We establish the formulas of the left‐ and right‐hand Gâteaux derivatives in the Lorentz spaces Γp,w = {f: ∫0α (f **)p w < ∞}, where 1 ≤ p < ∞, w is a nonnegative locally integrable weight function and f ** is a maximal function of the decreasing rearrangement f * of a measurable function f on (0, α), 0 < α ≤ ∞. We also find a general form of any supporting functional for each function from Γp,w , and the necessary and sufficient conditions for which a spherical element of Γp,w is a smooth point of the unit ball in Γp,w . We show that strict convexity of the Lorentz spaces Γp,w is equivalent to 1 < p < ∞ and to the condition ∫0 w = ∞. Finally we apply the obtained characterizations to studies the best approximation elements for each function f ∈ Γp,w from any convex set K ? Γp,w (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. A subset S of some vector space X is said to be outer Γ-convex w.r.t. some given balanced subset Γ ? X if for all x 0, x 1 ? S there exists a closed subset Λ ? [0,1] such that {x λ | λ ? Λ} ? S and [x 0, x 1] ? {x λ | λ ? Λ} + 0.5 Γ, where x λ: = (1 ? λ)x 0 + λ x 1. A real-valued function f:D → ? defined on some convex D ? X is called outer Γ-convex if for all x 0, x 1 ? D there exists a closed subset Λ ? [0,1] such that [x 0, x 1] ? {x λ | λ ? Λ} + 0.5 Γ and f(x λ) ≤ (1 ? λ)f(x 0) + λ f(x 1) holds for all λ ? Λ. Outer Γ-convex functions possess some similar optimization properties as these of convex functions, e.g., lower level sets of outer Γ-convex functions are outer Γ-convex and Γ-local minimizers are global minimizers. Some properties of outer Γ-convex sets and functions are presented, among others a simplex property of outer Γ-convex sets, which is applied for establishing a separation theorem and for proving the existence of modified subgradients of outer Γ-convex functions.  相似文献

Let D be a bounded domain in C n (n>1) with a connected smooth boundary D and let f be a continuous function on D. We consider conditions (generalizing those of the Hartogs–Bochner theorem) for holomorphic extendability of f to D. As a corollary we derive some boundary analog of Morera's theorem claiming that if the integrals of f vanish over the intersection of the boundary of the domain with complex curves in some class then f extends holomorphically to the domain.  相似文献

Let D be a convex domain with smooth boundary in complex space and let f be a continuous function on the boundary of D. Suppose that f holomorphically extends to the extremal discs tangent to a convex subdomain of D. We prove that f holomorphically extends to D. The result partially answers a conjecture by Globevnik and Stout of 1991.  相似文献

Let Ω be a bounded open and oriented connected subset of ? n which has a compact topological boundary Γ, let C be the Dirac operator in ? n , and let ?0,n be the Clifford algebra constructed over the quadratic space ? n . An ?0,n -valued smooth function f : Ω → ?0,n in Ω is called monogenic in Ω if Df = 0 in Ω. The aim of this paper is to present the most general condition on Γ obtained so far for which a Hölder continuous function f can be decomposed as F + ? F ? = f on Γ, where the components F ± are extendable to monogenic functions in Ω± with Ω+ := Ω, and Ω? := ? n \ (Ω ? Γ), respectively.  相似文献

We consider the graph Γ(G), associated with the conjugacy classes of a group G. Its vertices are the nontrivial conjugacy classes of G, and we join two different classes C, D, whenever there exist x ∈ G and y ∈ D such that xy = yx. The aim of this article is twofold. First, we investigate which graphs can occur in various contexts and second, given a graph Γ(G) associated with G, we investigate the possible structure of G. We proved that if G is a periodic solvable group, then Γ(G) has at most two components, each of diameter at most 9. If G is any locally finite group, then Γ(G) has at most 6 components, each of diameter at most 19. Finally, we investigated periodic groups G with Γ(G) satisfying one of the following properties: (i) no edges exist between noncentral conjugacy classes, and (ii) no edges exist between infinite conjugacy classes. In particular, we showed that the only nonabelian groups satisfying (i) are the three finite groups of order 6 and 8.  相似文献

Let Dj,j = 1,2, be two bounded domains (obstacles) in ?n, n ≥ 2, with the boundaries Γj. Let Aj be the scattering amplitude corresponding to Dj. The Dirichlet boundary condition is assumed on Γj. A formula is derived for A:= A1 ? A2. This formula is used for a derivation of the estimate of ∣A1 ? A2∣ in terms of the distance d1, Γ2) between Γ1 and Γ2. If d(Gamma;1, Gamma;2) ? ?, then ∣A∣ ? c?, where c is a positive constant which depends on Γ1 and Γ2 provided that one of the boundaries is of C1,λ class, 0 < λ < 1, and the other one is a polyhedron which approximates the first one. The results are useful, in particular, for boundary elements method of solving scattering problems.  相似文献

Suppose L is a second-order elliptic differential operator in ℝd and D is a bounded, smooth domain in ℝd. Let 1 < α ≤ 2 and let Γ be a closed subset of ∂D. It is known [13] that the following three properties are equivalent: (α) Γ is ∂-polar; that is, Γ is not hit by the range of the corresponding (L, α)-superdiffusion in D; (β) the Poisson capacity of Γ is equal to 0; that is, the integral is equal to 0 or ∞ for every measure ν, where ρ(x) is the distance to the boundary and k(x, y) is the corresponding Poisson kernel; and (γ) Γ is a removable boundary singularity for the equation Lu = uα in D; that is, if u ≥ 0 and Lu = uα in D and if u = 0 on ∂D \ Γ, then u = 0. We investigate a similar problem for a parabolic operator in a smooth cylinder 𝒬 = ℝ+ × D. Let Γ be a compact set on the lateral boundary of 𝒬. We show that the following three properties are equivalent: (a) Γ is 𝒢-polar; that is, Γ is not hit by the graph of the corresponding (L, α)-superdiffusion in 𝒬; (b) the Poisson capacity of Γ is equal to 0; that is, the integral is equal to 0 or ∞ for every measure ν, where k(r, x; t, y) is the corresponding (parabolic) Poisson kernel; and (c) Γ is a removable lateral singularity for the equation + Lu = uα in 𝒬; that is, if u ≥ 0 and + Lu = uα in 𝒬 and if u = 0 on ∂𝒬 \ Γ and on {∞} × D, then u = 0. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain, S be a (saturated) multiplicative subset of D such that D ? D S , Γ be a numerical semigroup with Γ ? ?0, Γ* = Γ?{0}, X be an indeterminate over D, D + XD S [X] = {a + Xg ∈ D S [X]∣a ∈ D and g ∈ D S [X]}, and D + D S [Γ*] = {a + f ∈ D S [Γ]∣a ∈ D and f ∈ D S [Γ*]}; so D + D S [Γ*] ? D + XD S [X]. In this article, we study when D + D S [Γ*] is an APvMD, an AGCD-domain, an AS-domain, an AP-domain, or an AB-domain.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain and * a star-operation on D. For a nonzero ideal I of D, let I * f = ?{J* | (0) ≠ J ? I is finitely generated} and I * w = ? P∈* f -Max(D) ID P . A nonzero ideal I of D is called a *-cancellation ideal if (IA)* = (IB)* for nonzero ideals A and B of D implies A* =B*. Let X be an indeterminate over D and N * = {fD[X] | (c(f))* =D}. We show that I is a * w -cancellation ideal if and only if I is * f -locally principal, if and only if ID[X] N * is a cancellation ideal. As a corollary, we have that each nonzero ideal of D is a * w -cancellation ideal if and only if D P is a principal ideal domain for all P ∈ * f -Max(D), if and only if D[X] N * is an almost Dedekind domain. We also show that if I is a * w -cancellation ideal of D, then I * w  = I * f  = I t , and I is * w -invertible if and only if I * w  = J v for a nonzero finitely generated ideal J of D.  相似文献

We prove that Kergin interpolation polynomials and Hakopian interpolation polynomials at the points of a Leja sequence for the unit disk D of a sufficiently smooth function f in a neighbourhood of D converge uniformly to f on D. Moreover, when fC (D), all the derivatives of the interpolation polynomials converge uniformly to the corresponding derivatives of f.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K. A Bhargava ring over D is defined to be 𝔹 x (D): = {f ∈ K[X] | ? a ∈ D, f(xX + a) ∈ D[X]}, where x ∈ D. A Bhargava ring over D is a subring of the ring of integer-valued polynomials over D. In this article, we study the prime ideal structure and calculate the Krull and valuative dimension of Bhargava rings over a general domain D.  相似文献

Although the plane boundary value problem for the Laplacian with given Dirichlet data on one part Γ2 and given Neumann data on the remaining part Γ2 of the boundary is the simplest case of mixed boundary value problems, we present several applications in classical mathematical physics. Using Green's formula the problem is converted into a system of Fredholm integral equations for the yet unknown values of the solution u on Γ2 and the also desired values of the normal derivatie on Γ1. One of these equations has principal part of the second kind, whereas that one of the other is of the first kind. Since any improvement of constructive methods requires higher regularity of u but, on the other hand, grad u possesses singularities at the collision points Γ1 ∩ Γ2 even for C data, u is decomposed into special singular terms and a regular rest. This is incorporated into the integral equations and the modified system is solved in appropriate Sobolev spaces. The solution of the system requires to solve a Fredholm equation of the first kind on the arc Γ2 providing an improvement of regularity for the smooth part of u. Since the integral equations form a strongly elliptic system of pseudodifferential operators, the Galerkin procedure converges. Using regular finite element functions on Γ1 and Γ2 augmented by the special singular functions we obtain optimal order of asymptotic convergence in the norm corresponding to the energy norm of u and also superconvergence as well as high orders in smoother norms if the given data are smooth (and not the solution).  相似文献

The following result is proved: Let D and D′ be bounded domains in ℂ n , ∂D is smooth, real-analytic, simply connected, and ∂D′ is connected, smooth, real-algebraic. Then there exists a proper holomorphic correspondence f:DD′ if and only if there exist points p∈∂D and p′∈∂D′, such that ∂D and ∂D′ are locally CR-equivalent near p and p′. This leads to a characterization of the equivalence relationship between bounded domains in ℂ n modulo proper holomorphic correspondences in terms of local CR-equivalence of their boundaries. Let M be a smooth closed orientable surface and F = F p,q,r be the space of Morse functions on M having exactly p points of local minimum, q ≥ 1 saddle critical points, and r points of local maximum, moreover, all the points are fixed. Let F f be a connected component of a function fF in F.We construct a surjection π 0(F) → ℤ p+r−1 by means of the winding number introduced by Reinhart (1960). In particular, |π0(F)| = ∞, and the component F f is not preserved under the Dehn twist about the boundary of any disk containing exactly two critical points, exactly one of which is a saddle point. Let D be the group of orientation preserving diffeomorphisms of M leaving fixed the critical points, D 0 be the connected component of id M in D, and D f D be the set of diffeomorphisms preserving F f . Let H f be the subgroup of D f generated by D 0 and all diffeomorphisms hD preserving some function f 1F f , and let H f abs be its subgroup generated by D 0 and the Dehn twists about the components of level curves of the functions f 1F f . We prove thatH f absD f for q ≥ 2 and construct an epimorphism D f /H f abs → ℤ2 q−1 by means of the winding number. A finite polyhedral complex K = K p,q,r associated with the space F is defined. An epimorphism μ: π 1(K) → D f /H f and finite generating sets for the groups D f /D 0 and D f /H f in terms of the 2-skeleton of the complex K are constructed.  相似文献

Let Ω be a bounded C2 domain in ?n and ? ?Ω → ?m be a continuous map. The Dirichlet problem for the minimal surface system asks whether there exists a Lipschitz map f : Ω → ?m with f| = ? and with the graph of f a minimal submanifold in ?n+m. For m = 1, the Dirichlet problem was solved more than 30 years ago by Jenkins and Serrin [12] for any mean convex domains and the solutions are all smooth. This paper considers the Dirichlet problem for convex domains in arbitrary codimension m. We prove that if ψ : ¯Ω → ?m satisfies 8nδ supΩ |D2ψ| + √2 sup || < 1, then the Dirichlet problem for ψ| is solvable in smooth maps. Here δ is the diameter of Ω. Such a condition is necessary in view of an example of Lawson and Osserman [13]. In order to prove this result, we study the associated parabolic system and solve the Cauchy‐Dirichlet problem with ψ as initial data. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Let A be an Archimedean f -algebra and let N(A) be the set of all nilpotent elements of A. Colville et al. [6] proved that a positive linear map D : AA is a derivation if and only if D(A) ì N(A){D(A)\subset N(A)} and D(A 2) = {0}, where A 2 is the set of all products ab in A. In this paper, we establish a result corresponding to the Colville–Davis–Keimel theorem for an order bounded derivation D on an Archimedean almost f -algebra, which generalizes the results of Boulabiar [3].  相似文献

Liczberski–Starkov gave a sharp lower bound for DΦn(f)(z) near the origin, where Φn is the Roper–Suffridge extension operator and f is a normalized convex mapping on the unit disk in C. They gave a conjecture that the sharp lower bound holds on the Euclidean unit ball Bn in Cn. In this paper, we will give a sharp lower bound on Bn for a more general extension operator and for normalized univalent mappings f or normalized convex mappings f. We will give a lower bound for mappings f in a linear invariant family. We will also give a similar sharp lower bound on bounded convex complete Reinhardt domains in Cn.  相似文献
