We show that two, non-interacting, infinitely long spin chains can become globally entangled at the mesoscopic level of their fluctuation operators through a purely noisy microscopic mechanism induced by the presence of a common heat bath. By focusing on a suitable class of mesoscopic observables, the behaviour of the dissipatively generated quantum correlations between the two chains is studied as a function of the dissipation strength and bath temperature.  相似文献

We investigate the feasibility of implementing an elementary building block for quantum information processing. The combination of a deterministic single photon source based on vacuum stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (V-STIRAP), and a quantum memory based on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in atomic vapour is outlined. Both systems are able to produce and process temporally shaped wavepackets which provide a way to maintain the indistinguishability of the photons. We also propose an efficient and robust ‘repeat-until-success’ quantum computation scheme based on this hybrid architecture.  相似文献

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of a system composed of two non-interacting qubits, A and B. A third qubit, C, only has the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) spin-orbit interaction with qubit B. We find that the DM interaction can induce the entanglement sudden death (ESD) of the system qubits A and B, and properly mixing the initial state of the system and adjusting the state of qubit C are two effective methods of controlling ESD.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum entanglement in a double-cavity optomechanical system consisting of an optomechanical cavity and an auxiliary cavity, where the optomechanical cavity mode couples with the mechanical mode via radiation-pressure interaction, and simultaneously couples with the auxiliary cavity mode via nonreciprocal coupling. We study the entanglement between the mechanical oscillator and the cavity modes when the two cavities are reciprocally or nonreciprocally coupled. The logarithmic negativity $E_{n}^{(1)}$ ($E_{n}^{(2)}$) is adopted to describe the entanglement degree between the mechanical mode and the optomechanical cavity mode (the auxiliary cavity mode). We find that both $E_{n}^{(1)}$ and $E_{n}^{(2)}$ have maximum values in the case of reciprocal coupling. By using nonreciprocal coupling, $E_{n}^{(1)}$ and $E_{n}^{(2)}$ can exceed those maximum values, and a wider detuning region where the entanglement exists can be obtained. Moreover, the entanglement robustness with respect to the environment temperature is also effectively enhanced.  相似文献

The properties of some complex many body systems can be modeled by introducing in the dissipative dynamics of each single component a set of kinetic constraints that depend on the state of the neighbor systems. Here, we characterize this kind of dynamics for two quantum systems whose independent dissipative evolutions are defined by a Lindblad equation. The constraints are introduced through a set of projectors that restrict the action of each single dissipative Lindblad channel to the state of the other system. Conditions that guarantee a classical interpretation of the kinetic constraints are found. The generation and evolution of entanglement is studied for two optical qubits systems. Classically constrained dissipation leads to a stationary state whose degree of entanglement depends on the initial state. Nevertheless, independently of the initial conditions, a maximal entangled state is generated when both systems are subjected to the action of local Hamiltonian fields that do not commutate with the constraints. The underlying physical mechanism is analyzed in detail.  相似文献

We investigate two identical Λ-type atoms in free space, and focus on the entanglement between the two atoms. We derive a master equation for the atomic subspace and solve it analytically to show how the spontaneous emission from the two atoms system induces entanglement. The magnitude of the entanglement and the steady state entanglement are found to be strongly dependent on the initial states and the orientation of the dipoles of the two atoms.  相似文献

We have measured the second-order correlation function of the cavity-QED microlaser output and observed a transition from photon bunching to antibunching with increasing average number of intracavity atoms. The observed correlation times and the transition from super- to sub-Poisson photon statistics can be well described by gain-loss feedback or enhanced-reduced restoring action against fluctuations in photon number in the context of a quantum microlaser theory and a photon rate equation picture. However, the theory predicts a degree of antibunching several times larger than that observed, which may indicate the inadequacy of its treatment of atomic velocity distributions.  相似文献

We study the decoherence of polarization-entangled photon pairs subject to the effects of polarization mode dispersion, the chief polarization decoherence mechanism in optical fibers. We show that fiber propagation reveals an intriguing interplay between the concepts of entanglement sudden death, decoherence-free subspaces, and nonlocality. We define the boundaries in which entanglement-based quantum communications protocols relying on fiber propagation can be applied.  相似文献

We propose a method to prepare entangled states and implement quantum computation with atoms in optical cavities. The internal states of the atoms are entangled by a measurement of the phase of light transmitted through the cavity. By repeated measurements an entangled state is created with certainty, and this entanglement can be used to implement gates on qubits which are stored in different internal degrees of freedom of the atoms. This method, based on measurement induced dynamics, has a higher fidelity than schemes making use of controlled unitary dynamics.  相似文献

We propose a cavity-QED scheme to effectively generate Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen polarization-entangled photon pairs. Assisted by a classical π-polarized pump field, a tripod four-level atom successively couples to two high-Q optical cavities possessing polarization degeneracy. When an entangled state is transformed into another one with probability one by local operations and classical communication, the quantity of entanglement decreases. This Letter shows that entanglement lost in the manipulation can be partially recovered by an auxiliary entangled pair. As an application, a maximally entangled pair can be obtained from two partially entangled pairs with probability one. Finally, this recovery scheme reveals a fundamental property of entanglement relevant to the existence of incomparable states.  相似文献

We propose a scheme for entangling two nanomechanical oscillators by Coulomb interaction in an optomechanical system. We find that the steady-state entanglement of two charged nanomechanical oscillators can be obtained when the coupling between them is stronger than a critical value which relies on the detuning. Remarkably, the degree of entanglement can be controlled by the Coulomb interaction and the frequencies of the two charged oscillators.  相似文献

We propose a feasible scheme to generate electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) and quadripartite macroscopic entanglement in an optomechanical system with one fixed mirror and three movable perfectly reflecting mirrors.We explore the EIT phenomena in this optomechanical system.Results show the appearance of EIT dips in the output field.Moreover,we demonstrate how steady-state quadripartite entanglement can be generated via radiation pressure.We also quantify the bipartite entanglement in each field-mirror subsystem and in the mirror-mirror subsystem.Findings show that a high intensity of entanglement between two subsystems can be achieved.  相似文献

We propose a new scheme to achieve fully three-mode entanglement based on the standard criteria [P. van Loock and A. Furusawa, Phys. Rev. A 67, 052315 (2003)] in a four-level atomic system driven by two strong classical fields. Via numerically simulating the dynamics of the system, we investigate the generation and evolution of entanglement. Based on our scheme, it is demonstrated that the three-mode continuous-variable (CV) entanglement can be achieved under different initial conditions and the entangled period will be extended by enhancing the intensity of the classical field. Moreover, our numerical results also show that the present system can be considered as a three-mode entanglement amplifier.  相似文献

We study three-body entanglement induced by spontaneous emission in a three two-level atoms system by using the entanglement tensor approach. The results show that the amount of entanglement is strongly dependent on the initial state of the system and the species of atoms. The three-body entanglement is the result of the coherent superposition of the two-body entanglements. The larger the two-body entanglement is, the stronger the three-body entanglement is. On the other hand, if there exists a great difference in three two-body entanglement measures, the three-body entanglement is very weak. We also find that the maximum of the two-body entanglement obtained with nonidentical atoms is greater than that obtained with identical atoms via adjusting the difference in atomic frequency.  相似文献

We present a scheme for entangling two micromechanical oscillators. The scheme exploits the quantum effects of radiation pressure and it is based on a novel application of entanglement swapping, where standard optical measurements are used to generate purely mechanical entanglement. The scheme is presented by first solving the general problem of entanglement swapping between arbitrary bipartite Gaussian states, for which simple input-output formulas are provided.  相似文献

We propose a feasible scheme of generating multipartite entanglement with the dipole induced transparency(DIT) effect in indirectly coupled dipole-microcavity systems. It is shown that the transmission spectrum is closely related with the interference of dipole-microcavity systems, and we can generate different classes of multipartite entanglement, e.g., the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state, the W state, and the Dicke state, of the dipole emitters just by choosing an appropriate frequency of the incident photon. Benefiting from the DIT effect,the schemes may work in the bad or low-Q cavity regime only if the large Purcell factor of the dipole-microcavity system is fulfilled, and they are also insensitive to experimental noise, which may be feasible with present accessible technology.  相似文献

We present a scheme for entanglement purification with linear optics that works for currently available parametric down-conversion sources, in contrast to a previous scheme [J. W. Pan, Nature (London) 410, 1067 (2001)]] that relied on ideal single-pair sources. The present scheme makes use of spatial entanglement in order to purify polarization entanglement. Surprisingly, spatial entanglement as an additional resource also leads to a substantial improvement in entanglement output compared to the previous scheme.  相似文献
