In this paper, a zero factor idea is introduced to extend the convergence framework in [G.-Q. Chen, C.D. Levermore, T.-P. Liu, Hyperbolic conservation laws with stiff relaxation terms and entropy, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 47 (1994) 787-830] for the singular limits of stiff relaxation from general 2×2 hyperbolic conservation systems to nonstrictly hyperbolic systems and an application of this framework on the so-called system of extended traffic flow is obtained.  相似文献

This work presents an alternative numerical procedure for simulating a class of nonlinear hyperbolic systems, using Glimm's method for advancing in time. The standard procedure to implement this methodology suffers from the disadvantage of requiring a complete solution of the associated Riemann problem—a task, in general, not easily reached. The alternative procedure introduced in this article consists in approximating the solution of the associated Riemann problem by piecewise constant functions always satisfying the jump condition—thus circumventing the difficulty of solving the Riemann problem and giving rise to an approximation easier to implement with lower computational cost. In order to illustrate the good performance of the alternative methodology proposed, two problems are considered—namely the transport of a pollutant in the atmosphere and the dynamics of the filling up of a rigid porous medium, modeled under a mixture theory viewpoint. Comparison with the standard procedure, employing the complete solution of the associated Riemann problem for implementing Glimm's scheme, has shown good agreement.  相似文献

This paper describes a method for tracking contact discontinuities and material interfaces that arise in the solution of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. Numerical results are presented to show that the fronts are resolved to within a mesh interval and smooth portions of the solution are computed to within the accuracy of the underlying numerical scheme.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the limit relations from the Euler equations of one‐dimensional compressible fluid flow and the magnetohydrodynamics equations to the simplified transport equations, where the δ‐shock waves occur in their Riemann solutions of the latter two equations. The objective is to prove that the Riemann solutions of the perturbed equations coming from the one‐dimensional simplified Euler equations and the magnetohydrodynamics equations converge to the corresponding Riemann solutions of the simplified transport equations as the perturbation parameterx ε tends to zero. Furthermore, the result can also be generalized to more general situations. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We present a class of high‐order weighted essentially nonoscillatory (WENO) reconstructions based on relaxation approximation of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. The main advantage of combining the WENO schemes with relaxation approximation is the fact that the presented schemes avoid solution of the Riemann problems due to the relaxation approach and high‐resolution is obtained by applying the WENO approach. The emphasis is on a fifth‐order scheme and its performance for solving a wide class of systems of conservation laws. To show the effectiveness of these methods, we present numerical results for different test problems on multidimensional hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider a nonlinear system of conservation laws, which is strictly hyperbolic, genuinely nonlinear in the large, equipped with a convex entropy function and global Riemann invariants. Nevertheless, for such a system for dimension five, it is shown that uniqueness of the similarity solution of a Riemann problem satisfying the entropy condition can fail.  相似文献

Summary. This paper concerns the study of a relaxation scheme for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. In particular, with the compensated compactness techniques, we prove a rigorous result of convergence of the approximate solutions toward an entropy solution of the equilibrium system, as the relaxation time and the mesh size tend to zero. This paper deals with oscillatory solutions of one dimensional syterns of conservation laws endowed with one linearly degenerate characteristic field. Recently, Weinan E (cf. [3]) and D. Sene (cf. [11]) derived a system of homogenized equations, by using a multiple scale analysis. Our goal is to prove rigourous error estimates in order to justify the validity of these equations, at least when initial data are smooth.  相似文献

In this paper, we describe a novel formulation of a preconditioned BiCGSTAB algorithm for the solution of ill-conditioned linear systems Ax=b. The developed extension enables the control of the residual r m =bAx m of the approximate solution x m independent of the specific left, right or two-sided preconditioning technique considered. Thereby, the presented modification does not require any additional computational effort and can be introduced directly into existing computer codes. Furthermore, the proceeding is not restricted to the BiCGSTAB method, hence the strategy can serve as a guideline to extend similar Krylov sub-space methods in the same manner. Based on the presented algorithm, we study the behavior of different preconditioning techniques. We introduce a new physically motivated approach within an implicit finite volume scheme for the system of the Euler equations of gas dynamics which is a typical representative of hyperbolic conservation laws. Thereupon a great variety of realistic flow problems are considered in order to give reliable statements concerning the efficiency and performance of modern preconditioning techniques.  相似文献

This article examines the utilization of a spatial averaging technique to the nonlinear terms of the partial differential equations as an inviscid shock-regularization of hyperbolic conservation laws. A central motivation is to promote the idea of applying filtering techniques such as the observable divergence method, rather than viscous regularization, as an alternative to the simulation of shocks and turbulence in inviscid flows while, on the other hand, generalizing and unifying previous mathematical and numerical analysis of the method applied to the one-dimensional Burgers’ and Euler equations. This article primarily concerns the mathematical analysis of the technique and examines two fundamental issues. The first is on the global existence and uniqueness of classical solutions for the regularization under the more general setting of quasilinear, symmetric hyperbolic systems in higher dimensions. The second issue examines one-dimensional scalar conservation laws and shows that the inviscid regularization method captures the unique entropy or physically relevant solution of the original, non-averaged problem as filtering vanishes.  相似文献
