The cutwidth problem for a graph G is to embed G into a path such that the maximum number of overlap edges is minimized. This paper presents an approach based on the degree sequence of G for determining the exact value of cutwidth of typical graphs (e. g. , n-cube,cater-pillars). Relations between the cutwidth and other graph-theoretic parameters are studied as well.  相似文献

For a graph G =(V,E),a subset VS is a dominating set if every vertex in V is either in S or is adjacent to a vertex in S.The domination number γ(G) of G is the minimum order of a dominating set in G.A graph G is said to be domination vertex critical,if γ(G-v) γ(G) for any vertex v in G.A graph G is domination edge critical,if γ(G ∪ e) γ(G) for any edge e ∈/E(G).We call a graph G k-γ-vertex-critical(resp.k-γ-edge-critical) if it is domination vertex critical(resp.domination edge critical) and γ(G) = k.Ananchuen and Plummer posed the conjecture:Let G be a k-connected graph with the minimum degree at least k+1,where k 2 and k≡|V|(mod 2).If G is 3-γ-edge-critical and claw-free,then G is k-factor-critical.In this paper we present a proof to this conjecture, and we also discuss the properties such as connectivity and bicriticality in 3-γ-vertex-critical claw-free graph.  相似文献

For integers k0,r0,a(k,r)-coloring of a graph G is a proper k-coloring of the vertices such that every vertex of degree d is adjacent to vertices with at least min{d,r}diferent colors. The r-hued chromatic number, denoted byχr(G),is the smallest integer k for which a graph G has a(k,r)-coloring.Define a graph G is r-normal,ifχr(G)=χ(G).In this paper,we present two sufcient conditions for a graph to be 3-normal,and the best upper bound of 3-hued chromatic number of a certain families of graphs.  相似文献

An acyclic edge coloring of a graph is a proper edge coloring such that every cycle contains edges of at least three distinct colors. The acyclic chromatic index of a graph G,denoted by a′(G),is the minimum number k such that there is an acyclic edge coloring using k colors. It is known that a′(G)≤16△for every graph G where △denotes the maximum degree of G.We prove that a′(G)13.8△for an arbitrary graph G.We also reduce the upper bounds of a′(G)to 9.8△and 9△with girth 5 and 7,respectively.  相似文献

A star coloring of an undirected graph G is a proper coloring of G such that no path of length 3 in G is bicolored. The star chromatic number of an undirected graph G,denoted by χs(G),is the smallest integer k for which G admits a star coloring with k colors. In this paper,we show that if G is a graph with maximum degree △,then χs(G) ≤ [7△3/2],which gets better bound than those of Fertin,Raspaud and Reed.  相似文献

A strong edge coloring of a graph is a proper edge coloring where the edges at distance at most 2 receive distinct colors. The strong chromatic index χ'_s(G) of a graph G is the minimum number of colors used in a strong edge coloring of G. In an ordering Q of the vertices of G, the back degree of a vertex x of G in Q is the number of vertices adjacent to x, each of which has smaller index than x in Q. Let G be a graph of maximum degree Δ and maximum average degree at most 2 k. Yang and Zhu [J. Graph Theory, 83, 334–339(2016)] presented an algorithm that produces an ordering of the edges of G in which each edge has back degree at most 4 kΔ-2 k in the square of the line graph of G, implying that χ'_s(G) ≤ 4 kΔ-2 k + 1. In this note, we improve the algorithm of Yang and Zhu by introducing a new procedure dealing with local structures. Our algorithm generates an ordering of the edges of G in which each edge has back degree at most(4 k-1)Δ-2 k in the square of the line graph of G, implying that χ'_s(G) ≤(4 k-1)Δ-2 k + 1.  相似文献

A total k-coloring of a graph G is a coloring of V(G) ∪ E(G) using k colors such that no two adjacent or incident elements receive the same color. The total chromatic number χ〃(G) is the smallest integer k such that G has a total k-coloring.In this paper,it is proved that the total chromatic number of any graph G embedded in a surface Σ of Euler characteristic χ(Σ)≥0 is Δ(G) + 1 if Δ(G)≥10,where Δ(G) denotes the maximum degree of G.  相似文献

For positive integers j and k with j ≥ k, an L(j, k)-labeling of a graph G is an assignment of nonnegative integers to V(G) such that the difference between labels of adjacent vertices is at least j, and the difference between labels of vertices that are distance two apart is at least k. The span of an L(j, k)-labeling of a graph G is the difference between the maximum and minimum integers it uses. The λj, k-number of G is the minimum span taken over all L(j, k)-labelings of G. An m-(j, k)-circular labeling of a graph G is a function f : V(G) →{0, 1, 2,..., m - 1} such that |f(u) - f(v)|m ≥ j if u and v are adjacent; and |f(u) - f(v)|m 〉 k ifu and v are at distance two, where |x|m = min{|xl|, m-|x|}. The minimum integer m such that there exists an m-(j, k)-circular labeling of G is called the σj,k-number of G and is denoted by σj,k(G). This paper determines the σ2,1-number of the Cartesian product of any three complete graphs.  相似文献

ON 3-CHOOSABILITY OF PLANE GRAPHS WITHOUT 6-,7- AND 9-CYCLES   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The choice number of a graph G,denoted by X1(G),is the minimum number k such that if a list of k colors is given to each vertex of G,there is a vertex coloring of G where each vertex receives a color from its own list no matter what the lists are. In this paper,it is showed that X1 (G)≤3 for each plane graph of girth not less than 4 which contains no 6-, 7- and 9-cycles.  相似文献

INDEPENDENT-SET-DELETABLE FACTOR-CRITICAL POWER GRAPHS   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
It is said that a graph G is independent-set-deletable factor-critical (in short, ID-factor-critical), if, for every independent set 7 which has the same parity as |V(G)|, G-I has a perfect matching. A graph G is strongly IM-extendable, if for every spanning supergraph H of G, every induced matching of H is included in a perfect matching of H. The k-th power of G, denoted by Gk, is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if they have distance at most k in G. ID-factor-criticality and IM-extendability of power graphs are discussed in this article. The author shows that, if G is a connected graph, then G3 and T(G) (the total graph of G) are ID-factor-critical, and G4 (when |V(G)| is even) is strongly IM-extendable; if G is 2-connected, then D2 is ID-factor-critical.  相似文献

A total k-coloring of a graph G is a coloring of V(G) ∪ E(G) using k colors such that no two adjacent or incident elements receive the same color. The total chromatic number χ'(G) is the smallest integer k such that G has a total k-coloring. It is known that if a planar graph G has maximum degree Δ≥ 9, then χ'(G) = Δ + 1. In this paper, we prove that if G is a planar graph with maximum degree 8 and without a fan of four adjacent 3-cycles, then χ'(G) = 9.  相似文献

Let G be a nontrivial connected and vertex-colored graph. A subset X of the vertex set of G is called rainbow if any two vertices in X have distinct colors. The graph G is called rainbow vertex-disconnected if for any two vertices x and y of G, there exists a vertex subset S of G such that when x and y are nonadjacent, S is rainbow and x and y belong to different components of G-S; whereas when x and y are adjacent, S + x or S + y is rainbow and x and y belong to different components of(G-xy)-S. For a connected graph G, the rainbow vertex-disconnection number of G, denoted by rvd(G), is the minimum number of colors that are needed to make G rainbow vertexdisconnected. In this paper, we characterize all graphs of order n with rainbow vertex-disconnection number k for k ∈ {1, 2, n}, and determine the rainbow vertex-disconnection numbers of some special graphs. Moreover, we study the extremal problems on the number of edges of a connected graph G with order n and rvd(G) = k for given integers k and n with 1 ≤ k ≤ n.  相似文献

Let D be a digraph. The competition graph of D is the graph having the same vertex set with D and having an edge joining two different vertices if and only if they have at least one common out-neighbor in D.The phylogeny graph of D is the competition graph of the digraph constructed from D by adding loops at all vertices. The competition/phylogeny number of a graph is the least number of vertices to be added to make the graph a competition/phylogeny graph of an acyclic digraph. In this paper,we show that for any integer k there is a connected graph such that its phylogeny number minus its competition number is greater than k.We get similar results for hypergraphs.  相似文献

A graph G is induced matching extendable if every induced matching of G is included in a perfect matching of G. A graph G is generalized induced matching extendable if every induced matching of G is included in a maximum matching of G. A graph G is claw-free, if G dose not contain any induced subgraph isomorphic to K1,3. The k-th power of G, denoted by Gu, is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if the distance between them is at most k in G. In this paper we show that, if the maximum matchings of G and G3 have the same cardinality, then G3 is generalized induced matching extendable. We also show that this result is best possible. As a result, we show that if G is a connected claw-flee graph, then G3 is generalized induced matching extendable.  相似文献

An edge e of a k-connected graph G is said to be a removable edge if G O e is still k-connected, where G O e denotes the graph obtained from G by the following way: deleting e to get G - e, and for any end vertex of e with degree k - 1 in G - e, say x, deleting x, and then adding edges between any pair of non-adjacent vertices in NG-e (x). The existence of removable edges of k-connected graphs and some properties of k-connected graphs have been investigated. In the present paper, we investigate the distribution of removable edges on a spanning tree of a k-connected graph (k ≥ 4).  相似文献

A bipartite graph on 2n vertices is called bipancyclicif it contains cycles of every even length 2k, for 2≤k≤n.
