We improve the well-known form of the transport equation accounting for Compton scattering. We pose and study the direct problem of finding the radiation density distribution for given characteristics of a medium and known density of exterior sources. We prove existence and uniqueness theorems for a solution to the boundary value problem under consideration. The character of constraints corresponds mostly to the process of photon migration in a substance whose characteristics vary continuously with the space and energy variables. Unlike similar results, the assertions are proven without using the traditional inequalities for the coefficients of the transport equation.  相似文献

Compton scattering in intense magnetic fields in the general frame of reference is studied with the help of the QED perturbation theory in the incoming interaction picture. A general expression for the cross section is derived which reduces naturally to the one in the electron-rest frame of reference. This expression can be approximately simplified for the scattering of a high-energy electron with a low-frequency photon. Based on this simplified expreaaion, spectrum functions, as well as power spectra of scattered photons with high energies resulting from the inverse Compton scattering are calculated which manifest clearly a feature of resonances. We show how the hypercyclicity of the transport semigroup can intervene in the scattering theory to characterize the density property of the Lax and Phillips representation theorem and conversely, how the existence of the wave operators of the scattering theory can be used for recovering the hypercyclicity of the absorbing transport group in some weighted spaces.

Criticality problem of nuclear tractors generally refers to an eigenvalue problem for the transport equations. In this paper, we deal with the eigenvalue of the anisotropic scattering transport equation in slab geometry. We propose a new discrete method which was called modified discrete ordinates method. It is constructed by redeveloping and improving discrete ordinates method in the space of L1(X). Different from traditional methods, norm convergence of operator approximation is proved theoretically. Furthermore, convergence of eigenvalue approximation and the corresponding error estimation are obtained by analytical tools.  相似文献

We consider the scattering of an electromagnetic time‐harmonic plane wave by an infinite cylinder having a mixed open crack (or arc) in R2 as the cross section. The crack is made up of two parts, and one of the two parts is (possibly) coated by a material with surface impedance λ. We transform the scattering problem into a system of boundary integral equations by adopting a potential approach, and establish the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution to the system by the Fredholm theory. A boundary-value problem for the polarized-radiation transfer equation for a layered medium with Fresnel matching conditions at the boundaries of the medium partition is examined. The theorems of solvability of the boundary-value problem are proved, and the continuity properties for its solution are examined. A numerical algorithm based on the Monte Carlo method for solving the boundary-value problem is proposed and proved.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the decay estimate and scattering theory for the Klein-Gordon-Hartree equation with radial data in space dimension d ≥ 3. By means of a compactness strategy and two Morawetz-type estimates which come from the linear and nonlinear parts of the equation, respectively, we obtain the corresponding theory for energy subcritical and critical cases. The exponent range of the decay estimates is extended to 0 < γ ≤ 4 and γ < d with Hartree potential V (x) = |x|−γ.  相似文献

We generalize the wave-packet continuum discretization method previously developed for the scattering problem to the three-body system. For each asymptotic channel, we construct a basis of three-body wave packets given by square-integrable functions. We show that the projections of the channel resolvents on the subspace of three-body wave packets are determined by diagonal matrices, whose eigenvalues we find explicitly. We express the amplitudes of 2→2 processes explicitly in terms of “wave-packet” finite-dimensional projections of the full resolvent. To illustrate our formalism, we calculate the differential cross section of elastic deuteron scattering on a heavy nucleus above the three-body breakup threshold and the s-wave quartet (n-d)-scattering amplitude. The results of the calculations agree well with the results obtained by other methods. We obtain an explicit formula for the diagonal singularities of the scattering amplitude for the Dirac equation with short‐range electromagnetic potentials. Using this expansion we uniquely reconstruct an electric potential and magnetic field from the high‐energy limit of the scattering amplitude. Moreover, supposing that the electric potential and magnetic field are asymptotic sums of homogeneous terms we give the unique reconstruction procedure for these asymptotics from the scattering amplitude, known for some energy E. Furthermore, we prove that the set of the averaged scattering solutions to the Dirac equation is dense in the set of all solutions to the Dirac equation that are in L2(Ω), where Ω is any connected bounded open set in with smooth boundary, and we show that if we know an electric potential and a magnetic field for , then the scattering amplitude, given for some energy E, uniquely determines these electric potential and magnetic field everywhere in . Combining this uniqueness result with the reconstruction procedure for the asymptotics of the electric potential and the magnetic field we show that the scattering amplitude, known for some E, uniquely determines a electric potential and a magnetic field, that are asymptotic sums of homogeneous terms, which converges to the electric potential and the magnetic field respectively. Moreover, we discuss the symmetries of the kernel of the scattering matrix, which follow from the parity, charge‐conjugation and time‐reversal transformations for the Dirac operator. We study the initial boundary-value problem for a nonlinear Sobolev-type equation with variable coefficient. We obtain sufficient conditions for both global and local (in time) solvability. In the case of local (but not global) solvability, we obtain upper and lower bounds for the existence time of the solution in the form of explicit and quadrature formulas.  相似文献

There has been a surge of work on models for coupling surface‐water with groundwater flows which is at its core the Stokes–Darcy problem, as well as methods for uncoupling the problem into subdomain, subphysics solves. The resulting (Stokes–Darcy) fluid velocity is important because the flow transports contaminants. The numerical analysis and algorithm development for the evolutionary transport problem has, however, focused on a quasi‐static Stokes–Darcy model and a single domain (fully coupled) formulation of the transport equation. This report presents a numerical analysis of a partitioned method for contaminant transport for the fully evolutionary system. The algorithm studied is unconditionally stable with one subdomain solve per step. Numerical experiments are given using the proposed algorithm that investigates the effects of the penalty parameters on the convergence of the approximations.  相似文献
