Tyre/road interaction is the main source of noise emission caused by road traffic when cruising at speeds over 30 km/h. Several methods such as the Coast-By, the Close-Proximity, the Statistical Pass-By or the Controlled Pass-By have been used over recent decades to measure noise emission. However, since Regulation (EC) No. 1222/2009 on the labelling of tyres was published, only the method described in UNECE Regulation 117 concerning the approval of tyres with regard to rolling sound emissions, can be used in order to obtain tyre/road noise emission approved values. All these conventional methods have several disadvantages such as the lack of repeatibility, the influence of environmental factors or the different results that can be obtained depending on the test track or the vehicle upon which the tests are carried out. A new methodology based on drum tests and the ISO 3744:1994 has been developed in order to avoid these limitations. This paper describes the new method including the positioning of microphones, calculating correction factors, characterising the background noise caused by the drum and obtaining the sound power level of a tyre when rolling against a drum.  相似文献

The identification of tyre induced vehicle interior noise   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Sound transmission into a vehicle is classified as either airborne or structure borne sound. From the point view of noise control, the reduction of noise transferred by different paths requires different solutions. Coherence function analysis is often used to identify transmission paths. However it can be difficult to separate the airborne from structure borne components. The principle of acoustic reciprocity offers a convenient method for overcoming this difficulty. The principal states that the transfer function between an acoustic volume velocity source and an acoustic receiver is independent of a reversal of the position of source and receiver. The work done on this study involves exciting a stationary tyre and measuring the surface velocity of the tyre at a number of discrete points. The acoustic transfer functions between each point on the tyre and a receiver point are measured reciprocally. Two sets of measurements are then combined to yield a measure of the sound pressure due to a point force on the tyre via the acoustic transmission path only. This technique also provides information on the relative contributions of various regions of the tyre wall to the resultant noise. Also the sound radiation characteristics, the horn effect, and resonance at the wheel housing are identified through the reciprocal measurement.  相似文献

A survey of the characteristics of the noise emitted by commercial vehicles has been made. The most important single parameter determining the noise of a modern diesel-engined vehicle is the engine speed. All of the other parameters such as load, road speed, etc., have only a secondary effect.The sources of noise on the vehicle are reviewed and it is shown how the characteristics of these sources determine the overall noise characteristics of the vehicle. It has been found that a simple model of the vehicle as a number of coincident point sources predicts the overall noise characteristics of the vehicle to ±2 dB(A). It is shown that there are two extremes of behaviour, the rolling noise controlled vehicle and the power unit noise controlled vehicle; the engine is currently the controlling noise source.Tyre noise has been investigated in some detail as comparatively little has been published previously on this source. Empirical relationships between the tyre noise and speed, tyre size and road surface roughness are given. It is concluded that tyre noise is generated by impacting between elements of the tyre tread and elements of the road surface.Modifications have been made to the engine, exhaust, intake and cooling fan of a 9 ton, 6 litre diesel engined truck which have reduced its ISO test noise level from 88 dB(A) to 80 dB(A). However, it is concluded that 80 dB(A) commercial vehicles are not yet feasible for production. In particular insufficient is known about cooling fan design.Finally cab noise has been investigated and it has been found to originate from the same source as the exterior noise, power unit airborne noise. Therefore any modifications to the power unit to reduce exterior noise will have a similar effect on interior noise. This is confirmed by the vehicle modifications mentioned above which reduced the maximum cab noise from 87 dB(A) to 79 dB(A).  相似文献

It has been a challenge in the past to accurately locate and quantify the pass-by noise source radiated by the running vehicles. A system composed of a microphone array is developed in our current work to do this work. An acoustic-holography method for moving sound sources is designed to handle the Doppler effect effectively in the time domain. The effective sound pressure distribution is reconstructed on the surface of a running vehicle. The method has achieved a high calculation efficiency and is able to quantitatively measure the sound pressure at the sound source and identify the location of the main sound source. The method is also validated by the simulation experiments and the measurement tests with known moving speakers. Finally, the engine noise, tire noise, exhaust noise and wind noise of the vehicle running at different speeds are successfully identified by this method.  相似文献

It is sometimes important to know the sound power radiated from a sound source so that, for example, the solution noise abatement can be carried out on the basis of the sound power radiated.Measurement of the sound power in general is carried out in a reverberant enclosure. This measuring method is classed as an indirect one in that the sound power is obtained via the sound pressure level. Consequently, in order to determine the sound power radiated as precisely as possible, some measurement procedures for obtaining the space-average sound pressure have been devised. However, the procedure, which involves moving the measuring microphone from point to point, is extremely tedious. Accordingly, if the system from data acquisition to data processing is automated, the work required for obtaining the space-average sound pressure will be considerably reduced, as will the time required for processing the data.The development of an automatic measuring system for sound power is discussed and it is shown that the sound power obtained with the system devised agrees well with that obtained by more familiar means.  相似文献

The paper describes a model that can be used to reconstitute the acoustic signature (sound pressure level) of a moving road vehicle. Account is taken of the Doppler and ground effects and of the directional characteristics of the noise emitted by the vehicle. The variations of the usual noise indices (maximum noise level, equivalent noise level due to the passing by of the vehicle) with the different parameters concerned, as determined by the modal, are considered and such variations compared with experimental results. It is shown, on the basis of the assumptions made, how a monopole source provides a good representation of a road vehicle. Finally an evaluation is made of the accuracy with which the apparent acoustic power of a vehicle can be determined.  相似文献

Experimental results are presented on the effect of both the sound pressure level and the type of spectrum of a sound source on the impedance of an acoustic lining. The spectra under study include those of white noise, a narrow-band signal, and a signal with a preset waveform. It is found that, to obtain reliable data on the impedance of an acoustic lining from the results of interferometric measurements, the total sound pressure level of white noise or the maximal sound pressure level of a pure tone (at every oscillation frequency) needs to be identical to the total sound pressure level of the actual source at the site of acoustic lining on the channel wall.  相似文献

A common problem for large factories that wish to decrease their environmental acoustic impact on neighbouring locations is to find out the acoustic power of every noise source. As these factories cannot stop their activity in order to measure each source individually, a procedure is needed to obtain the acoustic powers with the factory under normal operating conditions. Their contribution to the overall sound pressure level at each neighbouring location can then be found and it is possible to calculate the improvements obtained after any modification of the sources. In this paper an inversion modelling method is used to do so. Acoustic powers are obtained by means of field sound pressure level measurements and with the use of a sound propagation software. A careful analysis of the solution has been carried out by simulating errors on the measured data in order to detect possible correlations between the acoustic power of different sources and avoid misleading interpretations of the results. The whole methodology has been applied to a liquid-gas production factory.  相似文献

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices are popularly used for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) treatment. However, the noise level emission from these devices has been identified as a potential factor for patient’s discomfort and rejection. There is a need to obtain information on the noise characteristics and source locations in order to tackle the most serious noise source within these devices. A typical CPAP device was used for the investigation and its sound characteristics and sound power levels were determined. The noise generated from a centrifugal fan was also independently investigated to address its contribution to the overall noise of the device. Frequency analysis suggested that the noise generated from both the CPAP device and the fan is broadband in nature with discrete peaks containing rotational and non-rotational components. The broadband components were then studied in detail using numerical simulation approach. Computational aeroacoustics (CAA) method with hybrid approach was used to a three-dimensional (3-D) CPAP fluid model to predict the aerodynamic and aeroacoustics behaviours of the device. This showed a complicated flow structure involving flow separation, rotation, and vortices in several locations which resulted in high level of flow turbulence inside the device. The turbulent components were used to estimate the broadband noise level at source using the broadband noise source (BNS) models. It shows the most critical location is at the fan region and at the fan inlet.  相似文献

A simple method of measuring sound power is described. Noise is added from a second calibrated source until the room sound pressure level is increased by 3 dB. The noise output of the device is then equal to the added power. A simple loudspeaker, modified to reduce the effect of the environment on the sound power output, is used as the calibrated source of sound power. Checks show that the sound power readings are substantially independent of the room in which they are made.  相似文献

Taps and other valves are major sound sources in piping systems and can cause unacceptable noise levels in buildings. The noise results from the fluid-, structure- and air-borne sound emission. At present the acoustic emission of water appliances is tested according to a European standard, the shortcomings of which are apparent as a result of a round robin test of different European laboratories. As a result, there are currently neither acceptable measurement methods for water appliances available nor input data for prediction models. This paper considers methods of characterizing water appliances as sources of structure-borne sound. The concepts of mobility and free velocity are employed for a source characterisation based on power. Taps are considered alone and also in combination with a basin, where again the mobility and free velocity are used. A reception plate method is assessed as an alternative. The two methods each provide an independent characterisation of a structure-borne sound source as a single value. The values are on a power basis and provide input data suitable for prediction of the installed structure-borne power and thence the resultant sound pressure in adjacent rooms. Measured and predicted values of sound pressure level, caused by a wash-basin installed in an adjacent room, are compared.  相似文献

The proposed method is an improvement of the methods for measurement of sound power level, in which the real sound source is represented by an equivalent monopole. It is based on a new concept, the equivalent acoustical centre, which is introduced and defined in the paper. The main assets of the method in comparison with the existing monopole-methods are a higher accuracy, a possibility of measuring at considerably shorter distances from the noise source, and a certain freedom in the choise of the measuring points around the source. Moreover, since the position of the equivalent monopole is obtained, it can be used for more accurate calculations of the sound transmission to the surroundings of the source. The method is particularly suitable for determination of sound power levels and sound transmission of noise radiated from large areas, such as industrial complexes, installations of petrochemical industries and the like. It can be especially useful in disputable cases of industrial plants that produce noise close to the legally permissible limit. The new method was first reported at the meeting of the Dutch Acoustical Society which took place in Utrecht on 22 November 1978.  相似文献

The sound radiation from rolling tyres is still not very well understood. Although details such as horn effect or directivity during rolling have been investigated, it is not clear which vibrational modes of the tyre structure are responsible for the radiated sound power. In this work an advanced tyre model based on Wave Guide Finite Elements is used in connection with a contact model validated in previous work. With these tools the tyre vibrations during rolling on an ISO surface are simulated. Starting from the calculated contact forces in time the amplitudes of the modes excited during rolling are determined as function of frequency. A boundary element model also validated in previous work is applied to predict the sound pressure level on a reference surface around a tyre placed on rigid ground as function of the modal composition of the tyre vibrations. Taking into account different modes when calculating the vibrational field as input into the boundary element calculations, it is possible to identify individual modes or groups of modes of special relevance for the radiated sound power. The results show that mainly low-order modes with relative low amplitudes but high radiation efficiency in the frequency range around 1 kHz are responsible for the radiated sound power at these frequencies, while those modes which are most strongly excited in that frequency range during rolling are irrelevant for the radiated sound power. This fact is very essential when focusing on the design of quieter tyres.  相似文献

Based on the close proximity (CPX) method specified in ISO/DIS 11819-2, we recorded and analyzed the instantaneous tyre/road sound pressure levels with 9 road sections that are constructed with the same pavement surfacing materials, that is, friction course. A total of 1320 segments were made in urban areas with a pair of SRTT (Standard Road Test Tyre). We tried to relate the tyre/road noise with the instantaneous acceleration, speed, air temperature, road temperature, road gradient, road surface age to develop a multi-variants model. It was subsequently found that a simple tyre/road noise model linking driving speed and acceleration is the best model. The model provides an easy way to estimate the instantaneous tyre/road noise level. As the tyre/road noise is becoming more dominant component of the road traffic noise, our proposed model has the potential to improve the current practice in estimating the road traffic noise.  相似文献

Simulation programs may be useful tools for controlling an environmental noise. The computer simulation program PROP11 that enables predictions of the time-average sound level within an urban system is used here. A roadway as a noise source is represented by a sum of the sound exposures due to individual vehicle pass-bys. Different representations of equivalent point sources for various classes of vehicles are allowed including directivity characteristics other than omnidirectional. Propagation throughout an urban system contains multi-reflections from the walls and single and double diffraction at their edges. In this paper, the PROP11 program is used to predict the sound level between opposing façades of buildings in a canyon street. A multi-lane road is assumed to contain two classes of vehicles (light and heavy) ones. The equivalent source representing vehicles is defined by the source power spectrum, its position above the ground and directivity characteristics. The consequences of introducing equivalent source directivity are analyzed.  相似文献

The elaboration of the method of control of noise generated by moving road vehicles has been made possible by using previous measurements of external noise produced by each of those particular vehicles. The results have made it possible to lay down the requirements for the design of specialised instrumentation capable of making such measurements. The advantage of this development is that it makes it possible for inexperienced technical staff to obtain the required acoustic measurements. The previously employed methods of noise prediction have required preceisely defined measuring conditions at the measuring site. The measurements, besides being laborious and time-consuming, give little information concerning the technical condition of the vehicle. On the contrary, with the method presented in this paper it is possible to measure not only the sound pressure level of the general external noise of the vehicle but also the band levels in the two frequency bands which are characteristic of the working engine at a definite speed of rotation, thus giving a preliminary estimation of the vehicle's noisiness. Defining the limiting values for noise level and band levels will enable excessively noisy vehicles to be eliminated.The results of measurements obtained with the above technique for various groups of vehicles are presented in this paper.  相似文献

It is very important to predict the radiated noise from the engine intake system for the effective noise control and virtual prototyping of in-cavity and outdoor noise of a vehicle. To this end, one should precisely measure the in-duct acoustic source parameters of the intake system, viz., source strength and source impedance. Usually, the noise radiation characteristics need to be expressed as a function of engine speed. In this study, acoustic source parameters of an engine intake system under engine run-up condition were measured by using the direct method. Direct method employed two external loudspeakers, turned on simultaneously, and three microphones for the separation of upstream and downstream wave components. It was noted that the frequency spectra of source impedance hardly changes with the increase of engine speed. Utilizing this fact, source strength under the engine run-up condition was calculated by assuming invariant source impedance. Predicted insertion loss and radiated sound pressure level using the measured source parameters were compared with those of measured data and predicted data using several idealized source models, which have been adopted for the calculations. A reasonably good agreement was observed between measured sound spectra at the intake orifice and predicted one using the measured source data. It was shown that the source data obtained by the present method yielded a far better prediction accuracy than those by the idealized source models.  相似文献

A systematic procedure for developing speed correction factor to adjust measured tyre/road noise is proposed in this paper. The draft ISO/CD 11819-2 on the Close-Proximity method to measure tyre/road noise stipulates that speed correction is needed to convert the tyre/road noise level at the sampling speeds to that at the reference speeds. However, the ISO standard does not mention the exact methodology for developing the speed correction factor development, although it recommends local authorities to develop their own. In this study, the tyre/road noise and speed data over 59 runs on a high speed porous asphalt surface is recorded by our CPX trailer in Hong Kong. The instantaneous noise and speed data are then analysed using this proposed procedure and the set of speed correction factor developed is found to be more stable and repeatable.  相似文献

The acoustic signatures produced by a full-scale, Bell 430 helicopter during steady-level-flight and transient roll-right maneuvers are analyzed by way of time–frequency analysis. The roll-right maneuvers comprise both a medium and a fast roll rate. Data are acquired using a single ground based microphone that are analyzed by way of the Morlet wavelet transform to extract the spectral properties and sound pressure levels as functions of time. The findings show that during maneuvering operations of the helicopter, both the overall sound pressure level and the blade–vortex interaction sound pressure level are greatest when the roll rate of the vehicle is at its maximum. The reduced inflow in the region of the rotor disk where blade–vortex interaction noise originates is determined to be the cause of the increase in noise. A local decrease in inflow reduces the miss distance of the tip vortex and thereby increases the BVI noise signature. Blade loading and advance ratios are also investigated as possible mechanisms for increased sound production, but are shown to be fairly constant throughout the maneuvers.  相似文献
