We investigate the shape-preserving propagation of N optical pulses in an (N + 1)-level medium. We solve Maxwell-Schroedinger equations exactly and provide several types of explicit coupled soliton solutions, which are temporally amplitude- and group-velocity-matched multi-mode slow-optical pulses of the system.  相似文献

We demonstrate the efficient generation of ultraslow bright and dark optical solitons in a lifetime-broadened three-level atomic medium by using only a low-intensity pulsed laser radiation. We study the four-wave mixing (FWM) in an opening five-level system with two dressing fields. There axe three kinds of doubly dressing mechanisms (parallel cascade, sequential cascade, and nested cascade) in the system for doubly dressed four-wave mixing. These mechanisms reflect different correlations between two dressing fields and different effects of two dressing fields to the FWM. Investigation of these mechanisms is helpful to understand the generated high-order nonlinear optical signal dressed by multi-fields.  相似文献

Using Schroedinger-Maxwell formalism, we propose and analyse a continuous-wave four-wave mixing (FWM) scheme for the generation of coherent light in a five-state double-A atomic system with or without spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) based on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). We derive the corresponding explicit analytical expressions for the generated FWM field under the steady-state condition. The influence of hyperfine sublevel and SGC effect on the amplitude of the generated FWM field is predicted in detail via the derived analytical expressions. We also give a brief discussion on the experimental realization of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

A nonlinear optical four-wave mixing scheme is presented and analysed for the generation of coherent light ina nearly four-level ladder-type atomic system in the context of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT).We find that EIT can suppress nonlinear photon absorption and the peak of the generated mixing field is locatedat the centre of the transparency window where the loss is minimal, though there is a dip in the centre. Such anonlinear optical process can also be used for generating coherent short-wavelength radiation.  相似文献
