In this paper the effects of temperature on theradial breathing modes(RBMs) and radial wave propagation in multiwall carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) are investigated using a continuum model of multiple elastic isotropicshells.The van der Waals forces between tubes are simulatedas a nonlinear function of interlayer spacing of MWCNTs.The governing equations are solved using a finite elementmethod.A wide range of innermost radius-to-thickness ratioof MWCNTs is considered to enhance the investigation.Thepresented solution is verified by comparing the results withthose reported in the literature.The effects of temperature onthe van der Waals interaction coefficient between layers ofMWCNTs are examined.It is found that the variation of thevan der Waals interaction coefficient at high temperature issensible.Subsequently,variations of RBM frequencies andradial wave propagation in MWCNTs with temperatures upto 1 600 K are illustrated.It is shown that the thick MWCNTs are more sensible to temperature than the thin ones.  相似文献

双马来酰亚胺树脂是高性能碳纤维复合材料的新型基体材料,在航空航天等领域具有广泛的应用。目前,相关材料的改性技术、制备工艺以及材料性能等考察仍以实验为主,数值模型及相应的分析方法则相对较少。本文构建了4,4′—二苯甲烷双马来酰亚胺(BDM)和二烯丙基双酚A(DABPA,固化剂)的分子尺度数值模型,实现了与实验过程基本一致的交联反应过程,考察了BDM/DABPA树脂材料的力学性质以及由碳纳米管填充所引起的强化规律和机理。结果表明,树脂材料的力学性质随着交联程度的提高而增加,而短碳纳米管的掺杂也可以进一步增强力学性质。研究工作为基于双马树脂的复合材料设计构建了数值分析技术,为相关材料的性能改进从微观层次提供了有价值的参考。  相似文献

In this study, a model for dynamic instability of embedded single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is presented. SWCNTs are modeled by the sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory (SSDBT). The modified couple stress theory (MCST) is considered in order to capture the size effects. The surrounding elastic medium is described by a visco-Pasternak foundation model, which accounts for normal, transverse shear, and damping loads. The motion equations are derived based on Hamilton’s principle. The differential quadrature method (DQM) in conjunction with the Bolotin method is used in order to calculate the dynamic instability region (DIR) of SWCNTs. The effects of different parameters, such as nonlocal parameter, visco-Pasternak foundation, mode numbers, and geometrical parameters, are shown on the dynamic instability of SWCNTs. The results depict that increasing the nonlocal parameter shifts the DIR to right. The results presented in this paper would be helpful in design and manufacturing of nano-electromechanical system (NEMS) and micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS).  相似文献

The effects of mechanical boundary conditions, often encountered in thermalstructural engineering, on the thermal shock resistance (TSR) of ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) are studied by investigating the TSR of a UHTC plate with various types of constraints under the first, second, and third type of thermal boundary conditions. The TSR of UHTCs is strongly dependent on the heat transfer modes and severity of the thermal environments. Constraining the displacement of the lower surface in the thickness direction can significantly decrease the TSR of the UHTC plate, which is subject to the thermal shock at the upper surface. In contrast, the TSR of the UHTC plate with simply supported edges or clamped edges around the lower surface is much better.  相似文献

The structural instability of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) has captured extensive attention due to the unique characteristic of extremely thin hollow cylinder structure. The previous studies usually focus on the buckling behavior without considering the effects of the wall number and initial pressure. In this paper, the axial buckling behavior of MWCNTs with the length-to-outermost radius ratio less than 20 is investigated within the framework of the Donnell shell theory. The governing equations for the infinitesimal buckling of MWCNTs are established, accounting for the van der Waals (vdW) interaction between layers. The effects of the wall number, initial pressure prior to buckling, and aspect ratio on the critical buckling mode, buckling load, and buckling strain are discussed, respectively. Specially, the four-walled and twenty-walled CNTs are studied in detail, indicating the fact that the buckling instability may occur in other layers besides the outermost layer. The obtained results extend the buckling analysis of the continuum-based model, and provide theoretical support for the application of CNTs.  相似文献

The free thermal vibration of functionally graded material (FGM) cylindrical shells containing porosities is investigated. Both even distribution and uneven distribution are taken into account. In addition, three thermal load types, i.e., uniform temperature rise (UTR), nonlinear temperature rise (NLTR), and linear temperature rise (LTR), are researched to explore their effects on the vibration characteristics of porous FGM cylindrical shells. A modified power-law formulation is used to describe the material properties of FGM shells in the thickness direction. Love’s shell theory is used to formulate the strain-displacement equations, and the Rayleigh-Ritz method is utilized to calculate the natural frequencies of the system. The results show that the natural frequencies are affected by the porosity volume fraction, constituent volume fraction, and thermal load. Moreover, the natural frequencies obtained from the LTR have insignificant differences compared with those from the NLTR. Due to the calculation complexity of the NLTR, we propose that it is reasonable to replace it by its linear counterpart for the analysis of thin porous FGM cylindrical shells. The present results are verified in comparison with the published ones in the literature.  相似文献
