The clustering of events in 7-dimensional phase space is studied in the reactions π±ppπ+π±π? at 16GeV/c. The Yang variables are used for locating events in the phase space. Clusters are defined and events are allocated by a novel iterative technique. This is based on a measure of the distance of each event from the cluster center, weighted by the covariance matrix of the event density. The clusters found are then related to reaction mechanisms such as diffraction dissociation of pion and proton, resonance production, etc. High mass enhancements in the (3π) system and in the (pπ+π?) system are identified and separated from other mechanisms. Cross sections are given for individual sub-channels and compared to results obtained by other techniques.  相似文献

The reactions π+ p→π++π+π-π-)p andppp+π+π-π-)p, where the (π+ π+ π- π-) system is centrally produced have been studied at 85 GeV/c. The π+π+π-π- mass spectrum shows evidence for thef 1 (1285) meson with a mass of 1278±2 MeV and width 41±12 MeV which decays mainly through ρ0(770)π+π-. Thef 1(1285) is also observed in the ηπ+π- channel. There is no significant evidence for ηππ or 4π decay modes of thef 1(1420). The ρ0ρ0 production is found to be small. A Dalitz plot analysis of the 3π system shows evidence fora 2 (1320) production and for a large contribution of theJ PC=1++ ρπ wave.  相似文献

The results on measuring polarization in charge exchange reaction π?+p→π0+n at 40 GeV/c are presented for the 4-momentum transfer range from 0 up to 2 (GeV/c)2. At |t|≦0.4 (GeV/c)2 the polarization has a positive sign. In the “crossover” region of π± elastic scattering a possible minimum in the polarization behaviour has been seen for the first time. the polarization is zero within the statistical accuracy near this point. In the “deep” region of the charge-exchange differential cross-section the polarization has a negative sign. The presented data are not in agreement with the modern theoretical models.  相似文献

A study of a 150000-picture exposure of ¯pd at 5.5 GeV/c yielded 152 events satisfying the hypothesis ¯pdp s π+?π0. For the events with proton spectator in the momentum range 100–280 MeV/c we obtained the cross section of 0.11±0.02 mb. Assuming the validity of the impulse approximation we estimate a cross section of 0.43±0.06 mb for the reaction ¯pn→ π+?π0. The rate for single ? meson production and an upper limit for double ? production are given. A modified multiperipheral Regge model was used in order to describe the general features of the data.  相似文献

The reactionppp f +π?π0)p s , where the π+π?π0 system is centrally produced, has been studied at 300 GeV/c. The π+π?π0 mass spectrum shows evidence for the η, ω anda 2 (1320) as well as an enhancement in thea 1 (1260) region. A Dalitz plot analysis of the π+π?π0 system has been performed. Thea 1 (1260) parameters coming from the fit of the 1+ S wave arem=1208±15 MeV and Γ=430±50 MeV. No evidence is found for theh 1(1170) orh 1(1380).  相似文献

A high-statistics study of the π0π0-system produced in the π- p→π0π0 n reaction at 38GeV/c has been carried out at the IHEP accelerator using the GAMS-2000 multiphoton spectrometer. A partial-wave analysis which includesS, D 0, D? andD + waves has been performed in the |t|-range up to 1 (GeV/c)2. TheS */f 0(980) resonance is seen as a dip in theS-wave amplitude at small |t|. A distinct peak with a mass of 997±5MeV and a width of 48±10MeV is observed in theS-wave at |t|>0.3 (GeV/c)2. The production cross sections are measured.  相似文献

A sample of 357 events fitting the reaction ν + p → μ? + p + π+ on free proton is obtained from the Gargamelle neutrino propane experiment at the CERN-PS. The average value of the cross section above 1 GeV is found to be (0.60 ± 0.07) 10?38 cm2. The reaction is dominated by the production of the Δ++(1232) resonance. Results on the Δ++ spin density matrix are given.  相似文献

No enhancement in δ? → π +π?π? decay mode appeared at mass 962 MeV or at 996 MeV produced in π?p → δ?p interaction near its production threshold in a missing mass counter experiment. This finding fully supports the fact that the δ? → π +π?π? decay mode is not allowed by the conservations of the angular momentum and the parity.  相似文献

The inclusive inelastic processesK + ppX + andK + pΔ ++ X 0 are studied at an incident momentum of 70 GeV/c. The data comes from the Big European Bubble Chamber BEBC filled with hydrogen, exposed to an rf reparatedK + beam at the CERN SPS accelerator. The inclusive cross section for protons with laboratory momentump LAB≦1.2 GeV/c is equal to (6.1±0.1) mb. InclusiveΔ ++-production is studied for |t p, Δ|<1.0(GeV/c)2. Comparisons are made with otherK + p data and withpp data at 69 GeV/c. Evidence is found for Pomeron exchange at the beam vertex both for slow proton andΔ ++-production as well as for absorptive pion exchange at the (p,Δ ++) vertex.  相似文献

Final data on topological cross sections are presented. Inclusive single particle distributions for the reactionsK + p→ π± X at 32 GeV/c are discussed and compared with data at lower energies. Early scaling in the fragmentation regions is confirmed, while cross sections in th central region continue to rise with energy even faster than inpp interactions. Thex-andp T -dependence of the π+? ratio inK + p interactions is discussed and a comparison of reactionsK + p→ π± X andK ? p→ π± X at 32 GeV/c is made in the context of constituent models. We also present transverse momentum distributions, show prominent seagull effects and study how they are influenced by resonance production.  相似文献

We have performed a search for vector-vector final states centrally produced in proton proton interactions at 300 GeV/c using the CERN Ω spectrometer. Evidence is found for ωρ0 production in the reactionppp f (2π+?0)p s and for ωω production in the reactionppp f (2π+?0)p s . The cross section for the 12C(γ, π+ p) reaction was measured in the range of the Δ(1232) isobar. The data were analyzed using the models taking into account the nucleon and isobaric degrees of freedom of the 12C nucleus. The conclusion is drawn that in the large-momentum transfer range the π+ p pairs are produced in the course of the direct knocking-out of Δ++ isobar from the nucleus. The probability of finding the Δ isobar in the ground-state 12C nucleus is estimated at 0.018±0.005 Δ isobars per nucleon.  相似文献

The reaction π+ p→π+π+ n was studied in the vicinity of the reaction threshold at ten incident pion beam momenta from 297 MeV/c to 480 MeV/c. From data angular distributions, invariant mass spectra and integrated cross-sections were deduced. The chiral symmetry breaking parameter as determined by this reaction equals to ξ=1.56±0.26±0.39, where the first error is experimental, while the latter reflects the uncertainty in the ansatz used in the extrapolation to the reaction threshold. A comparison with the other reaction channels of the reaction πp→ππN indicates that a single parameter (ξ) is not sufficient to describe low energy ππ interactions.  相似文献

The reaction e + e ?→ωπ0 near a Φ resonance was studied with a spherical neutral detector at VEPP-2M e + e ? collider. Both main modes of decay of a ω meson were investigated: ω→π+π?π0 and ω→π 0γ. The probability of decay Φ→ωπ0 was obtained from the magnitude of the interference wave in the cross section for the reaction e + e ?→ωπ0→ π+π?π0π0: B(Φ→ωπ0) = (5.5 ?1.4 +1.6 ±0.3) ×10?5. The ratio of the partial widths of the ω meson was obtained from the ratio of the cross sections for the two modes: Γ(ω→π0γ )/Γ(ω→π+π?π0) = 0.0994 ± 0.0036 ± 0.0038.  相似文献

The reaction γp →ωp(ω → π+π?π0 and π0 → γ γ) has been studied in ep interactions using the ZEUS detector at photon-proton centre-of-mass energies between 70 and 90GeV and ∣t∣ < 0.6GeV2, where t is the squared four momentum transferred at the proton vertex. The elastic ω photoproduction cross section has been measured to be σγp → ωp = 1.21 ±0.12 ±0.23 μb. The differential cross section dσγp→ωp/d¦t¦ has an exponential shape e?b∣t∣ with a slope b =10.0 ± 1.2 ± 1.3 GeV?2. The angular distributions of the decay pions are consistent with s-channel helicity conservation. When compared to low energy data, the features of ω photoproduction as measured at HERA energies are in agreement with those of a soft diffractive process. Previous measurements of the ρ0 and ? photoproduction cross sections at HERA show a similar behaviour.  相似文献

The use of the (p, π?) reaction as a probe to determine Δ++(1232) components of nuclear wave functions is examined within the framework of a model which treats baryon resonances on the same footing as nucleons. Nuclear structure properties which affect the Δ -probability are discussed. Estimates of cross sections, at several energies, are made for the Δ++ transfer contribution as well as for the competing processes: proton charge exchange (p, n) followed by an (n, π?) reaction; emission of a π0 followed by pion charge exchange (π?, π0) . Even with Δ-probabilities as small as 0.0001 the Δ-transfer process can compete with ordinary background charge-exchange reactions.  相似文献

Kinetic parameters of the unusual [2π + 2σ + 2σ]‐cycloaddition reactions of quadricyclane ( 1 ) with tetracyanoethylene ( 2 ), 4‐phenyl‐1,2,4‐triazoline‐3,5‐dione ( 3 ), N‐phenylmaleimide ( 4 ), and diethyl azodicarboxylate ( 5 ) are determined experimentally. Additionally, the enthalpies of 1  +  2 reaction in 1,4‐dioxane solution (?236.6 ± 1.0 kJ mol?1) and 1  +  3 reaction in toluene (?255.0 ± 2.8 kJ mol?1) are determined calorimetrically and shown to be the largest in absolute magnitude among all known cycloaddition reactions involving these dienophiles. Solvent effect on the rate of 1 + 3 reaction in 11 solvents is studied and found to be moderate and similar to that of the conventional Diels‐Alder and ene reactions. The difference in the reaction rate constants of 1 with different dienophiles can be up to 9 orders of magnitude and is mainly caused by the difference in activation enthalpies. This difference is not correlated with the standard enthalpies of reactions and is likely the result of high sensitivity of the [2π + 2σ + 2σ] reaction rates to the energy of donor‐acceptor interactions between the reactants.  相似文献

The reaction π? p→η′η′n has been studied atp π=37 GeV/c. Total of 14 events of this reaction have been selected. It has been shown that in the effective mass spectrum of the η′η′ system the events are concentrated mainly near the reaction threshold, which might be caused by the decayX(1910)→η′η′. The reaction cross-section has been evaluated: σ(π? p→η′η′n)=110±40 nb.  相似文献

In a 48 000-picture exposure of the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber to a 205 GeV/cπ?beam, we have measured 169 events of the reaction, π?pπ?π+π?p, with a cross section of 635 ± 61 μb. This reaction proceeds almost entirely via low mass π? → 3π and p → pππ dissociation. Factorization is satisfied for p → pππ dissociation in πp and pp interactions.  相似文献
