibited in certain directions for the
phonon modes are interpreted as due to caustics occurring in the geometrical acoustics approximation adopted in the computational
analysis. The results in LSCO and YBCO are found to be similar to those in BSCCO. 相似文献

We have recently achieved superconductivity in T′-RE2CuO4 (RE: Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd), using epitaxial thin films by metal organic decomposition. The key recipes to achieve superconductivity are low-PO2 firing and subsequent vacuum reduction to minimize the amount of impurity oxygen atoms, which are very harmful to high-Tc superconductivity. In this article, we report our investigation on the reduction dependence of superconductivity of T′-RE2CuO4. For thin films, the amount of remnant Oap atoms is difficult to evaluate but we propose that one good measure for this may be the c-axis lattice constant, which tells us whether the reduction is insufficient or excessive. 相似文献

The oxide system Bi2.2Ca2.8−x
Sr
x
Cu2O
y
has been investigated for superconductivity as a function of Ca/Sr ratio withx=0.7, 1.0, 1.4 and 1.8. All these compositions are found to be superconducting with onset temperature in the range of 80–90
K implying a large homogeneity range between Sr and Ca for the superconductivity to occur in this system. Effect of partial
replacement of Bi by rare earths has been studied and it is observed that 20% replacement of Bi by Nd and Eu does not significantly
affect the superconducting transition temperature. 相似文献

We construct the algebra of the creation and destruction operators for spin 1/2 particles obeying a new exclusion principle
which is “more exclusive” than Pauli’s exclusion principle: an orbital state shall not contain more than one particle, whether
spin up or spin down. The consequences of this algebra are studied and applications to the Hubbard model in condensed matter
physics are indicated.

We have investigated theoretically the Nernst effect in unconventional (d-wave) charge and spin density waves (UDW). In the presence of magnetic field, Landau levels are formed, and the gapless behaviour of the low energy excitations change into gapped behaviour. When additional electric field is applied, the quasiparticles drift with a velocity of E × B/B2, and carry entropy. From this, the Nernst coefficient can be calculated using the Kelvin relation. The present results account very nicely for the measured Nernst signal in the pseudogap phase of high Tc superconductor La2−xSrxCuO4 and Bi2Sr2−yLayCuO6. This indicates that the large Nernst effect is a clear signiture of UDW. 相似文献

n) and imaginary (χ″
n) parts of even harmonic susceptibility (n⩽6) are measured as a function of external DC field (H
dc) in the field increasing (H↑) and decreasing (H↑) cycle. Hysteresis is observed betweenH↑ andH↓ cycles. In theH↓ cycle, at a field,H
comp=4·2G, bothχ′ andχ″ of all the even harmonics vanish indicating a true cancellation of fields in the intergrain region (H
eff≈0) caused by the balance betweenH
dc and the remanent magnetization of the grains. The position of the extrema and the zero of the various harmonics undergo a

The present paper attempts to study the Neel temperature of bilayer antiferromagnetic cuprate YBa2Cu3O6.2 within anisotropic Heisenberg model. The double time Green’s function formalism within random phase approximation (RPA) has
been used to obtain various correlation functions. The magnetization and the Neel temperature (T
N) are evaluated. It is observed that the ratio of intrabilayer to inplane exchange coupling (r=J⊥/J‖) plays an important role in the magnetic dynamics of bilayer systems. The recent experimental data of bilayer system YBa2Cu3O6.2 have been used to estimate the ratio r from the expression for Neel temperature. The estimated values of spin gap and the ratio of hopping matrix elements t⊥/t‖ are found to be in fairly good agreement with the existing experimental results. 相似文献

are found to show this characteristic whereas dense samples with higherI

do not show SQUID behaviour.V-B modulation characteristic is found to be better when the rf pumping frequency is kept slightly higher than the resonance
frequency of the tank circuit. Designing of coil for tank circuit with appropriateQ has been found to be very crucial for seeing the SQUID behaviour. Estimation of parameters such as coupling constant, mutual
inductance, inductance and radius of the SQUID loop, have been made and their significance is discussed. Flux noise spectrum

By developing a diagonalization scheme we observe that the dynamics of interacting electrons or holes locally coupled to dispersionless phonon mode in one-dimensional lattice can be mapped into that of paired electron or hole states (bipolaronic states), which then gives a physically appealing picture of excitation modes of the interacting electron or hole gas. As a result, the bipolaronic model of the interacting electron or hole gas, obtained from Holstein–Hubbard Hamiltonian in one-dimensional lattice, exhibits normalization of the hopping terms and leads to a reduced effective mass of the bipolaron, which essentially gives support to the bipolaronic theory of high Tc superconductivity. 相似文献

Since 1997 we systematically perform direct angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) on in-situ grown thin (<30 nm) cuprate films. Specifically, we probe low-energy electronic structure and properties of high-T
c superconductors (HTSC) under different degrees of epitaxial (compressive vs. tensile) strain. In overdoped and underdoped
in-plane compressed (the strain is induced by the choice of substrate) ≈15 nm thin La2 − x
Sr
x
CuO4 (LSCO) films we almost double T
c to 40 K, from 20 K and 24 K, respectively. Yet the Fermi surface (FS) remains essentially two-dimensional. In contrast, ARPES
data under tensile strain exhibit the dispersion that is three-dimensional, yet T
c drastically decreases. It seems that the in-plane compressive strain tends to push the apical oxygen far away from the CuO2 plane, enhances the two-dimensional character of the dispersion and increases T
c, while the tensile strain acts in the opposite direction and the resulting dispersion is three-dimensional. We have established
the shape of the FS for both cases, and all our data are consistent with other ongoing studies, like EXAFS. As the actual
lattice of cuprates is like a ‘Napoleon-cake’, i.e. rigid CuO2 planes alternating with softer ‘reservoir’, that distort differently under strain, our data rule out all oversimplified two-dimensional
(rigid lattice) mean field models. The work is still in progress on optimized La-doped Bi-2201 films with enhanced T
c.

The effects of gadolinium doping at calcium site on the normal and superconducting properties of Bi-2223 system were studied.
The Gd-doped (BiPb)-2223 series of specimens, namely Batch I, II and III were sintered at three different sintering temperatures
830, 850 and 895°C respectively. The properties investigated are (1) the normal state resistivity with a view to study metal-to-insulator
transition, (2) the XRD patterns of the specimens with a view to study the relative composition of (BiPb)-2212 and (BiPb)-2223
phases and (3) the superconducting fluctuation behaviour (SFB) with a view to determine the effect of doping, if any, on the
dimensionality of the fluctuation conductivity of the system. The normal state resistivity of Gd-substituted Bi-2223 specimens
shows metallic, semiconducting and insulating behaviour. The T
c
(R = 0) values indicate that (BiPb)-2223 phase is responsible for the observed superconducting transitions in Batch I and Batch
II specimens with Gd concentrations x ≤ 0.7. This observation is further confirmed in the analysis of XRD patterns of these specimens. Gadolinium, being a magnetic
impurity, has pair breaking effect near the Fermi level and decreases T
c
(R = 0). The analysis of the superconducting fluctuation behaviour (SFB) shows a 2D dimensionality without any cross-over.

Anisotropic superconducting materials often show an enhanced pinning along their crystallographic ab-planes. To obtain information about such a behavior of the high-Tc system Hg-1201 (HgBa2CuO4) magnetic investigations on a single crystal are performed for the two field orientations, parallel to the c-axis and parallel to the ab-planes. The dependence of the ac magnetization on temperature, magnetic field and frequency is determined. Compared to former results on powder samples of this system no indication of a second peak in the imaginary part of the susceptibility χ′′ is found. It seems to be shifted to higher temperatures overlapping now with the first peak. The corresponding irreversibility lines for both orientations, parallel to c and parallel to ab, are determined and discussed within the framework of a “diffusion” model. 相似文献

DC SQUID structure consisting of two microbridges and a circular hole was patterned on BSCCO thick film using laser ablation
technique. Quantum interference effects on these patterned films were studied at fixed biasing current by applying changing
magnetic field. The SQUID with 100 μm × 70 μm microbridges showed noisy and irregular V-B behaviour whereas the SQUID containing
smaller microbridges showed better V-B characteristic. Temperature dependence of the I-V and V-B characteristics of the SQUID

For analyzing the checker-board like modulation of the local density of states (LDOS) around a vortex observed in the slightly overdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox, we examined the effect of pseudogap state of high-Tc superconductors to the LDOS around the vortex. We first derived the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation for d-wave superconductivity (d-SC) in the presence of d-spin density wave (d-SDW). Using the Fourier–Bessel expansion, we solved this equation for a single vortex state, numerically. We found that the peak of the bound states around E = 0 becomes small and modulation of the LDOS is observed for larger d-SDW order parameter. 相似文献

We investigated the generic phase diagram of the electron doped superconductor, Nd2−xCexCuO4, using films prepared by metal organic decomposition. After careful oxygen reduction treatment to remove interstitial Oap atoms, we found that the Tc increases monotonically from 24 K to 29 K with decreasing x from 0.15 to 0.00, demonstrating a quite different phase diagram from the previous bulk one. The implication of our results is discussed on the basis of tremendous influence of Oap “impurities” on superconductivity and also magnetism in T′ cuprates. Then we conclude that our result represents the generic phase diagram for oxygen-stoichiometric Nd2−xCexCuO4. 相似文献
