The tear fracture surfaces of mixtures of SKS-85 butadiene — styrene copolymer (85% styrene) with ordinary (carbon black, chalk) and polymeric (Kapron and cellophane powder) fillers have been investigated on the interval from –60 to +40°C. As the temperature varies within the limits of the glassy state (Tg SKS-85=+24°C) of the filled polymer, the nature of the fracture surface of specimens of filled mixtures, like that of the unfilled polymer, changes; in the region of the temperature transition of the copolymer associated with the mobility of the phenyl groups (–10±5°C) there is a slowing of the fracture process. At temperatures below the Tg of the copolymer the tear fracture surfaces of specimens of mixtures containing ordinary and polymeric fillers differ sharply. The introduction of fillers (20 vol. %) with a coefficient of thermal expansion different from that of the filled polymer considerably reduces the resistance of the material to fracture and leads to a sharp increase in the rate of crack propagation; the introduction of polymeric fillers with coefficients of thermal expansion similar to that of the filled polymer leads to an increase in the resistance of the material to fracture and to a decrease in the rate of crack propagation.Moscow Technological Institute of the Meat and Dairy Industry; State Institute of Polymer Adhesives, Kirovakan. Composite polymer materials based on PTFE containing ultradisperse -sialon (1–10 wt.%) as the cross-linking agent are studied. It is shown that the injection of small amounts of fillers (1–2 wt.%) increases the degree of composite crystallinity. A correlation between the structure, element distribution on the surface layers of samples, and tribotechnical characteristics of composites is found. The change in the physicomechanical characteristics is associated with the effect of the interstructural plasticization.Ammosov Yakutsk State University, Yakutsk, Russia. The effect of various finely dispersed filler particles differing in size, structure, and the chemical nature of the surface, on the hardness of one crystalline (polycaproamide) and two amorphous (polystyrene and polymethylmethacrylate) polymers has been experimentally investigated. The observed changes in hardness are related with a change in the structural order of the polymer under the influence of the filler and with the formation of structures of different strength by the fillers in the polymer.Kiev Shevchenko State University. A previous investigation [4] of the tear strength of filled systems based on SKS-85 butadiene-styrene copolymer over a broad temperature interval revealed a reversal of the reinforcing effect of fillers with a coefficient of thermal expansion different from that of the filled polymer. At Tg the strength of mixtures containing polymer fillers [Kapron (polycaprolactam) and cellophane powder] exceeds that of mixtures containing chalk and carbon black. The temperature reversal effect is attributed to the severe weakening of the adhesion of the polymer to the surface of the filler particles as a result of the concentration of shrinkage stresses in the polymer-filler contact zone. The presence of shrinkage stresses around the filler particles at Tg is qualitatively demonstrated on model systems using a photoelastic technique. Moreover, it is shown that the unbalance, and hence the residual stresses, in filled systems at temperatures below the glass transition temperature of the filled polymer is determined by the difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion.Moscow Technological Institute of the Meat and Dairy Industry. The distribution of the orientation of the macromolecules over the wall cross section of a filled polyethylene tube is analyzed. A direct proportionality is established between the degree of orientation (estimated from the shrinkage) and the elastic modulus. The effect of various fillers on the melting and crystallization of low-density polyethylene is considered. For a specified filler concentration the elastic modulus of the composites depends very considerably on the relative area of contact between the polymer matrix and the surface of the filler.Institute of the Mechanics of Polymers, Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR, Riga. The elastic (modulus of elasticity and equilibrium high-elastic modulus) and thermal (volume coefficients of thermal expansion below and above the glass transition temperature) properties of compositions based on ÉD-5 epoxy resin cured with polyethylenepolyamine have been investigated. Quartz powder and aluminoborosilicate glass powder were employed as fillers at concentrations from 0 to 0.413. The thermal expansion coefficients of the compositions were studied in a dilatometer, in which the specimen is free of mechanical loads. The Young's modulus at 25°C and the equilibrium high-elastic modulus at 125°C of the compositions were determined in the compression regime in an instrument based on the IZV-2 optical length gage. The thermal expansion coefficients of the polymer matrix were calculated with allowance for the elastic properties of the resin and the filler. It is shown that, as the filler concentration increases, the thermal and elastic properties of the resin in the filled system change. This can be interpreted as a change in the properties of the resin as it approaches the surface of the filler particles. Increased interaction between the filler surface and the epoxy resin tends to stiffen the polymer network.Scientific Research Institute of Precision Technology, Moscow. The dependences of the modulus of elasticity, coefficient of linear expansion, glass transition temperature, and decomposition temperature of epoxide compositions on the concentrations of four fillers of differing physical and chemical natures have been studied. The experimental data were interpreted from the point of view of a lowered mobility of the segments of the polymer molecules as a result of interaction with the filler surface. It was shown to be possible to construct universal curves for each of the studied properties, which were invariant with respect to the nature of the filler.Institute of Polymer Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR, Riga. Possible fracture mechanisms in filled rubbers are examined in the light of the adhesion theory of elastomer reinforcement. The cases of rubbers containing inactive fillers, when the crack grows along the elastomer-filler boundary, and rubbers containing active fillers, when the crack propagates through the polymer, are considered. The effect of the presence of chains of filler particles on the fracture mechanism is examined.Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology. The mechanical properties of ultra-high molecular polyethylene and filled compositions based on it produced by solid-state extrusion of powder semifabricates have been investigated. It is shown that high-level properties are obtained by extrudates with fillers possessing high disposition to adhesive interaction with the polymer matrix. A mathematical model of solid-state extrusion of the compositions is derived considering the possibility of compaction and loosening of the material in the process of deformation. Satisfactory agreement of the calculated and experimental data is obtained.Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 35, No. 1, pp. 101–108, January–February, 1999.  相似文献

The physicomechanical properties and microstructure of phenolic molding powders containing fillers with different surface energies have been investigated. It has been found that an increase in filler surface energy leads to an increase in the density of the resin around the filler particles and hence to an improvement in the physicomechanical properties of the molding powder. A parallel investigation of a molding powder containing a lubricant shows that adsorption of the lubricant on the filler surface reduces the density of the resin, which is accompanied by a deterioration in the properties of the material.Scientific-Research Institute of Precision Engineering Moscow. Two polyester concretes with diabase and marble fillers and aggregates are used as examples to illustrate the possibility of using a structural approach to evaluate the creep of the composite in the initial state and after preliminary aging under laboratory conditions for a period of 12–13 yrs. Experimental study of the creep of polymer concrete and its structural components (resin and binder) after preliminary aging at elevated temperatures (60, 90°) established that the change that occurs in viscoelastic compliance with aging conforms to the analogy principle with a reduction function that depends on aging temperature and time.Institute of Polymer Mechanics. A study has been made of the temperature dependence of the service behavior, deformation, and tear rate of filled systems based on SKS-85. It is established that the introduction of fillers which enhance the strength of systems in the high-elastic state effect a loss of strength in the vitreous state. The observed reversal of the strengthening effect from positive to negative is explained by weakening of the adhesive strength of the bond between polymer and filler particles caused by the increase and concentration of shrinkage stresses during cooling of the specimens. This effect is called temperature inversion of the reinforcing action of fillers.Mekhanika Polimerov, Vol. 1, No. 6, pp. 98–102, 1965  相似文献

Conclusion Based on the results of dynamic experimental studies, it was shown that addition of mineral fillers to polyethylenes does not result in a significant change in the relaxation properties of the polymer matrix of CM. It was found that aggregation of the particles of the granular filler causes a significant increase in the real part of the modulus and a decrease in the mechanical loss tangent of the CM. The possibility of using a modified elastic solution for predicting the effective characteristics of the dynamic viscoelasticity of composites was demonstrated.Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, No. 4. pp. 579–586, July–August, 1989.  相似文献

Conclusions 1. The process of friction of antifrictional self-lubricating plastics based on F-1 polyarylate and various fillers has been studied. It has been shown that a distinctive feature of this process is the formation of a film of the same composition as that of the antifrictional plastic on the steel surface.2. It has been shown that during the process of friction of antifrictional self-lubricating plastics both structural changes in the mobybdenum disulfide and also tribochemical transformations of molybdenum disulfide and copper, plus reaction of these with the counterbody material, take place in the surface films.3. It has been found that the nature of the tribochemical transformations depends on the chemical composition of the antifrictional self-lubricating plastic and affects the temperature limits of the friction zones.Institute of Heteroorganic Compounds, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow. A comparative investigation has been made of the antifriction and mechanical properties of polymer compositions based on K-400 silicone adhesive and fillers in the form of finely dispersed powdered polymers (tetrafluoroethylene, Kapron, polyethylene), graphite, sawdust, B-83 babbitt, and a lubricantUS-2 grease. The antifriction properties of these materials are not inferior to those of some common nonferrous metals (B-83 babbitt, TsAM9-1.5 zinc alloy, OTsS5-5-5 bronze). The rational range of application of the compositions investigated is indicated.Rostov-on-Don Institute of Railroad Transport Engineers. Dry friction of a series of crystalline polymers (polypropylene, nylon, PTFE) against steel over a wide range of sliding velocities (4.4–4.4×10–4 cm/sec) and loads (P=7.5–360 kg) with almost complete mutual overlap of the friction surfaces is studied. It is shown that friction of polymer materials against steel may be accompanied by melting of the crystalline polymer (at high velocities) or cold flow (at low velocities) in the surface layers associated with an orientation effect and the appearance of anisotropy.Mekhanika Polimerov, Vol. 1, No. 5, pp. 95–100, 1965  相似文献

The results are presented from comparative investigations into the antifrictional and mechanical properties of polymer compositions based on epoxide resins ÉD-5, ÉD-6, and fillers in the form of finely dispersed powders of polymeric materials [polyfluoroethylene, polycaproamide (Kapron B), polyethylene, graphite, sawdust], Babbitt metal B-83, and solidol US-2 grease. The investigations show that the above-mentioned materials are not inferior in their antifrictional characteristics to the widely used nonferrous metals (Babbitt B-83, TsAM 9-1.5, bronze OTsS 5-5-5).
