Universal bounds for eigenvalues of the biharmonic operator on Riemannian manifolds

In this paper we consider eigenvalues of the Dirichlet biharmonic operator on compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary (possibly empty) and prove a general inequality for them. By using this inequality, we study eigenvalues of the Dirichlet biharmonic operator on compact domains in a Euclidean space or a minimal submanifold of it and a unit sphere. We obtain universal bounds on the (k+1)th eigenvalue on such objects in terms of the first k eigenvalues independent of the domains. The estimate for the (k+1)th eigenvalue of bounded domains in a Euclidean space improves an important inequality obtained recently by Cheng and Yang.     

Eigenvalues of the buckling problem of arbitrary order and of the polyharmonic operator on Ricci flat manifolds

In this paper, we study eigenvalues of the buckling problem of arbitrary order and of the polyharmonic operator on bounded domains in Ricci flat manifolds supporting a special function and obtain universal bounds on the (k+1)$(k+1)$th eigenvalue in terms of the first k eigenvalues independent of the domains.     

On Riesz Means of Eigenvalues

In this article we prove the equivalence of certain inequalities for Riesz means of eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian with a classical inequality of Kac. Connections are made via integral transforms including those of Laplace, Legendre, Weyl, and Mellin, and the Riemann–Liouville fractional transform. We also prove new universal eigenvalue inequalities and monotonicity principles for Dirichlet Laplacians as well as certain Schrödinger operators. At the heart of these inequalities are calculations of commutators of operators, sum rules, and monotonic properties of Riesz means. In the course of developing these inequalities we prove new bounds for the partition function and the spectral zeta function (cf. Corollaries 3.5–3.7) and conjecture about additional bounds.     

不定与定型Sturm-Liouville问题间特征值不等式

应用不定和定型Sturm-Liouville(S-L)问题在直和空间上的等价刻画,以及其特征值对边界和边值条件的单调依赖关系,本文建立了不定型S-L问题与一个相关的定型S-L问题之间的特征值不等式关系.     

一类Sturm-Liouville问题特征的渐近分析

考虑[0,1]上带第三类边界条件的S-L问题特征值的渐近表示.利用已有的渐近性结果及Fr啨chet导数技术,对特征值进行了精细的分析,清楚地给出了边界条件中的常数(h,H)对特征值的影响.本文的工作对S-L问题的一类反谱问题及相关微分方程反问题的唯一性结果有着重要的应用,也为专著[4,6]中的某些关键结果提供了一个简化的证明途径.     

Eigenvalues of Elliptic Systems for the Mixed Problem in Perturbations of Lipschitz Domains with Nonhomogeneous Neumann Boundary Conditions

We study eigenvalues of an elliptic operator with mixed boundary conditions on very general decompositions of the boundary. We impose nonhomogeneous conditions on the part of the boundary where the Neumann term lies in a certain Sobolev or L^p space. Our work compares the behavior of and gives a relationship between the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions on the unperturbed and perturbed domains, respectively.

‘Universal’ inequalities for the eigenvalues of the Hodge de Rham Laplacian

We obtain ‘universal’ inequalities for the eigenvalues of the Laplacian acting on differential forms of a Euclidean compact submanifold. These inequalities generalize the Yang inequality concerning the eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian of a bounded Euclidean domain.

具有周期系数的左定Sturm-Liouville问题的特征值不等式

该文利用了左定问题与右定问题的联系,得到了具有周期系数的左定Sturm-Liouville问题在区间[a,a+kh]上的周期和半周期特征值的描述,阐明了周期特征值之间的不等式关系,并明确给出了区间[a,a+kh]上的周期、半周期特征值和区间[a,a+h]上特征值的一一对应关系.     

Eigenvalues of the negative Laplacian for simply connected bounded domains

This paper is devoted to asymptotic formulae for functions related with the spectrum of the negative Laplacian in two and three dimensional bounded simply connected domains with impedance boundary conditions, where the impedances are assumed to be discontinuous functions. Moreover, asymptotic expressions for the difference of eigenvalues related to the impedance problems with different impedances are derived. Further results may be obtained.     

The Isomorphism Problem for Universal Enveloping Algebras of Lie Algebras

Let L be a Lie algebra with universal enveloping algebra U(L). We prove that if H is another Lie algebra with the property that U(L) ≅ U(H) then certain invariants of L are inherited by H. For example, we prove that if L is nilpotent then H is nilpotent with the same class as L. We also prove that if L is nilpotent of class at most two then L is isomorphic to H. Presented by D. Universal spaces for asymptotic dimension

We construct a universal space for the class of proper metric spaces of bounded geometry and of given asymptotic dimension. As a consequence of this result, we establish coincidence of asymptotic dimension with asymptotic inductive dimension.     

Two new Weyl-type bounds for the Dirichlet Laplacian

In this paper, we prove two new Weyl-type upper estimates for the eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian. As a consequence, we obtain the following lower bounds for its counting function. For , one has

Buchstaber Invariants of Universal Complexes

Davis and Januszkiewicz introduced (real and complex) universal complexes to give an equivalent definition of characteristic maps of simple polytopes,which now can be seen as "colorings".The author derives an equivalent definition of Buchstaber invariants of a simplicial complex K,then interprets the difference of the real and complex Buchstaber invariants of K as the obstruction to liftings of nondegenerate simplicial maps from K to the real universal complex or the complex universal complex.It was proved by Ayzenberg that real universal complexes can not be nondegenerately mapped into complex universal complexes when dimension is 3.This paper presents that there is a nondegenerate map from 3-dimensional real universal complex to 4-dimensional complex universal complex.     

On the Laplacian Eigenvalues and Metric Parameters of Hypergraphs

The aim of this paper is to generalize some concepts and recent results of the algebraic graph theory in order to investigate and describe, by algebraic methods, the properties of some combinatorial structures. Here we introduce a version of "Laplacian matrix" of a hypergraph and we obtain several spectral-like results on its metric parameters, such as the diameter, mean distance, excess, bandwidth and cutsets.     

Simultaneous Vector Variational Inequalities and Vector Implicit Complementarity Problem

The concepts of monotone pair of mappings and vector implicit complementarity problem (VICP) in ordered Banach spaces are introduced. Existence theorems for simultaneous vector variational inequalities (VVI) and VICP are proved.
