Let G be a finite graph on the vertex set [d] = {1,…, d} with the edges e 1,…, e n and K[t] = K[t 1,…, t d ] the polynomial ring in d variables over a field K. The edge ring of G is the semigroup ring K[G] which is generated by those monomials t e  = t i t j such that e = {i, j} is an edge of G. Let K[x] = K[x 1,…, x n ] be the polynomial ring in n variables over K, and define the surjective homomorphism π: K[x] → K[G] by setting π(x i ) = t e i for i = 1,…, n. The toric ideal I G of G is the kernel of π. It will be proved that, given integers f and d with 6 ≤ f ≤ d, there exists a finite connected nonbipartite graph G on [d] together with a reverse lexicographic order <rev on K[x] and a lexicographic order <lex on K[x] such that (i) K[G] is normal with Krull-dim K[G] = d, (ii) depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) = f and K[x]/in<lex (I G ) is Cohen–Macaulay, where in<rev (I G ) (resp., in<lex (I G )) is the initial ideal of I G with respect to <rev (resp., <lex) and where depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) is the depth of K[x]/in<rev (I G ).  相似文献

Consider two maps f and g from a set E into a set F such that f(x) ≠ g(x) for every x in E. Suppose that there exists a positive integer n such that for any element z in F either f?1(z) or g?1(z) has at most n elements. Then, E can be partitioned into 2n + 1 subsets E1, E2,…,E2n + 1 such that f(Ei)∩ g(Ei) = ?, 1 ≤ i ≤ 2n + 1. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 44: 296–303, 2003  相似文献

Lek k be an infinite field and suppose m.i. and n are positive integers such that t m We study the subset of k[x 1,x 2, … xm ] which consists of 0 and the homogeneous members t of f of k[x 1,x 2, … xm ] of fixed degree n such that there exists homogeneous F 1, F 2, … Ft in k[x 1,x 2, … xm ] of degree one and homogenous g 1 g 2, …gt , in k[x 1,x 2, … xm ] such that f(x) = F 1(x)g 1(x) + F 2(x)g 2(x) + … + F t (x)g t (x) for each x in k m. In case k is algebrarcally closed we are able to prove that this set is an algebraic variety. Consequently. if k is also of characteristic 0 then we are able to prove that certain collections of symmetric k-valued multilinear functions are algebraic varieties.  相似文献

Let T be an integral domain with a maximal ideal M, ?: T → K: = T/M the natural surjection, and R the pullback ??1(D), where D is a proper subring of K. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the mixed extensions R[x 1]]…[x n ]] to be catenarian, where each [x i ]] is fixed as either [x i ] or [[x i ]]. We also give a complete answer to the question of determining the field extensions k ? K such that the contraction map Spec(K[x 1]]…[x n ]]) → Spec(k[x 1]]…[x n ]]) is a homeomorphism. As an application, we characterize the globalized pseudo-valuation domains R such that R[x 1]]…[x n ]] is catenarian.  相似文献

We provide irreducibility criteria for multivariate polynomials with coefficients in an arbitrary field that extend a classical result of Pólya for polynomials with integer coefficients. In particular, we provide irreducibility conditions for polynomials of the form f(X)(Y ? f 1(X))…(Y ? f n (X)) + g(X), with f, f 1, ?, f n , g univariate polynomials over an arbitrary field.  相似文献

When D is a commutative integral domain with field of fractions K, the ring Int(D) = {f ∈ K[x] | f(D) ? D} of integer-valued polynomials over D is well-understood. This article considers the construction of integer-valued polynomials over matrix rings with entries in an integral domain. Given an integral domain D with field of fractions K, we define Int(M n (D)): = {f ∈ M n (K)[x] | f(M n (D)) ? M n (D)}. We prove that Int(M n (D)) is a ring and investigate its structure and ideals. We also derive a generating set for Int(M n (?)) and prove that Int(M n (?)) is non-Noetherian.  相似文献

Let R be a UFD, and let M(R, n) be the set of all subalgebras of the form R[f], where f ∈ R[x 1,…, x n ]?R. For a polynomial f ∈ R[x 1,…, x n ]?R, we prove that R[f] is a maximal element of M(R, n) if and only if it is integrally closed in R[x 1,…, x n ] and Q(R)[f] ∩ R[x 1,…, x n ] = R[f]. Moreover, we prove that, in the case where the characteristic of R equals zero, R[f] is a maximal element of M(R, n) if and only if there exists an R-derivation on R[x 1,…, x n ] whose kernel equals R[f].  相似文献

Abstract

Let d be a positive integer, and F be a field of characteristic zero. Suppose that for each positive integer n, I n, is a GL n,(F)- invariant of forms of degree d in x1, …, x n, over F. We call {I n} an additive family of invariants if I p+q (fg) = I p(f).I q(g) whenever f; g are forms of degree d over F in x l, …, x p; …, x q respectively, and where (fg)(x l, …, x p+q) = f(x 1, …, x p,) + g (x p+1, …, x p+q). It is well-known that the family of discriminants of the quadratic forms is additive. We prove that in odd degree d each invariant in an additive family must be a constant. We also give an example in each even degree d of a nontrivial family of invariants of the forms of degree d. The proofs depend on the symbolic method for representing invariants of a form, which we review.  相似文献

Let K be a commutative ring with unity, R a prime K-algebra of characteristic different from 2, U the right Utumi quotient ring of R, f(x 1,…, x n ) a noncentral multilinear polynomial over K, and G a nonzero generalized derivation of R. Denote f(R) the set of all evaluations of the polynomial f(x 1,…, x n ) in R. If [G(u)u, G(v)v] = 0, for any u, v ∈ f(R), we prove that there exists c ∈ U such that G(x) = cx, for all x ∈ R and one of the following holds: 1. f(x 1,…, x n )2 is central valued on R;

2. R satisfies s 4, the standard identity of degree 4.

For a homoclinic class H(p f ) of f ?? Diff1(M), f?OH(p f ) is called R-robustly entropy-expansive if for g in a locally residual subset around f, the set ?? ? (x) = {y ?? M: dist(g n (x), g n (y)) ?? g3 (?n ?? ?)} has zero topological entropy for each x ?? H(p g ). We prove that there exists an open and dense set around f such that for every g in it, H(p g ) admits a dominated splitting of the form E ?? F 1 ?? ... ?? F k ?? G where all of F i are one-dimensional and non-hyperbolic, which extends a result of Pacifico and Vieitez for robustly entropy-expansive diffeomorphisms. Some relevant consequences are also shown.  相似文献

This paper studies the behavior under iteration of the maps T ab (x,y) = (F ab (x) ? y, x) of the plane ?2, in which F ab (x) = ax if x ≥ 0 and bx if x < 0. These maps are area-preserving homeomorphisms of ?2 that map rays from the origin to rays from the origin. Orbits of the map correspond to solutions of the nonlinear difference equation x n+2 = 1/2(a ? b)|x n+1|+1/2(a+b)x n+1 ? x n . This difference equation can be rewritten in an eigenvalue form for a nonlinear difference operator of Schrödinger type ? x n+2+2x n+1 ? x n +V μ(x n+1)x n+1 = Ex n+1, in which μ = (1/2)(a ? b) is fixed, and V μ(x) = μ(sgn(x)) is an antisymmetric step function potential, and the energy E = 2 ? 1/2(a+b). We study the set Ω SB of parameter values where the map T ab has at least one bounded orbit, which correspond to l -eigenfunctions of this difference operator. The paper shows that for transcendental μ the set Spec[μ] of energy values E having a bounded solution is a Cantor set. Numerical simulations suggest the possibility that these Cantor sets have positive (one-dimensional) measure for all real values of μ.  相似文献

Let K be a commutative ring with unity, R a prime K-algebra, Z(R) the center of R, d and δ nonzero derivations of R, and f(x 1,…, x n ) a multilinear polynomial over K. If [d(f(r 1,…, r n )), δ (f(r 1,…, r n ))] ? Z(R), for all r 1,…, r n  ? R, then either f(x 1,…, x n ) is central valued on R or {d, δ} are linearly dependent over C, the extended centroid of R, except when char(R) = 2 and dim C RC = 4.  相似文献

Let R be a PID. We construct and classify all coordinates of R[x, y] of the form p 2 y + Q 2(p 1 x + Q 1(y)) with p 1, p 2 ∈ qt(R) and Q 1, Q 2 ∈ qt(R)[y]. From this construction (with R = K[z]) we obtain nontame automorphisms σ of K[x, y, z] (where K is a field of characteristic 0) such that the subgroup generated by σ and the affine automorphisms contains all tame automorphisms.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Let R be a prime ring with a nonzero derivation d and let f(X 1,…,X t ) be a multilinear polynomial over C, the extended centroid of R. Suppose that b[d(f(x 1,…,x t )), f(x 1,…,x t )] n  = 0 for all x i  ∈ R, where 0 ≠ b ∈ R and n is a fixed positive integer. Then f(X 1,…,X t ) is centrally valued on R unless char R = 2 and dim C RC = 4. We prove a more generalized version by replacing R with a left ideal.  相似文献

For α < ε0, Nα denotes the number of occurrences of ω in the Cantor normal form of α with the base ω. For a binary number-theoretic function f let B(K; f) denote the length n of the longest descending chain (α0, …, αn–1) of ordinals <ε0 such that for all i < n, Nαif (K, i). Simpson [2] called ε0 as slowly well ordered when B (K; f) is totally defined for f (K; i) = K · (i+ 1). Let |n| denote the binary length of the natural number n, and |n|k the k-times iterate of the logarithmic function |n|. For a unary function h let L(K; h) denote the function B (K; h0(K; i)) with h0(K, i) = K + |i| · |i|h(i). In this note we show, inspired from Weiermann [4], that, under a reasonable condition on h, the functionL (K; h) is primitive recursive in the inverse h–1 and vice versa.  相似文献
