In a recent article, we achieved the well-posedness of linear hyperbolic initial and boundary value problems (IBVP) in a rectangle via semigroup method, and we found that there are only two elementary modes called hyperbolic and elliptic modes in the system. It seems that, there is only one set of boundary conditions for the hyperbolic mode, while there are infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for the elliptic mode, which can lead to well-posedness. In this article, we continue to consider linear hyperbolic IBVP in a rectangle in the constant coefficients case and we show that there are also infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for hyperbolic mode which will lead to the existence of a solution. We also have uniqueness in some special cases. The boundary conditions satisfy the reflection conditions introduced in Section 3, which turn out to be equivalent to the strictly dissipative conditions.  相似文献

We establish the existence and stability of multidimensional transonic shocks (hyperbolic‐elliptic shocks) for the Euler equations for steady compressible potential fluids in infinite cylinders. The Euler equations, consisting of the conservation law of mass and the Bernoulli law for velocity, can be written as a second order nonlinear equation of mixed elliptic‐hyperbolic type for the velocity potential. The transonic shock problem in an infinite cylinder can be formulated into the following free boundary problem: The free boundary is the location of the multidimensional transonic shock which divides two regions of C1,α flow in the infinite cylinder, and the equation is hyperbolic in the upstream region where the C1,α perturbed flow is supersonic. We develop a nonlinear approach to deal with such a free boundary problem in order to solve the transonic shock problem in unbounded domains. Our results indicate that there exists a solution of the free boundary problem such that the equation is always elliptic in the unbounded downstream region, the uniform velocity state at infinity in the downstream direction is uniquely determined by the given hyperbolic phase, and the free boundary is C1,α, provided that the hyperbolic phase is close in C1,α to a uniform flow. We further prove that, if the steady perturbation of the hyperbolic phase is C2,α, the free boundary is C2,α and stable under the steady perturbation. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals Inc.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with a weighted least-squares finite element method for approximating the solution of boundary value problems for 2-D viscous incompressible flows. We consider the generalized Stokes equations with velocity boundary conditions. Introducing the auxiliary variables (stresses) of the velocity gradients and combining the divergence free condition with some compatibility conditions, we can recast the original second-order problem as a Petrovski-type first-order elliptic system (called velocity–stress–pressure formulation) in six equations and six unknowns together with Riemann–Hilbert-type boundary conditions. A weighted least-squares finite element method is proposed for solving this extended first-order problem. The finite element approximations are defined to be the minimizers of a weighted least-squares functional over the finite element subspaces of the H1 product space. With many advantageous features, the analysis also shows that, under suitable assumptions, the method achieves optimal order of convergence both in the L2-norm and in the H1-norm. © 1998 B. G. We study the well-posedness of the mixed problem for hyperbolic equations with constant coefficients and with characteristics of variable multiplicity. We single out a class of higher-order hyperbolic operators with constant coefficients and with characteristics of variable multiplicity, for which we obtain a generalization of the Sakamoto conditions for the well-posedness of the mixed problem in L 2.  相似文献

The free boundary value problems for elliptic differential-operator equations are studied. Several conditions for the uniform maximal regularity with respect to boundary parameters and the Fredholmness in abstract L p -spaces are given. In application, the nonlocal free boundary problems for finite or infinite systems of elliptic and anisotropic type equations are studied.  相似文献

In our previous work, we have established the existence of transonic characteristic discontinuities separating supersonic flows from a static gas in two-dimensional steady compressible Euler flows under a perturbation with small total variation of the incoming supersonic flow over a solid right wedge. It is a free boundary problem in Eulerian coordinates and, across the free boundary (characteristic discontinuity), the Euler equations are of elliptic–hyperbolic composite-mixed type. In this paper, we further prove that such a transonic characteristic discontinuity solution is unique and L 1–stable with respect to the small perturbation of the incoming supersonic flow in Lagrangian coordinates.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior for the incompressible anisotropic Navier–Stokes equations with the non-slip boundary condition in a half space of ${\mathbb{R}^3}$ when the vertical viscosity goes to zero. Firstly, by multi-scale analysis, we formally deduce an asymptotic expansion of the solution to the problem with respect to the vertical viscosity, which shows that the boundary layer appears in the tangential velocity field and satisfies a nonlinear parabolic–elliptic coupled system. Also from the expansion, it is observed that away from the boundary the solution of the anisotropic Navier–Stokes equations formally converges to a solution of a degenerate incompressible Navier–Stokes equation. Secondly, we study the well-posedness of the problems for the boundary layer equations and then rigorously justify the asymptotic expansion by using the energy method. We obtain the convergence results of the vanishing vertical viscosity limit, that is, the solution to the incompressible anisotropic Navier–Stokes equations tends to the solution to degenerate incompressible Navier–Stokes equations away from the boundary, while near the boundary, it tends to the boundary layer profile, in both the energy space and the L space.  相似文献

The boundary value problems for differential-operator equations with variable coefficients, degenerated on all boundary are studied. Several conditions for the separability, fredholmness and resolvent estimates in L p -spaces are given. In applications degenerate Cauchy problem for parabolic equation, boundary value problems for degenerate partial differential equations and systems of degenerate elliptic equations on cylindrical domain are studied.  相似文献

The steady three-dimensional exterior flow of a viscoelastic non-Newtonian fluid is approximated by reducing the corresponding nonlinear elliptic–hyperbolic system to a bounded domain. On the truncation surface with a large radius R, nonlinear, local second-order artificial boundary conditions are constructed and a new concept of an artificial transport equation is introduced. Although the asymptotic structure of solutions at infinity is known, certain attributes cannot be found explicitly so that the artificial boundary conditions must be constructed with incomplete information on asymptotics. To show the existence of a solution to the approximation problem and to estimate the asymptotic precision, a general abstract scheme, adapted to the analysis of coupled systems of elliptic–hyperbolic type, is proposed. The error estimates, obtained in weighted Sobolev norms with arbitrarily large smoothness indices, prove an approximation of order O(R−2+ε), with any ε>0. Our approach, in contrast to other papers on artificial boundary conditions, does not use the standard assumptions on compactly supported right-hand side f, leads, in particular, to pointwise estimates and provides error bounds with constants independent of both R and f. The aim of the paper is to prove optimal results on local and global uniform convergence of solutions to elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions on varying domains. We assume that the limit domain be stable in the sense of Keldyš [Amer. Math. Soc. Transl. 51 (1966) 1-73]. We further assume that the approaching domains satisfy a necessary condition in the inside of the limit domain, and only require L2-convergence outside. As a consequence, uniform and L2-convergence are the same in the trivial case of homogenisation of a perforated domain. We are also able to deal with certain cracking domains.  相似文献

We consider coerciveness and Fredholmness of nonlocal boundary value problems for complete second order elliptic differential-operator equations in UMD Banach spaces. In some special cases, the main coefficients of the boundary conditions may be bounded operators and not only complex numbers. Then, we prove an isomorphism, in particular, maximal L p -regularity, of the problem with a linear parameter in the equation. In both cases, the boundary conditions may also contain unbounded operators in perturbation terms. Finally, application to regular nonlocal boundary value problems for elliptic equations of the second order in non-smooth domains are presented. Equations and boundary conditions may contain differential-integral parts. The spaces of solvability are Sobolev type spaces W p,q 2,2. We study the well-posedness of the equations with fractional derivative D^αu(t) = Au(t) + f(t),0≤ t ≤ 2π, where A is a closed operator in a Banach space X, α 〉 0 and D^α is the fractional derivative in the sense of Weyl. Using known results on LP-multipliers, we give necessary and/or sufficient conditions for the LP-well-posedness of this problem. The conditions we give involve the resolvent of A and the Rademacher boundedness. Corresponding results on the well-posedness of this problem in periodic Besov spaces, periodic Triebel-Lizorkin spaces and periodic Hardy spaces are also obtained.  相似文献

We obtain the global well-posedness for Schrödinger equations of higher orders in weighted L2 spaces. This is based on weighted L2 Strichartz estimates for the corresponding propagator with higher-order dispersion. Our method is also applied to the Airy equation which is the linear component of Korteweg-de Vries type equations.  相似文献

An interpolated coefficient finite element method is presented and analyzed for the two‐dimensional elliptic sine‐Gordon equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions. It is proved that the discretization scheme admits at least one solution, and that a subsequence of the approximation solutions converges to an exact solution in L2‐norm as the mesh size tends to zero. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The main aim of this paper is to discuss the problem concerning the analyticity of the solutions of analytic non-linear elliptic boundary value problems. It is proved that if the corresponding first variation is regular in Lopatinskiĭ sense, then the solution is analytic up to the boundary. The method of proof really covers the case that the corresponding first variation is regularly elliptic in the sense of Douglis-Nirenberg-Volevich, and hence completely generalize the previous result of C. B. Morrey. The author also discusses linear elliptic boundary value problems for systems of elliptic partial differential equations where the boundary operators are allowed to have singular integral operators as their coefficients. Combining the standard Fourier transform technique with analytic continuation argument, the author constructs the Poisson and Green’s kernel matrices related to the problems discussed and hence obtain some representation formulae to the solutions. Some a priori estimates of Schauder type and L p type are obtained. __________ Translated from Acta Sci. Natur. Univ. Jilin, 1963, (2): 403–447 by GAO Wenjie.  相似文献

This paper describes the rate of convergence of solutions of Robin boundary value problems of an elliptic equation to the solution of a Dirichlet problem as a boundary parameter decreases to zero. The results are found using representations for solutions of the equations in terms of Steklov eigenfunctions. Particular interest is in the case where the Dirichlet data is only in L2(,). Various approximation bounds are obtained and the rate of convergence of the Robin approximations in the H1 and L2 norms are shown to have convergence rates that depend on the regularity of the Dirichlet data.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the study of the well-posedness of mixed problems for hyperbolic equations with constant coefficients and characteristics of variable multiplicity. The authors distinguish a class of higher-order hyperbolic operators with constant coefficients and characteristics of variable multiplicity for which a generalization of the Sakamoto L 2-well-posedness of the mixed problem is obtained. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 12, No. 6, pp. 85–98, 2006.  相似文献

We introduce an abstract setting that allows to discuss wave equations with time-dependent boundary conditions by means of operator matrices. We show that such problems are well-posed if and only if certain perturbations of the same problems with homogeneous, time-independent boundary conditions are well-posed. As applications we discuss two wave equations in Lp(0, 1) and in L2(Ω) equipped with dynamical and acoustic-like boundary conditions, respectively.  相似文献

We consider energy estimates for second order homogeneous hyperbolic equations with time dependent coefficients. The property of energy conservation, which holds in the case of constant coefficients, does not hold in general for variable coefficients; in fact, the energy can be unbounded as t → ∞ in this case. The conditions to the coefficients for the generalized energy conservation (GEC), which is an equivalence of the energy uniformly with respect to time, has been studied precisely for wave type equations, that is, only the propagation speed is variable. However, it is not true that the same conditions to the coefficients conclude (GEC) for general homogeneous hyperbolic equations. The main purpose of this paper is to give additional conditions to the coefficients which provide (GEC); they will be called as C k -type Levi conditions due to the essentially same meaning of usual Levi condition for the well-posedness of weakly hyperbolic equations.  相似文献

Abstract. The well-posedness for the time-dependent neutron transport equation with integral boundary conditions is established in LI space. Some spectral properties of the transport operator are discussed, the dorninant dgenvalue is proved existhlg, and furthermore, the conservative law of migrating particle numbers is established.  相似文献
