ABSTRACT

A monomial basis and a filtration of subalgebras for the universal enveloping algebra 𝔘(𝔤 l ) of a complex simple Lie algebra 𝔤 l of type A l is given in this note. In particular, a new multiplicity formula for the Weyl module V(λ) of 𝔘(𝔤 l ) is obtained in this note.  相似文献

We consider a simplicial complex generalization of a result of Billera and Myers that every nonshellable poset contains the smallest nonshellable poset as an induced subposet. We prove that every nonshellable two-dimensional simplicial complex contains a nonshellable induced subcomplex with less than eight vertices. We also establish CL-shellability of interval orders and as a consequence obtain a formula for the Betti numbers of any interval order. In this paper we show results on the combinatorial properties of shifted simplicial complexes. We prove two intrinsic characterization theorems for this class. The first theorem is in terms of a generalized vicinal preorder. It is shown that a complex is shifted if and only if the preorder is total. Building on this we characterize obstructions to shiftedness and prove there are finitely many in each dimension. In addition, we give results on the enumeration of shifted complexes and a connection to totally symmetric plane partitions.  相似文献

An obstruction theory is developed to decide when an isomorphism of rational cohomology can be realized by a rational homotopy equivalence (either between rationally nilpotent spaces, or between commutative graded differential algebras). This is used to show that a cohomology isomorphism can be so realized whenever it can be realized over some field extension (a result obtained independently by Sullivan).In particular an algorithmic method is given to decide when a c.g.d.a. has the same homotopy type as its cohomology (the c.g.d.a. is called formal in this case).The chief technique is the construction of a canonically filtered model for a commutative graded differential algebra (over a field of characteristic zero) by perturbing the minimal model for the cohomology algebra. This filtered model is also used to give a simple construction of the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence arising from the bar construction. An example is given of a c.g.d.a. whose Eilenberg-Moore sequence collapses, yet which is not formal.  相似文献

A general type of edge colorings is described which includes many known colorings. Necessary and sufficient conditions for bicolorability are established by using simple alternating chain methods. Sufficient conditions for k-colorability are then stated. The first type of condition consists of excluding obstructions (i.e., non-bicolorable partial graphs) from the graph; the second type of condition requires some topological properties for the obstructions.  相似文献

We study infinitesimal Einstein deformations on compact flat manifolds and on product manifolds. Moreover, we prove refinements of results by Koiso and Bourguignon which yield obstructions on the existence of infinitesimal Einstein deformations under certain curvature conditions.  相似文献

Suppose one has a map of split short exact sequences in a category of modules, or more generally, in any abelian category. Do the short exact sequences split compatibly, i.e., does there exist a splitting of each short exact sequence which commutes with the map of short exact sequences? The answer is sometimes “yes” and sometimes “no”. We define and prove basic properties of a group of obstructions to the existence of compatible splittings.  相似文献

There has recently been ample interest in the question of which sets can be represented by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A necessary condition is that the set is rigidly convex, and it has been conjectured that rigid convexity is also sufficient. To this end Helton and Vinnikov conjectured that any real zero polynomial admits a determinantal representation with symmetric matrices. We disprove this conjecture. By relating the question of finding LMI representations to the problem of determining whether a polymatroid is representable over the complex numbers, we find a real zero polynomial such that no power of it admits a determinantal representation. The proof uses recent results of Wagner and Wei on matroids with the half-plane property, and the polymatroids associated to hyperbolic polynomials introduced by Gurvits.  相似文献

In this paper we prove rigidity theorems for Poisson Lie group actions on Poisson manifolds. In particular, we prove that close infinitesimal momentum maps associated to Poisson Lie group actions are equivalent using a normal form theorem for SCI spaces. When the Poisson structure of the acted manifold is integrable, this yields rigidity also for lifted actions to the symplectic groupoid.  相似文献

This paper belongs to the realm of conformal geometry and deals with Euclidean submanifolds that admit smooth variations that are infinitesimally conformal. Conformal variations of Euclidean submanifolds are a classical subject in differential geometry. In fact, already in 1917 Cartan classified parametrically the Euclidean hypersurfaces that admit nontrivial conformal variations. Our first main result is a Fundamental theorem for conformal infinitesimal variations. The second is a rigidity theorem for Euclidean submanifolds that lie in low codimension.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the limits of variational sums of an infinitesimal system S={{X nj }}. For a function g we let . When S is formed from the increments of a stochastic process with stationary independent increments, there has been much work done on conditions to insure convergence of V n (g, S). The methods used in these studies however fail in the case of a general system. We define an index a for the system S and show it is the natural index for studying convergence of V n (g, S). For systems formed by the domain of attraction of a stable distribution with index we have =. For systems from increments of processes with (not necessarily stationary) independent increments a generalizes the Blumenthal-Getoor index. Convergence in distribution and convergence of expectations of V n (g, S) are studied.This paper includes some parts of the author's doctoral dissertation completed in 1975 at the University of California, Irvine, under the direction of Professor Howard G. Given a map f : MN of closed topological manifolds we define torsion obstructions whose vanishing is a necessary condition for f being homotopy equivalent to a projection of a locally trivial fiber bundle. If N = S 1, these torsion obstructions are identified with the ones due to Farrell (Indiana Univ Math J 21:315–346, 1971/1972).  相似文献
