In this paper a method for the resolution of the differential equation of the Jacobi vector fields in the manifold V 1 = Sp(2)/SU(2) is exposed. These results are applied to determine areas and volumes of geodesic spheres and balls. We determine the L 2-Betti numbers of all one-relator groups and all surface-plus-one-relation groups. We also obtain some information about the L 2-cohomology of left-orderable groups, and deduce the non-L 2 result that, in any left-orderable group of homological dimension one, all two-generator subgroups are free. We study extension of operators T: EL0([0, 1]), where E is an F–function space and L0([0, 1]) the space of measurable functions with the topology of convergence in measure, to domains larger than E, and we study the properties of such domains. The main tool is the integration of scalar functions with respect to stochastic measures and the corresponding spaces of integrable functions. The Hilbert and Riesz transforms can be characterized up to scalar as the translation invariant operators that satisfy additionally certain relative invariance of conformal transformation groups. In this article, we initiate a systematic study of translation invariant operators from group theoretic viewpoints, and formalize a geometric condition that characterizes specific multiplier operators uniquely up to scalar by means of relative invariance of affine subgroups. After providing some interesting examples of multiplier operators having “large symmetry”, we classify which of these examples can be extended to continuous operators on L p (R n ) (1 < p < ∞). T. In this paper, we consider the special case of the question raised by Halmos (see below). In particular, we show that if Tk is p-hyponormal, then T is a subscalar operator of order 4k. As a corollary, we obtain that if Tk is p-hyponormal and σ(T) has nonempty interior in the plane, then T has a nontrivial invariant subspace.  相似文献

Let ƒ be a transcendental meromorphic function, a a nonzero finite complex number, and n ⩾ 2 a positive integer. Then ƒ + a(ƒ′) n assumes every complex value infinitely often. This answers a question of Ye for n = 2. A related normality criterion is also given. In this paper, we consider finite families of convex sets in ℝ d such that every d or fewer sets of the family have a common point. For some families of this type, we give upper bounds on the size of a finite set intersecting all sets of the family. This paper considers some random processes of the form X n+1=T X n +B n (mod p) where B n and X n are random variables over (ℤ/pℤ) d and T is a fixed d×d integer matrix which is invertible over the complex numbers. For a particular distribution for B n , this paper improves results of Asci to show that if T has no complex eigenvalues of length 1, then for integers p relatively prime to det (T), order (log p)2 steps suffice to make X n close to uniformly distributed where X 0 is the zero vector. This paper also shows that if T has a complex eigenvalue which is a root of unity, then order p b steps are needed for X n to get close to uniformly distributed for some positive value b≤2 which may depend on T and X 0 is the zero vector.  相似文献

We investigate R-bounded representations , where X is a Banach space and G is a lca group. We point out that if the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator is bounded on the space L p(t)(ℝ), 1 < ap(t) ≤ b < ∞, t ∈ ℝ, then the well-known characterization of the spaces L p (ℝ), 1 < p < ∞, by the Littlewood–Paley theory extends to the space L p(t)(ℝ). We show that, for n > 1 , the Littlewood–Paley operator is bounded on L p(t) (ℝ n ), 1 < ap(t) ≤ b < ∞, t ∈ ℝ n , if and only if p(t) = const. The construction of frame wavelets with compact supports is a meaningful problem in wavelet analysis. In particular, it is a hard work to construct the frame wavelets with explicit analytic forms. For a given n × n real expansive matrix A, the frame-sets with respect to A are a family of sets in R^n. Based on the frame-sets, a class of high-dimensional frame wavelets with analytic forms are constructed, which can be non-bandlimited, or even compactly supported. As an application, the construction is illustrated by several examples, in which some new frame wavelets with compact supports are constructed. Moreover, since the main result of this paper is about general dilation matrices, in the examples we present a family of frame wavelets associated with some non-integer dilation matrices that is meaningful in computational geometry.  相似文献

Let p be a real number greater than one. In this paper we study the vanishing and nonvanishing of the first L p -cohomology space of some groups that have one end. We also make a connection between the first L p -cohomolgy space and the Floyd boundary of the Cayley graph of a group. We apply the result about Floyd boundaries to show that there exists a real number p such that the first L p -cohomology space of a nonelementary hyperbolic group does not vanish. General limit theorems are established for l p -valued Gaussian random fields indexed by a multidimensional parameter, which contain both almost sure moduli of continuity and limits of large increments for the l p -valued Gaussian random fields under explicit conditions. In [9], we proved numerically that spaces generated by linear combinations of some two-dimensional Haar functions exhibit unexpectedly nice orders of approximation for solutions of the single-layer potential equation in a rectangle. This phenomenon is closely related, on the one hand, to the properties of the approximation method of hyperbolic crosses and on the other to the existence of a strong singularity for solutions of such boundary integral equations. In the present paper, we establish several results on the approximation for the hyperbolic crosses and on the best N-term approximations by linear combinations of Haar functions in the H s -norms, −1 < s < 1/2; this provides a theoretical base for our numerical research. An efficient approach to computing the convex best C 1-spline interpolant to a given set of data is to solve an associated dual program by standard numerical methods (e.g., Newton’s method). We study regularity and well-posedness of the dual program: two important issues that have been not yet well-addressed in the literature. Our regularity results characterize the case when the generalized Hessian of the objective function is positive definite. We also give sufficient conditions for the coerciveness of the objective function. These results together specify conditions when the dual program is well-posed and hence justify why Newton’s method is likely to be successful in practice. Examples are given to illustrate the obtained results. This work treats Lp regularity theory for weak solutions of parabolic equations in divergence form with discontinuous coefficients on nonsmooth domains.
