In general, the complexation and gelation behavior between biocompatible poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) derivatives and α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) is extensively studied in water, but not in organic solvents. In this article, the complexation and gelation behavior between α‐CD and multi‐arm polymer β‐cyclodextrin‐PCL (β‐CD‐PCL) with a unique “jellyfish‐like” structure are thoroughly investigated in organic solvent N,N‐dimethylformamide and a new heat‐induced organogel is obtained. However, PCL linear polymers cannot form organogels under the same condition. The complexation is characterized by rheological measurements, DSC, XRD, and SEM. The SEM images reveal that the complexes between β‐CD‐PCL and α‐CD present a novel topological helix porous structure which is distinctly different from the lamellar structure formed by PCL linear polymers and α‐CD, suggesting the unique “jellyfish‐like” structure of β‐CD‐PCL is crucial for the formation of the organogels. This research may provide insight into constructing new supramolecular organogels and potential for designing new functional biomaterials. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Oligo(3‐OH butyrate)‐β‐cyclodextrin esters (PHB‐CD) were obtained through ring opening of β‐butyrolactone (β‐BL) in the presence of β‐cyclodextrin (CD) and (‐)‐sparteine (SP) as nucleophilic activator. The resulted reaction mixture was first separated in two fractions and then investigated through a deep mass spectrometry (MS) study performed on a liquid chromatography‐electrospray ionization‐quadrupole time of flight (LC‐ESI‐QTOF) instrument. LC MS and tandem MS structural assignment of the reaction products was completed by NMR. The performed analysis revealed that poly(3‐OH butyrate) homopolymers (PHB) are formed together with the PHB‐CD products. Secondary reactions resulting in the formation of crotonates were also proved to occur. A comparison between MS and NMR results demonstrated that more than one PHB oligomer is attached to the CD in the PHB‐CD product. The tandem MS fragmentation studies validated the proposed structure of CD derivatives. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

β‐Cyclodextrin (β‐CD) was coupled to chitosan by the intermediate of its monochlorotriazinyl derivative, called βW7MCT, so that a chitosan derivative bearing cyclodextrin was obtained. Because the average degree of substitution of the cyclodextrin derivative was 2.8, the reaction yielded crosslinked insoluble products. The structure of these materials has been investigated by high‐resolution magic‐angle spinning (HRMAS) with gradients. For the first time, HRMAS spectra of chitosan polymers containing β‐CD were obtained. This NMR technique produced one‐ and two‐dimensional well‐resolved solid‐state spectra. These data confirm the proposed structure. Decontamination of waters containing textile dyes were carried out with the crosslinked derivatives. These tests showed that the new chitosan derivatives are characterized by a rate of sorption and a global efficiency superior to that of the parent chitosan polymer and of the well‐known cyclodextrin‐epichlorohydrin gels. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Molecular motions of single polycarbonate (PC) chains threaded into crystalline γ‐cyclodextrin (γ‐CD) channels were examined using solid‐state 13C NMR and molecular dynamics simulations. The location of PC within the channels was confirmed by spin diffusion from a PC 13C label to natural‐abundance 13C of the γ‐CD. Rotor‐encoded longitudinal magnetization (RELM) (under 7‐kHz magic‐angle sample‐spinning conditions) was combined with multiple‐pulse 1H‐1H dipolar decoupling to detect large‐amplitude phenyl‐ring motion in both bulk PC and polycarbonate γ‐cyclodextrin inclusion compound (PC‐γ‐CD). The RELM results indicate that the phenyl rings in PC‐γ‐CD undergo 180° flips faster than 10 kHz just as in bulk PC. The molecular dynamics simulations show that the frequency of the phenyl‐ring flips depends on the cooperative motions of PC atoms and neighboring atoms of the γ‐CD channel. The distribution of protonated aromatic‐carbon laboratory and rotating‐frame 13C spin‐lattice relaxation rates for bulk PC and PC‐γ‐CD are similar but not identical. The distributions for both systems arise from site heterogeneities. For bulk PC, the heterogeneity is attributed to variations in local chain packing, and for PC‐γ‐CD the heterogeneity arises from variations in the location of the PC phenyl rings in the γ‐CD channel. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Both star‐shaped poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) having 4 arms (4sPCL) and 6 arms (6sPCL) and linear PCL having 1 arm (LPCL) and 2 arms (2LPCL) were synthesized and then investigated for inclusion complexation with α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD). The supramolecular inclusion complexes (ICs) were in detail characterized by 1H NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, wide angle X‐ray diffraction, solid‐state carbon nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy using cross‐polarization and magic‐angle spinning, and Fourier transform infrared, respectively. The stoichiometry (CL:CD, mol:mol) of all ICs increased with the increasing branch arm of PCL polymers, and it was in the order of α‐CD‐6sPCL1 ICs > α‐CD‐4sPCL ICs > α‐CD‐2LPCL ICs > α‐CD‐LPCL ICs. All analyses indicated that the branch arms of star‐shaped PCL polymers were included into the hydrophobic α‐CD cavities and their original crystalline properties were completely suppressed. Moreover, the ICs of star‐shaped PCL with α‐CD had a channel‐type crystalline structure similar to that formed between the linear PCL and α‐CD. Furthermore, the thermal stability of the free PCL polymers probably controlled that of the guest polymers included in the ICs. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A well‐defined comblike copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide‐co‐glycidol) [(poly(EO‐co‐Gly)] as the main chain and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) as the side chain was successfully prepared by the combination of anionic polymerization and ring‐opening polymerization. The glycidol was protected by ethyl vinyl ether to form 2,3‐epoxypropyl‐1‐ethoxyethyl ether (EPEE) first, and then ethylene oxide was copolymerized with EPEE by an anionic mechanism. The EPEE segments of the copolymer were deprotected by formic acid, and the glycidol segments of the copolymers were recovered after saponification. Poly(EO‐co‐Gly) with multihydroxyls was used further to initiate the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of stannous octoate. When the grafted copolymer was mixed with α‐cyclodextrin, crystalline inclusion complexes (ICs) were formed, and the intermediate and final products, poly(ethylene oxide‐co‐glycidol)‐graft‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) and ICs, were characterized with gel permeation chromatography, NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, X‐ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis in detail. The obtained ICs had a channel‐type crystalline structure, and the ratio of ε‐caprolactone units to α‐cyclodextrin for the ICs was higher than 1:1. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new class of temperature and pH dual‐responsive and injectable supramolecular hydrogel was developed, which was formed from block copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly[(2‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PEG‐b‐PDMAEMA) and α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) inclusion complexes (ICs). The PEG‐b‐PDMAEMA diblock copolymers with different ratio of ethylene glycol (EG) to (2‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) (102:46 and 102:96, respectively) were prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). 1H NMR measurement indicated that the ratio of EG unit to α‐CD in the resulted ICs was higher than 2:1. Thermal analysis showed that thermal stability of ICs was improved. The rheology studies showed that the hydrogels were temperature and pH sensitive. Moreover, the hydrogels were thixotropic and reversible. The self‐assembly morphologies of the ICs in different pH and ionic strength environment were studied by transmission electron microscopy. The formed biocompatible micelles have potential applications as biomedical and stimulus‐responsive material. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A number of naphthalene donor compounds that possess an adamantanamine binding moiety and an (OCH2CH2)n (nn1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8) spacer were synthesized. The fluorescence quenching between these donor substrates and mono-6-O-p-nitrobenzoyl-β-cyclodextrin (pNBCD) and mono-6-O-m-nitrobenzoyl-β-cyclodextrin(mNBCD) was studied in detail. It was found that very efficient fluorescence quenching could occur in these supramolecular systems. This quenching was attributed to the photoinduced electron transfer inside the supramolecular assembly between the naphthalene donors and cyclodextrin acceptors. Detailed Stern-Volmer constants were measured and they were partitioned into dynamic Stern-Volmer quenching constants and static binding constants. It was demonstrated that the binding constants between all the naphthalene compounds and cyclodextrins are the same as they possess the same binding site, i.e., adamantanamine.  相似文献

Supramolecular inclusion complexes (ICs) involving polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) capped poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) and α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) were investigated. POSS‐terminated PCLs with various molecular weights were prepared via the ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone (CL) with 3‐hydroxypropylheptaphenyl POSS as an initiator. Because of the presence of the bulky silsesquioxane terminal group, the inclusion complexation between α‐CD and the POSS‐capped PCL was carried out only with a single end of a PCL chain threading inside the cavity of α‐CD, which allowed the evaluation of the effect of the POSS terminal groups on the efficiency of the inclusion complexation. The X‐ray diffraction results indicated that the organic–inorganic ICs had a channel‐type crystalline structure. The stoichiometry of the organic–inorganic ICs was quite dependent on the molecular weights of the POSS‐capped PCLs. With moderate molecular weights of the POSS‐capped PCLs (e.g., Mn =3860 or 9880), the stoichiometry was 1:1 mol/mol (CL unit/α‐CD), which was close to the literature value based on the inclusion complexation of α‐CD with normal linear PCL chains with comparable molecular weights. When the PCL chains were shorter (e.g., for the POSS‐capped PCL of Mn = 1720 or 2490), the efficiency of the inclusion complexation decreased. The decreased efficiency of the inclusion complexation could be attributed to the lower mobility of the bulky POSS group, which restricted the motion of the PCL chain attached to the silsesquioxane cage. This effect was pronounced with the decreasing length of the PCL chains. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 1247–1259, 2007  相似文献

The challenging synthesis of an α‐cyclodextrin (CD)‐based macromolecular rotaxane with definite structure was fulfilled using a size‐complementary method. A new peracetylated (PAc) α‐CD‐based size‐complementary [3]rotaxane was prepared and its thermal dissociation kinetics studied. The de‐slippage mechanism was found to be different from that of the native α‐CD‐based system. PAcα‐CD‐based size‐complementary [3]rotaxanes were employed as initiators for a ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone to obtain the macromolecular [3]rotaxanes. Detailed investigation of component dissociation showed the highly movable character of the wheel on the polymer main chain. A general method for controlling the movement of wheels in rotaxane frameworks, even in polymer systems, was established. This will enable the development of new supramolecular architectures and molecular machines.  相似文献

Organic–inorganic hybrid brushes comprised of macrocyclic oligomeric silsesquioxane (MOSS) and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) were synthesized via the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL) with cis‐hexa[(phenyl) (2‐hydroxyethylthioethyldimethylsiloxy)]cyclohexasiloxane as the initiator. The MOSS macromer bearing hydroxyl groups was synthesized via the thiol‐ene radical addition reaction between cis‐hexa[(phenyl)(vinyldimethylsiloxy)]cyclohexasiloxane and β‐mercaptoethanol. The organic–inorganic PCL cyclic brushes were characterized by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). These MOSS–PCL brushes were then used to prepare the supramolecular inclusion complexes with α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD). The X‐ray diffraction (XRD) indicates that the organic–inorganic inclusion complexes (ICs) have a channel‐type crystalline structure. It is noted that the molar ratios of CL unit to α‐CD for the organic–inorganic ICs are quite dependent on the lengths of the PCL chains bonded to the silsesquioxane macrocycle. While the PCL chains were short, the efficiency of inclusion complexation was significantly decreased. The decreased efficiency could be attributed to the repulsion of the adjacent PCL chains bonded to the silsesquioxane macrocycle and the restriction of the bulky silsesquioxane macrocycle on the motion of PCL chains; this effect is pronounced with decreasing the length of the PCL chains. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New random copolymers, poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone‐co‐mono‐6‐deoxy‐6‐methacrylate ethylamino‐β‐cyclodextrin) (PnvpCD) bearing pendent β‐cyclodextrin (CD) groups were synthesized. PnvpCD formed soluble graft‐like polymer complex with adamantane (AD) end‐capped poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PclAD) in their common solvent N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone driven by the inclusion interactions between the CD and AD groups. The formation of the graft complex has been confirmed by viscometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and isothermal titration calorimeter. The graft complex self‐assembled further into noncovalently connected micelles in water, which is a selective solvent for the main chain PnvpCD. Transmission electron microscopy, DLS, and atomic force microscopy have been used to investigate the structure and morphology of the resultant micelles. A unique “multicore” structure of the micelles, in which small PclAD domains scattered within the micelles, was obtained under nonequilibrium conditions in the preparation. However, the micelles prepared in a condition close to equilibrium possess an ordinary core‐shell structure. In both cases, the core and shell are believed to be connected by the AD‐CD inclusion complexation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 4267–4278, 2009  相似文献

A new anhydro disaccharide monomer, 1,6‐anhydro‐2,3‐di‐o‐benzyl‐4‐o‐(2′,3′,4′,6′‐tetra‐o‐benzyl‐β‐D ‐galactopyranosyl)‐β‐D ‐glucopyranose (benzylated 1,6‐anhydro lactose (LSHBE)), was synthesized from D ‐lactose to investigate the polymerizability and biological activities of the resulting branched polysaccharides. The ring‐opening polymerization of LSHBE was carried out with phosphorus pentafluoride as a catalyst under high vacuum to give a stereoregular benzylated (1 → 6)‐α‐D ‐lactopyranan. The molecular weights of poly(LSHBE)s increased with an increase in the amount of CH2Cl2 solvent, and polymerization temperatures were affected in both molecular weights and yields of the polymers. The copolymerization of LSHBE with benzylated 1,6‐anhydro‐β‐D ‐glucopyranose (LGTBE) gave the corresponding copolysacchrides having different proportions of lactose and glucose units in good yields. After debenzylation to recover hydroxyl groups and then sulfation, sulfated homopoly(lactose)s and copoly(lactose and glucose)s were obtained. Sulfated homopoly(lactose)s had moderate anti‐HIV (EC50 = 5.9 and 1.3 μg/mL) and blood anticoagulant activities (AA = 18 and 13 unit/mg), respectively. Sulfated copoly(lactose and glucose) having 15 mol % lactose units gave high anti‐HIV and blood anticoagulant activities of 0.3 μg/mL and 54 unit/mg, respectively. These biological results suggest that the distance between branched units on the main chain plays an important role in the anti‐HIV and blood anticoagulant activities. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A helical inclusion complex polymer was fabricated through the polymerization of β‐cyclodextrin‐threaded chiral monomers. The photo induced polymerization of inclusion complex clusters caused shrinkage of the polymer and decreased the pitches, leading to the disappearance of spring‐like construction under TEM. From the results of circular dichroism of the inclusion complex polymer, the helical construction was confirmed, and an entanglement of the polymer chains is proposed. After removal of the β‐cyclodextrins from the pendant groups of the inclusion complex polymer, the helical structure was found to be maintained. The highly ordered molecular arrangement of β‐cyclodextrins removed from the inclusion complex polymer was confirmed using POM. Here we demonstrate the fabrication of helical polymer fibers composed of entangled polymers through self‐assembled β‐cyclodextrin‐threaded chiral monomers. The helical polymer construction was maintained by the entwisted polymer chains even after the removal of β‐cyclodextrins from the pendant groups of the inclusion complex polymer. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Photoirradiation surface molecularly imprinted polymers for the separation of 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin were synthesized using functionalized silica as a matrix, 4‐(phenyldiazenyl)phenol as a light‐sensitive monomer, and 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin as a template. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy results indicated that 4‐(phenyldiazenyl)phenol was grafted onto the surface of functionalized silica. The obtained imprinted polymers exhibited specific recognition toward 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin. Equilibrium binding experiments showed that the photoirradiation surface molecularly imprinted polymers obtained the maximum adsorption amount of 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin at 20.5 mg/g. In binding kinetic experiments, the adsorption reached saturation within 2 h with binding capacity of 72.8%. The experimental results showed that the adsorption capacity and selectivity of imprinted polymers were effective for the separation of 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin, indicating that imprinted polymers could be used to isolate 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin from a conversion mixture containing β‐cyclodextrin and maltose. The results showed that the imprinted polymers prepared by this method were very promising for the selective separation of 6‐O‐α‐d ‐maltosyl‐β‐cyclodextrin.  相似文献

Ibuprofen (Ibu) and β‐cyclodextrin (βCD) and its derivative (hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin, HPβCD) complexes spatial geometry information were studyed. Firstly, phase solubility experiment was carried out for S‐(+)‐ibuprofen (SIbu) and cyclodextrins complex. The apparent stability constant (Kc) for 1:1 complexes are 1065 M‐1 (βCD) and 1476 M‐1 (HPβCD) respectively. Secondly, 1H NMR and two‐dimensional rotating‐frame overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D ROESY) were used for binding study, and confirmed that benzene ring of Ibu is deeply included into the cavity and racemic Ibu (RSIbu) can be discriminated by βCD or HPβCD. Finally, docking model was given by theoretical investigation. The model with ‐4.77 kcal/mol binding energy matches experimental structure.  相似文献

A poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(L ‐lysine) diblock copolymer (PEG‐b‐PLL) was synthesized. Micellization of this hydrophilic copolymer due to the block‐specific threading of α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) molecules onto the polyethylene glycol (PEG) block yielded supramolecular‐structured nanoparticles, which undergoes pH‐inducible gelation in aqueous media. The pH‐inducible gelation of supramolecular micelle in water appeared to be completely reversible upon pH changes. The synergetic effect of selective complexation between PEG block and α‐CD and the pH‐inducible hydrophobic interaction between PLL blocks at pH 10 was believed to be the driving force for the formation of the supramolecular hydrogel. 1H NMR and wide angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD) were employed to confirm the inclusion complexation between α‐CD and PEG block. Meanwhile, the morphology of the micellized nanoparticles was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermal stability of inclusion complexes (ICs) was investigated and the rheologic experiment was conducted to reveal the micelle‐gel transition. Such pH‐induced reversible micelle‐gel transition of the supramolecular aggregates may find applications in several fields, for example as advanced biomedical material possessing stimulus‐responsiveness. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel hexa‐armed and star‐shaped polymer containing cholesterol end‐capped poly(ε‐caprolactone) arms emanating from a phosphazene core (N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6) was synthesized by a combination of ring‐opening polymerization and “click” chemistry techniques. For this purpose, the terminal ? OH groups of the synthesized precursor (N3P3‐(PCL‐OH)6) were converted into Chol through a series of reaction. Both N3P3‐(PCL‐OH)6 and N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 were then employed in the preparation of supramolecular inclusion complexes (ICs) with β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD). The latter formed ICs with β‐CD in higher yield. The host–guest stoichiometry (ε‐CL:β‐CD, mol:mol) in the ICs of N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 was found to be 1.2. The formation of supramolecular ICs of N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 with β‐CD was confirmed by using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic methods, wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD), and thermal analysis techniques. WAXD data showed that the obtained ICs with N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 had a channel‐type crystalline structure, indicating the suppression of the original crystallization of N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 in β‐CD cavities. Moreover, the thermal stabilities of ICs were found to be higher than those of the free star polymer and β‐CD. Furthermore, the surface properties of N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 and its ICs with β‐CD were investigated by static contact angle measurements. The obtained results proved that the wettability of N3P3‐(PCL‐Chol)6 successfully increased with the formation of its ICs with β‐CD. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A straightforward synthesis of amphiphilic β‐cyclodextrin‐poly(4‐acryloylmorpholine) (β‐CD‐PACM) polymers of controlled molecular weight, consisting of the radical polymerization of 4‐acryloylmorpholine in the presence of 6‐deoxy‐6‐mercapto‐β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD‐SH) as chain‐transfer agent, has been established. These derivatives carry a single β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) moiety at one terminus and their average molecular weight is in the order of 104. Thus, their β‐CD content is ~ 10% by weight. No evidence of un‐functionalized PACM was found in the final products. The chain‐transfer constant (CT) of β‐CD‐SH was found to be 1.30 by independently determining the reaction constants of both chain‐transfer and propagation reactions. This ensures that the molecular weight, hence the β‐CD content of the polymers, does not significantly vary with conversion. These β‐CD‐PACM polymers are highly soluble in water as well as in several organic solvents such as chloroform and lower alcohols. They proved capable of solubilizing in water poorly soluble drugs such as 9‐[(2‐hydroxyethoxy)methyl]guanine (Acyclovir) and of gradually releasing them in aqueous systems. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The α,ω‐end‐capped poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) (Cn‐POXZ‐Cn) have been synthesized by a one‐pot process using cationic ring‐opening polymerization with an appropriate initiator and terminating agent. The polymers bearing different alkyl groups C12 and C18 have molecular weight in the range of 2.4 × 103 to 14 × 103 with a small polydispersity index. The solution behavior of the free chains has been analyzed in a nonselective solvent, dichloromethane, by small‐angle neutron scattering and dynamic light scattering. These amphiphilic polymers associate in water to form flower‐like micellar structures. Critical micelle concentrations, investigated by fluorescence technique, are in the range of 0.03–0.5 g L?1 and are dependent on the hydrophilic/lipophilic balance. The structural properties of the aggregates have also been investigated by viscometry. Intrinsic viscosities of these polymers are in the same range as that of the precursors poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) (POXZ) and mono‐functionalized polymers. Large viscosity increase corresponding to intermicellar bridging was observed in the vicinity of the micelle overlap concentration. Addition of hydroxypropyl β‐cyclodextrin (HβCD) has dissociated the aggregates and the intrinsic viscosities of the HβCD‐end‐capped chains have become comparable with the ones of POXZ precursor chains. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
