Here, a simple combined strategy of surface wrinkling with visible light irradiation to fabricate well tunable hierarchical surface patterns on azo‐containing multilayer films is reported. The key to tailor surface patterns is to introduce a photosensitive poly(disperse orange 3) intermediate layer into the film/substrate wrinkling system, in which the modulus decrease is induced by the reversible photoisomerization. The existence of a photoinert top layer prevents the photoisomerization‐induced stress release in the intermediate layer to some extent. Consequently, the as‐formed wrinkling patterns can be modulated over a large area by light irradiation. Interestingly, in the case of selective exposure, the wrinkle wavelength in the exposed region decreases, while the wrinkles in the unexposed region are evolved into highly oriented wrinkles with the orientation perpendicular to the exposed/unexposed boundary. Compared with traditional single layer‐based film/substrate systems, the multilayer system consisting of the photosensitive intermediate layer offers unprecedented advantages in the patterning controllability/universality. As demonstrated here, this simple and versatile strategy can be conveniently extended to functional multilayer systems for the creation of prescribed hierarchical surface patterns with optically tailored microstructures.

High yielding syntheses of 1‐(ferrocenylmethyl)‐3‐mesitylimidazolium iodide ( 1 ) and 1‐(ferrocenylmethyl)‐3‐mesitylimidazol‐2‐ylidene ( 2 ) were developed. Complexation of 2 to [{Ir(cod)Cl}2] (cod=cis,cis‐1,5‐cyclooctadiene) or [Ru(PCy3)Cl2(?CH‐o‐O‐iPrC6H4)] (Cy=cyclohexyl) afforded 3 ([Ir( 2 )(cod)Cl]) and 5 ([Ru( 2 )Cl2(?CH‐o‐O‐iPrC6H4)]), respectively. Complex 4 ([Ir( 2 )(CO)2Cl]) was obtained by bubbling carbon monoxide through a solution of 3 in CH2Cl2. Spectroelectrochemical IR analysis of 4 revealed that the oxidation of the ferrocene moiety in 2 significantly reduced the electron‐donating ability of the N‐heterocyclic carbene ligand (ΔTEP=9 cm?1; TEP=Tolman electronic parameter). The oxidation of 5 with [Fe(η5‐C5H4COMe)Cp][BF4] as well as the subsequent reduction of the corresponding product [ 5 ][BF4] with decamethylferrocene (Fc*) each proceeded in greater than 95 % yield. Mössbauer, UV/Vis and EPR spectroscopy analysis confirmed that [ 5 ][BF4] contained a ferrocenium species, indicating that the iron center was selectively oxidized over the ruthenium center. Complexes 5 and [ 5 ][BF4] were found to catalyze the ring‐closing metathesis (RCM) of diethyl diallylmalonate with observed pseudo‐first‐order rate constants (kobs) of 3.1×10?4 and 1.2×10?5 s?1, respectively. By adding suitable oxidants or reductants over the course of a RCM reaction, complex 5 was switched between different states of catalytic activity. A second‐generation N‐heterocyclic carbene that featured a 1′,2′,3′,4′,5′‐ pentamethylferrocenyl moiety ( 10 ) was also prepared and metal complexes containing this ligand were found to undergo iron‐centered oxidations at lower potentials than analogous complexes supported by 2 (0.30–0.36 V vs. 0.56–0.62 V, respectively). Redox switching experiments using [Ru( 10 )Cl2(?CH‐o‐O‐iPrC6H4)] revealed that greater than 94 % of the initial catalytic activity was restored after an oxidation–reduction cycle. 相似文献

Urchin‐like PANI microspheres with an average diameter of 5–10 µm have been successfully prepared. Their surfaces consist of highly oriented nanofibers of ≈30 nm diameter and 1 µm length. The solvent composition plays an important role in the formation process of urchin‐like PANI microspheres. The structure of the products has been characterized by FT‐IR, UV‐vis, and XRD. To investigate the self‐assembly of urchin‐like PANI microspheres, the effect of polymerization time on the morphology of the products has been studied. The morphological evolution process indicates that the urchin‐like microspheres originate from the self‐assembly of nanoplates, which then grow into urchin‐like microstructures with nanofibers on the surface.

PANI nanofibers are prepared electrochemically by template‐free method on a stainless steel electrode. Both the hydrophilicity and the lipophilicity of the modified SS surface are enhanced by the nanostructured PANI, and a super‐amphiphilic surface is obtained in this way. The influence of polymerization conditions, such as polymerization potentials, polymerization time, the acidity, and the dopants on the super‐amphiphilic property, has been systematically investigated. In addition, the mechanisms of obtaining a super‐amphiphilic surface are briefly discussed.

Polyaniline nanodisks have been synthesized successfully by the chemical oxidation polymerization of aniline by a self‐assembly process without the use of any acid. The thickness and lateral dimensions of the polyaniline nanodisks are in the range of 20–30 nm and 1–2 µm, respectively. The influence of synthetic parameters, such as the concentration of ammonium peroxydisulfate and pH, on the morphologies of polyaniline nanostructures have been investigated.

Conducting semi‐interpenetrating network composites with low conductivity percolation threshold were synthesized from waterborne conducting polyaniline (cPAn) and melamine‐urea resin. A perfect network of cPAn in the composite was observed by means of TEM (see Figure). The conductivity stability of cPAn in water was improved by confining the chain mobility of cPAn via in‐situ crosslinking of melamine‐urea resin. Cyclic voltammetry of the composites reveals electrochemical activities and reversibilities similarly to those of pure cPAn. 相似文献

A new method to develop two‐dimensional PANI nanosheets using ice as a removable hard template is presented. Distinctly high current flows of 5.5 mA at 1 V and a high electrical conductivity of 35 S cm?1 were obtained for the polyaniline (PANI) nanosheets, which marked a significant improvement from previously values on other PANIs reported over the past decades. These improved electrical properties of ice‐templated PANI nanosheets were attributed to the long‐range ordered edge‐on π‐stacking of the quinoid ring, ascribed to the ice surface‐assisted vertical growth of PANI. The unprecedented advantages of the ice‐templated PANI nanosheets are two‐fold. First, the PANI nanosheet can be easily transferred onto various types of substrates via float‐off from the ice surfaces. Second, PANI can be patterned into any shape using predetermined masks, and this is expected to facilitate the eventual convenient and inexpensive application of conducting polymers in versatile electronic device forms. 相似文献

An improved method, based on mechanical stirring and a controlled solvent evaporation process, is proposed to obtain PANI(CSA)0.5/m‐cresol solutions, which lead to gels with conductivities in the range 3 to 150 S/cm, preserving the elasticity associated to the gel network. Such high conductivity values have only been found for brittle films cast from PANI solutions. According to our experimental results, there is no justification for an analogy between the elastic modulus and the conductivity of physical networks. 相似文献

The redox switchable formation of very well‐defined supramolecular graft polymers in aqueous solution driven by host–guest interactions between ferrocene (Fc) and cyclodextrin (CD) is presented. The Fc‐containing acrylic backbone copolymer (PDMA‐stat‐Fc) is prepared via reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) copolymerization of N,N‐dimethylacrylamide (DMA) and the novel monomer N‐(ferrocenoylmethyl)acrylamide (NFMA). Via the RAFT process, copolymers containing variable Fc ratios (5‐10 mol%) are prepared, affording polymers of molecular masses of close to 11 000 g mol−1 and molar mass dispersities (Đ) of 1.2. The β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) containing building block is synthesized via RAFT‐polymerization, too, in order to afford a polymer with well‐defined molecular mass and low dispersity ( = 10 300 g mol−1, Đ = 1.1), employing a propargyl‐functionalized chain transfer agent for the polymerization of N,N‐diethylacrylamide (DEA). The polymerization product is subsequently terminated with β‐CD via the regiospecific copper (I)‐catalyzed 1,3‐cycloaddition (PDEA‐βCD). Host–guest interactions between Fc and CD lead to the formation of supramolecular graft‐polymers, verified via nuclear Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (NOESY). Importantly, their redox‐responsive character is clearly confirmed via cyclic voltammetry (CV). The self‐assembly of the statistical Fc‐containing lateral polymer chain in aqueous solution leads to mono‐ and multi‐core micelle‐aggregates evidenced via TEM. Only diffused cloud‐like, non‐spherical nanostructures are observed after addition of PDEA‐βCD (TEM).

We investigated new polyaniline copolymers with solvent‐mimic side chains for enhanced processability in various solvents. The solvent‐mimic side chains, benzyloxypropoxy (BOP), phenoxybutoxy (POB), and dihydroxypropoxy (DHP), were introduced into copolymers and used with nonpolar aromatic and polar alcoholic solvents, respectively. Compared to a polyaniline homopolymer, polyaniline copolymers with a small amount of side chains (<4 mol %) exhibit different physical properties, including film‐forming ability. This can be attributed to the solvent‐mimic side chains strongly interacting with the solvent and/or the polyaniline backbone. Especially, in nonpolar aromatic solvents, polyaniline copolymers with nonpolar aromatic BOP and POB side chains exhibit good film‐forming ability leading to high electrical conductivity, while the polyaniline homopolymer did not form a film. Therefore, introducing solvent‐mimic side chains in conducting polymers is a very attractive method of enhancing their processability and physical properties. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Electroactive polyamides containing dense oligoaniline functionalizations (PAs) were synthesized via oxidative coupling polymerization followed by postpolymerization functionalization, and exhibit excellent solubility, good thermal stability and reversible electroactivity. Interesting spectroscopic changes that occurred through chemical oxidation have been shown, which demonstrate the potential of PAs as an electrochromic material. As a result, the electrochromic behaviors of PAs were investigated in detail, exhibiting high contrast value, moderate switching time, and satisfactory coloration efficiency. The thermal behaviour of polyaniline plasticized by an oligoester of phosphoric acid was investigated by means of thermogravimetry,
either alone or coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. It was found
that additional thermal transitions, resulting from the dopant, occur in the temperature range 200-250°C. The emission of
volatile products, as evidenced by the Gram-Schmidt chromatograms, was suppressed by the plasticizer used. This stabilization
was probably due to a decreased possibility of diffusion in the three-dimensional honeycomb polymer-plasticizer structure.

Self‐assembly of two‐dimensional (2D) structures from functional molecules is of great scientific importance. Herein, using a typical linear conducting polymer, polyaniline as building blocks, 2D single crystalline microplates are successively produced. The structure of 2D microplates is clearly defined by selected area electron diffraction, X‐ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. Owing to the anisotropic arrangement of linear conjugated PANI molecules, the microplate shows a typical anisotropic electrical transport property.

Rectangular‐tube‐based fan‐like polyaniline has been readily fabricated by the oxidation polymerization of low‐concentration aniline in dilute HCl aqueous solution for the first time. Different from the conventional polymerization that proceeds in concentrated acidic solution (to produce nanofibers), this synthesis was conducted in dilute inorganic acid solution at room temperature and created polyaniline hierarchical fan‐like architectures. The morphological evolution of the product has been followed with respect to the reaction time, based on which conceivable interpretations of the formation of rectangular tubes and their assembly into fan‐like architectures are given. Other inorganic acids (HNO3, H2SO4, and H3PO4) with low concentrations have been used to replace HCl in the reaction system to validate the adaptability of this approach in this report.

Summary: Polyaniline (PANI) nanowires and sub‐micro/nanostructured dendrites are synthesized and immobilized on PP‐g‐PAA film surfaces via routine oxidative polymerization of aniline under different conditions, where grafting poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) served as a template and dopant, and SDS as a surfactant. The immobilized PANI enhances the surface hydrophilicity of the poly(propylene) (PP) films, and a superhydrophilic surface is obtained in this way. The mechanism of forming different morphologies of PANI and of correspondingly obtaining a superhydrophilic surface are briefly discussed.

Electrodes based on organic matter operating in aqueous electrolytes enable new approaches and technologies for assembling and utilizing batteries that are difficult to achieve with traditional electrode materials. Here, we report how thiophene‐based trimeric structures with naphthoquinone or hydroquinone redox‐active pendent groups can be processed in solution, deposited, dried and subsequently polymerized in solid state to form conductive (redox) polymer layers without any additives. Such post‐deposition polymerization offers efficient use of material, high mass loading (up to 10 mg cm?2) and good flexibility in the choice of substrate and coating method. By employing these materials as anode and cathode in an acidic aqueous electrolyte a rocking‐chair proton battery is built. The battery shows good cycling stability (85 % after 500 cycles), withstands rapid charging, with full capacity (60 mAh g?1) reached within 100 seconds, allows for direct integration with photovoltaics, and retains its favorable characteristics even at ?24 °C. 相似文献

A microarray with a period of about 1 μm was fabricated from a crosslinked liquid crystal polymer (CLCP) containing azobenzene groups by using the replica molding technique. In accordance with the photoinduced deformation of the CLCP induced by the photoisomerization of the azobenzene groups, on‐off switch behavior on the reflection spectra of the microarray was observed by alternate irradiation with UV–Vis light. Films of polyaniline (PANI) featuring about 80% crystallinity and characterised with strong π‐π stacking alignment parallel to the film surface have been obtained directly after the original synthesis upon simple drying of the aqueous PANI suspension. A strong anisotropy in the growth of the nano‐sized crystals produced during the synthesis results in the formation of micrometer‐length fibrils perpendicular to the film surface in the course of water evaporation. The regular intercalation of water molecules between the PANI chains seems to be crucial for their ordering throughout the synthesis and film formation.
