We start from the microscopic Hamiltonian formulated by means of creation and annihilation operators for the field modes, and creation and annihilation operators for the electrons. The virtual transitions via the intermediate atomic level are eliminated by second order perturbation theory so that an effective Hamiltonian results which describes two-photon creation or annihilation. In the next step Heisenberg equations of motion are derived for the field amplitudes, the atomic dipole moments, and the inversion. The effect of heatbaths is taken into account by means of damping terms and fluctuating forces. In the present paper these equations are averaged over the fluctuating forces and the resulting semiclassical equations are solved for the stationary state. We treat the degenerate and nondegenerate case including detuning and atomic levels with homogeneous and inhomogeneous broadening. The field modes may be either running or standing waves. A detailed discussion of the laser condition is given.  相似文献

The stability of the homogeneously broadened and degenerate two-photon running wave laser is analysed by using the full set of matter-field equations. The stability depends on the relative size of the relaxation constants. For 2k>1+r(k=/,r=/; is the cavity loss of the field and , are the longitudinal and transversal decay constants, respectively) no stable lasing state exists. Forr<k<(1+r)/2 an instability occurs. With the decrease in pumping the stable lasing state loses its stability due to Hopf-bifurcation.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the stripe (or roll) patterns in a broad-aperture degenerate optical parametric oscillator in a plane-mirror minicavity. The stabilization of stripes is achieved by seed injection at a subharmonic frequency. We measure the temporal spectra of the stripe pattern and obtain the 1/f-like noise spectra.  相似文献

The theory of the coherent, two-photon resonant interaction of a monochromatic field with N atoms is given. It is seen that the dynamics of the atom-field system can be completely determined when the field is “strong”. Two specific examples are given: (i) two-photon absorption by atoms in ground state, and (ii) stimulated two-photon emission by fully excited atoms, assuming a coherent field in both cases. In case (ii), the field shows photon-antibunching after the decay of half of the atoms. The merits of our approach are shown by comparing with other treatments. Our results can also be applied to certain degenerate four-wave mixing processes which are described by a similar Hamiltonian.  相似文献

针对简并光学参量振荡器的非线性动力学特点,应用互耦合参量调制法研究了两台简并光学参量振荡器之间的超混沌控制与周期态同步.理论研究结果表明,对于全同或不完全相同的简并光学参量振荡器均可实现从超混沌输出到周期输出的转化,当满足最大条件Lyapunov指数小于零时,两台全同简并光学参量振荡器之间可以实现两种方式的周期态精确同步,即同向同步和反向同步,同步方式与初始条件和调制系数有关.  相似文献

基于非相干反馈随机激光器的扩散方程理论,将扩散方程中的增益项改写为饱和形式,并利用有限差分方法,研究了双光子抽运随机激光器中辐射光能量随时间演化特性.对扩散方程的数值求解给出了系统辐射光能量由自发辐射开始,经历小信号增益状态得到放大,再到由于增益饱和形成稳态输出的整个演化过程.表明介质的无序导致了在较低能量情况下也能获得饱和增益这样的非线性效应.结果为研究获得双光子抽运随机激光器的稳态输出提供了理论依据. 关键词: 随机激光器 双光子抽运 饱和效应 无序介质中的光学效应  相似文献

We introduce a novel concept for optical frequency measurement and division which employs a Kerr-lens, mode-locked laser as a transfer oscillator whose noise properties do not enter the measurement process. We experimentally demonstrate that this method opens up the route to phase-link signals with arbitrary frequencies in the optical or microwave range while their frequency stability is preserved. A Hamiltonian model that includes two-photon interaction with a two-level atom and a degenerate parametric amplifier is considered. By invoking a canonical transformation an exact solution of the wave function in the Schrödinger picture is obtained. The result presented in this context is employed to discuss the purity, the entropy squeezing, and the variance squeezing, in addition to the normal squeezing. It has been shown that the existence of the second harmonic generation leads to reduction in the squeezing amount for all quadrature variances and we found that as the value of the coupling parameter λ2 increases the squeezing phenomenon gets more apparent. Further we have also considered the Q-function as an example of the quasi-probability distribution.  相似文献

We theoretically compare the performance of TPEF and SHG microscopy for membrane potential imaging. We argue that electrochromic TPEF and SHG membrane potential responses are reflections of the same phenomenon, and can be described in a unified manner as resulting from the linear Stark effect. We also show that TPEF and SHG exhibit similar sensitivities in the case of both electrochromic and orientational response mechanisms. Despite their similar sensitivities, SHG nevertheless presents advantages over TPEF for membrane potential imaging because of its remarkable spatial and spectral contrast, and because of its insensitivity to non-radiative excited-state damping mechanisms.  相似文献

It is shown how to add dissipation to the resonant nonlinear oscillators studied by Ford and Lunsford in such a way that the system remains on the energy surface. In the dissipative system, the energy surface is stable in some directions and neutrally stable in other directions. The dissipative oscillators are special cases of the general type investigated by Sherman and McLaughlin. The connection between resonant conservative nonlinear oscillators and dissipative oscillators may make it easier to extend the theorem of Arnol'd to dissipative systems.  相似文献

We evaluate current vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and multiple-quantum-well (MQW) modulator technologies for low-fanout system applications. Si-CMOS transimpedance receiver circuits are used in the comparison. The aggregate bandwidth per unit area is calculated from the bandwidth and the total on-chip power dissipation. The results indicate that the electrical power dissipation in the receiver circuits dominates at low operating frequencies. At high operating frequencies the receiver gain drops significantly, thus more electrical power is dissipated in the transmitter to provide more optical power to the receiver to satisfy the voltage requirement at the receiver output. In VCSEL based systems, the optical power is generated entirely on-chip. Thus, only VCSELs with low threshold current and low series resistance would be able to provide the same aggregate bandwidth as the MQW modulator based systems.  相似文献

A comparison between the use of the fringe-side and the frequency-modulation methods to frequency stabilize diode-pumped Tm-Ho:YAG lasers against linear absorption lines of CO2 near 2.1 microm is reported. Frequency stability was evaluated by monitoring of the beat signal between two independently stabilized Tm-Ho:YAG systems. Frequency instability levels of approximately 20 and approximately 400 kHz for 1-s integration time were achieved by the frequency-modulation and fringe-side methods, respectively.  相似文献

The problem of the superexchange interaction between orbitally degenerate ions in magnetic insulators is considered using the tensor operator formalism. The exchange Hamiltonian is derived for ions described in different representations. 耦合效率的高低与耦合后光斑的好坏直接影响着光子晶体光纤棒的放大效果,因此需要对种子光的耦合效果进行研究,选择合适的激光器作为种子源。本文对光子晶体光纤棒在固体激光器与光纤激光器两种情况下的耦合效率进行了理论分析;模拟计算了两种激光器情况下耦合效率的变化规律以及对准误差对耦合效率的影响;选择合适的透镜或透镜组,使用两种激光器对光子晶体光纤棒进行了耦合实验;对比两种激光器的耦合效果可知:固体激光器的耦合效率最高只能达到62.4%,而光纤激光器的耦合效率可以达到80%以上;在光纤激光器耦合情况下,对不同功率注入时耦合效率,以及耦合后光斑进行了实验分析。得到的实验结果对后续光纤棒的放大实验具有指导作用。  相似文献

In a recent electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) study several new rhodium related centres in a Bridgman-grown crystal were reported. For two centres a detailed microscopic model was established. The primary Rh2+ centre was identified as a [RhCl6]4? complex with a single charge compensating Na+ vacancy in a next nearest neighbour position. A second centre was identified as a rhodium dimer. Two other Rh2+ centres, with apparent axial symmetry, remained unidentified. In the present study a detailed comparison between Rh2+ defects in Bridgman- and solution-grown NaCl crystals is presented. One of the previously unidentified Rh2+ centres is shown not to be axial but to have orthorhombic-I symmetry and is identified as a cis-[RhCl6]4? complex with two next nearest neighbour Na+ vacancies. For the primary centre additional ENDOR interactions confirm the model mentioned above. Finally a comparison is made between the temperature stability of the primary and orthorhombic-I centre in Bridgman-grown and similarly doped solution-grown NaCl crystals.  相似文献

Entanglement of two artificial two-level atoms with degenerate two-photon transitions is considered in the case in which the atoms interact with the thermal single-mode field in an ideal cavity. The possibility of controlling the atomic entanglement degree in such a system due to the induction of atomic coherence and direct dipole-dipole interaction of atoms is shown.  相似文献
