This work describes the preparation and characterization of polypyrrole (PPy)/iron oxide nanocomposites fabricated from monodispersed iron oxide nanoparticles in the crystalline form of magnetite (Fe3O4) and PPy by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. Two spherical nanoparticles of magnetite, such as 4 and 8 nm, served as cores were first dispersed in an aqueous solution with anionic surfactant sodium bis(2‐ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate to form micelle/magnetite spherical templates that avoid the aggregation of magnetite nanoparticles during the further preparation of nanocomposites. The PPy/magnetite nanocomposites were then synthesized on the surface of the spherical templates. Structural and morphological analysis showed that the fabricated PPy/magnetite nanocomposites are core (magnetite)‐shell (PPy) structures. Morphology of the PPy/magnetite nanocomposites containing monodispersed 4‐nm magnetite nanoparticles shows a remarkable change from spherical to tube‐like structures as the content of nanoparticles increases from 12 to 24 wt %. Conductivities of these PPy/magnetite nanocomposites show significant enhancements when compared with those of PPy without magnetite nanoparticles, in particular the conductivities of 36 wt % PPy/magnetite nanocomposites with 4‐nm magnetite nanoparticles are about six times in magnitude higher than those of PPy without magnetite nanocomposites. These results suggest that the tube‐like structures of 36 wt % PPy/magnetite nanocomposites may be served as conducting network to enhance the conductivity of nanocomposites. The magnetic properties of 24 and 36 wt % PPy/magnetitenanocomposites show ferromagnetic behavior and supermagnetism, respectively. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study describes the preparation of a nanocomposites fabricated from monodispersed 4‐nm iron oxide (Fe3O4) coated on the surface of carboxylic acid containing multi‐walled carbon nanotube (c‐MWCNT) and polypyrrole (PPy) by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy images and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) data indicate that the resulting Fe3O4 nanoparticles synthesized using the thermal decomposition are close to spherical dots with a particle size about 4 ± 0.2 nm. The resulting nanoparticles were further mixed with c‐MWCNT in an aqueous solution containing with anionic surfactant sodium bis(2‐ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate to form one‐dimensional Fe3O4 coated c‐MWCNT template for further preparation of nanocomposite. Structural and morphological analysis using field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy, and XRD showed that the fabricated Fe3O4 coated c‐MWCNT/PPy nanocomposites are one‐dimensional core (Fe3O4 coated c‐MWCNT)‐shell (PPy) structures. The conductivities of these Fe3O4 coated c‐MWCNT/PPy nanocomposites are about four times higher than those of pure PPy matrix. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study describes the preparation of polypyrrole (PPy)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) composites by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. Various ratios of MWNTs, which served as hard templates, were first dispersed in aqueous solutions with the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide to form micelle/MWNT templates and overcome the difficulty of MWNTs dispersing into insoluble solutions of pyrrole monomer, and PPy was then synthesized via in situ chemical oxidative polymerization on the surface of the templates. Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the fabricated composites. Structural analysis using FESEM and HRTEM showed that the PPy/MWNT composites were core (MWNT)–shell (PPy) tubular structures. Raman and FTIR spectra of the composites were almost identical to those of PPy, supporting the idea that MWNTs served as the core in the formation of a coaxial nanostructure for the composites. The conductivities of these PPy/MWNT composites were about 150% higher than those of PPy without MWNTs. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 44: 1413–1418, 2006  相似文献

Conducting polypyrrole (PPy)‐montmorillonite (MMT) clay nanocomposites have been synthesized by the in situ intercalative polymerization method. The PPy‐MMT nanocomposites are characterized by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. XRD patterns show that after polymerization by the in situ intercalative method with ammonium persulfate and 1 M HCl, an increase in the basal spacing from 1.2 to 1.9 nm was observed, signifying that PPy is synthesized between the interlayer spaces of MMT. TEM and SEM micrographs suggest that the coexistence of intercalated MMT layers with the PPy macromolecules. FTIR reveals that there might be possible interfacial interactions present between the MMT clay and PPy matrix. The study also shows that the introduction of MMT clay results in thermal stability improvement of the PPy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 46: 2279–2285, 2008  相似文献

Several water‐soluble polymers were used as templates for the in situ polymerization of pyrrole to determine their effect on the generation of nanosized polypyrrole (PPy) particles. The polymers used include: polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyethylene oxide (PEO), poly(vinyl butyral), polystyrene sulfonic acid, poly(ethylene‐alt‐maleic anhydride) (PEMA), poly(octadecene‐alt‐maleic anhydride), poly(N‐vinyl pyrrolidone), poly(vinyl butyral‐co‐vinyl alcohol‐co‐vinyl acetate), poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide), poly(ethylene oxide‐block‐propylene oxide), hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, and guar gum. The oxidative polymerization of pyrrole was carried out with FeCl3 as an oxidant. The morphology of PPy particles obtained after drying the resulting aqueous dispersions was examined by optical microscopy, and selected samples were further analyzed via atomic force microscopy. Among the template polymers, PVA was the most efficient in generating stable dispersions of PPy nanospheres in water, followed by PEO and PEMA. The average size of PPy nanospheres was in the range of 160 nm and found to depend on the molecular weight and concentration of PVA. Model reactions and kinetics of the polymerization reaction of pyrrole in PVA were carried out by hydrogen 1H NMR spectroscopy using ammonium persulfate as an oxidant. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of polyethylene/graphite nanocomposites by in situ polymerization was achieved using the catalytic system Cp2ZrCl2 (bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium(IV) dichloride)/methylaluminoxane (MAO). Graphite with nano dimensions, previously treated with MAO, was added into the reactor as filler at percentages of 1, 2, and 5% (w/w). XRD analysis showed that the chemical and thermal treatments employed preserve the structure of the graphite sheets. The formation of graphite nanosheets and nanocomposites was confirmed by TEM and AFM. TEM micrographics showed that the polyethylene grew between the graphene nanosheets, giving intercalated and exfoliated graphite nanocomposites. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Tubular polypyrrole (PPy) could be synthesized by in situ doping polymerization in the presence of β‐naphthalene sulfonic acid (NSA) as dopant. The resultant tubular PPy–NSA not only exhibits high room temperature conductivity (ςRT = 10 S/cm) but is also soluble in m‐cresol. The molecular structure of PPy–NSA is identical to the characteristic structure of PPy synthesized by a conventional method. It has been demonstrated that NSA dopant with large molecular size and plate–lebe structure is a key factor to control formation of tubular PPy–NSA. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In this paper, we report a facile and one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of FeVO4-rGO nanorod composite and its application as a heterogeneous catalyst in the oxidative esterification reaction of aldehydes using hydrogen peroxide oxidant. The nanomaterial is thoroughly characterized by different techniques, namely, XPS, FESEM, elemental mapping, XRD, Raman, HRTEM, etc. The as-prepared nanocatalyst shows good activity for the controlled base-free oxidative esterification of various aromatic aldehydes in alcohol solvents under refluxing conditions, achieving good yields of the desired esters. Furthermore, the substrate scope was explored over a wide array of substituted aromatic aldehydes with diverse electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups in the phenyl ring. The presence of heterogeneous interfaces-induced properties in the nanorod composite results in synergistic effects to provide good catalytic performance. Thus, binary transition metal oxide-reduced graphene oxide-based nanocomposite as a nanocatalyst can open doors for efficient and sustainable esterification of aromatic aldehydes and aliphatic alcohols under oxidative conditions.  相似文献

Polyaniline (PAni) grafted nano silica were synthesized successfully by in situ polymerization of aniline (An) using ammonium persulphate (APS) as oxidant by three procedures: Firstly, γ‐(2,3‐epoxypropoxy)propyltrimethoxysilane (EPTMS) reacted with nano silica. Secondly, the EPTMS modified nano silica reacted with An as an initiator site introduced onto the silica surface, and finally PAni grafted silica was obtained by in situ chemical oxidative An. The chemical grafting of PAni was confirmed by FTIR and UV–Vis. The percentages of grafting EPTMS and An onto nano silica were 24.5 wt% and 10.3 wt%, respectively, calculated from elemental analysis (EA), while the percentage of grafting PAni was 157.7 wt% as a mass ratio of the grafting PAni and charged nano silica, investigated by TGA. In addition, characteristic agglomerate morphology of PAni was observed in the composite by SEM. The electrical conductivity of the product was 2.6 × 10?6 S cm?1 and it manifested that the resulted product was a typical semiconductor. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We demonstrate here a feasible approach to the preparation of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT)/polypyrrole (PPy) core–shell nanowires by in situ inverse microemulsion. Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy showed that the carbon nanotubes were uniformly coated with a PPy layer with a thickness of several to several tens of nanometers, depending on the MWNT content. Fourier transform infrared spectra suggested that there was strong interaction between the π‐bonded surface of the carbon nanotubes and the conjugated structure of the PPy shell layer. The thermal stability and electrical conductivity of the MWNT/PPy composites were examined with thermogravimetric analysis and a conventional four‐probe method. In comparison with pure PPy, the decomposition temperature of the MWNT/PPy (1 wt % MWNT) composites increased from 305 to 335 °C, and the electrical conductivity of the MWNT/PPy (1 wt % MWNT) composites increased by 1 order of magnitude. The current–voltage curves of the MWNT/PPy nanocomposites followed Ohm's law, reflecting the metallic character of the MWNT/PPy nanocomposites. The cyclic voltammetry measurements revealed that PPy/MWNT composites showed an enhancement in the specific charge capacity with respect to that of pure PPy. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Magnetically driven separation techniques have received considerable attention in recent decade because of their great potential application. In this study, we investigate the application of an unmodified layered magnetic Fe/Fe2O3 nanoscavenger for the analytical enrichment and determination of sub-parts per billion concentrations of Cd(II), Pb(II), Ni(II), Cr(VI) and As(V) from water samples. The synthesized nanoscavenger was characterized by BET, TGA, XRD and IR and the parameters influencing the extraction and recovery of the preconcentration process were assessed by atomic absorption spectrometry. The possible mechanism of the enrichment of heavy metals on Fe/Fe2O3 was proposed, which involved the dominant adsorption and reduction. The nanoscale size offers large surface area and high reactivity of sorption and reduction reactions. The obtained limits of detection for the metals studied were in the range of 20–125 ng L−1 and the applicability of the nanomaterial was verified using a real sample matrix. The method is environmentally friendly as only 15 mg of nanoscavenger are used, no organic solvent is required for the extraction and the experiment is performed without the need for filtration or preparation of packed preconcentration columns.  相似文献

A new, sensitive, fast and simple method using magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs), as an adsorbent has been developed for extraction, preconcentration and determination of traces of fluoride ions. The determination method is based on the discoloration of Fe(III)-SCN complex with extracted fluoride ions which was subsequently monitored spectrophotometrically at λmax = 458 nm. Various parameters affecting the adsorption of fluoride by the MIONs have been investigated, such as pH of the solution, type, volume and concentration of desorbing reagent, amount of adsorbent and interference effects. A linear response for the determination of fluoride was achieved in the concentration range of 0.040-1.250 μg mL−1. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) for fluoride based on 3 times and 10 times the standard deviation of the blank (3Sb, 10Sb) were 0.015 and 0.042 μg mL−1 (n = 20) for fluoride ion, respectively. A preconcentration factor of 50 was achieved in this method. The proposed procedure has been applied for determination of fluoride concentration in various water samples. The results obtained from this method were successfully compared with those provided by standard SPADNS method.  相似文献

A new strategy relying on the use of a phosphate‐based macromonomer (PAM200) to modify the surface of iron oxide nanoparticles was developed for the synthesis of submicrometer polystyrene (PS) magnetic particles. First, iron oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using the coprecipitation of ferrous and ferric salts in alkaline medium. Besides the classical oleic acid (OA)/octane‐based ferrofluid, styrene‐based ferrofluids were elaborated with either OA or PAM200 as the stabilizer. In all cases, maghemite (γ‐Fe2O3) was clearly identified, with nanoparticles rather spherical in shape but exhibiting broad particle size distribution (PSD). Both OA and PAM200 led to stable maghemite‐based ferrofluids showing superparamagnetic properties. Further use of these ferrofluids in styrene miniemulsion polymerization resulted in inhomogeneous distribution of maghemite among and inside the polymer particles with OA‐based ferrofluids, whereas PAM200/styrene‐based ferrofluids led to magnetic particles with homogeneous distribution of maghemite inside PS particles. Broad PSD and small nonmagnetic particles were however observed. The true mechanisms operating in these systems are still to elucidate, but this study validates PAM200 as an efficient compatibilizing agent between hydrophilic maghemite and hydrophobic PS. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This work demonstrates a feasible route to synthesize the layered polypyrrole/graphite oxide (PPy/GO) composite by in situ emulsion polymerization in the presence of cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as emulsifier. AFM and XRD results reveal that the GO can be delaminated into nanosheets and well dispersed in aqueous solution in the presence of CTAB. The PPy nanowires are formed due to the presence of the lamellar mesostructured (CTA)2S2O8 as a template. The results of the PPy/GO composite indicate the PPy insert successfully into GO interlayers, and the nanofiber‐like PPy are deposited onto the GO surface. Owing to π–π electron stacking effect between the pyrrole ring of PPy and the unoxided domain of GO sheets, the electrical conductivity of PPy/GO composite (5 S/cm) significantly improves in comparison with pure PPy nanowires (0.94 S/cm) and pristine GO (1 × 10?6 S/cm). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The aim of this study was to investigate physical and mechanical properties of graphene oxide (GO)/polyethersulfone (PES) nanocomposite films. The films were produced by solution casting method. The mechanical properties of composite films were evaluated by tensile test. A significant enhancement in the mechanical properties of neat PES films was obtained incorporating a small amount of GO loading (0.05–1 wt.%). The highest tensile strength was observed at 1 wt.% of GO. Comparisons were made between experimental data and the Halpin–Tsai model predictions for the tensile strength and modulus of GO/PES composites. The effect of an orientation factor on model predictions was also acquired. The hydrophilicity of the nanocomposite was evaluated by assessing contact angle and enhanced wet ability of the films was obtained with increasing the amount of GO up to 1%. The morphology of the nanocomposites was investigated using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and the results revealed a good dispersion of GO in the PES matrix. The thermal behavior of the composite was also studied. Thermal stability of composites was increased by adding the GO. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

New original water‐soluble magnetic nanoparticles based on natural components, magnetite–oleic acid–biologically active silyl modified alkanolamine, were synthesized. Physico‐chemical characterization, i.e. magnetic properties, concentration of magnetite, size of iron oxide core, of the nanoparticles synthesized and the corresponding magnetic fluids obtained, was carried out. Magnetic fluids were screened for in vitro cytotoxicity concerning human fibrosarcoma (HT‐1080), mouse hepatoma (MG‐22A) monolayer tumour cell lines and normal mouse fibroblasts (NIH 3T3). They possess low or moderate cytotoxic effects, are non‐toxic, exhibit high NO‐induction ability and strongly change tumour cell morphology. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
