The binding properties of the cone conformer of O,O,O,O-tetrakis[hydrazinocarbonylmethyl]-4-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, the cone and the 1,3-alternate conformers of the corresponding thia analogue have been evaluated by means of liquid–liquid extraction for a large variety of metal ions. The extraction constants and the stoichiometries of the complexes formed have been determined. Comparison of the extraction properties of calix[4]arenes with their acyclic monomeric analogue clearly demonstrated, that the preorganization of acetylhydrazide groups on the calix[4]arene platform is the cause for a significant improvement of its binding properties. The presence of additional “soft” nitrogen binding sites in acetylhydrazide derivatives of calix[4]arenes compared to their amide derivatives leads to a shift from their classical selectivity for alkali and alkaline earth cations to transition metals. The cone conformer of tetrathiacalix[4]arene shows higher selectivity in a series of d-metal ions compared with its “classical” analogue. The 1,3-alternate conformer exhibits an excellent extraction selectivity for Cu2+ and Hg2+.  相似文献

Two calix[4]arene derivatives, in the partial cone conformation, with sulfur-containing functionalities, were tested as neutral carrier ionophores in potentiometric silver-selective electrodes of conventional membrane and membrane-coated glassy carbon electrode types. Comparison with a calix[4]arene in the cone conformation was made. The membranes were prepared using either 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether or bis(ethylhexyl)sebacate as plasticizers and potassium tetrakis(p-chlorophenyl)borate as the lipophilic salt in a poly(vinyl chloride) matrix. Both calix[4]arenes yielded electrodes of good sensitivity (approx. 47 mV dec−1) in the range 10−4–10−1 M and excellent selectivity [log KAg,MH+ < −1.5] of transition, alkali and heavy metal cations, including sodium, mercury(II) and lead(II) cations. Temperature effects and reproducibility of response were determined and the interfering effects of mercury(II) and lead (II) ions on the membranes were noted. The partial cone conformation allows improved selectivity over certain cations relative to calix[4]arenes in the cone conformation.  相似文献

Four cone calix[4]arene-1,2-crown ethers each with two ionisable side arms containing dansyl groups are synthesised. The crown ether ring on the lower rim is varied from crown-4 to crown-5 with hydrogen or tert-butyl groups on the para position of the upper rim. Di(tetramethylammonium) salts of the di-ionised ligands are utilised for spectrofluorimetric titration experiments in MeCN. The influence of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and selected transition and heavy metal (Co2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Mn2+, Pb2+, Zn2+ and Fe3+) cations on the spectroscopic properties of the two dansyl groups linked to the lower rim of the conformationally locked, di-ionised calix[4]arene-1,2-crown ether frameworks is investigated by emission spectrophotometry. All of the metal cations induce red shifts in the emission spectra of the di-ionised ligands. The metal cations produce enhancement or quenching of the fluorescence emissions. Changes in the fluorescence emission as a function of the metal cation identity, the lower rim crown ether ring size and the absence or presence of upper rim tert-butyl groups are investigated.  相似文献

The influence of Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+, Ag+, Cd2+, Co2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Mn2+, Pb2+, Zn2+ and Fe3+ on the spectroscopic properties of two dansyl (1-dimethylaminonaphthalene-5-sulfonyl) groups linked to the lower rims of a series of three, structurally related, di-ionized calix[4]arenes is investigated by means of absorption and emission spectrophotometry. Di(tetramethylammonium) salts of the di-ionized ligands, L, L1, and L2, which differ in having no, two and four allyl groups, respectively, on the upper rim of the calix[4]arene scaffold, are utilized for the spectrofluorimetric titration experiments in MeCN. On complexation by alkaline earth metal cations, the emission spectra undergo marked red shifts and quenching of the dansyl fluorescence. These effects are weaker with alkali metal cations. Transition metal cations and Pb2+ interact strongly with the ligands. In particular, Fe3+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ cause greater than 99% quenching of the dansyl fluorescence.  相似文献

New podands based on the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene unit with substitution at the lower rim incorporating imine units, have been synthesized in high yield by simple condensation method. These podands have been shown to extract and transport Ag+ selectively over alkali, alkaline earth metal cations, Zn2+, Pb2+ and Hg2+ ions, from neutral aqueous phase to organic phase. In all the ligands the calix unit has been found to be present in a cone conformation except for the one having pyridine as end group, at the ortho position. It has been isolated in two conformations; cone and 1,2-alternate. To the best of our knowledge, this may be the first 1,3-lower rim substituted calix[4]arene to exist in a 1,2-alternate conformation and is among a few known compounds with this conformation in the general class of calix[4]arenes. A complex of this ligand, which happens to be the highest extractant of Ag+ has been isolated and characterized using mass, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy's and elemental analysis. The spectroscopic evidence and molecular modelling studies performed on the complex suggest a participation of the imine and pyridine nitrogens and two of the ether oxygens in coordination to the metal ion. The X-ray crystal structures of three of the ligands establish the formation of inclusion complexes with polar acetonitrile solvent molecules. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of all the compounds, taken in CDCl3, show the presence of acetonitrile molecules in the cavity of the calix[4]arene, indicating inclusion of the neutral guest molecules in the solution phase as well. For one of the podands X-ray crystal structure has shown a formation of clatharate complex of chloroform with the ligand which has rarely been found in the case of calix[4]arenes.  相似文献

This is the first report on the synthesis and characterization of tetra-1,3-diketone derivatives of tetrthia- and calix[4]arenes substituted by acetylacetonyl or dipivaloylmethanyl moieties at the upper rim and bearing hydroxyl groups at the lower rim as ligands for Tb3+ complexes. The spatial structure and tautomeric content for the synthesized ligands have been determined by means of X-ray, IR and NMR spectroscopy. Comparison of the sensitizing properties of tetrathiacalix[4]arenes and their calix[4]arene analogues on the Tb3+-centered luminescence in DMF solutions has been performed. A substantial enhancement of the luminescent properties of Tb3+- complexes with tetra-1,3-diketone ligands promoted by the tetrathiacalix[4]arene scaffold was established.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations at the HF/6-31G(d) level of theory were performed on a series of thiacalix[4]arenes and calix[6]arenes in presence and in absence of monovalent (Li+, Na+ and Cs+) and divalent cations (Ca2+ and Ba2+) respectively, in order to evaluate their particular bonding properties as host systems towards electrically charged species. NBO, as well as NBO deletion calculations were undertaken to evaluate the energy difference in the circular hydrogen bonding at the lower rim once an ion was placed inside the cavity. Disruption of this H-bonded system is dependent on the position of the ion within the guest and not on its ionic ratio. The basis set superposition error and the NBO deletion energy between the host and guest species were calculated in order to assess the interaction energy between them.  相似文献

Abstract

The development of new synthetic methods for the monoalkylation of calix[4]arenes at the lower rim allows the synthesis of a new class of trihydroxamate siderophores. Three chelating hydroxamic acid units are introduced through a sequence of reactions which blocks the macrocycle in the cone conformation. The new ligands obtained form neutral 1:1 complexes (FeL) with iron (III), which are stable in EtOH/H2O 9:1 at pH 2–7. Calix[4]arene bis-crown ethers are prepared by exploiting the selective 1,2-(proximal) functionalization of calix[4]arenes at the lower rim. These ligands are, however, less effective in complexing alkali metal cations compared with the 1,3-calix[4]arene crown-ethers which, in their partial cone structure, offer a better shielding for the complexed cations. Rigid upper rim-bridged calix[4]arenes potentially useful for the inclusion of neutral molecules are prepared by exploiting the selective 1,3-diformylation of calix[4]arene at the upper rim. Finally a new chloromethylation method for calix[4]arenes blocked in the cone conformation is described together with the synthesis of new cavitands.  相似文献

Calix[4]arenes possessing electron-donating groups (OH and OR) at the lower rim when reacted with tosylated polyethers under basic conditions give the corresponding 1,3-disubstituted calix[4]arene-crown ethers 2a–2h, in good yields. The binding properties of the synthesized 1,3-bridged calix[4]arene-crown ethers for alkali metal cations have been investigated by atomic emission spectrometric analysis. It has been observed that recognition of sodium and potassium varies with the size of the polyether chain as well as the substituents on the free phenolics of the calix[4]arene-crown ether. The potassium/sodium selectivity seems to be governed primarily by the size of the crown ring, relative hydrophobicity and cation-π interaction capability to give efficiency order as 2a, 2d?>?2?h?>?2c, 2e?>?2b, 2f?>?2?g.  相似文献

Silica gel-immobilized, di-ionizable calix[4]arenes are employed as stationary phases in ion-exchange chromatography for selected heavy metal ions. Sorption efficiencies for Pb2+ are dependent on the structure of the calix[4]arene ligand and the linker that joins the ligand to the silica gel, as well as the acidity of the sample solution. Although the resins exhibit only poor sorption of Cd2+, they are found to be scavengers for Hg2+. Competitive sorption studies are conducted with selected resins.  相似文献

Novel p-tert-butyl thiacalix[4]arenes functionalized with hydrazide groups at the lower rim in cone, partial cone and 1,3-alternate conformations were synthesized and their receptor properties toward metal ions of p- (Al3+, Pb2+) and d- (Fe3+, Co3+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Ag+, Cd2+) elements were investigated by picrate extraction and dynamic light scattering (DLS). It was shown that the p-tert-butyl thiacalix[4]arenes functionalized with hydrazide groups are effective extractants of soft metal cations. The complex stoichiometry depended on the receptor configuration. All the p-tert-butyl thiacalix[4]arene derivatives with hydrazide fragments were able to form nanoscale aggregates but did not show self-association abilities.  相似文献

Two series of di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-5 isomers in the cone conformation are synthesized to probe the effect of the pendant acidic group location on their metal ion extraction properties. In one series, the ionizable groups are attached to the lower rim of the calix[4]arene scaffold, which orients them near the crown ether cavity. In the second series, the ionizable groups are connected to the upper rim positioning them away from the crown ether ring, but close to the hydrophobic pocket of the calix[4]arene unit. The metal ion extraction behaviors of the two series of ligands are compared in extractions of alkaline earth metal cations, Hg2+, and Pb2+.  相似文献

The conformational inversion characteristics of calix[4]arenes carrying cyanomethyl groups on the lower rim have been investigated. Complete conversion from a 1,3-alternate to a partial cone conformation was observed for the 1,3-dicyanomethyl ether of calix[4]arene at room temperature, while at higher temperatures further inversion to a 1:1 mixture of partial cone and cone conformers occurred.  相似文献

Partial etherification of phenolic-OH groups of calix[4]arenes with various alkyl halides/tosylates and K2CO3 under microwave irradiation afforded 1,3-dialkoxycalix[4]arenes in their cone conformation only as predominant/sole product in good yields (71–85%). The protocol was found to be much superior to conventional heating both in terms of yield and reaction time. Some of the 1,3-dialkoxycalix[4]arenes were elaborated further to the syntheses of cesium selective calix[4]crown-6 ionophores.  相似文献

The synthesis and properties of upperrim Schiff base calix[4]arenes are described in thisarticle. Tetrakis-p-bromomethylcalix[4]arene(1) reacts with hexamethylenetetramine to givetetrakis-p-formylcalix[4]arene (2) in highyield. Then upper rim Schiff base calix[4]arenes 3 can be easily synthesized by 2 reacting withappropriate alkylamines. The complexation ability of3 toward transition metals Pb2+, Cu2+and Co2+ was studied by UV-VIS spectrophotometry.  相似文献

New de-tert-butyltetrathiacalix[4]arenes with acetylhydrazide substituents in cone and 1,3-alternate conformations have been synthesised with good yield by the hydrazinolysis of calix[4]arene ester derivatives. The recognition ability of synthesised macrocycles towards transition and alkali metals has been investigated by the picrate extraction method. The stoichiometry of complexes and the extraction constants have been determined. It has been found that tetrahydrazides do not extract alkali metal ions, but show an excellent affinity towards transition and heavy metal cations. The 1,3-alternate conformer of de-tert-butyltetrathiacalix[4]arene has revealed a remarkable selectivity for Ni2+ and Ag+ in the row of d-elements and for Cd2+ ion among the toxic heavy metals. The experimental data show that the removal of tert-butyl groups from tetrathiacalix[4]arene framework leads to the drastic improvement of extraction efficiency and selectivity of new tetrahydrazides.  相似文献

Upper rim-functionalized, di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-6 ligands are synthesized and compared with structural isomers having the two acidic side arms attached to the lower rim. Solvent extractions of selected divalent metal cations (alkaline earth metal cations, Pb2+, and Hg2+) from aqueous solutions into chloroform by the upper and lower rim-functionalized, di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-6 isomers are utilized to assess the effects of this structural modification on metal ion complexation abilities of the ligands. The observed effects are compared with those reported for analogous di-ionizable calix[4]arene-crown-5 structural isomers.  相似文献

By using a convergence approach two new poly(aryl ether) dendritic structures carrying 4-fluorobenzyl bromide on the surface and calix[4]arenes as a core with G1 were synthesized for the first time. Fluorinated dendritic structures are connected through ether bonds on the lower rim of the calix[4]arene unit. Its structure was determined by 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. The thermal stabilities of fluorinated dendritic structures, based on calix[4]arenes, were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. The activation energies and thermal degradation of the structures were calculated with the Ozawa Method.  相似文献
