On some polynomial values of repdigit numbers

We study the equal values of repdigit numbers and the k dimensional polygonal numbers. We state some effective finiteness theorems, and for small parameter values we completely solve the corresponding equations.     

Harmonic numbers at half integer values

Half integer values of harmonic numbers and reciprocal binomial coefficients sums are investigated in this paper. Closed-form representations and integral expressions are developed for the infinite series.     

Algebroid plane curves whose Milnor and Tjurina numbers differ by one or two

In this paper we describe all irreducible plane algebroid curves, defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, modulo analytic equivalence, having the property that the difference between their Milnor and Tjurina numbers is 1 or 2. Our work extends a previous result of O. Zariski who described such curves when this difference is zero.Partially supported by PRONEX and CNPq.     

Parity of ranks for elliptic curves with a cyclic isogeny

Let E be an elliptic curve over a number field K which admits a cyclic p-isogeny with p?3 and semistable at primes above p. We determine the root number and the parity of the p-Selmer rank for E/K, in particular confirming the parity conjecture for such curves. We prove the analogous results for p=2 under the additional assumption that E is not supersingular at primes above 2.     

Betti and Tachibana numbers of compact Riemannian manifolds

We present definitions and properties of conformal Killing forms on a Riemannian manifold and determine Tachibana numbers as analogs of the well known Betti numbers of a compact Riemannian manifold. We show some sets of conditions which characterize these numbers. Finally, we prove some results which establish relationships between Betti and Tachibana numbers.     

The pyramidal capacitated vehicle routing problem

This paper introduces the pyramidal capacitated vehicle routing problem (PCVRP) as a restricted version of the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP). In the PCVRP each route is required to be pyramidal in a sense generalized from the pyramidal traveling salesman problem (PTSP). A pyramidal route is defined as a route on which the vehicle first visits customers in increasing order of customer index, and on the remaining part of the route visits customers in decreasing order of customer index.     

Modelling by a planar map: Lyapunov-type numbers in the presence of spiral points

Lyapunov-type numbers are usually defined for diffeomorphisms with a smooth invariant manifold. We consider here the case of a planar diffeomorphism with an invariant curve that contains spiral points. The limits defining the Lyapunov-type numbers are shown to exist. Numerical results for the delayed logistic map illustrate the analysis.     

Evaluation of discrete logarithms in a group of

We show that to solve the discrete log problem in a subgroup of order of an elliptic curve over the finite field of characteristic one needs operations in this field.

     

Similarity of hybrid numbers

The set of hybrid numbers $𝕂$ is a noncommutative number system that unified and generalized the complex, dual, and double (hyperbolic) numbers with the relation ih =− hi =ε+ i. Two hybrid numbers p and q are said to be similar if there exist a nonlightlike hybrid number x satisfying the equality x ⁻¹ qx = p . And, it is denoted by p ∼ q . In this paper, we study the concept of similarity for hybrid numbers by solving the linear equations px = xq and qx − xp = c for $\text{◂,▸}\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q},\mathbf{c}\in 𝕂\mathbf{.}$     

Ordinary abelian varieties having small embedding degree

Miyaji, Nakabayashi and Takano (MNT) gave families of group orders of ordinary elliptic curves with embedding degree suitable for pairing applications. In this paper we generalise their results by giving families corresponding to non-prime group orders. We also consider the case of ordinary abelian varieties of dimension 2. We give families of group orders with embedding degrees 5, 10 and 12.     

Mod representations of elliptic curves

Explicit equations are given for the elliptic curves (in characteristic ) with mod representation isomorphic to that of a given one.

Sums of products of Cauchy numbers

In this paper, we consider a kind of sums involving Cauchy numbers, which have not been studied in the literature. By means of the method of coefficients, we give some properties of the sums. We further derive some recurrence relations and establish a series of identities involving the sums, Stirling numbers, generalized Bernoulli numbers, generalized Euler numbers, Lah numbers, and harmonic numbers. In particular, we generalize some relations between two kinds of Cauchy numbers and some identities for Cauchy numbers and Stirling numbers.     

The State of Elliptic Curve Cryptography

Since the introduction of public-key cryptography by Diffie and Hellman in 1976, the potential for the use of the discrete logarithm problem in public-key cryptosystems has been recognized. Although the discrete logarithm problem as first employed by Diffie and Hellman was defined explicitly as the problem of finding logarithms with respect to a generator in the multiplicative group of the integers modulo a prime, this idea can be extended to arbitrary groups and, in particular, to elliptic curve groups. The resulting public-key systems provide relatively small block size, high speed, and high security. This paper surveys the development of elliptic curve cryptosystems from their inception in 1985 by Koblitz and Miller to present day implementations.     

A complete diophantine characterization of the rational torsion of an elliptic curve

We give a complete characterization for the rational torsion of an elliptic curve in terms of the (non-)existence of integral solutions of a system of diophantine equations.     

Addition law structure of elliptic curves

The study of alternative models for elliptic curves has found recent interest from cryptographic applications, after it was recognized that such models provide more efficiently computable algorithms for the group law than the standard Weierstrass model. Examples of such models arise via symmetries induced by a rational torsion structure. We analyze the module structure of the space of sections of the addition morphisms, determine explicit dimension formulas for the spaces of sections and their eigenspaces under the action of torsion groups, and apply this to specific models of elliptic curves with parametrized torsion subgroups.
