Automorphism groups of some algebras

The automorphism groups of algebras are found in many papers. Using auto-invariance, we find the automorphism groups of the Laurent extension of the polynomial ring and the quantum n-plane (respectively, twisting polynomial ring) in this work. As an application of the results of this work, we can find the automorphism group of a twisting algebra. We define a generalized Weyl algebra and show that the generalized Weyl algebra is simple. We also find the automorphism group of a generalized Weyl algebra. We show that the generalized Weyl algebra A _m,m+n is the universal enveloping algebra of the generalized Witt algebra W(m,m + n). Local conformal nets arising from framed vertex operator algebras

We apply an idea of framed vertex operator algebras to a construction of local conformal nets of (injective type III₁) factors on the circle corresponding to various lattice vertex operator algebras and their twisted orbifolds. In particular, we give a local conformal net corresponding to the moonshine vertex operator algebras of Frenkel-Lepowsky-Meurman. Its central charge is 24, it has a trivial representation theory in the sense that the vacuum sector is the only irreducible DHR sector, its vacuum character is the modular invariant J-function and its automorphism group (the gauge group) is the Monster group. We use our previous tools such as α-induction and complete rationality to study extensions of local conformal nets.     

2-Local automorphisms of operator algebras

A not necessarily continuous, linear or multiplicative function θ from an algebra A into itself is called a 2-local automorphism if θ agrees with an automorphism of A at each pair of points in A. In this paper, we study when a 2-local automorphism of a C^∗-algebra, or a standard operator algebra on a locally convex space, is an automorphism.     

Discriminant algebras of finite rank algebras and quadratic trace modules

Based on the construction of the discriminant algebra of an even-ranked quadratic form and Rost’s method of shifting quadratic algebras, we give an explicit rational construction of the discriminant algebra of finite-rank algebras and, more generally, of quadratic trace modules, over arbitrary commutative rings. The discriminant algebra is a tensor functor with values in quadratic algebras, and a symmetric tensor functor with values in quadratic algebras with parity. The automorphism group of a separable quadratic trace module is a smooth, but in general not reductive, group scheme admitting a Dickson type homomorphism into the constant group scheme Z ₂.     

Automorphisms of the lattice of all subalgebras of the semiring of polynomials in one variable

In this paper, we describe automorphisms of the lattice $ {\mathbb A} $ of all subalgebras of the semiring ?⁺[x] of polynomials in one variable over the semifield ?⁺ of nonnegative real numbers. It is proved that any automorphism of the lattice A is generated by an automorphism of the semiring ?⁺[x] that is induced by a substitution x ? px for some positive real number p. It follows that the automorphism group of the lattice $ {\mathbb A} $ is isomorphic to the group of all positive real numbers with multiplication. A technique of unigenerated subalgebras is applied.     

The automorphism groups of the vertex operator algebras V + L : general case

In this article, we give a method of calculating the automorphism groups of the vertex operator algebras V⁺_L associated with even lattices L. For example, by using this method we determine the automorphism groups of V⁺_L for even lattices of rank one, two and three, and even unimodular lattices. Local automorphisms of standard operator algebras

Let X be an infinite-dimensional separable real or complex Banach space and A a closed standard operator algebra on X. Then every local automorphism of A is an automorphism. The assumptions of infinite-dimensionality, separability, and closeness are all indispensable.     

Cofibrations of algebras

Summary The chain complex of a twisted free product A_*t, FK, is chain homotopy equivalent to a differential graded algebra, which is identified to be a confibration of algebras as defined by Quillen. Under certain connectivity conditions we obtain a long exact sequence connecting the homologies of A, K, and A_*t FK. In particular we derive a long exact sequence connecting the homologies of Y, X and (Y U_g CX) (, C, are the loop, the cone and the suspension constructions respectively). A chain complex equivalent to the chain complex of the Milnor free group FX is recognized, from which results a theorem of Bott and Samelson that H(X) is freely generated as a graded algebra by H(X).     

Okubo algebras in characteristic 3 and their automorphisms

Associated to any eight-dimensional non-unital composition algebra with associative norm, there are outer automorphisms of order 3 of the corresponding spin group, such tiat the fixed subgroup is the automorphism group of the composition algebra. Over fields of characteristic ≠ 3 these are simple algebraic groups of types G ₂ or A ₂, related respectively to the para-octonion and the Okubo algebras

A connection between the Okubo algebras over fields of characteristic 3 with some simple noncommutative Jordan algebras will be used to compute explicitly the automorphism groups and Lie algebras of derivations of these algebras. In contrast to the other characteristics, ths groups will no longer be of type A ₂ and will either be trivial or contain a large unipotent radical.     

Action of some braid groups on hodge algebras

In this paper we show that the braid groups B _n and the symmetric automorphism groups H(n) of the free group F _n,n = 3,4 act in a non-linear way on an algebra with straightening law (ordinal Hodge algebra). We indicate various properties of these rings.     

On the lattice automorphisms of the finite Chevalley groups

A lattice automorphism of a group is defined to be an automorphism of its lattice of subgroups. For a large class of finite simple Chevalley groups, it is shown that every lattice automorphism is induced by a group automorphism. However, this does not hold for all finite simple Chevalley groups G, as is shown by explicit construction in the case G=PSL(3, q).     

Minimal generating reflexive lattices of projections in finite von Neumann algebras

We show that the reflexive lattice generated by a double triangle lattice of projections in a finite von Neumann algebra is topologically homeomorphic to the two-dimensional sphere S ² (plus two distinct points corresponding to zero and I). Furthermore, such a reflexive lattice is in general minimally generating for the von Neumann algebra it generates. As an application, we show that if a reflexive lattice F{\mathcal F} generates the algebra M_n(\mathbb C){M_n(\mathbb C)} of all n × n complex matrices, for some n ≥ 3, then F\{0,I}{\mathcal F\setminus\{0,I\}} is connected if and only if it is homeomorphic to S ².     

Counting Overlattices in Automorphism Groups of Trees

We give an upper bound for the number u _Γ(n) of “overlattices” in the automorphism group of a tree, containing a fixed lattice Γ with index n. For an example of Γ in the automorphism group of a 2p-regular tree whose quotient is a loop, we obtain a lower bound of the asymptotic behavior as well.     

Dimension and automorphism groups of lattices

Every group is the automorphism group of a lattice of order dimension at most 4. We conjecture that the automorphism groups of finite modular lattices of bounded dimension do not represent every finite group. It is shown that ifp is a large prime dividing the order of the automorphism group of a finite modular latticeL then eitherL has high order dimension orM _p, the lattice of height 2 and orderp+2, has a cover-preserving embedding inL. We mention a number of open problems. Presented by C. R. Platt.     

Congruences on ockham algebras with pseudocomplementation

The variety pOconsists of those algebras (L;?,?,f,^*,0,1) where (L;?,?,f,0,1) is an Ockham algebra, (L;?,?,f,^*,0,1) is a p-algebra, and the unary operations fand ^*. commute. For an algebra in pK _ωwe show that the compact congruences form a dual Stone lattice and use this to determine necessary and sufficient conditions for a principal congruence to be complemented. We also describe the lattice of subvarieties of pK _1,1identifying therein the biggest subvariety in which every principal congruence is complemented, and the biggest subvariety in which the intersection of two principal congruences is principal.
